Chapter 11
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֨'mer yehva֜h 'el-moshshe֗h '֣od ne֤ga 'echad֙ 'abi֤y 'al-pּare'oh֙ ve'al-mitzera֔yim 'ֽacharey-ke֕n yeshshalּa֥ch 'eteke֖m mizּe֑h kּeshsha֨lּech֔o kּala֕h gּare֛shsh yegare֥shsh 'eteke֖m mizּeֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will bring [1] (one more plague) on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go. In fact, he will be so eager for you to leave that he will drive you out of here altogether!"

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה ע֣וֹד נֶ֤גַע אֶחָד֙ אָבִ֤יא עַל־פַּרְעֹה֙ וְעַל־מִצְרַ֔יִם אַֽחֲרֵי־כֵ֕ן יְשַׁלַּ֥ח אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִזֶּ֑ה כְּשַׁ֨לְּח֔וֹ כָּלָ֕ה גָּרֵ֛שׁ יְגָרֵ֥שׁ אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִזֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): dּabּer-na֖ bּe'azene֣y ha'a֑m veyishshe'al֞u 'i֣yshsh ׀ me'e֣t re'e֗hu ve'ishshּah֙ me'e֣t re'uta֔hּ kּeley-ke֖sep ukele֥y zahaֽb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Tell all the Israelites, both men and women, to ask their Egyptian neighbours for articles made of silver and gold."

דַּבֶּר־נָ֖א בְּאָזְנֵ֣י הָעָ֑ם וְיִשְׁאֲל֞וּ אִ֣ישׁ ׀ מֵאֵ֣ת רֵעֵ֗הוּ וְאִשָּׁה֙ מֵאֵ֣ת רְעוּתָ֔הּ כְּלֵי־כֶ֖סֶף וּכְלֵ֥י זָהָֽב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּitּe֧n yehva֛h 'et-che֥n ha'a֖m bּe'eyne֣y mitzera֑yim gּa֣m ׀ ha'i֣yshsh moshshe֗h gּad֤ol me'od֙ bּe'e֣retz mitzera֔yim bּe'eyne֥y 'abedeֽy-pare'o֖h ube'eyne֥y ha'aֽm׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)the LORD made the Egyptians look upon the Israelites with favour. Furthermore, Moses himself was highly respected in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the common people.

וַיִּתֵּ֧ן יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־חֵ֥ן הָעָ֖ם בְּעֵינֵ֣י מִצְרָ֑יִם גַּ֣ם ׀ הָאִ֣ישׁ מֹשֶׁ֗ה גָּד֤וֹל מְאֹד֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּעֵינֵ֥י עַבְדֵֽי־פַרְעֹ֖ה וּבְעֵינֵ֥י הָעָֽם׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֣'mer moshshe֔h kּo֖h 'ama֣r yehva֑h kּachatzo֣t halּa֔yelah 'ani֥y yotze֖ bּet֥oke mitzeraֽyim׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Moses said to Pharaoh, "This is what the LORD says: 'About midnight, I will pass through the middle of Egypt.'"

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֔ה כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה כַּחֲצֹ֣ת הַלַּ֔יְלָה אֲנִ֥י יוֹצֵ֖א בְּת֥וֹךְ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

5
Phonetic (Hebrew): ume֣t kּal-bּekor֮ bּe'e֣retz mitzerayim֒ mibּek֤or pּare'oh֙ hayּoshshe֣b 'al-kּise'֔o 'a֚d bּek֣or hashshּipecha֔h 'ashshe֖r 'acha֣r harecha֑yim veko֖l bּek֥or bּehemaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"'Every firstborn son in the land of Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, the ruler, to the firstborn son of the servant girl who works at the mill. Even the firstborn of all the livestock will die.'"

וּמֵ֣ת כָּל־בְּכוֹר֮ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַיִם֒ מִבְּכ֤וֹר פַּרְעֹה֙ הַיֹּשֵׁ֣ב עַל־כִּסְא֔וֹ עַ֚ד בְּכ֣וֹר הַשִּׁפְחָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר אַחַ֣ר הָרֵחָ֑יִם וְכֹ֖ל בְּכ֥וֹר בְּהֵמָֽה׃

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaֽyeta֛h tze'aqa֥h gedola֖h bּekal-'e֣retz mitzera֑yim 'ashshe֤r kּamo֨hu֙ lo֣ niheya֔tah vekamo֖hu lo֥ tosiֽp׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"'There will be a loud cry of grief throughout all of Egypt, worse than any cry in the past or any cry that will ever be heard again.'"

וְהָֽיְתָ֛ה צְעָקָ֥ה גְדֹלָ֖ה בְּכָל־אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אֲשֶׁ֤ר כָּמֹ֨הוּ֙ לֹ֣א נִהְיָ֔תָה וְכָמֹ֖הוּ לֹ֥א תֹסִֽף׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): uleko֣l ׀ bּene֣y yishsera'e֗l lo֤ yeֽcheratz-kּe֨leb֙ leshshon֔o leme'i֖yshsh ve'ad-bּehema֑h lema֨'an֙ tּeֽde'֔un 'ashsher֙ yapele֣h yehva֔h bּe֥yn mitzera֖yim ube֥yn yishsera'eֽl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"'But among the Israelites, not even a dog will bark at any person or animal. In this way, you will know that the LORD makes a [2] (clear distinction) between Egypt and Israel.'"

וּלְכֹ֣ל ׀ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לֹ֤א יֶֽחֱרַץ־כֶּ֨לֶב֙ לְשֹׁנ֔וֹ לְמֵאִ֖ישׁ וְעַד־בְּהֵמָ֑ה לְמַ֨עַן֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּן אֲשֶׁר֙ יַפְלֶ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה בֵּ֥ין מִצְרַ֖יִם וּבֵ֥ין יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): veyared֣u kal-'abadeyka֩ 'e֨lּeh 'ela֜y vehishshetּaֽchau-li֣y le'mo֗r tze֤ 'atּah֙ vekal-ha'a֣m 'ashsher-bּeragele֔yka ve'acharey-ke֖n 'etze֑ vayּetze֥ meֽ'im-pּare'o֖h bּachoriy-'aֽp׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)"'All these officials of yours will come and bow down before me, saying, "Go, you and all the people who follow you!" After that, I will leave.'" Then Moses left Pharaoh, feeling very angry.

וְיָרְד֣וּ כָל־עֲבָדֶיךָ֩ אֵ֨לֶּה אֵלַ֜י וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוּוּ־לִ֣י לֵאמֹ֗ר צֵ֤א אַתָּה֙ וְכָל־הָעָ֣ם אֲשֶׁר־בְּרַגְלֶ֔יךָ וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵ֖ן אֵצֵ֑א וַיֵּצֵ֥א מֵֽעִם־פַּרְעֹ֖ה בָּחֳרִי־אָֽף׃ס

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֤'mer yehvah֙ 'el-moshshe֔h lo'-yishshema֥ 'aleyke֖m pּare'o֑h lema֛'an reb֥ot mopeta֖y bּe'e֥retz mitzeraֽyim׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the LORD told Moses, "Pharaoh will still refuse to listen to you, so that my miracles can be multiplied across the land of Egypt."

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה לֹא־יִשְׁמַ֥ע אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם פַּרְעֹ֑ה לְמַ֛עַן רְב֥וֹת מוֹפְתַ֖י בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): umoshshe֣h ve'aharo֗n 'ashs֛u 'et-kּal-hamּopeti֥ym ha'e֖lּeh lipene֣y pare'o֑h vayechazּe֤q yehvah֙ 'et-le֣b pּare'o֔h veloֽ'-shshilּa֥ch 'et-bּeneֽy-yishsera'e֖l me'aretzֽo׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders in front of Pharaoh, but the LORD allowed Pharaoh’s heart to be stubborn, and he would not let the Israelites leave his country.

וּמֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאַהֲרֹ֗ן עָשׂ֛וּ אֶת־כָּל־הַמֹּפְתִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה לִפְנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וַיְחַזֵּ֤ק יְהוָה֙ אֶת־לֵ֣ב פַּרְעֹ֔ה וְלֹֽא־שִׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵאַרְצֽוֹ׃פ
