Chapter 14
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּishshena֣t shshetּa֔yim leyo'a֥shsh bּen-yo'acha֖z me֣leke yishsera'e֑l mala֛ke 'amatzeya֥hu ben-yo'a֖shsh me֥leke yehudaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the second year of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel, Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah began to reign.

בִּשְׁנַ֣ת שְׁתַּ֔יִם לְיוֹאָ֥שׁ בֶּן־יוֹאָחָ֖ז מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מָלַ֛ךְ אֲמַצְיָ֥הוּ בֶן־יוֹאָ֖שׁ מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה׃

2
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-'eshseri֨ym vechame֤shsh shshanah֙ haya֣h bemalek֔o ve'eshseri֤ym vate֨shsha'֙ shshana֔h mala֖ke bּiyrushshala֑im veshshe֣m 'imּ֔o yhv'dyn yehֽo'adּa֖n min-yerushshalaiֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan; she was from Jerusalem.

בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְחָמֵ֤שׁ שָׁנָה֙ הָיָ֣ה בְמָלְכ֔וֹ וְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים וָתֵ֨שַׁע֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ יהועדין יְהֽוֹעַדָּ֖ן מִן־יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

3
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֤'ashs hayּashshar֙ bּe'eyne֣y yehva֔h ra֕q lo֖ kּedavi֣d 'abi֑yv kּeko֧l 'ashsher-'ashsa֛h yo'a֥shsh 'abi֖yv 'ashsaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash.

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ הַיָּשָׁר֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה רַ֕ק לֹ֖א כְּדָוִ֣ד אָבִ֑יו כְּכֹ֧ל אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֛ה יוֹאָ֥שׁ אָבִ֖יו עָשָֽׂה׃

4
Phonetic (Hebrew): ra֥q habּam֖ot lo'-sa֑ru '֥od ha'a֛m mezabּechi֥ym uֽmeqatּeri֖ym bּabּamֽot׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

רַ֥ק הַבָּמ֖וֹת לֹא־סָ֑רוּ ע֥וֹד הָעָ֛ם מְזַבְּחִ֥ים וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים בַּבָּמֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayehi֕y kּa'ashshe֛r chazeqa֥h hamּamelaka֖h bּeyad֑o vayּake֙ 'et-'abada֔yv hamּakּi֖ym 'et-hamּe֥leke 'abiֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)After the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, he executed the officials who had murdered his father the king.

וַיְהִ֕י כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר חָזְקָ֥ה הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה בְּיָד֑וֹ וַיַּךְ֙ אֶת־עֲבָדָ֔יו הַמַּכִּ֖ים אֶת־הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ אָבִֽיו׃

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-bּene֥y hamּakּi֖ym lo֣ hemi֑yt kּakּat֣ub bּese֣per tּֽorat-mo֠shsheh 'ashsher-tziua֨h yehva֜h le'mo֗r lo'-yumet֨u 'ab֤ot 'al-bּaniym֙ ubaniym֙ lo'-yumet֣u 'al-'ab֔ot kּi֛y 'im-'i֥yshsh bּechete'֖o ymvt yumaֽt׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Yet he did not put the children of the assassins to death, in accordance with what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses where the LORD commanded: 'Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.'

וְאֶת־בְּנֵ֥י הַמַּכִּ֖ים לֹ֣א הֵמִ֑ית כַּכָּת֣וּב בְּסֵ֣פֶר תּֽוֹרַת־מֹ֠שֶׁה אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֨ה יְהוָ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר לֹא־יוּמְת֨וּ אָב֤וֹת עַל־בָּנִים֙ וּבָנִים֙ לֹא־יוּמְת֣וּ עַל־אָב֔וֹת כִּ֛י אִם־אִ֥ישׁ בְּחֶטְא֖וֹ ימות יוּמָֽת׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): hu'-hikּa֨h 'et-'ed֤om bּegey'-hmlch me֨lach֙ 'ashse֣ret 'alapi֔ym vetapa֥shs 'et-hasּe֖la bּamּilechama֑h vayּiqera֤ 'et-shshemahּ֙ yaqete'e֔l 'a֖d hayּ֥om hazּeֽh׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)He was the one who defeated ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt and captured Sela in battle, calling it Joktheel, as it is called to this day.

הוּא־הִכָּ֨ה אֶת־אֱד֤וֹם בְּגֵיא־המלח מֶ֨לַח֙ עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת אֲלָפִ֔ים וְתָפַ֥שׂ אֶת־הַסֶּ֖לַע בַּמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וַיִּקְרָ֤א אֶת־שְׁמָהּ֙ יָקְתְאֵ֔ל עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃פ

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): a֣z shshala֤ch 'amatzeyah֙ male'aki֔ym 'el-yeho'a֨shsh bּen-yeho'acha֧z bּen-yeh֛u me֥leke yishsera'e֖l le'mo֑r leka֖h nitera'e֥h paniֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Nimshi, king of Israel, with the challenge: 'Come, let us meet face to face!'

אָ֣ז שָׁלַ֤ח אֲמַצְיָה֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל־יְהוֹאָ֨שׁ בֶּן־יְהוֹאָחָ֧ז בֶּן־יֵה֛וּא מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר לְכָ֖ה נִתְרָאֶ֥ה פָנִֽים׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishshela֞ch yeho'a֣shsh meֽleke-yishsera'e֗l 'el-'amatzeya֣hu meֽleke-yehudah֮ le'mor֒ hach֜ocha 'ashshe֣r bּalּeban֗on shsha֠lach 'el-ha'e֜rez 'ashshe֤r bּalּebanon֙ le'mo֔r tּenaֽh-'et-bּitּeka֥ libeni֖y le'ishshּa֑h vaֽtּa'abo֞r chayּa֤t hashsּadeh֙ 'ashshe֣r bּalּeban֔on vatּiremo֖s 'et-hachֽocha׃
Edified Edition (EDE)But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: 'A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, "Give your daughter to my son in marriage." Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle underfoot.'

וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח יְהוֹאָ֣שׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶל־אֲמַצְיָ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה֮ לֵאמֹר֒ הַח֜וֹחַ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּלְּבָנ֗וֹן שָׁ֠לַח אֶל־הָאֶ֜רֶז אֲשֶׁ֤ר בַּלְּבָנוֹן֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר תְּנָֽה־אֶת־בִּתְּךָ֥ לִבְנִ֖י לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַֽתַּעֲבֹ֞ר חַיַּ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּלְּבָנ֔וֹן וַתִּרְמֹ֖ס אֶת־הַחֽוֹחַ׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): hakּe֤h hikּi֨yta֙ 'et-'ed֔om uֽneshsa'aka֖ libּe֑ka hikּabed֙ veshshe֣b bּebeyte֔ka vela֤mּah titegּareh֙ bּera'a֔h vena֣paletּa֔h 'atּa֖h viyhuda֥h 'imּaֽke׃
Edified Edition (EDE)'You have indeed defeated Edom and now you are proud. Glory in your victory, but stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?'

הַכֵּ֤ה הִכִּ֨יתָ֙ אֶת־אֱד֔וֹם וּֽנְשָׂאֲךָ֖ לִבֶּ֑ךָ הִכָּבֵד֙ וְשֵׁ֣ב בְּבֵיתֶ֔ךָ וְלָ֤מָּה תִתְגָּרֶה֙ בְּרָעָ֔ה וְנָ֣פַלְתָּ֔ה אַתָּ֖ה וִיהוּדָ֥ה עִמָּֽךְ׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): velo'-shshama֣ 'amatzeya֔hu vayּa֨'al yeho'a֤shsh meֽleke-yishsera'el֙ vayּitera'֣u pani֔ym h֖u va'amatzeya֣hu meֽleke-yehuda֑h bּebe֥yt shshe֖meshsh 'ashshe֥r liyhudaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Amaziah, however, would not listen, so Jehoash king of Israel attacked. He and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth Shemesh in Judah.

וְלֹא־שָׁמַ֣ע אֲמַצְיָ֔הוּ וַיַּ֨עַל יְהוֹאָ֤שׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיִּתְרָא֣וּ פָנִ֔ים ה֖וּא וַאֲמַצְיָ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֑ה בְּבֵ֥ית שֶׁ֖מֶשׁ אֲשֶׁ֥ר לִיהוּדָֽה׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּinּa֥gep yehuda֖h lipene֣y yishsera'e֑l vayּanu֖su 'i֥yshsh l'hlv le'ohalaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Judah was routed by Israel, and every man fled to his home.

וַיִּנָּ֥גֶף יְהוּדָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ אִ֥ישׁ לאהלו לְאֹהָלָֽיו׃

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et֩ 'amatzeya֨hu meֽleke-yehuda֜h bּen-yeho'a֣shsh bּen-'achazeya֗hu tּapa֛shs yeho'a֥shsh meֽleke-yishsera'e֖l bּebe֣yt shsha֑meshsh vyb'v vayּabo'֙ yer֣ushshalai֔m vayּiperotz֩ bּechoma֨t yerushshalai֜m bּeshsha֤'ar 'epera֨yim֙ 'ad-shsha֣'ar hapּinּa֔h 'arebּa֥ me'֖ot 'amּaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash went to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate, a section about four hundred cubits long.

וְאֵת֩ אֲמַצְיָ֨הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֜ה בֶּן־יְהוֹאָ֣שׁ בֶּן־אֲחַזְיָ֗הוּ תָּפַ֛שׂ יְהוֹאָ֥שׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּבֵ֣ית שָׁ֑מֶשׁ ויבאו וַיָּבֹא֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם וַיִּפְרֹץ֩ בְּחוֹמַ֨ת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם בְּשַׁ֤עַר אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ עַד־שַׁ֣עַר הַפִּנָּ֔ה אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת אַמָּֽה׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqa֣ch 'et-kּal-hazּahab-ve֠hakּesep ve'e֨t kּal-hakּeli֜ym hanּimetze'i֣ym bּeyt-yehva֗h ube'oֽtzerot֙ bּe֣yt hamּe֔leke ve'e֖t bּene֣y hatּaֽ'arub֑ot vayּa֖shshab shshomerֽonah׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the temple of the LORD and in the treasuries of the royal palace. He also took hostages and returned to Samaria.

וְלָקַ֣ח אֶת־כָּל־הַזָּהָב־וְ֠הַכֶּסֶף וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־הַכֵּלִ֜ים הַנִּמְצְאִ֣ים בֵּית־יְהוָ֗ה וּבְאֹֽצְרוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְאֵ֖ת בְּנֵ֣י הַתַּֽעֲרֻב֑וֹת וַיָּ֖שָׁב שֹׁמְרֽוֹנָה׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): veyeter֩ dּibere֨y yeho'a֜shsh 'ashshe֤r 'ashsah֙ ugeb֣urat֔o va'ashshe֣r nilecha֔m 'i֖m 'amatzeya֣hu meֽleke-yehuda֑h halo'-he֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)As for the other events of the reign of Jehoash, what he did and his achievements, including his war against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

וְיֶתֶר֩ דִּבְרֵ֨י יְהוֹאָ֜שׁ אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשָׂה֙ וּגְב֣וּרָת֔וֹ וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר נִלְחַ֔ם עִ֖ם אֲמַצְיָ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֑ה הֲלֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishshekּa֤b yeho'ashsh֙ 'im-'abota֔yv vayּiqּaber֙ bּeshsho֣mer֔on 'i֖m maleke֣y yishsera'e֑l vayּimelo֛ke yarabe'a֥m bּen֖o tּachetּaֽyv׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Jehoash rested with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. And Jeroboam his son succeeded him as king.

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב יְהוֹאָשׁ֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵר֙ בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן עִ֖ם מַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ יָרָבְעָ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃פ

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayechi֨y 'amatzeya֤hu ben-yo'ashsh֙ me֣leke yehuda֔h 'aֽchare֣y m֔ot yeho'a֥shsh bּen-yehֽo'acha֖z me֣leke yishsera'e֑l chame֥shsh 'eshsere֖h shshanaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.

וַיְחִ֨י אֲמַצְיָ֤הוּ בֶן־יוֹאָשׁ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה אַֽחֲרֵ֣י מ֔וֹת יְהוֹאָ֥שׁ בֶּן־יְהֽוֹאָחָ֖ז מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל חֲמֵ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָֽה׃

18
Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֖ter dּibere֣y 'amatzeya֑hu halo'-he֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yehudaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)As for the other events of Amaziah’s reign, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

וְיֶ֖תֶר דִּבְרֵ֣י אֲמַצְיָ֑הוּ הֲלֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃

19
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqeshsher֨u 'ala֥yv qe֛shsher bּiyrushshala֖im vayּa֣nas laki֑yshshah vayּishshelech֤u 'aֽcharayv֙ laki֔yshshah vayemitu֖hu shshaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)They conspired against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent men after him to Lachish and killed him there.

וַיִּקְשְׁר֨וּ עָלָ֥יו קֶ֛שֶׁר בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וַיָּ֣נָס לָכִ֑ישָׁה וַיִּשְׁלְח֤וּ אַֽחֲרָיו֙ לָכִ֔ישָׁה וַיְמִתֻ֖הוּ שָֽׁם׃

20
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishse'֥u 'ot֖o 'al-hasּusi֑ym vayּiqּabe֧r bּiyrushshala֛im 'im-'abota֖yv bּe'i֥yr dּaviֽd׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He was brought back by horse and was buried in Jerusalem with his ancestors, in the City of David.

וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ עַל־הַסּוּסִ֑ים וַיִּקָּבֵ֧ר בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם עִם־אֲבֹתָ֖יו בְּעִ֥יר דָּוִֽד׃

21
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqech֞u kּal-'a֤m yehudah֙ 'et-'azareya֔h veh֕u bּen-shshe֥shsh 'eshsere֖h shshana֑h vayּameli֣ku 'ot֔o tּa֖chat 'abi֥yv 'amatzeyaֽhu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.

וַיִּקְח֞וּ כָּל־עַ֤ם יְהוּדָה֙ אֶת־עֲזַרְיָ֔ה וְה֕וּא בֶּן־שֵׁ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָ֑ה וַיַּמְלִ֣כוּ אֹת֔וֹ תַּ֖חַת אָבִ֥יו אֲמַצְיָֽהוּ׃

22
Phonetic (Hebrew): h֚u bּana֣h 'et-'eyla֔t vayeshshibe֖ha liֽyhuda֑h 'achare֥y shshekaֽb-hamּe֖leke 'im-'abotaֽyv׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)He was the one who rebuilt Elath and restored it to Judah after Amaziah rested with his ancestors.

ה֚וּא בָּנָ֣ה אֶת־אֵילַ֔ת וַיְשִׁבֶ֖הָ לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה אַחֲרֵ֥י שְׁכַֽב־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עִם־אֲבֹתָֽיו׃פ

23
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּishshenat֙ chameshsh-'eshsere֣h shshana֔h la'amatzeya֥hu ben-yo'a֖shsh me֣leke yehuda֑h ma֠lake yarabe'a֨m bּen-yo'a֤shsh meֽleke-yishsera'el֙ bּeshsho֣mer֔on 'arebּa'i֥ym ve'acha֖t shshanaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the fifteenth year of Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam son of Jehoash king of Israel became king in Samaria, and he reigned forty-one years.

בִּשְׁנַת֙ חֲמֵשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה שָׁנָ֔ה לַאֲמַצְיָ֥הוּ בֶן־יוֹאָ֖שׁ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ יָרָבְעָ֨ם בֶּן־יוֹאָ֤שׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וְאַחַ֖ת שָׁנָֽה׃

24
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'ashs hara֖ bּe'eyne֣y yehva֑h lo֣ sa֗r mikּal-chatּo'vt֙ yarabe'a֣m bּen-neba֔t 'ashshe֥r hecheti֖y 'et-yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He did evil in the eyes of the LORD and did not turn away from any of the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לֹ֣א סָ֗ר מִכָּל־חַטֹּאות֙ יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

25
Phonetic (Hebrew): h֗u heshshiyb֙ 'et-gּeb֣ul yishsera'e֔l milּeb֥o chama֖t 'ad-ya֣m ha'araba֑h kּideba֤r yehvah֙ 'elohe֣y yishsera'e֔l 'ashshe֣r dּibּe֗r bּeyad-'abedּ֞o yona֤h ben-'amitּay֙ hanּabi֔y 'ashshe֖r migּa֥t hacheֽper׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He was the one who restored the boundaries of Israel from Lebo Hamath to the Dead Sea, in accordance with the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath Hepher.

ה֗וּא הֵשִׁיב֙ אֶת־גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִלְּב֥וֹא חֲמָ֖ת עַד־יָ֣ם הָעֲרָבָ֑ה כִּדְבַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֗ר בְּיַד־עַבְדּ֞וֹ יוֹנָ֤ה בֶן־אֲמִתַּי֙ הַנָּבִ֔יא אֲשֶׁ֖ר מִגַּ֥ת הַחֵֽפֶר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy-ra'a֧h yehva֛h 'et-'oni֥y yishsera'e֖l more֣h me'o֑d ve'e֤pes 'atzur֙ ve'e֣pes 'az֔ub ve'e֥yn 'oze֖r leyishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the LORD had seen how bitterly everyone in Israel, whether slave or free, was suffering; there was no one to help them.

כִּי־רָאָ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־עֳנִ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֹרֶ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד וְאֶ֤פֶס עָצוּר֙ וְאֶ֣פֶס עָז֔וּב וְאֵ֥ין עֹזֵ֖ר לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

27
Phonetic (Hebrew): velo'-dibּe֣r yehva֔h limechot֙ 'et-shshe֣m yishsera'e֔l mitּa֖chat hashshּama֑yim vayּ֣oshshiy'e֔m bּeya֖d yarabe'a֥m bּen-yo'aֽshsh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)And since the LORD had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.

וְלֹא־דִבֶּ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה לִמְחוֹת֙ אֶת־שֵׁ֣ם יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִתַּ֖חַת הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וַיּ֣וֹשִׁיעֵ֔ם בְּיַ֖ד יָרָבְעָ֥ם בֶּן־יוֹאָֽשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veyeter֩ dּibere֨y yarabe'a֜m vekal-'ashshe֤r 'ashsah֙ ugeburat֣o 'ashsher-nilecha֔m va'ashshe֨r heshshi֜yb 'et-dּamּe֧shseq ve'et-chama֛t liyhuda֖h bּeyishsera'e֑l halo'-he֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)As for the other events of Jeroboam’s reign, all he did and his achievements, including how he recovered for Israel both Damascus and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

וְיֶתֶר֩ דִּבְרֵ֨י יָרָבְעָ֜ם וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשָׂה֙ וּגְבוּרָת֣וֹ אֲשֶׁר־נִלְחָ֔ם וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר הֵשִׁ֜יב אֶת־דַּמֶּ֧שֶׂק וְאֶת־חֲמָ֛ת לִיהוּדָ֖ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל הֲלֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishshekּa֤b yaֽrabe'am֙ 'im-'abota֔yv 'i֖m maleke֣y yishsera'e֑l vayּimelo֛ke zekareya֥h ben֖o tּachetּaֽyv׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Jeroboam rested with his ancestors, the kings of Israel. And Zechariah his son succeeded him as king.

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב יָֽרָבְעָם֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו עִ֖ם מַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ זְכַרְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃פ
