Chapter 4
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֨'ashs֙ mizebּa֣ch necho֔shshet 'eshseri֤ym 'amּah֙ 'arekּ֔o ve'eshseri֥ym 'amּa֖h rachebּ֑o ve'e֥shser 'amּ֖ot qomatֽo׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)Moreover he made a bronze altar, twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and ten cubits high.

וַיַּ֨עַשׂ֙ מִזְבַּ֣ח נְחֹ֔שֶׁת עֶשְׂרִ֤ים אַמָּה֙ אָרְכּ֔וֹ וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים אַמָּ֖ה רָחְבּ֑וֹ וְעֶ֥שֶׂר אַמּ֖וֹת קוֹמָתֽוֹ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'ashs 'et-hayּa֖m mutza֑q 'e֣shser bּaֽ֠'amּah mishsּepat֨o 'el-shsepat֜o 'ag֣ol ׀ sabi֗yb vechame֤shsh bּaֽ'amּah֙ qֽomat֔o veqav֙ shsheloshshi֣ym bּaֽ'amּa֔h yaso֥b 'ot֖o sabiֽyb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he made the Sea of cast bronze, ten cubits from one brim to the other; it was completely round. Its height was five cubits, and a line of thirty cubits measured its circumference.

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ אֶת־הַיָּ֖ם מוּצָ֑ק עֶ֣שֶׂר בָּֽ֠אַמָּה מִשְּׂפָת֨וֹ אֶל־שְׂפָת֜וֹ עָג֣וֹל ׀ סָבִ֗יב וְחָמֵ֤שׁ בָּֽאַמָּה֙ קֽוֹמָת֔וֹ וְקָו֙ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה יָסֹ֥ב אֹת֖וֹ סָבִֽיב׃

3
Phonetic (Hebrew): udem֣ut bּeqariym֩ tּa֨chat l֜o sabi֤yb ׀ sabiyb֙ sobebi֣ym 'ot֔o 'e֚shser bּaֽ'amּa֔h maqּiypi֥ym 'et-hayּa֖m sabi֑yb shshena֤yim turiym֙ habּaqa֔r yetzuqi֖ym bּemuֽtzaqetּֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)And under it were figures like oxen all around, ten to a cubit, encircling the Sea all around. The oxen were cast in two rows when it was cast.

וּדְמ֣וּת בְּקָרִים֩ תַּ֨חַת ל֜וֹ סָבִ֤יב ׀ סָבִיב֙ סוֹבְבִ֣ים אֹת֔וֹ עֶ֚שֶׂר בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה מַקִּיפִ֥ים אֶת־הַיָּ֖ם סָבִ֑יב שְׁנַ֤יִם טוּרִים֙ הַבָּקָ֔ר יְצוּקִ֖ים בְּמֻֽצַקְתּֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ome֞d 'al-shshene֧ym 'ashsa֣r bּaqa֗r shsheloshsha֣h poni֣ym ׀ tzap֡onah ushsheloshshah֩ poni֨ym ׀ ya֜mּah ushsheloshsha֣h ׀ pּoni֣ym ne֗gebּah ushsheloshshah֙ pּoni֣ym mizera֔chah vehayּa֥m 'aleyhe֖m milema֑'elah vekal-'achoreyhe֖m bּaֽyetah׃
Edified Edition (EDE)It stood on twelve oxen: three looking toward the north, three looking toward the west, three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east; the Sea was set upon them, and all their back parts pointed inward.

עוֹמֵ֞ד עַל־שְׁנֵ֧ים עָשָׂ֣ר בָּקָ֗ר שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה פֹנִ֣ים ׀ צָפ֡וֹנָה וּשְׁלוֹשָׁה֩ פֹנִ֨ים ׀ יָ֜מָּה וּשְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה ׀ פֹּנִ֣ים נֶ֗גְבָּה וּשְׁלֹשָׁה֙ פֹּנִ֣ים מִזְרָ֔חָה וְהַיָּ֥ם עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם מִלְמָ֑עְלָה וְכָל־אֲחֹרֵיהֶ֖ם בָּֽיְתָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'abey֣o te֔pach ushsepato֙ kּema'ashse֣h shsepat-kּ֔os pּe֖rach shshֽoshshanּa֑h machazi֣yq bּatּi֔ym shshelo֥shshet 'alapi֖ym yakiֽyl׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)It was a handbreadth thick; and its brim was shaped like the brim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It held three thousand baths.

וְעָבְי֣וֹ טֶ֔פַח וּשְׂפָתוֹ֙ כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה שְׂפַת־כּ֔וֹס פֶּ֖רַח שֽׁוֹשַׁנָּ֑ה מַחֲזִ֣יק בַּתִּ֔ים שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֖ים יָכִֽיל׃ס

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֣'ashs kּiyּoriym֮ 'ashsarah֒ va֠yּitּen chamishshּa֨h miyּami֜yn vachamishshּa֤h mishsּemo'vl֙ lerachetza֣h bahe֔m 'et-ma'ashse֥h ha'ola֖h yadi֣ychu ba֑m vehayּa֕m lerachetza֥h lakּohani֖ym bּֽo׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)He also made ten lavers, and put five on the right side and five on the left, to wash in them; such things as they offered for the burnt offering they washed in them, but the Sea was for the priests to wash in.

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ כִּיּוֹרִים֮ עֲשָׂרָה֒ וַ֠יִּתֵּן חֲמִשָּׁ֨ה מִיָּמִ֜ין וַחֲמִשָּׁ֤ה מִשְּׂמֹאול֙ לְרָחְצָ֣ה בָהֶ֔ם אֶת־מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה הָעוֹלָ֖ה יָדִ֣יחוּ בָ֑ם וְהַיָּ֕ם לְרָחְצָ֥ה לַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים בּֽוֹ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): va֠yּa'ashs 'et-menor֧ot hazּaha֛b 'e֖shser kּemishshepּata֑m vayּitּen֙ bּaֽheyka֔l chame֥shsh miyּami֖yn vechame֥shsh mishsּemoֽ'vl׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)And he made ten lampstands of gold according to their design, and set them in the temple, five on the right side and five on the left.

וַ֠יַּעַשׂ אֶת־מְנֹר֧וֹת הַזָּהָ֛ב עֶ֖שֶׂר כְּמִשְׁפָּטָ֑ם וַיִּתֵּן֙ בַּֽהֵיכָ֔ל חָמֵ֥שׁ מִיָּמִ֖ין וְחָמֵ֥שׁ מִשְּׂמֹֽאול׃ס

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֣'ashs shshulechanot֮ 'ashsarah֒ vayּanּach֙ bּaֽheyka֔l chamishshּa֥h miyּami֖yn vachamishshּa֣h mishsּemo֑'vl vayּa֛'ashs mizereqe֥y zaha֖b me'aֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He also made ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side and five on the left. And he made one hundred bowls of gold.

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ שֻׁלְחָנוֹת֮ עֲשָׂרָה֒ וַיַּנַּח֙ בַּֽהֵיכָ֔ל חֲמִשָּׁ֥ה מִיָּמִ֖ין וַחֲמִשָּׁ֣ה מִשְּׂמֹ֑אול וַיַּ֛עַשׂ מִזְרְקֵ֥י זָהָ֖ב מֵאָֽה׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֨'ashs֙ chatza֣r hakּohani֔ym veha'azara֖h hagּedola֑h udelat֧ot la'azara֛h vedaletoteyhe֖m tzipּa֥h nechoֽshshet׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Furthermore he made the court of the priests, and the great court and doors for the court; and he overlaid the doors with bronze.

וַיַּ֨עַשׂ֙ חֲצַ֣ר הַכֹּהֲנִ֔ים וְהָעֲזָרָ֖ה הַגְּדוֹלָ֑ה וּדְלָת֧וֹת לָעֲזָרָ֛ה וְדַלְתוֹתֵיהֶ֖ם צִפָּ֥ה נְחֹֽשֶׁת׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-hayּa֗m nata֞n mikּe֧tep hayemani֛yt qe֖demah mimּ֥ul neֽgebּah׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He set the Sea on the right side, toward the southeast.

וְאֶת־הַיָּ֗ם נָתַ֞ן מִכֶּ֧תֶף הַיְמָנִ֛ית קֵ֖דְמָה מִמּ֥וּל נֶֽגְבָּה׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֣'ashs chura֔m 'et-ha֨sּiyr֔ot ve'et-hayּa'i֖ym ve'et-hamּizeraq֑ot s vayeka֣l chyrm chura֗m la'ashsot֙ 'et-hamּela'ka֔h 'ashshe֥r 'ashsa֛h lamּe֥leke shshelomo֖h bּebe֥yt ha'elohiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Huram made the pots and the shovels and the bowls. So Huram finished doing the work that he was to do for King Solomon for the house of God:

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ חוּרָ֔ם אֶת־הַ֨סִּיר֔וֹת וְאֶת־הַיָּעִ֖ים וְאֶת־הַמִּזְרָק֑וֹת ס וַיְכַ֣ל חירם חוּרָ֗ם לַעֲשׂוֹת֙ אֶת־הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֛ה לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה בְּבֵ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): amּudi֣ym shshena֔yim vehagּulּ֧ot vehakּotar֛ot 'al-ro֥'shsh ha'amּudi֖ym shshetּa֑yim vehashsּebak֣ot shshetּa֔yim lekasּ֗ot 'et-shshetּey֙ gּulּ֣ot hakּoֽtar֔ot 'ashshe֖r 'al-ro֥'shsh haֽ'amּudiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the two pillars and the bowl-shaped capitals that were on top of the two pillars; the two networks to cover the two bowl-shaped capitals which were on top of the pillars;

עַמּוּדִ֣ים שְׁנַ֔יִם וְהַגֻּלּ֧וֹת וְהַכֹּתָר֛וֹת עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ הָעַמּוּדִ֖ים שְׁתָּ֑יִם וְהַשְּׂבָכ֣וֹת שְׁתַּ֔יִם לְכַסּ֗וֹת אֶת־שְׁתֵּי֙ גֻּלּ֣וֹת הַכֹּֽתָר֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ הָֽעַמּוּדִֽים׃

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-haֽrimּoni֛ym 'arebּa֥ me'֖ot lishshetּe֣y hashsּebak֑ot shshena֨yim turi֤ym rimּoniym֙ lashsּebaka֣h ha'echa֔t lekasּ֗ot 'et-shshetּey֙ gּulּ֣ot hakּoֽtar֔ot 'ashshe֖r 'al-pּene֥y ha'amּudiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)four hundred pomegranates for the two networks (two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowl-shaped capitals which were on the pillars);

וְאֶת־הָֽרִמּוֹנִ֛ים אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת לִשְׁתֵּ֣י הַשְּׂבָכ֑וֹת שְׁנַ֨יִם טוּרִ֤ים רִמּוֹנִים֙ לַשְּׂבָכָ֣ה הָאֶחָ֔ת לְכַסּ֗וֹת אֶת־שְׁתֵּי֙ גֻּלּ֣וֹת הַכֹּֽתָר֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הָעַמּוּדִֽים׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-hamּekon֖ot 'ashsa֑h ve'et-hakּiyּor֥ot 'ashsa֖h 'al-hamּekonֽot׃
Edified Edition (EDE)he also made carts and the lavers on the carts;

וְאֶת־הַמְּכֹנ֖וֹת עָשָׂ֑ה וְאֶת־הַכִּיֹּר֥וֹת עָשָׂ֖ה עַל־הַמְּכֹנֽוֹת׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): et-hayּa֖m 'echa֑d ve'et-habּaqa֥r shsheneym-'ashsa֖r tּachetּaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the one Sea and twelve oxen under it;

אֶת־הַיָּ֖ם אֶחָ֑ד וְאֶת־הַבָּקָ֥ר שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֖ר תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-ha֠sּiyrot ve'et-hayּa'i֤ym ve'et-hamּizelagot֙ ve'et-kּal-kּeleyhe֔m 'ashsa֞h chura֥m 'abi֛yv lamּe֥leke shshelomo֖h lebe֣yt yehva֑h necho֖shshet marֽuq׃
Edified Edition (EDE)also the pots, the shovels, the forks, and all their articles Huram-Abi made of polished bronze for King Solomon for the house of the LORD.

וְאֶת־הַ֠סִּירוֹת וְאֶת־הַיָּעִ֤ים וְאֶת־הַמִּזְלָגוֹת֙ וְאֶת־כָּל־כְּלֵיהֶ֔ם עָשָׂ֞ה חוּרָ֥ם אָבִ֛יו לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה לְבֵ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה נְחֹ֖שֶׁת מָרֽוּק׃

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּekikּa֤r hayּaredּen֙ yetzaqa֣m hamּe֔leke bּa'abi֖y ha'adama֑h bּe֥yn sukּ֖ot ube֥yn tzeredaֽtah׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the plain of Jordan the king had them cast in clay moulds, between Succoth and Zeredah.

בְּכִכַּ֤ר הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ יְצָקָ֣ם הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ בַּעֲבִ֖י הָאֲדָמָ֑ה בֵּ֥ין סֻכּ֖וֹת וּבֵ֥ין צְרֵדָֽתָה׃

18
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֧'ashs shshelomo֛h kּal-hakּeli֥ym ha'e֖lּeh laro֣b me'o֑d kּi֛y lo֥ necheqa֖r mishsheqa֥l hanּechoֽshshet׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)And Solomon made all these articles in such great abundance that the weight of the bronze was not determined.

וַיַּ֧עַשׂ שְׁלֹמֹ֛ה כָּל־הַכֵּלִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה לָרֹ֣ב מְאֹ֑ד כִּ֛י לֹ֥א נֶחְקַ֖ר מִשְׁקַ֥ל הַנְּחֹֽשֶׁת׃פ

19
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֣'ashs shshelomo֔h 'e֚t kּal-hakּeli֔ym 'ashshe֖r bּe֣yt ha'elohi֑ym ve'et֙ mizebּa֣ch hazּaha֔b ve'et-hashshּulechan֔ot va'aleyhe֖m le֥chem hapּaniֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Thus Solomon had all the furnishings made for the house of God: the altar of gold and the tables on which was the showbread;

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אֵ֚ת כָּל־הַכֵּלִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר בֵּ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְאֵת֙ מִזְבַּ֣ח הַזָּהָ֔ב וְאֶת־הַשֻּׁלְחָנ֔וֹת וַעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם לֶ֥חֶם הַפָּנִֽים׃

20
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-hamּenor֞ot veneroteyhe֗m leba'ara֧m kּamּishshepּa֛t lipene֥y hadּebi֖yr zaha֥b sagֽur׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the lampstands with their lamps of pure gold, to burn in the prescribed manner before the inner sanctuary;

וְאֶת־הַמְּנֹר֞וֹת וְנֵרֹתֵיהֶ֗ם לְבַעֲרָ֧ם כַּמִּשְׁפָּ֛ט לִפְנֵ֥י הַדְּבִ֖יר זָהָ֥ב סָגֽוּר׃

21
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehapּe֧rach vehanּer֛ot vehamּeleqacha֖yim zaha֑b h֖u mikel֥ot zahaֽb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)with the flowers and the lamps and the tongs of gold, of purest gold;

וְהַפֶּ֧רַח וְהַנֵּר֛וֹת וְהַמֶּלְקַחַ֖יִם זָהָ֑ב ה֖וּא מִכְל֥וֹת זָהָֽב׃

22
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaֽmezamּer֧ot vehamּizeraq֛ot vehakּapּ֥ot vehamּachetּ֖ot zaha֣b sag֑ur upe֣tach ha֠bּayit dּaletota֨yv hapּeniymiyּ֜ot leqo֣deshsh haqּodashshi֗ym vedalete֥y habּa֛yit laheyka֖l zahaֽb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)and the wick-trimmers, the bowls, the ladles, and the censers of pure gold. As for the entry of the sanctuary, its inner doors to the Most Holy Place, and the doors of the main hall of the temple, were of gold.

וְהַֽמְזַמְּר֧וֹת וְהַמִּזְרָק֛וֹת וְהַכַּפּ֥וֹת וְהַמַּחְתּ֖וֹת זָהָ֣ב סָג֑וּר וּפֶ֣תַח הַ֠בַּיִת דַּלְתוֹתָ֨יו הַפְּנִימִיּ֜וֹת לְקֹ֣דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁ֗ים וְדַלְתֵ֥י הַבַּ֛יִת לַהֵיכָ֖ל זָהָֽב׃
