Chapter 15
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּishshena֨t 'eshseri֤ym vashshe֨ba'֙ shshana֔h leyarabe'a֖m me֣leke yishsera'e֑l mala֛ke 'azareya֥h ben-'amatzeya֖h me֥leke yehudaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah began to reign.

בִּשְׁנַ֨ת עֶשְׂרִ֤ים וָשֶׁ֨בַע֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לְיָרָבְעָ֖ם מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מָלַ֛ךְ עֲזַרְיָ֥ה בֶן־אֲמַצְיָ֖ה מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-shshe֨shsh 'eshsere֤h shshanah֙ haya֣h bemalek֔o vachamishshּi֤ym ushshetּa֨yim֙ shshana֔h mala֖ke bּiyrushshala֑im veshshe֣m 'imּ֔o yekaleya֖hu miyrushshalaiֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for fifty-two years. His mother’s name was Jekoliah; she was from Jerusalem.

בֶּן־שֵׁ֨שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֤ה שָׁנָה֙ הָיָ֣ה בְמָלְכ֔וֹ וַחֲמִשִּׁ֤ים וּשְׁתַּ֨יִם֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ יְכָלְיָ֖הוּ מִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

3
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'ashs hayּashsha֖r bּe'eyne֣y yehva֑h kּeko֥l 'ashsher-'ashsa֖h 'amatzeya֥hu 'abiֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Amaziah had done.

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הַיָּשָׁ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֖ה אֲמַצְיָ֥הוּ אָבִֽיו׃

4
Phonetic (Hebrew): ra֥q habּam֖ot lo'-sa֑ru '֥od ha'a֛m mezabּechi֥ym uֽmeqatּeri֖ym bּabּamֽot׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

רַ֥ק הַבָּמ֖וֹת לֹא־סָ֑רוּ ע֥וֹד הָעָ֛ם מְזַבְּחִ֥ים וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים בַּבָּמֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayenagּa֨ yehva֜h 'et-hamּe֗leke vayehi֤y metzora'֙ 'ad-y֣om mot֔o vayּe֖shsheb bּebe֣yt hachapeshshi֑yt veyota֤m bּen-hamּe֨leke֙ 'al-habּa֔yit shshope֖t 'et-'a֥m ha'aֽretz׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the LORD afflicted the king with leprosy until the day he died, and he lived in a separate house. Jotham the king’s son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.

וַיְנַגַּ֨ע יְהוָ֜ה אֶת־הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ וַיְהִ֤י מְצֹרָע֙ עַד־י֣וֹם מֹת֔וֹ וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב בְּבֵ֣ית הַחָפְשִׁ֑ית וְיוֹתָ֤ם בֶּן־הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ עַל־הַבַּ֔יִת שֹׁפֵ֖ט אֶת־עַ֥ם הָאָֽרֶץ׃

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֛ter dּibere֥y 'azareya֖hu vekal-'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֑h halo'-he֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yehudaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)As for the other events of Azariah’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

וְיֶ֛תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י עֲזַרְיָ֖הוּ וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הֲלֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishshekּa֤b 'azareyah֙ 'im-'abota֔yv vayּiqebּer֥u 'ot֛o 'im-'abota֖yv bּe'i֣yr dּavi֑d vayּimelo֛ke yota֥m bּen֖o tּachetּaֽyv׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Azariah rested with his ancestors and was buried near them in the City of David. And Jotham his son succeeded him as king.

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב עֲזַרְיָה֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ אֹת֛וֹ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֖יו בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֑ד וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ יוֹתָ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃פ

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּishshena֨t shsheloshshi֤ym ushshemoneh֙ shshana֔h la'azareya֖hu me֣leke yehuda֑h ma֠lake zekareya֨hu ben-yarabe'a֧m 'al-yishsera'e֛l bּeshshomer֖on shshishshּa֥h chodashshiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned six months.

בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּשְׁמֹנֶה֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לַעֲזַרְיָ֖הוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ זְכַרְיָ֨הוּ בֶן־יָרָבְעָ֧ם עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן שִׁשָּׁ֥ה חֳדָשִֽׁים׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֤'ashs hara'֙ bּe'eyne֣y yehva֔h kּa'ashshe֥r 'ashs֖u 'abota֑yv lo֣ sa֗r meֽchatּo'vt֙ yarabe'a֣m bּen-neba֔t 'ashshe֥r hecheti֖y 'et-yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as his ancestors had done. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ הָרַע֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשׂ֖וּ אֲבֹתָ֑יו לֹ֣א סָ֗ר מֵֽחַטֹּאות֙ יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqeshsho֤r 'alayv֙ shshalּu֣m bּen-yabe֔shsh vayּakּe֥hu qaֽbale-'a֖m vayemiyte֑hu vayּimelo֖ke tּachetּaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah. He attacked him in front of the people, assassinated him and succeeded him as king.

וַיִּקְשֹׁ֤ר עָלָיו֙ שַׁלֻּ֣ם בֶּן־יָבֵ֔שׁ וַיַּכֵּ֥הוּ קָֽבָלְ־עָ֖ם וַיְמִיתֵ֑הוּ וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֖ter dּibere֣y zekareya֑h hinּa֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The other events of Zechariah’s reign are written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel.

וְיֶ֖תֶר דִּבְרֵ֣י זְכַרְיָ֑ה הִנָּ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): h֣u debar-yehva֗h 'ashshe֨r dּibּe֤r 'el-yehu'֙ le'mo֔r bּene֣y rebiy'i֔ym yeshsheb֥u leka֖ 'al-kּisּe֣ yishsera'e֑l vֽayehiy-keֽn׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)So the word of the LORD spoken to Jehu was fulfilled: 'Your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.'

ה֣וּא דְבַר־יְהוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֤ר אֶל־יֵהוּא֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר בְּנֵ֣י רְבִיעִ֔ים יֵשְׁב֥וּ לְךָ֖ עַל־כִּסֵּ֣א יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽיְהִי־כֵֽן׃פ

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): shshalּ֤um bּen-yabeyshsh֙ mala֔ke bּishshena֨t shsheloshshi֤ym vate֨shsha'֙ shshana֔h le'uziyּa֖h me֣leke yehuda֑h vayּimelo֥ke yeֽrach-yami֖ym bּeshshomerֽon׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigned in Samaria for one month.

שַׁלּ֤וּם בֶּן־יָבֵישׁ֙ מָלַ֔ךְ בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וָתֵ֨שַׁע֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לְעֻזִיָּ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ יֶֽרַח־יָמִ֖ים בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa'al֩ menache֨m bּen-gּadi֜y mitּiretza֗h vayּabo'֙ shshomer֔on vayּa֛ke 'et-shshalּ֥um bּen-yabe֖yshsh bּeshshomer֑on vayemiyte֖hu vayּimelo֥ke tּachetּaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Menahem son of Gadi went from Tirzah up to Samaria. He attacked Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria, assassinated him and succeeded him as king.

וַיַּעַל֩ מְנַחֵ֨ם בֶּן־גָּדִ֜י מִתִּרְצָ֗ה וַיָּבֹא֙ שֹׁמְר֔וֹן וַיַּ֛ךְ אֶת־שַׁלּ֥וּם בֶּן־יָבֵ֖ישׁ בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן וַיְמִיתֵ֖הוּ וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֨ter֙ dּibere֣y shshalּ֔um veqishsher֖o 'ashshe֣r qashsha֑r hinּa֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yishsera'eֽl׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)The other events of Shallum’s reign, and the conspiracy he led, are written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel.

וְיֶ֨תֶר֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י שַׁלּ֔וּם וְקִשְׁר֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָשָׁ֑ר הִנָּ֣ם כְּתֻבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): a֣z yakּeֽh-me֠nachem 'et-tּipesa֨ch ve'et-kּal-'ashsher-bּa֤hּ ve'et-gּebule֨yha֙ mitּiretza֔h kּi֛y lo֥ pata֖ch vayּa֑ke 'e֛t kּal-heha֥rote֖yha bּiqּeֽ'a׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)At that time Menahem, starting out from Tirzah, attacked Tiphsah and everyone in the city and its vicinity, because they refused to open their gates. He sacked Tiphsah and ripped open all the pregnant women.

אָ֣ז יַכֶּֽה־מְ֠נַחֵם אֶת־תִּפְסַ֨ח וְאֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֤הּ וְאֶת־גְּבוּלֶ֨יהָ֙ מִתִּרְצָ֔ה כִּ֛י לֹ֥א פָתַ֖ח וַיַּ֑ךְ אֵ֛ת כָּל־הֶהָ֥רוֹתֶ֖יהָ בִּקֵּֽעַ׃פ

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּishshena֨t shsheloshshi֤ym vate֨shsha'֙ shshana֔h la'azareya֖h me֣leke yehuda֑h ma֠lake menache֨m bּen-gּadi֧y 'al-yishsera'e֛l 'e֥shser shshani֖ym bּeshshomerֽon׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria for ten years.

בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וָתֵ֨שַׁע֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ מְנַחֵ֨ם בֶּן־גָּדִ֧י עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל עֶ֥שֶׂר שָׁנִ֖ים בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

18
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'ashs hara֖ bּe'eyne֣y yehva֑h lo֣ sa֠r me'a֨l chatּo֜'vt yarabe'a֧m bּen-neba֛t 'ashsher-hecheti֥y 'et-yishsera'e֖l kּal-yamaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He did evil in the eyes of the LORD. Throughout his reign he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לֹ֣א סָ֠ר מֵעַ֨ל חַטֹּ֜אות יָרָבְעָ֧ם בֶּן־נְבָ֛ט אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱטִ֥יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כָּל־יָמָֽיו׃

19
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּa֣ p֤ul meֽleke-'ashshּur֙ 'al-ha'a֔retz vayּitּe֤n menachem֙ lep֔ul 'e֖lep kּikּar-kּa֑sep lihey֤ot yadayv֙ 'itּ֔o lehachazi֥yq hamּamelaka֖h bּeyadֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Pul king of Assyria invaded the land, and Menahem gave him a thousand talents of silver to gain his support and strengthen his own hold on the kingdom.

בָּ֣א פ֤וּל מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּר֙ עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ וַיִּתֵּ֤ן מְנַחֵם֙ לְפ֔וּל אֶ֖לֶף כִּכַּר־כָּ֑סֶף לִהְי֤וֹת יָדָיו֙ אִתּ֔וֹ לְהַחֲזִ֥יק הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה בְּיָדֽוֹ׃

20
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּotze'֩ menache֨m 'et-hakּe֜sep 'al-yishsera'e֗l 'a֚l kּal-gּibּore֣y hacha֔yil latet֙ leme֣leke 'ashshּ֔ur chamishshּi֧ym shsheqali֛ym kּe֖sep le'i֣yshsh 'echa֑d vayּa֨shshab֙ me֣leke 'ashshּ֔ur velo'-'a֥mad shsha֖m bּa'aֽretz׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Menahem exacted this money from Israel. Every wealthy person had to contribute fifty shekels of silver to be given to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and stayed no longer in the land.

וַיֹּצֵא֩ מְנַחֵ֨ם אֶת־הַכֶּ֜סֶף עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל עַ֚ל כָּל־גִּבּוֹרֵ֣י הַחַ֔יִל לָתֵת֙ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר חֲמִשִּׁ֧ים שְׁקָלִ֛ים כֶּ֖סֶף לְאִ֣ישׁ אֶחָ֑ד וַיָּ֨שָׁב֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר וְלֹא־עָ֥מַד שָׁ֖ם בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

21
Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֛ter dּibere֥y menache֖m vekal-'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֑h halo'-he֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)As for the other events of Menahem’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

וְיֶ֛תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י מְנַחֵ֖ם וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הֲלוֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishshekּa֥b menache֖m 'im-'abota֑yv vayּimelo֛ke pּeqacheya֥h ben֖o tּachetּaֽyv׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Menahem rested with his ancestors. And Pekahiah his son succeeded him as king.

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב מְנַחֵ֖ם עִם־אֲבֹתָ֑יו וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ פְּקַחְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃פ

23
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּishshenat֙ chamishshּi֣ym shshana֔h la'azareya֖h me֣leke yehuda֑h ma֠lake pּeqaֽcheya֨h ben-menache֧m 'al-yishsera'e֛l bּeshshomer֖on shshenataֽyim׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned two years.

בִּשְׁנַת֙ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה לַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ פְּקַֽחְיָ֨ה בֶן־מְנַחֵ֧ם עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן שְׁנָתָֽיִם׃

24
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'ashs hara֖ bּe'eyne֣y yehva֑h lo֣ sa֗r meֽchatּo'vt֙ yarabe'a֣m bּen-neba֔t 'ashshe֥r hecheti֖y 'et-yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Pekahiah did evil in the eyes of the LORD. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לֹ֣א סָ֗ר מֵֽחַטֹּאות֙ יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

25
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqeshsho֣r 'alayv֩ pּe֨qach bּen-remaleya֜hu shshaliyshsh֗o vayּakּe֨hu beshshomer֜on bּe'arem֤on bּeyt-mlk hamּe֨leke֙ 'et-'aregּo֣b ve'et-ha'areye֔h ve'imּ֛o chamishshּi֥ym 'i֖yshsh mibּene֣y gile'adi֑ym vayemiyte֖hu vayּimelo֥ke tּachetּaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)One of his chief officers, Pekah son of Remaliah, conspired against him. Taking fifty men of Gilead with him, he assassinated Pekahiah, along with Argob and Arieh, in the citadel of the royal palace at Samaria. So Pekah killed Pekahiah and succeeded him as king.

וַיִּקְשֹׁ֣ר עָלָיו֩ פֶּ֨קַח בֶּן־רְמַלְיָ֜הוּ שָׁלִישׁ֗וֹ וַיַּכֵּ֨הוּ בְשֹׁמְר֜וֹן בְּאַרְמ֤וֹן בֵּית־מלך הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ אֶת־אַרְגֹּ֣ב וְאֶת־הָאַרְיֵ֔ה וְעִמּ֛וֹ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים אִ֖ישׁ מִבְּנֵ֣י גִלְעָדִ֑ים וַיְמִיתֵ֖הוּ וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

26
Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֛ter dּibere֥y peqacheya֖h vekal-'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֑h hinּa֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yishsera'eֽl׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)The other events of Pekahiah’s reign, and all he did, are written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel.

וְיֶ֛תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י פְקַחְיָ֖ה וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הִנָּ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃פ

27
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּishshena֨t chamishshּi֤ym ushshetּa֨yim֙ shshana֔h la'azareya֖h me֣leke yehuda֑h ma֠lake pּe֣qach bּen-remaleya֧hu 'al-yishsera'e֛l bּeshshomer֖on 'eshseri֥ym shshanaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the fifty-second year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned twenty years.

בִּשְׁנַ֨ת חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים וּשְׁתַּ֨יִם֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ פֶּ֣קַח בֶּן־רְמַלְיָ֧הוּ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'ashs hara֖ bּe'eyne֣y yehva֑h lo֣ sa֗r min-chatּo'vt֙ yarabe'a֣m bּen-neba֔t 'ashshe֥r hecheti֖y 'et-yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He did evil in the eyes of the LORD. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לֹ֣א סָ֗ר מִן־חַטֹּאות֙ יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּiyme֞y pּe֣qach meֽleke-yishsera'e֗l bּa'֮ tּigela֣t pּile'eser֮ me֣leke 'ashshּur֒ vayּiqּa֣ch 'et-'iyּ֡on ve'et-'abe֣l bּeֽyt-ma'aka֡h ve'et-ya֠nocha ve'et-qe֨deshsh ve'et-chatz֤or ve'et-hagּile'ad֙ ve'et-hagּali֔ylah kּo֖l 'e֣retz napetּali֑y vayּagele֖m 'ashshּֽurah׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the time of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and captured Ijon, Abel Beth Maakah, Janoah, Kedesh and Hazor. He took Gilead and Galilee, including all the land of Naphtali, and deported the people to Assyria.

בִּימֵ֞י פֶּ֣קַח מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל בָּא֮ תִּגְלַ֣ת פִּלְאֶסֶר֮ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁוּר֒ וַיִּקַּ֣ח אֶת־עִיּ֡וֹן וְאֶת־אָבֵ֣ל בֵּֽית־מַעֲכָ֡ה וְאֶת־יָ֠נוֹחַ וְאֶת־קֶ֨דֶשׁ וְאֶת־חָצ֤וֹר וְאֶת־הַגִּלְעָד֙ וְאֶת־הַגָּלִ֔ילָה כֹּ֖ל אֶ֣רֶץ נַפְתָּלִ֑י וַיַּגְלֵ֖ם אַשּֽׁוּרָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqeshshar-qe֜shsher hoshshe֣'a bּen-'ela֗h 'al-pּe֨qach֙ bּen-remaleya֔hu vayּakּe֨hu֙ vayemiyte֔hu vayּimelo֖ke tּachetּa֑yv bּishshena֣t 'eshseri֔ym leyota֖m bּen-'uziyּaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Hoshea son of Elah conspired against Pekah son of Remaliah. He attacked and assassinated him, and then succeeded him as king in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah.

וַיִּקְשָׁר־קֶ֜שֶׁר הוֹשֵׁ֣עַ בֶּן־אֵלָ֗ה עַל־פֶּ֨קַח֙ בֶּן־רְמַלְיָ֔הוּ וַיַּכֵּ֨הוּ֙ וַיְמִיתֵ֔הוּ וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ תַּחְתָּ֑יו בִּשְׁנַ֣ת עֶשְׂרִ֔ים לְיוֹתָ֖ם בֶּן־עֻזִיָּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֥ter dּiberey-pe֖qach vekal-'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֑h hinּa֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yishsera'eֽl׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)As for the other events of Pekah’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

וְיֶ֥תֶר דִּבְרֵי־פֶ֖קַח וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הִנָּ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּishshena֣t shshetּa֔yim lepe֥qach bּen-remaleya֖hu me֣leke yishsera'e֑l mala֛ke yota֥m bּen-'uziyּa֖hu me֥leke yehudaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah began to reign.

בִּשְׁנַ֣ת שְׁתַּ֔יִם לְפֶ֥קַח בֶּן־רְמַלְיָ֖הוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מָלַ֛ךְ יוֹתָ֥ם בֶּן־עֻזִיָּ֖הוּ מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה׃

33
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-'eshseri֨ym vechame֤shsh shshanah֙ haya֣h bemalek֔o veshsheshsh-'eshsere֣h shshana֔h mala֖ke bּiyrushshala֑im veshshe֣m 'imּ֔o yerushsha֖ bּat-tzadֽoq׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.

בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְחָמֵ֤שׁ שָׁנָה֙ הָיָ֣ה בְמָלְכ֔וֹ וְשֵׁשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ יְרוּשָׁ֖א בַּת־צָדֽוֹק׃

34
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'ashs hayּashsha֖r bּe'eyne֣y yehva֑h kּeko֧l 'ashsher-'ashsa֛h 'uziyּa֥hu 'abi֖yv 'ashsaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done.

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הַיָּשָׁ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כְּכֹ֧ל אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֛ה עֻזִיָּ֥הוּ אָבִ֖יו עָשָֽׂה׃

35
Phonetic (Hebrew): ra֤q habּamot֙ lo֣ sa֔ru '֗od ha'a֛m mezabּechi֥ym uֽmeqatּeri֖ym bּabּam֑ot h֗u bּana֛h 'et-shsha֥'ar bּeyt-yehva֖h ha'eleyֽon׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there. Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the LORD.

רַ֤ק הַבָּמוֹת֙ לֹ֣א סָ֔רוּ ע֗וֹד הָעָ֛ם מְזַבְּחִ֥ים וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים בַּבָּמ֑וֹת ה֗וּא בָּנָ֛ה אֶת־שַׁ֥עַר בֵּית־יְהוָ֖ה הָעֶלְיֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֛ter dּibere֥y yota֖m 'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֑h halo'-he֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֛per dּibere֥y hayּami֖ym lemaleke֥y yehudaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)As for the other events of Jotham’s reign, and what he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּayּami֣ym hahe֔m heche֣l yehva֗h lehashsheli֨ycha֙ bּiֽyhuda֔h retzi֖yn me֣leke 'ara֑m ve'e֖t pּe֥qach bּen-remaleyaֽhu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)(In those days the LORD began to send Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.)

בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם הֵחֵ֣ל יְהוָ֗ה לְהַשְׁלִ֨יחַ֙ בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה רְצִ֖ין מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֑ם וְאֵ֖ת פֶּ֥קַח בֶּן־רְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishshekּa֤b yotam֙ 'im-'abota֔yv vayּiqּaber֙ 'im-'abota֔yv bּe'i֖yr dּavi֣d 'abi֑yv vayּimelo֛ke 'acha֥z bּen֖o tּachetּaֽyv׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. And Ahaz his son succeeded him as king.

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב יוֹתָם֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵר֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו בְּעִ֖יר דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑יו וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אָחָ֥ז בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃פ
