Chapter 6

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּene֖y levi֑y gּereshsho֕m qeha֖t umerariֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

בְּנֵ֖י לֵוִ֑י גֵּרְשֹׁ֕ם קְהָ֖ת וּמְרָרִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'e֛lּeh shshem֥ot bּeֽney-gereshsh֖om libeni֥y veshshime'iֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

וְאֵ֛לֶּה שְׁמ֥וֹת בְּֽנֵי־גֵרְשׁ֖וֹם לִבְנִ֥י וְשִׁמְעִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubene֖y qeha֑t 'amera֣m veyitzeha֔r vecheber֖on ve'uzּiy'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The children of Amram were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

וּבְנֵ֖י קְהָ֑ת עַמְרָ֣ם וְיִצְהָ֔ר וְחֶבְר֖וֹן וְעֻזִּיאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּene֥y merari֖y macheli֣y umushshi֑y ve'e֛lּeh mishshepּech֥ot halּevi֖y la'aboteyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Eleazar begot Phinehas, and Phinehas begot Abishua;

בְּנֵ֥י מְרָרִ֖י מַחְלִ֣י וּמֻשִׁ֑י וְאֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּח֥וֹת הַלֵּוִ֖י לַאֲבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): leֽgereshsh֑om libeni֥y ben֛o ya֥chat bּen֖o zimּa֥h benֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Abishua begot Bukki, and Bukki begot Uzzi;

לְֽגֵרְשׁ֑וֹם לִבְנִ֥י בְנ֛וֹ יַ֥חַת בְּנ֖וֹ זִמָּ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yo'a֤ch bּeno֙ 'idּ֣o ben֔o ze֥rach bּen֖o ye'atera֥y bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Uzzi begot Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begot Meraioth;

יוֹאָ֤ח בְּנוֹ֙ עִדּ֣וֹ בְנ֔וֹ זֶ֥רַח בְּנ֖וֹ יְאָתְרַ֥י בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּene֖y qeha֑t 'amּiynada֣b bּen֔o qo֥rach bּen֖o 'asּi֥yr bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Meraioth begot Amariah, and Amariah begot Ahitub;

בְּנֵ֖י קְהָ֑ת עַמִּינָדָ֣ב בְּנ֔וֹ קֹ֥רַח בְּנ֖וֹ אַסִּ֥יר בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): eleqana֥h ben֛o ve'ebeyasa֥p bּen֖o ve'asּi֥yr bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Ahitub begot Zadok, and Zadok begot Ahimaaz;

אֶלְקָנָ֥ה בְנ֛וֹ וְאֶבְיָסָ֥ף בְּנ֖וֹ וְאַסִּ֥יר בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tּa֤chat bּeno֙ 'uriy'e֣l bּen֔o 'uzּiyּa֥h ben֖o veshsha'֥ul bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Ahimaaz begot Azariah, and Azariah begot Johanan;

תַּ֤חַת בְּנוֹ֙ אוּרִיאֵ֣ל בְּנ֔וֹ עֻזִּיָּ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ וְשָׁא֥וּל בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubeney֙ 'eleqana֔h 'amashsa֖y va'achiymֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Johanan begot Azariah (it was he who ministered as priest in the Temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem);

וּבְנֵי֙ אֶלְקָנָ֔ה עֲמָשַׂ֖י וַאֲחִימֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): eleqana֑h bnv bּeney֙ 'eleqana֔h tzopa֥y bּen֖o vena֥chat bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Azariah begot Amariah, and Amariah begot Ahitub;

אֶלְקָנָ֑ה בנו בְּנֵי֙ אֶלְקָנָ֔ה צוֹפַ֥י בְּנ֖וֹ וְנַ֥חַת בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): eliy'a֥b bּen֛o yerocha֥m bּen֖o 'eleqana֥h benֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Ahitub begot Zadok, and Zadok begot Shallum;

אֱלִיאָ֥ב בְּנ֛וֹ יְרֹחָ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ אֶלְקָנָ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubene֧y shshemu'e֛l habּeko֥r vashsheni֖y va'abiyּaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Shallum begot Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begot Azariah;

וּבְנֵ֧י שְׁמוּאֵ֛ל הַבְּכֹ֥ר וַשְׁנִ֖י וַאֲבִיָּֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּene֥y merari֖y macheli֑y libeni֥y ben֛o shshime'i֥y ben֖o 'uzּa֥h benֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Azariah begot Seraiah, and Seraiah begot Jehozadak.

בְּנֵ֥י מְרָרִ֖י מַחְלִ֑י לִבְנִ֥י בְנ֛וֹ שִׁמְעִ֥י בְנ֖וֹ עֻזָּ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshime'a֥ ben֛o chagּiyּa֥h ben֖o 'ashsaya֥h benֽo׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)Jehozadak went into captivity when the LORD carried Judah and Jerusalem into exile by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

שִׁמְעָ֥א בְנ֛וֹ חַגִּיָּ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ עֲשָׂיָ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'e֗lּeh 'ashshe֨r he'emi֥yd dּavi֛yd 'al-yedey-shshi֖yr bּe֣yt yehva֑h mimּen֖ocha ha'arֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Levi were Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.

וְאֵ֗לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֶעֱמִ֥יד דָּוִ֛יד עַל־יְדֵי־שִׁ֖יר בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה מִמְּנ֖וֹחַ הָאָרֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּihey֨u meshshareti֜ym lipene֨y mishshekּa֤n 'oֽhel-mo'ed֙ bּashshּi֔yr 'ad-bּen֧ot shshelomo֛h 'et-bּe֥yt yehva֖h bּiyrushshala֑im vayּa'amed֥u kemishshepּata֖m 'al-'abodataֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.

וַיִּהְי֨וּ מְשָׁרְתִ֜ים לִפְנֵ֨י מִשְׁכַּ֤ן אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵד֙ בַּשִּׁ֔יר עַד־בְּנ֧וֹת שְׁלֹמֹ֛ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וַיַּעַמְד֥וּ כְמִשְׁפָּטָ֖ם עַל־עֲבוֹדָתָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'e֥lּeh ha'omedi֖ym ubeneyhe֑m mibּeney֙ haqּehati֔y heyman֙ hameshshore֔r bּen-yo'e֖l bּen-shshemu'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

וְאֵ֥לֶּה הָעֹמְדִ֖ים וּבְנֵיהֶ֑ם מִבְּנֵי֙ הַקְּהָתִ֔י הֵימָן֙ הַמְשׁוֹרֵ֔ר בֶּן־יוֹאֵ֖ל בֶּן־שְׁמוּאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-'eleqanah֙ bּen-yerocha֔m bּen-'eliy'e֖l bּen-tּֽocha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers.

בֶּן־אֶלְקָנָה֙ בֶּן־יְרֹחָ֔ם בֶּן־אֱלִיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־תּֽוֹחַ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-tzyp tzup֙ bּen-'eleqana֔h bּen-ma֖chat bּen-'amashsaֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Of Gershom were Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,

בֶּן־ציף צוּף֙ בֶּן־אֶלְקָנָ֔ה בֶּן־מַ֖חַת בֶּן־עֲמָשָֽׂי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-'eleqanah֙ bּen-yo'e֔l bּen-'azareya֖h bּen-tzepaneyaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and Jeatherai his son.

בֶּן־אֶלְקָנָה֙ בֶּן־יוֹאֵ֔ל בֶּן־עֲזַרְיָ֖ה בֶּן־צְפַנְיָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-tּa֨chat֙ bּen-'asּi֔yr bּen-'ebeyasa֖p bּen-qoֽrach׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Kohath were Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,

בֶּן־תַּ֨חַת֙ בֶּן־אַסִּ֔יר בֶּן־אֶבְיָסָ֖ף בֶּן־קֹֽרַח׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-yitzeha֣r bּen-qeha֔t bּen-levi֖y bּen-yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son,

בֶּן־יִצְהָ֣ר בֶּן־קְהָ֔ת בֶּן־לֵוִ֖י בֶּן־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'achi֣yv 'asa֔p ha'ome֖d 'al-yemiyn֑o 'asa֥p bּen-bּerekeya֖hu bּen-shshime'aֽ'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son.

וְאָחִ֣יו אָסָ֔ף הָעֹמֵ֖ד עַל־יְמִינ֑וֹ אָסָ֥ף בֶּן־בֶּרֶכְיָ֖הוּ בֶּן־שִׁמְעָֽא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-miyka'e֥l bּen-bּa'ashseya֖h bּen-malekּiyּaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Elkanah were Amasai and Ahimoth.

בֶּן־מִיכָאֵ֥ל בֶּן־בַּעֲשֵׂיָ֖ה בֶּן־מַלְכִּיָּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-'eteni֥y ben-ze֖rach bּen-'adayaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)As for Elkanah, the sons of Elkanah were Zophai his son, Nahath his son,

בֶּן־אֶתְנִ֥י בֶן־זֶ֖רַח בֶּן־עֲדָיָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-'eyta֥n bּen-zimּa֖h bּen-shshime'iֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, and Elkanah his son.

בֶּן־אֵיתָ֥ן בֶּן־זִמָּ֖ה בֶּן־שִׁמְעִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-ya֥chat bּen-gּereshsho֖m bּen-leviֽy׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Samuel were Joel the firstborn, and Abijah the second.

בֶּן־יַ֥חַת בֶּן־גֵּרְשֹׁ֖ם בֶּן־לֵוִֽי׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubene֧y merari֛y 'acheyhe֖m 'aֽl-hashsּemo֑'vl 'eytan֙ bּen-qiyshshi֔y bּen-'abedּi֖y bּen-malּֽuke׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Merari were Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzza his son,

וּבְנֵ֧י מְרָרִ֛י אֲחֵיהֶ֖ם עַֽל־הַשְּׂמֹ֑אול אֵיתָן֙ בֶּן־קִישִׁ֔י בֶּן־עַבְדִּ֖י בֶּן־מַלּֽוּךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-chashshabeya֥h ben-'amatzeya֖h bּen-chileqiyּaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.

בֶּן־חֲשַׁבְיָ֥ה בֶן־אֲמַצְיָ֖ה בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-'ametzi֥y ben-bּani֖y bּen-shshaֽmer׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Now these are the men whom David appointed over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after the ark came to rest there.

בֶּן־אַמְצִ֥י בֶן־בָּנִ֖י בֶּן־שָֽׁמֶר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-macheliy֙ bּen-mushshi֔y bּen-merari֖y bּen-leviֽy׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)They ministered with song before the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, and they performed their service according to their order.

בֶּן־מַחְלִי֙ בֶּן־מוּשִׁ֔י בֶּן־מְרָרִ֖י בֶּן־לֵוִֽי׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'acheyhe֖m haleviyּi֑m netuni֕ym leka֨l-'aboda֔t mishshekּa֖n bּe֥yt ha'elohiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And these are the ones who ministered with their sons: Of the sons of the Kohathites were Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

וַאֲחֵיהֶ֖ם הַלְוִיִּ֑ם נְתוּנִ֕ים לְכָ֨ל־עֲבוֹדַ֔ת מִשְׁכַּ֖ן בֵּ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veֽ'aharo֨n ubana֜yv maqetiyri֨ym 'al-mizebּa֤ch haֽ'olah֙ ve'al-mizebּa֣ch haqּeto֔ret leko֕l mele֖'ket qo֣deshsh haqּodashshi֑ym ulekapּer֙ 'al-yishsera'e֔l kּekol֙ 'ashshe֣r tziua֔h moshshe֖h 'e֥bed ha'elohiֽym׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,

וְֽאַהֲרֹ֨ן וּבָנָ֜יו מַקְטִירִ֨ים עַל־מִזְבַּ֤ח הָֽעוֹלָה֙ וְעַל־מִזְבַּ֣ח הַקְּטֹ֔רֶת לְכֹ֕ל מְלֶ֖אכֶת קֹ֣דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁ֑ים וּלְכַפֵּר֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כְּכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֔ה מֹשֶׁ֖ה עֶ֥בֶד הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'e֖lּeh bּene֣y 'aharo֑n 'ele'aza֥r bּen֛o pּiֽynecha֥s bּen֖o 'abiyshsh֥u'a bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,

וְאֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֣י אַהֲרֹ֑ן אֶלְעָזָ֥ר בְּנ֛וֹ פִּֽינְחָ֥ס בְּנ֖וֹ אֲבִישׁ֥וּעַ בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּuqּi֥y ben֛o 'uzּi֥y ben֖o zeraֽcheya֥h benֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,

בֻּקִּ֥י בְנ֛וֹ עֻזִּ֥י בְנ֖וֹ זְרַֽחְיָ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): meray֥ot bּen֛o 'amareya֥h ben֖o 'achiyt֥ub bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,

מְרָי֥וֹת בְּנ֛וֹ אֲמַרְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ אֲחִיט֥וּב בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tzad֥oq bּen֖o 'achiyma֥'atz bּenֽo׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

צָד֥וֹק בְּנ֖וֹ אֲחִימַ֥עַץ בְּנֽוֹ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'e֨lּeh֙ moshshebota֔m letiyrota֖m bּigebula֑m libene֤y 'aharon֙ lemishshepּacha֣t haqּehati֔y kּi֥y lahe֖m haya֥h hagּoraֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And his brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand, was Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,

וְאֵ֨לֶּה֙ מוֹשְׁבוֹתָ֔ם לְטִירוֹתָ֖ם בִּגְבוּלָ֑ם לִבְנֵ֤י אַהֲרֹן֙ לְמִשְׁפַּחַ֣ת הַקְּהָתִ֔י כִּ֥י לָהֶ֖ם הָיָ֥ה הַגּוֹרָֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vaֽyּitּen֥u lahe֛m 'et-cheber֖on bּe'e֣retz yehuda֑h ve'et-migerashshe֖yha sebiyboteֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah,

וַֽיִּתְּנ֥וּ לָהֶ֛ם אֶת־חֶבְר֖וֹן בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֑ה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֖יהָ סְבִיבֹתֶֽיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-shsede֥h ha'i֖yr ve'et-chatzere֑yha naten֖u lekale֥b bּen-yepunּeֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,

וְאֶת־שְׂדֵ֥ה הָעִ֖יר וְאֶת־חֲצֵרֶ֑יהָ נָתְנ֖וּ לְכָלֵ֥ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): velibene֣y 'aharo֗n natenu֙ 'et-'are֣y hamּiqela֔t 'et-cheber֥on ve'et-libena֖h ve'et-migerashshe֑yha ve'et-yatּi֥r ve'eֽt-'eshshetּemo֖'a ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,

וְלִבְנֵ֣י אַהֲרֹ֗ן נָתְנוּ֙ אֶת־עָרֵ֣י הַמִּקְלָ֔ט אֶת־חֶבְר֥וֹן וְאֶת־לִבְנָ֖ה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־יַתִּ֥ר וְאֶֽת־אֶשְׁתְּמֹ֖עַ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-chiylez֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha 'et-dּebi֖yr ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.

וְאֶת־חִילֵז֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ אֶת־דְּבִ֖יר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-'ashshan֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-bּe֥yt shshe֖meshsh ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Their brothers, the sons of Merari, on the left hand, were Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

וְאֶת־עָשָׁן֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־בֵּ֥ית שֶׁ֖מֶשׁ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): umimּatּe֣h bineyami֗n 'et-gּe֤ba ve'et-migerashshe֨yha֙ ve'et-'ale֣met ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-'anat֖ot ve'et-migerashshe֑yha kּal-'areyhe֛m shsheloshsh-'eshsere֥h 'i֖yr bּemishshepּechoteyheֽm׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,

וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה בִנְיָמִ֗ן אֶת־גֶּ֤בַע וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֨יהָ֙ וְאֶת־עָלֶ֣מֶת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־עֲנָת֖וֹת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ כָּל־עָרֵיהֶ֛ם שְׁלֹשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה עִ֖יר בְּמִשְׁפְּחוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): velibene֨y qeha֜t hanּotari֗ym mimּishshepּa֣chat hamּatּe֡h miֽ֠mּachatziyt matּe֨h chatzi֧y menashshּe֛h bּagּora֖l 'ari֥ym 'aֽshser׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,

וְלִבְנֵ֨י קְהָ֜ת הַנּוֹתָרִ֗ים מִמִּשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמַּטֶּ֡ה מִֽ֠מַּחֲצִית מַטֵּ֨ה חֲצִ֧י מְנַשֶּׁ֛ה בַּגּוֹרָ֖ל עָרִ֥ים עָֽשֶׂר׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): velibene֨y gereshsh֜om lemishshepּechota֗m mimּatּe֣h yi֠shsashkar umimּatּe֨h 'ashshe֜r umimּatּe֣h napetּali֗y umimּatּe֤h menashshּeh֙ bּabּashsha֔n 'ari֖ym shshelo֥shsh 'eshsereֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

וְלִבְנֵ֨י גֵרְשׁ֜וֹם לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָ֗ם מִמַּטֵּ֣ה יִ֠שָׂשכָר וּמִמַּטֵּ֨ה אָשֵׁ֜ר וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה נַפְתָּלִ֗י וּמִמַּטֵּ֤ה מְנַשֶּׁה֙ בַּבָּשָׁ֔ן עָרִ֖ים שְׁלֹ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): libene֨y merari֜y lemishshepּechota֗m mimּatּe֣h re֠'uben uֽmimּatּeh-ga֞d umimּatּe֤h zebulun֙ bּagּora֔l 'ari֖ym shshetּe֥ym 'eshsereֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And their brothers the Levites were appointed to every kind of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

לִבְנֵ֨י מְרָרִ֜י לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָ֗ם מִמַּטֵּ֣ה רְ֠אוּבֵן וּֽמִמַּטֵּה־גָ֞ד וּמִמַּטֵּ֤ה זְבוּלֻן֙ בַּגּוֹרָ֔ל עָרִ֖ים שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּitּen֥u beney-yishsera'e֖l laleviyּi֑m 'et-he'ari֖ym ve'et-migereshsheyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But Aaron and his sons offered sacrifices on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense, for all the work of the Most Holy Place, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

וַיִּתְּנ֥וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לַלְוִיִּ֑ם אֶת־הֶעָרִ֖ים וְאֶת־מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּitּen֣u bagּora֗l mimּatּe֤h beney-yehudah֙ umimּatּe֣h beney-shshime'֔on umimּatּe֖h bּene֣y bineyami֑n 'e֚t he'ari֣ym ha'e֔lּeh 'ashsher-yiqere'֥u 'etehe֖m bּeshshemֽot׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Now these are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,

וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ בַגּוֹרָ֗ל מִמַּטֵּ֤ה בְנֵי־יְהוּדָה֙ וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה בְנֵי־שִׁמְע֔וֹן וּמִמַּטֵּ֖ה בְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֑ן אֵ֚ת הֶעָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה אֲשֶׁר־יִקְרְא֥וּ אֶתְהֶ֖ם בְּשֵׁמֽוֹת׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): umiֽmּishshepּech֖ot bּene֣y qeha֑t vayehiy֙ 'are֣y gebula֔m mimּatּe֖h 'eperaֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,

וּמִֽמִּשְׁפְּח֖וֹת בְּנֵ֣י קְהָ֑ת וַיְהִי֙ עָרֵ֣י גְבוּלָ֔ם מִמַּטֵּ֖ה אֶפְרָֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּitּen֨u lahe֜m 'et-'are֧y hamּiqela֛t 'et-shsheke֥m ve'et-migerashshe֖yha bּeha֣r 'epera֑yim ve'et-gּe֖zer ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,

וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ לָהֶ֜ם אֶת־עָרֵ֧י הַמִּקְלָ֛ט אֶת־שְׁכֶ֥ם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֖יהָ בְּהַ֣ר אֶפְרָ֑יִם וְאֶת־גֶּ֖זֶר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'eֽt-yaqeme'am֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-bּe֥yt chor֖on ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Zadok his son, and Ahimaaz his son.

וְאֶֽת־יָקְמְעָם֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־בֵּ֥ית חוֹר֖וֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-'ayּalon֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-gּat-rimּ֖on ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)Now these are their dwelling places throughout their settlements in their territory, for the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, for the lot was theirs:

וְאֶת־אַיָּלוֹן֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־גַּת־רִמּ֖וֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): umiֽmּachatziyt֙ matּe֣h menashshּe֔h 'et-'aner֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-bּile'a֖m ve'et-migerashshe֑yha lemishshepּa֥chat libeney-qeha֖t hanּotariֽym׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, with its common-lands around it;

וּמִֽמַּחֲצִית֙ מַטֵּ֣ה מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה אֶת־עָנֵר֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־בִּלְעָ֖ם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ לְמִשְׁפַּ֥חַת לִבְנֵי־קְהָ֖ת הַנּוֹתָרִֽים׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): libeney֮ gּereshshom֒ mimּishshepּa֗chat chatziy֙ matּe֣h menashshּe֔h 'et-gּola֥n bּabּashsha֖n ve'et-migerashshe֑yha ve'et-'ashshetּar֖ot ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)but the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

לִבְנֵי֮ גֵּרְשׁוֹם֒ מִמִּשְׁפַּ֗חַת חֲצִי֙ מַטֵּ֣ה מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה אֶת־גּוֹלָ֥ן בַּבָּשָׁ֖ן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־עַשְׁתָּר֖וֹת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): umimּatּe֣h yishsashka֔r 'et-qe֖deshsh ve'et-migerashshe֑yha 'et-dּabera֖t ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge: Hebron, Libnah with its common-lands, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its common-lands,

וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה יִשָׂשכָ֔ר אֶת־קֶ֖דֶשׁ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ אֶת־דָּבְרַ֖ת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-ra'mot֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-'ane֖m ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Hilen with its common-lands, Debir with its common-lands,

וְאֶת־רָאמוֹת֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־עָנֵ֖ם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): umimּatּe֣h 'ashshe֔r 'et-mashsha֖l ve'et-migerashshe֑yha ve'et-'abedּ֖on ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Ashan with its common-lands, and Beth-Shemesh with its common-lands.

וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה אָשֵׁ֔ר אֶת־מָשָׁ֖ל וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־עַבְדּ֖וֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-chuqoq֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-recho֖b ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And out of the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its common-lands, Alemeth with its common-lands, and Anathoth with its common-lands. All their cities among their families were thirteen cities.

וְאֶת־חוּקֹק֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־רְחֹ֖ב וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umimּatּe֣h napetּali֗y 'et-qe֤deshsh bּagּaliyl֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-chamּ֖on ve'et-migerashshe֑yha ve'et-qireyata֖yim ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)To the rest of the sons of Kohath, ten cities were given by lot from the family of the tribe, from the half-tribe of Manasseh.

וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה נַפְתָּלִ֗י אֶת־קֶ֤דֶשׁ בַּגָּלִיל֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־חַמּ֖וֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־קִרְיָתַ֖יִם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): libene֣y merariy֮ hanּotariym֒ mimּatּe֣h zebulu֔n 'et-rimּon֖o ve'et-migerashshe֑yha 'et-tּab֖or ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And to the sons of Gershom, throughout their families, they gave thirteen cities from the tribe of Issachar, from the tribe of Asher, from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.

לִבְנֵ֣י מְרָרִי֮ הַנּוֹתָרִים֒ מִמַּטֵּ֣ה זְבוּלֻ֔ן אֶת־רִמּוֹנ֖וֹ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ אֶת־תָּב֖וֹר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ume'e֜ber leyaredּe֣n yerecho֮ lemizera֣ch hayּaredּen֒ mimּatּe֣h re'ube֔n 'et-bּe֥tzer bּamּidebּa֖r ve'et-migerashshe֑yha ve'et-ya֖hetzah ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)To the sons of Merari, throughout their families, they gave twelve cities by lot from the tribe of Reuben, from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun.

וּמֵעֵ֜בֶר לְיַרְדֵּ֣ן יְרֵחוֹ֮ לְמִזְרַ֣ח הַיַּרְדֵּן֒ מִמַּטֵּ֣ה רְאוּבֵ֔ן אֶת־בֶּ֥צֶר בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־יַ֖הְצָה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-qedemot֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-meypa֖'at ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So the children of Israel gave these cities with their common-lands to the Levites.

וְאֶת־קְדֵמוֹת֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־מֵיפַ֖עַת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umi֨mּatּeh-ga֔d 'et-ra'm֥ot bּagּile'a֖d ve'et-migerashshe֑yha ve'eֽt-machana֖yim ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And they gave by lot from the tribe of the children of Judah, from the tribe of the children of Simeon, and from the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities which are mentioned by name.

וּמִ֨מַּטֵּה־גָ֔ד אֶת־רָאמ֥וֹת בַּגִּלְעָ֖ד וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶֽת־מַחֲנַ֖יִם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-cheshshebּon֙ ve'et-migerashshe֔yha ve'et-ya'eze֖yr ve'et-migerashsheֽyha׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Now some of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their territory from the tribe of Ephraim.

וְאֶת־חֶשְׁבּוֹן֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־יַעְזֵ֖יר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ס
