Chapter 10
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּashsem֩ hamּe֨leke 'chshrsh 'achashshever֧oshsh ׀ ma֛s 'al-ha'a֖retz ve'iyּe֥y hayּaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)King Xerxes imposed a tribute throughout his empire, even to the distant islands of the sea.

וַיָּשֶׂם֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ אחשרש אֲחַשְׁוֵר֧וֹשׁ ׀ מַ֛ס עַל־הָאָ֖רֶץ וְאִיֵּ֥י הַיָּֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vekal-ma'ashse֤h taqepּo֙ ugeb֣urat֔o uparashshat֙ gּedulּa֣t maredּoka֔y 'ashshe֥r gּidּel֖o hamּe֑leke halo'-he֣m kּetubi֗ym 'al-se֨per֙ dּibere֣y hayּami֔ym lemaleke֖y mada֥y uparaֽs׃
Edified Edition (EDE)All his acts of power and might, along with the full account of the greatness of Mordecai, whom the king had promoted, are they not recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?

וְכָל־מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה תָקְפּוֹ֙ וּגְב֣וּרָת֔וֹ וּפָרָשַׁת֙ גְּדֻלַּ֣ת מָרְדֳּכַ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר גִּדְּל֖וֹ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ הֲלוֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֨פֶר֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י הַיָּמִ֔ים לְמַלְכֵ֖י מָדַ֥י וּפָרָֽס׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֣y ׀ maredּoka֣y hayּehudi֗y mishsheneh֙ lamּe֣leke 'achashshever֔oshsh vegadol֙ layּehudi֔ym veratz֖uy lero֣b 'echa֑yv dּore֥shsh tob֙ le'amּ֔o vedobe֥r shshal֖om lekal-zare'ֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all their descendants.

כִּ֣י ׀ מָרְדֳּכַ֣י הַיְּהוּדִ֗י מִשְׁנֶה֙ לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ וְגָדוֹל֙ לַיְּהוּדִ֔ים וְרָצ֖וּי לְרֹ֣ב אֶחָ֑יו דֹּרֵ֥שׁ טוֹב֙ לְעַמּ֔וֹ וְדֹבֵ֥ר שָׁל֖וֹם לְכָל־זַרְעֽוֹ׃
