Chapter 3

Phonetic (Hebrew): vanּe֣pen vanּa֔'al dּe֖reke habּashsha֑n vayּetze֣ 'og֩ meֽleke-habּashsha֨n liqera'te֜nu h֧u vekal-'amּ֛o lamּilechama֖h 'edereֽ'iy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Next we turned and went up along the road toward Bashan, and Og king of Bashan and his whole army marched out to meet us in battle at Edrei.

וַנֵּ֣פֶן וַנַּ֔עַל דֶּ֖רֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֑ן וַיֵּצֵ֣א עוֹג֩ מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֨ן לִקְרָאתֵ֜נוּ ה֧וּא וְכָל־עַמּ֛וֹ לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה אֶדְרֶֽעִי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֨'mer yehva֤h 'elay֙ 'al-tּiyra֣ 'ot֔o kּi֣y beyadeka֞ nata֧tּiy 'ot֛o ve'et-kּal-'amּ֖o ve'et-'aretz֑o ve'ashsi֣yta lּ֔o kּa'ashshe֣r 'ashsi֗yta lesiychon֙ me֣leke haֽ'emori֔y 'ashshe֥r yoshshe֖b bּecheshshebּֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD said to me, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon."

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֵלַי֙ אַל־תִּירָ֣א אֹת֔וֹ כִּ֣י בְיָדְךָ֞ נָתַ֧תִּי אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת־כָּל־עַמּ֖וֹ וְאֶת־אַרְצ֑וֹ וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ לּ֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֗יתָ לְסִיחֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּחֶשְׁבּֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּitּen֩ yehva֨h 'elohe֜ynu bּeyade֗nu gּa֛m 'et-'֥og meֽleke-habּashsha֖n ve'et-kּal-'amּ֑o vanּakּe֕hu 'ad-bּiletּi֥y hishshe'iֽyr-l֖o shsariֽyd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So the LORD our God also gave into our hands Og king of Bashan and all his army. We struck them down, leaving no survivors.

וַיִּתֵּן֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֜ינוּ בְּיָדֵ֗נוּ גַּ֛ם אֶת־ע֥וֹג מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֖ן וְאֶת־כָּל־עַמּ֑וֹ וַנַּכֵּ֕הוּ עַד־בִּלְתִּ֥י הִשְׁאִֽיר־ל֖וֹ שָׂרִֽיד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vanּilekּo֤d 'et-kּal-'arayv֙ bּa'e֣t hahi֔v lo֤ haֽyetah֙ qireya֔h 'ashshe֥r lo'-laqa֖chenu meֽ'itּa֑m shshishshּi֥ym 'iyr֙ kּal-che֣bel 'aregּo֔b mamele֥ket '֖og bּabּashshaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)At that time we took all his cities. There was not one of the sixty cities that we did not take from them, the whole region of Argob, Og's kingdom in Bashan.

וַנִּלְכֹּ֤ד אֶת־כָּל־עָרָיו֙ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔וא לֹ֤א הָֽיְתָה֙ קִרְיָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־לָקַ֖חְנוּ מֵֽאִתָּ֑ם שִׁשִּׁ֥ים עִיר֙ כָּל־חֶ֣בֶל אַרְגֹּ֔ב מַמְלֶ֥כֶת ע֖וֹג בַּבָּשָֽׁן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּal-'e֜lּeh 'ari֧ym bּetzur֛ot choma֥h geboha֖h dּelata֣yim uberi֑ycha leba֛d me'are֥y hapּerazi֖y harebּe֥h me'oֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)All these cities were fortified with high walls and with gates and bars, and there were also a great many unwalled villages.

כָּל־אֵ֜לֶּה עָרִ֧ים בְּצֻר֛וֹת חוֹמָ֥ה גְבֹהָ֖ה דְּלָתַ֣יִם וּבְרִ֑יחַ לְבַ֛ד מֵעָרֵ֥י הַפְּרָזִ֖י הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vanּachare֣m 'ota֔m kּa'ashshe֣r 'ashsi֔ynu lesiycho֖n me֣leke cheshshebּ֑on hacharem֙ kּal-'i֣yr meti֔m hanּashshi֖ym vehatּaֽp׃

Edified Edition (EDE)We completely destroyed them, as we had done with Sihon king of Heshbon, destroying every city, men, women and children.

וַנַּחֲרֵ֣ם אוֹתָ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֔ינוּ לְסִיחֹ֖ן מֶ֣לֶךְ חֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן הַחֲרֵם֙ כָּל־עִ֣יר מְתִ֔ם הַנָּשִׁ֖ים וְהַטָּֽף׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vekal-habּehema֛h ushshela֥l he'ari֖ym bּazּ֥onu laֽnu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But all the livestock and the plunder from their cities we carried off for ourselves.

וְכָל־הַבְּהֵמָ֛ה וּשְׁלַ֥ל הֶעָרִ֖ים בַּזּ֥וֹנוּ לָֽנוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vanּiqּa֞ch bּa'e֤t hahiv'֙ 'et-ha'a֔retz miyּa֗d shsheney֙ maleke֣y ha'emori֔y 'ashshe֖r bּe'e֣ber hayּaredּe֑n minּa֥chal 'areno֖n 'ad-ha֥r cheremֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So at that time we took from these two kings of the Amorites the territory east of the Jordan, from the Arnon Gorge as far as Mount Hermon.

וַנִּקַּ֞ח בָּעֵ֤ת הַהִוא֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ מִיַּ֗ד שְׁנֵי֙ מַלְכֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן מִנַּ֥חַל אַרְנֹ֖ן עַד־הַ֥ר חֶרְמֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tziydoni֛ym yiqere'֥u lecherem֖on shsireyo֑n veha֣'emori֔y yiqere'u-l֖o shseniֽyr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)(Hermon is called Sirion by the Sidonians; the Amorites call it Senir.)

צִידֹנִ֛ים יִקְרְא֥וּ לְחֶרְמ֖וֹן שִׂרְיֹ֑ן וְהָ֣אֱמֹרִ֔י יִקְרְאוּ־ל֖וֹ שְׂנִֽיר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֣l ׀ 'are֣y hamּiyshsho֗r vekal-hagּile'ad֙ vekal-habּashsha֔n 'ad-saleka֖h ve'edere֑'iy 'are֛y mamele֥ket '֖og bּabּashshaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)We took all the towns on the plateau, and all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, towns of Og's kingdom in Bashan.

כֹּ֣ל ׀ עָרֵ֣י הַמִּישֹׁ֗ר וְכָל־הַגִּלְעָד֙ וְכָל־הַבָּשָׁ֔ן עַד־סַלְכָ֖ה וְאֶדְרֶ֑עִי עָרֵ֛י מַמְלֶ֥כֶת ע֖וֹג בַּבָּשָֽׁן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֣y raq-'֞og me֣leke habּashsha֗n nishshe'ar֮ miyּe֣ter harepa'iym֒ hinּe֤h 'areshso֙ 'e֣reshs bּareze֔l halo֣h hi֔v bּerabּa֖t bּene֣y 'amּ֑on tּe֧shsha 'amּ֣ot 'arekּa֗hּ ve'arebּa֥ 'amּ֛ot rachebּa֖hּ bּe'amּat-'iֽyshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)(Og king of Bashan was the only survivor of the remnant of the Rephaites. His bed was decorated with iron and was more than thirteen feet long and six feet wide. It is still in Rabbah of the Ammonites.)

כִּ֣י רַק־ע֞וֹג מֶ֣לֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֗ן נִשְׁאַר֮ מִיֶּ֣תֶר הָרְפָאִים֒ הִנֵּ֤ה עַרְשׂוֹ֙ עֶ֣רֶשׂ בַּרְזֶ֔ל הֲלֹ֣ה הִ֔וא בְּרַבַּ֖ת בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן תֵּ֧שַׁע אַמּ֣וֹת אָרְכָּ֗הּ וְאַרְבַּ֥ע אַמּ֛וֹת רָחְבָּ֖הּ בְּאַמַּת־אִֽישׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-ha'a֧retz hazּo֛'t yara֖shshenu bּa'e֣t hahi֑v me'aro'e֞r 'ashsher-'al-na֣chal 'areno֗n vachatzi֤y haֽr-hagּile'ad֙ ve'ara֔yv nata֕tּiy larֽu'ubeni֖y velagּadiֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Of the land that we took over at that time, I gave the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory north of Aroer by the Arnon Gorge, including half the hill country of Gilead, together with its towns.

וְאֶת־הָאָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את יָרַ֖שְׁנוּ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֑וא מֵעֲרֹעֵ֞ר אֲשֶׁר־עַל־נַ֣חַל אַרְנֹ֗ן וַחֲצִ֤י הַֽר־הַגִּלְעָד֙ וְעָרָ֔יו נָתַ֕תִּי לָרֻֽאוּבֵנִ֖י וְלַגָּדִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veye֨ter hagּile'a֤d vekal-habּashshan֙ mamele֣ket '֔og nata֕tּiy lachatzi֖y shshe֣bet haֽmenashshּe֑h kּo֣l che֤bel haֽ'aregּob֙ lekal-habּashsha֔n hah֥u yiqּare֖ 'e֥retz repa'iֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The rest of Gilead and also all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (The whole region of Argob in Bashan used to be known as a land of the Rephaites.

וְיֶ֨תֶר הַגִּלְעָ֤ד וְכָל־הַבָּשָׁן֙ מַמְלֶ֣כֶת ע֔וֹג נָתַ֕תִּי לַחֲצִ֖י שֵׁ֣בֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֑ה כֹּ֣ל חֶ֤בֶל הָֽאַרְגֹּב֙ לְכָל־הַבָּשָׁ֔ן הַה֥וּא יִקָּרֵ֖א אֶ֥רֶץ רְפָאִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ya'i֣yr bּen-menashshּe֗h laqach֙ 'et-kּal-che֣bel 'aregּo֔b 'ad-gּeb֥ul hagּeshshuri֖y vehamּaֽ'akati֑y vayּiqera'֩ 'ota֨m 'al-shshem֤o 'et-habּashshan֙ chauo֣t ya'i֔yr 'a֖d hayּ֥om hazּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maakathites; it was named after him, so that to this day Bashan is called Havvoth Jair.)

יָאִ֣יר בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה לָקַח֙ אֶת־כָּל־חֶ֣בֶל אַרְגֹּ֔ב עַד־גְּב֥וּל הַגְּשׁוּרִ֖י וְהַמַּֽעֲכָתִ֑י וַיִּקְרָא֩ אֹתָ֨ם עַל־שְׁמ֤וֹ אֶת־הַבָּשָׁן֙ חַוֺּ֣ת יָאִ֔יר עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ulemaki֖yr nata֥tּiy 'et-hagּile'aֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And I gave Gilead to Makir.

וּלְמָכִ֖יר נָתַ֥תִּי אֶת־הַגִּלְעָֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): velaru'ubeni֨y velagּadi֜y nata֤tּiy min-hagּile'ad֙ ve'ad-na֣chal 'areno֔n tּ֥oke hanּa֖chal ugebu֑l ve'ad֙ yabּo֣q hanּa֔chal gּeb֖ul bּene֥y 'amּֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the territory extending from Gilead down to the Arnon Gorge (the middle of the gorge being the border) and out to the Jabbok River, which is the border of the Ammonites.

וְלָרֻאוּבֵנִ֨י וְלַגָּדִ֜י נָתַ֤תִּי מִן־הַגִּלְעָד֙ וְעַד־נַ֣חַל אַרְנֹ֔ן תּ֥וֹךְ הַנַּ֖חַל וּגְבֻ֑ל וְעַד֙ יַבֹּ֣ק הַנַּ֔חַל גְּב֖וּל בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaֽ'araba֖h vehayּaredּe֣n ugebu֑l mikּinּe֗ret ve'a֨d ya֤m haֽ'arabah֙ ya֣m hamּe֔lach tּa֛chat 'ashshedּo֥t hapּisegּa֖h mizeraֽchah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Its western border was the Jordan in the Arabah, from KinnerS to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.

וְהָֽעֲרָבָ֖ה וְהַיַּרְדֵּ֣ן וּגְבֻ֑ל מִכִּנֶּ֗רֶת וְעַ֨ד יָ֤ם הָֽעֲרָבָה֙ יָ֣ם הַמֶּ֔לַח תַּ֛חַת אַשְׁדֹּ֥ת הַפִּסְגָּ֖ה מִזְרָֽחָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'atza֣v 'eteke֔m bּa'e֥t hahi֖v le'mo֑r yehva֣h 'eloheyke֗m nata֨n lake֜m 'et-ha'a֤retz hazּo't֙ lerishshetּa֔hּ chalutzi֣ym tּֽa'aber֗u lipene֛y 'acheyke֥m bּeneֽy-yishsera'e֖l kּal-bּeney-chaֽyil׃

Edified Edition (EDE)I commanded you at that time: "The LORD your God has given you this land to take possession of it. But all your able-bodied men, armed for battle, must cross over ahead of the other Israelites.

וָאֲצַ֣ו אֶתְכֶ֔ם בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖וא לֵאמֹ֑ר יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֗ם נָתַ֨ן לָכֶ֜ם אֶת־הָאָ֤רֶץ הַזֹּאת֙ לְרִשְׁתָּ֔הּ חֲלוּצִ֣ים תַּֽעַבְר֗וּ לִפְנֵ֛י אֲחֵיכֶ֥ם בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כָּל־בְּנֵי־חָֽיִל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ra֠q neshsheyke֣m vetapּekem֮ umiqenekem֒ yada֕'etּiy kּiֽy-miqene֥h ra֖b lake֑m yeֽshshebu֙ bּe'a֣reyke֔m 'ashshe֥r nata֖tּiy lakeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)However, your wives, your children and your livestock (I know you have much livestock) may stay in the towns I have given you,

רַ֠ק נְשֵׁיכֶ֣ם וְטַפְּכֶם֮ וּמִקְנֵכֶם֒ יָדַ֕עְתִּי כִּֽי־מִקְנֶ֥ה רַ֖ב לָכֶ֑ם יֵֽשְׁבוּ֙ בְּעָ֣רֵיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לָכֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): a֠d 'ashsher-yani֨ycha yehva֥h ׀ lֽa'acheykem֮ kּakem֒ veyareshsh֣u gam-he֔m 'et-ha'a֕retz 'ashshe֨r yehva֧h 'eloheyke֛m note֥n lahe֖m bּe'e֣ber hayּaredּe֑n veshshabetּe֗m 'i֚yshsh liֽyrushshּat֔o 'ashshe֥r nata֖tּiy lakeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)until the LORD gives rest to your fellow Israelites as he has to you, and they too have taken over the land that the LORD your God is giving them across the Jordan. After that, each of you may return to the possession I have given you."

עַ֠ד אֲשֶׁר־יָנִ֨יחַ יְהוָ֥ה ׀ לַֽאֲחֵיכֶם֮ כָּכֶם֒ וְיָרְשׁ֣וּ גַם־הֵ֔ם אֶת־הָאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֛ם נֹתֵ֥ן לָהֶ֖ם בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן וְשַׁבְתֶּ֗ם אִ֚ישׁ לִֽירֻשָּׁת֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לָכֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-yehoshsh֣u'a tziue֔ytiy bּa'e֥t hahi֖v le'mo֑r 'eyne֣yka haro'o֗t 'et֩ kּal-'ashshe֨r 'ashsa֜h yehva֤h 'eloheykem֙ lishsheney֙ hamּelaki֣ym ha'e֔lּeh kּeֽn-ya'ashse֤h yehvah֙ lekal-hamּamelak֔ot 'ashshe֥r 'atּa֖h 'obe֥r shshaֽmּah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)At that time I commanded Joshua: "You have seen with your own eyes all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings. the LORD will do the same to all the kingdoms over there where you are going.

וְאֶת־יְהוֹשׁ֣וּעַ צִוֵּ֔יתִי בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖וא לֵאמֹ֑ר עֵינֶ֣יךָ הָרֹאֹ֗ת אֵת֩ כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֜ה יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם֙ לִשְׁנֵי֙ הַמְּלָכִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה כֵּֽן־יַעֲשֶׂ֤ה יְהוָה֙ לְכָל־הַמַּמְלָכ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתָּ֖ה עֹבֵ֥ר שָֽׁמָּה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lo֖ tּieyra'֑um kּi֚y yehva֣h 'eloֽheyke֔m h֖u hanּilecha֥m lakeֽm׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you."

לֹ֖א תְִּירָא֑וּם כִּ֚י יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם ה֖וּא הַנִּלְחָ֥ם לָכֶֽם׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'etechanּa֖n 'el-yehva֑h bּa'e֥t hahi֖v le'moֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)At that time I pleaded with the LORD:

וָאֶתְחַנַּ֖ן אֶל־יְהוָ֑ה בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖וא לֵאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): adona֣y yehvi֗h 'atּa֤h haֽchilּ֨ota֙ lehare'֣ot 'eֽt-'abedּeka֔ 'e֨t-gּadeleka֔ ve'et-yadeka֖ hachazaqa֑h 'ashshe֤r miy-'el֙ bּashshּama֣yim uba'a֔retz 'ashsher-ya'ashse֥h kema'ashse֖yka vekigeburoteֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Sovereign the LORD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?

אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֗ה אַתָּ֤ה הַֽחִלּ֨וֹתָ֙ לְהַרְא֣וֹת אֶֽת־עַבְדְּךָ֔ אֶ֨ת־גָּדְלְךָ֔ וְאֶת־יָדְךָ֖ הַחֲזָקָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִי־אֵל֙ בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם וּבָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה כְמַעֲשֶׂ֖יךָ וְכִגְבוּרֹתֶֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): e'ebּerah-nּa֗ ve'ere'eh֙ 'et-ha'a֣retz hatּoba֔h 'ashshe֖r bּe'e֣ber hayּaredּe֑n haha֥r hatּ֛ob hazּe֖h vehalּebanֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, that fine hill country and Lebanon."

אֶעְבְּרָה־נָּ֗א וְאֶרְאֶה֙ אֶת־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַטּוֹבָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן הָהָ֥ר הַטּ֛וֹב הַזֶּ֖ה וְהַלְּבָנֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּite'abּe֨r yehva֥h bּiy֙ lema֣'aneke֔m velo֥ shshama֖ 'ela֑y vayּo֨'mer yehva֤h 'elay֙ rab-la֔ke 'al-tּ֗osep dּabּe֥r 'ela֛y '֖od bּadּaba֥r hazּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But because of you the LORD was angry with me and would not listen to me. "That is enough," the LORD said. "Do not speak to me anymore about this matter.

וַיִּתְעַבֵּ֨ר יְהוָ֥ה בִּי֙ לְמַ֣עַנְכֶ֔ם וְלֹ֥א שָׁמַ֖ע אֵלָ֑י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֵלַי֙ רַב־לָ֔ךְ אַל־תּ֗וֹסֶף דַּבֵּ֥ר אֵלַ֛י ע֖וֹד בַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ale֣h ׀ ro֣'shsh hapּisegּa֗h veshsa֥ 'eyne֛yka ya֧mּah vetzapo֛nah veteyma֥nah umizera֖chah ure'e֣h be'eyne֑yka kּiy-lo֥ ta'abo֖r 'et-hayּaredּe֥n hazּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Go up to the top of Pisgah and look west and north and south and east. Look at the land with your own eyes, since you are not going to cross this Jordan.

עֲלֵ֣ה ׀ רֹ֣אשׁ הַפִּסְגָּ֗ה וְשָׂ֥א עֵינֶ֛יךָ יָ֧מָּה וְצָפֹ֛נָה וְתֵימָ֥נָה וּמִזְרָ֖חָה וּרְאֵ֣ה בְעֵינֶ֑יךָ כִּי־לֹ֥א תַעֲבֹ֖ר אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֥ן הַזֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vetza֥v 'et-yehoshshu֖'a vechazּeqe֣hu ve'amּetze֑hu kּiy-h֣u ya'abo֗r lipeney֙ ha'a֣m hazּe֔h vehu'֙ yanechi֣yl 'ota֔m 'et-ha'a֖retz 'ashshe֥r tּire'eֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see."

וְצַ֥ו אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ וְחַזְּקֵ֣הוּ וְאַמְּצֵ֑הוּ כִּי־ה֣וּא יַעֲבֹ֗ר לִפְנֵי֙ הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה וְהוּא֙ יַנְחִ֣יל אוֹתָ֔ם אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּרְאֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vanּe֣shsheb bּagּa֔ye m֖ul bּe֥yt pּe'ֽor׃p
