Chapter 15
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): a֣z yashshiֽyr-moshsheh֩ ubene֨y yishsera'e֜l 'et-hashshּiyra֤h hazּo't֙ laֽyhva֔h vayּo'mer֖u le'mo֑r 'ashshi֤yrah lֽayhvah֙ kּiֽy-ga'o֣h gּa'a֔h s֥us verokeb֖o rama֥h bayּaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: "I will sing to the LORD, for He is highly honoured. He has thrown the horse and its rider into the sea."

אָ֣ז יָשִֽׁיר־מֹשֶׁה֩ וּבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת־הַשִּׁירָ֤ה הַזֹּאת֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ לֵאמֹ֑ר אָשִׁ֤ירָה לַֽיהוָה֙ כִּֽי־גָאֹ֣ה גָּאָ֔ה ס֥וּס וְרֹכְב֖וֹ רָמָ֥ה בַיָּֽם׃

2
Phonetic (Hebrew): azּi֤y vezimerat֙ ya֔hּ vaֽyehiy-li֖y liֽyshshu'a֑h ze֤h 'eliy֙ ve'aneve֔hu 'elohe֥y 'abi֖y va'aromemeֽnehu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"the LORD is [1] (my strength and song); He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him; my father's God, and I will highly honour Him."

עָזִּ֤י וְזִמְרָת֙ יָ֔הּ וַֽיְהִי־לִ֖י לִֽישׁוּעָ֑ה זֶ֤ה אֵלִי֙ וְאַנְוֵ֔הוּ אֱלֹהֵ֥י אָבִ֖י וַאֲרֹמְמֶֽנְהוּ׃

3
Phonetic (Hebrew): yehva֖h 'i֣yshsh milechama֑h yehva֖h shshemֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"the LORD is a [2] (warrior); the LORD is His name."

יְהוָ֖ה אִ֣ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֑ה יְהוָ֖ה שְׁמֽוֹ׃

4
Phonetic (Hebrew): marekּebo֥t pּare'o֛h vecheyl֖o yara֣h bayּa֑m umibecha֥r shshaֽlishsha֖yv tubּe'֥u beyam-sֽup׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"He has thrown Pharaoh’s chariots and his army into the sea. His best officers are drowned in the Red Sea."

מַרְכְּבֹ֥ת פַּרְעֹ֛ה וְחֵיל֖וֹ יָרָ֣ה בַיָּ֑ם וּמִבְחַ֥ר שָֽׁלִשָׁ֖יו טֻבְּע֥וּ בְיַם־סֽוּף׃

5
Phonetic (Hebrew): tּehomo֖t yekaseyu֑mu yared֥u bimetzolo֖t kּemo-'aֽben׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"The deep waters have covered them; they sank to the bottom like a stone."

תְּהֹמֹ֖ת יְכַסְיֻ֑מוּ יָרְד֥וּ בִמְצוֹלֹ֖ת כְּמוֹ־אָֽבֶן׃

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): yemiֽyneka֣ yehva֔h ne'edּari֖y bּakּo֑cha yemiֽyneka֥ yehva֖h tּire'a֥tz 'oyeֽb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Your right hand, the LORD, is glorious in power. Your right hand, the LORD, shatters the enemy."

יְמִֽינְךָ֣ יְהוָ֔ה נֶאְדָּרִ֖י בַּכֹּ֑חַ יְמִֽינְךָ֥ יְהוָ֖ה תִּרְעַ֥ץ אוֹיֵֽב׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): ubero֥b gּe'oneka֖ tּaharo֣s qame֑yka tּeshshalּach֙ charo֣neka֔ yo'kele֖mo kּaqּaֽshsh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"In the greatness of Your majesty, You overthrew those who rose up against You. You sent out Your burning anger; it consumed them like straw."

וּבְרֹ֥ב גְּאוֹנְךָ֖ תַּהֲרֹ֣ס קָמֶ֑יךָ תְּשַׁלַּח֙ חֲרֹ֣נְךָ֔ יֹאכְלֵ֖מוֹ כַּקַּֽשׁ׃

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): uber֤ucha 'apּe֨yka֙ ne֣'eremu ma֔yim nitzּeb֥u kemo-ne֖d nozeli֑ym qaֽpe'֥u tehomo֖t bּeleb-yaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"By the blast of Your breath, the waters piled up. The surging waters stood up like a wall; the deep waters became solid in the heart of the sea."

וּבְר֤וּחַ אַפֶּ֨יךָ֙ נֶ֣עֶרְמוּ מַ֔יִם נִצְּב֥וּ כְמוֹ־נֵ֖ד נֹזְלִ֑ים קָֽפְא֥וּ תְהֹמֹ֖ת בְּלֶב־יָֽם׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): ama֥r 'oye֛b 'eredּo֥p 'ashsּi֖yg 'achalּe֣q shshala֑l tּimela'e֣mo napeshshi֔y 'ari֣yq charebּi֔y tּoriyshshe֖mo yadiֽy׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"The enemy bragged, 'I will pursue them, I will catch them. I will divide the plunder; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword and my hand will destroy them.'"

אָמַ֥ר אוֹיֵ֛ב אֶרְדֹּ֥ף אַשִּׂ֖יג אֲחַלֵּ֣ק שָׁלָ֑ל תִּמְלָאֵ֣מוֹ נַפְשִׁ֔י אָרִ֣יק חַרְבִּ֔י תּוֹרִישֵׁ֖מוֹ יָדִֽי׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): nashsha֥petּa beruchaka֖ kּisּa֣mo ya֑m tzaֽlalu֙ kּaֽ'ope֔ret bּema֖yim 'adּiyriֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"But You blew with Your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters."

נָשַׁ֥פְתָּ בְרוּחֲךָ֖ כִּסָּ֣מוֹ יָ֑ם צָֽלֲלוּ֙ כַּֽעוֹפֶ֔רֶת בְּמַ֖יִם אַדִּירִֽים׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): miֽy-kamo֤kah bּaֽ'elim֙ yehva֔h mi֥y kּamo֖kah ne'edּa֣r bּaqּo֑deshsh nora֥ tehilּo֖t 'o֥shseh peֽle'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Who among the gods is like You, the LORD? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?"

מִֽי־כָמֹ֤כָה בָּֽאֵלִם֙ יְהוָ֔ה מִ֥י כָּמֹ֖כָה נֶאְדָּ֣ר בַּקֹּ֑דֶשׁ נוֹרָ֥א תְהִלֹּ֖ת עֹ֥שֵׂה פֶֽלֶא׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): nati֨yta֙ yemi֣yneka֔ tּibela'e֖mo 'aֽretz׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"You reached out Your right hand, and the earth swallowed them."

נָטִ֨יתָ֙ יְמִ֣ינְךָ֔ תִּבְלָעֵ֖מוֹ אָֽרֶץ׃

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): nachi֥yta bechasedּeka֖ 'am-z֣u gּa'a֑letּa neha֥letּa be'azּeka֖ 'el-neve֥h qadeshsheֽka׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"In Your unfailing love, You will lead the people You have rescued. In Your strength, You will guide them to Your holy place."

נָחִ֥יתָ בְחַסְדְּךָ֖ עַם־ז֣וּ גָּאָ֑לְתָּ נֵהַ֥לְתָּ בְעָזְּךָ֖ אֶל־נְוֵ֥ה קָדְשֶֽׁךָ׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): shshaֽme'֥u 'amּi֖ym yiregּaz֑un chi֣yl 'acha֔z yoshshebe֖y pּelaֽshshet׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"The nations will hear and tremble; anguish will grip the people of Philistia."

שָֽׁמְע֥וּ עַמִּ֖ים יִרְגָּז֑וּן חִ֣יל אָחַ֔ז יֹשְׁבֵ֖י פְּלָֽשֶׁת׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): a֤z nibehalu֙ 'alּupe֣y 'ed֔om 'eyle֣y mo'a֔b yoֽ'chaze֖mo ra֑'ad namo֕gu kּo֖l yoshshebe֥y kenaֽ'an׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"The leaders of Edom will be terrified, the leaders of Moab will be gripped with trembling, and the people of Canaan will lose their courage."

אָ֤ז נִבְהֲלוּ֙ אַלּוּפֵ֣י אֱד֔וֹם אֵילֵ֣י מוֹאָ֔ב יֹֽאחֲזֵ֖מוֹ רָ֑עַד נָמֹ֕גוּ כֹּ֖ל יֹשְׁבֵ֥י כְנָֽעַן׃

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): tּipּo֨l 'aleyhe֤m 'eyma֨tah֙ vapa֔chad bּigedo֥l zero'aka֖ yidּem֣u kּa'a֑ben 'ad-ya'abo֤r 'amּeka֙ yehva֔h 'aֽd-ya'abo֖r 'am-z֥u qaniֽyta׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Terror and dread will fall on them. Because of the power of Your arm, they will be as still as a stone, until Your people pass by, the LORD, until the people You bought pass by."

תִּפֹּ֨ל עֲלֵיהֶ֤ם אֵימָ֨תָה֙ וָפַ֔חַד בִּגְדֹ֥ל זְרוֹעֲךָ֖ יִדְּמ֣וּ כָּאָ֑בֶן עַד־יַעֲבֹ֤ר עַמְּךָ֙ יְהוָ֔ה עַֽד־יַעֲבֹ֖ר עַם־ז֥וּ קָנִֽיתָ׃

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): tּebi'e֗mo vetitּa'e֨mo֙ bּeha֣r nachalaֽteka֔ mak֧on leshshibetּeka֛ pּa'a֖letּa yehva֑h miqּeda֕shsh 'adona֖y kּonen֥u yadeֽyka׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain You own, the place, the LORD, You made for Your dwelling, the holy place, the LORD, that Your hands established."

תְּבִאֵ֗מוֹ וְתִטָּעֵ֨מוֹ֙ בְּהַ֣ר נַחֲלָֽתְךָ֔ מָכ֧וֹן לְשִׁבְתְּךָ֛ פָּעַ֖לְתָּ יְהוָ֑ה מִקְּדָ֕שׁ אֲדֹנָ֖י כּוֹנְנ֥וּ יָדֶֽיךָ׃

18
Phonetic (Hebrew): yehva֥h ׀ yimelo֖ke le'ola֥m va'eֽd׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"the LORD will rule for ever and ever."

יְהוָ֥ה ׀ יִמְלֹ֖ךְ לְעֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃

19
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֣y ba'֩ s֨us pּare'o֜h bּerikebּ֤o ubeparashshayv֙ bּayּa֔m vayּa֧shsheb yehva֛h 'alehe֖m 'et-me֣y hayּa֑m ubene֧y yishsera'e֛l halek֥u bayּabּashsha֖h bּet֥oke hayּaֽm׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots, and horsemen went into the sea, the LORD brought the waters of the sea back over them. But the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.

כִּ֣י בָא֩ ס֨וּס פַּרְעֹ֜ה בְּרִכְבּ֤וֹ וּבְפָרָשָׁיו֙ בַּיָּ֔ם וַיָּ֧שֶׁב יְהוָ֛ה עֲלֵהֶ֖ם אֶת־מֵ֣י הַיָּ֑ם וּבְנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל הָלְכ֥וּ בַיַּבָּשָׁ֖ה בְּת֥וֹךְ הַיָּֽם׃פ

20
Phonetic (Hebrew): vatּiqּach֩ mireya֨m hanּebiy'a֜h 'ach֧ot 'aharo֛n 'et-hatּo֖p bּeyada֑hּ vatּetze֤'na kaֽl-hanּashshiym֙ 'achare֔yha bּetupּi֖ym ubimecholoֽt׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, playing tambourines and dancing.

וַתִּקַּח֩ מִרְיָ֨ם הַנְּבִיאָ֜ה אֲח֧וֹת אַהֲרֹ֛ן אֶת־הַתֹּ֖ף בְּיָדָ֑הּ וַתֵּצֶ֤אןָ כָֽל־הַנָּשִׁים֙ אַחֲרֶ֔יהָ בְּתֻפִּ֖ים וּבִמְחֹלֹֽת׃

21
Phonetic (Hebrew): vatּa֥'an lahe֖m mireya֑m shshi֤yru laֽyhvah֙ kּiֽy-ga'o֣h gּa'a֔h s֥us verokeb֖o rama֥h bayּaֽm׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)Miriam sang back to them: "Sing to the LORD, for He is highly honoured. He has thrown the horse and its rider into the sea."

וַתַּ֥עַן לָהֶ֖ם מִרְיָ֑ם שִׁ֤ירוּ לַֽיהוָה֙ כִּֽי־גָאֹ֣ה גָּאָ֔ה ס֥וּס וְרֹכְב֖וֹ רָמָ֥ה בַיָּֽם׃ס

22
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּasּa֨ moshshe֤h 'et-yishsera'el֙ miyּam-s֔up vayּetze'֖u 'el-midebּar-shsh֑ur vayּelek֧u shsheloֽshshet-yami֛ym bּamּidebּa֖r velo'-ma֥tze'u maֽyim׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Moses led Israel away from the Red Sea and into the Desert of Shur. They travelled in the desert for three days without finding water.

וַיַּסַּ֨ע מֹשֶׁ֤ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מִיַּם־ס֔וּף וַיֵּצְא֖וּ אֶל־מִדְבַּר־שׁ֑וּר וַיֵּלְכ֧וּ שְׁלֹֽשֶׁת־יָמִ֛ים בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר וְלֹא־מָ֥צְאוּ מָֽיִם׃

23
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּabo֣'u mara֔tah velo֣ yaֽkel֗u lishshetּo֥t ma֨yim֙ mimּara֔h kּi֥y mari֖ym he֑m 'al-kּe֥n qaraֽ'-shshema֖hּ maraֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah, which means 'bitter'.)

וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ מָרָ֔תָה וְלֹ֣א יָֽכְל֗וּ לִשְׁתֹּ֥ת מַ֨יִם֙ מִמָּרָ֔ה כִּ֥י מָרִ֖ים הֵ֑ם עַל־כֵּ֥ן קָרָֽא־שְׁמָ֖הּ מָרָֽה׃

24
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּilּo֧nu ha'a֛m 'al-moshshe֥h lּe'mo֖r mah-nּishshetּeֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)So the people complained to Moses, saying, "What are we going to drink?"

וַיִּלֹּ֧נוּ הָעָ֛ם עַל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹ֖ר מַה־נִּשְׁתֶּֽה׃

25
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּitze'a֣q 'el-yehva֗h vayּore֤hu yehvah֙ 'e֔tz vayּashsheleke֙ 'el-hamּa֔yim vaֽyּimetּeq֖u hamּa֑yim shsha֣m shsa֥m l֛o cho֥q umishshepּa֖t veshsha֥m nisּaֽhu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. When Moses threw it into the water, the water became sweet and good to drink. There the LORD issued a ruling and instruction for them, and put them to the test.

וַיִּצְעַ֣ק אֶל־יְהוָ֗ה וַיּוֹרֵ֤הוּ יְהוָה֙ עֵ֔ץ וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ֙ אֶל־הַמַּ֔יִם וַֽיִּמְתְּק֖וּ הַמָּ֑יִם שָׁ֣ם שָׂ֥ם ל֛וֹ חֹ֥ק וּמִשְׁפָּ֖ט וְשָׁ֥ם נִסָּֽהוּ׃

26
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo'mer֩ 'im-shsham֨o'a tּishshema֜ leq֣ol ׀ yehva֣h 'elohe֗yka vehayּashsha֤r bּe'eynayv֙ tּa'ashse֔h vehֽa'azanetּa֙ lemitzevota֔yv veshshamaretּa֖ kּal-chuqּa֑yv kּaֽl-hamּֽachala֞h 'ashsher-shsa֤metּiy bemitzera֨yim֙ lo'-'ashsi֣ym 'ale֔yka kּi֛y 'ani֥y yehva֖h rope'eֽka׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)He said, "If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His laws, I will not bring any of the diseases on you that I brought on the Egyptians. For I am [3] (the LORD your Healer)."

וַיֹּאמֶר֩ אִם־שָׁמ֨וֹעַ תִּשְׁמַ֜ע לְק֣וֹל ׀ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ וְהַיָּשָׁ֤ר בְּעֵינָיו֙ תַּעֲשֶׂ֔ה וְהַֽאֲזַנְתָּ֙ לְמִצְוֺתָ֔יו וְשָׁמַרְתָּ֖ כָּל־חֻקָּ֑יו כָּֽל־הַמַּֽחֲלָ֞ה אֲשֶׁר־שַׂ֤מְתִּי בְמִצְרַ֨יִם֙ לֹא־אָשִׂ֣ים עָלֶ֔יךָ כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה רֹפְאֶֽךָ׃ס

27
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּabo֣'u 'eyli֔mah veshsha֗m shshetּe֥ym 'eshsere֛h 'eyno֥t ma֖yim veshshibe'i֣ym tּemari֑ym vayּachanu-shsha֖m 'al-hamּaֽyim׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees. They camped there by the water.

וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ אֵילִ֔מָה וְשָׁ֗ם שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵ֛ה עֵינֹ֥ת מַ֖יִם וְשִׁבְעִ֣ים תְּמָרִ֑ים וַיַּחֲנוּ־שָׁ֖ם עַל־הַמָּֽיִם׃
