Deuteronomy

Chapter 34

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֨'al moshshe֜h meֽ'arebo֤t mo'ab֙ 'el-ha֣r neb֔o ro֚'shsh hapּisegּa֔h 'ashshe֖r 'al-pּene֣y yerech֑o vayּare'e֨hu yehva֧h 'et-kּal-ha'a֛retz 'et-hagּile'a֖d 'ad-dּaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the whole land, from Gilead to Dan,

וַיַּ֨עַל מֹשֶׁ֜ה מֵֽעַרְבֹ֤ת מוֹאָב֙ אֶל־הַ֣ר נְב֔וֹ רֹ֚אשׁ הַפִּסְגָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־פְּנֵ֣י יְרֵח֑וֹ וַיַּרְאֵ֨הוּ יְהוָ֧ה אֶת־כָּל־הָאָ֛רֶץ אֶת־הַגִּלְעָ֖ד עַד־דָּֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et֙ kּal-napetּali֔y ve'et-'e֥retz 'epera֖yim umenashshּe֑h ve'et֙ kּal-'e֣retz yehuda֔h 'a֖d hayּa֥m ha'acharֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea,

וְאֵת֙ כָּל־נַפְתָּלִ֔י וְאֶת־אֶ֥רֶץ אֶפְרַ֖יִם וּמְנַשֶּׁ֑ה וְאֵת֙ כָּל־אֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֔ה עַ֖ד הַיָּ֥ם הָאַחֲרֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-hanּe֗geb veֽ'et-hakּikּa֞r bּiqe'a֧t yerech֛o 'i֥yr hatּemari֖ym 'ad-tzoֽ'ar׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar.

וְאֶת־הַנֶּ֗גֶב וְֽאֶת־הַכִּכָּ֞ר בִּקְעַ֧ת יְרֵח֛וֹ עִ֥יר הַתְּמָרִ֖ים עַד־צֹֽעַר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֨'mer yehva֜h 'ela֗yv zo֤'t ha'a֨retz֙ 'ashshe֣r ni֠shshebּa'etּiy le'aberaha֨m leyitzecha֤q uֽleya'aqob֙ le'mo֔r lezare'aka֖ 'etּene֑nּah here'iyti֣yka be'eyne֔yka veshsha֖mּah lo֥ ta'aboֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it."

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלָ֗יו זֹ֤את הָאָ֨רֶץ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִ֠שְׁבַּעְתִּי לְאַבְרָהָ֨ם לְיִצְחָ֤ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹב֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לְזַרְעֲךָ֖ אֶתְּנֶ֑נָּה הֶרְאִיתִ֣יךָ בְעֵינֶ֔יךָ וְשָׁ֖מָּה לֹ֥א תַעֲבֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֨mat shsha֜m moshshe֧h 'eֽbed-yehva֛h bּe'e֥retz mo'a֖b 'al-pּi֥y yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in Moab, as the LORD had said.

וַיָּ֨מָת שָׁ֜ם מֹשֶׁ֧ה עֶֽבֶד־יְהוָ֛ה בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מוֹאָ֖ב עַל־פִּ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqebּo֨r 'ot֤o bagּaye֙ bּe'e֣retz mo'a֔b m֖ul bּe֣yt pּe'֑or veloֽ'-yada֥ 'iyshsh֙ 'et-qebu֣rat֔o 'a֖d hayּ֥om hazּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.

וַיִּקְבֹּ֨ר אֹת֤וֹ בַגַּיְ֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֔ב מ֖וּל בֵּ֣ית פְּע֑וֹר וְלֹֽא־יָדַ֥ע אִישׁ֙ אֶת־קְבֻ֣רָת֔וֹ עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umoshshe֗h bּen-me'a֧h ve'eshseri֛ym shshana֖h bּemot֑o loֽ'-kahata֥h 'eyn֖o velo'-na֥s lechoֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.

וּמֹשֶׁ֗ה בֶּן־מֵאָ֧ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֛ים שָׁנָ֖ה בְּמֹת֑וֹ לֹֽא־כָהֲתָ֥ה עֵינ֖וֹ וְלֹא־נָ֥ס לֵחֹֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּibekּu֩ bene֨y yishsera'e֧l 'et-moshshe֛h bּe'aֽrebo֥t mo'a֖b shsheloshshi֣ym y֑om vaֽyּitּem֔u yeme֥y beki֖y 'e֥bel moshsheֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.

וַיִּבְכּוּ֩ בְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֧ל אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֛ה בְּעַֽרְבֹ֥ת מוֹאָ֖ב שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים י֑וֹם וַֽיִּתְּמ֔וּ יְמֵ֥י בְכִ֖י אֵ֥בֶל מֹשֶֽׁה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): viֽyhoshshu֣'a bּin-n֗un male'֙ r֣ucha chakema֔h kּiֽy-sama֥ke moshshe֛h 'et-yada֖yv 'ala֑yv vayּishsheme'֨u 'ela֤yv bּeneֽy-yishsera'el֙ vaֽyּa'ashs֔u kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.

וִֽיהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בִּן־נ֗וּן מָלֵא֙ ר֣וּחַ חָכְמָ֔ה כִּֽי־סָמַ֥ךְ מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־יָדָ֖יו עָלָ֑יו וַיִּשְׁמְע֨וּ אֵלָ֤יו בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֔וּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veloֽ'-qa֨m nabi֥y '֛od bּeyishsera'e֖l kּemoshshe֑h 'ashsher֙ yeda'֣o yehva֔h pּani֖ym 'el-pּaniֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

וְלֹֽא־קָ֨ם נָבִ֥יא ע֛וֹד בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כְּמֹשֶׁ֑ה אֲשֶׁר֙ יְדָע֣וֹ יְהוָ֔ה פָּנִ֖ים אֶל־פָּנִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lekal-ha֨'ot֜ot vehamּopeti֗ym 'ashshe֤r shshelacho֙ yehva֔h la'ashs֖ot bּe'e֣retz mitzera֑yim lepare'o֥h ulekal-'abada֖yv ulekal-'aretzֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)who did all those signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do in Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land.

לְכָל־הָ֨אֹת֜וֹת וְהַמּוֹפְתִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר שְׁלָחוֹ֙ יְהוָ֔ה לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם לְפַרְעֹ֥ה וּלְכָל־עֲבָדָ֖יו וּלְכָל־אַרְצֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ulekol֙ hayּa֣d hachazaqa֔h uleko֖l hamּora֣ hagּad֑ol 'ashsher֙ 'ashsa֣h moshshe֔h le'eyne֖y kּal-yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

וּלְכֹל֙ הַיָּ֣ד הַחֲזָקָ֔ה וּלְכֹ֖ל הַמּוֹרָ֣א הַגָּד֑וֹל אֲשֶׁר֙ עָשָׂ֣ה מֹשֶׁ֔ה לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
