Chapter 34

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֤'mer yehvah֙ 'el-moshshe֔h pּesal-leka֛ shsheneֽy-lucho֥t 'abani֖ym kּari'shshoni֑ym vekatabetּiy֙ 'al-halּucho֔t 'et-hadּebari֔ym 'ashshe֥r hay֛u 'al-halּucho֥t hari'shshoni֖ym 'ashshe֥r shshibּaֽretּa׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the LORD said unto Moses, "Hew two tablets of stone like the first: and I will write upon these tablets the words that were in the first tablets, which you broke."

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה פְּסָל־לְךָ֛ שְׁנֵֽי־לֻחֹ֥ת אֲבָנִ֖ים כָּרִאשֹׁנִ֑ים וְכָתַבְתִּי֙ עַל־הַלֻּחֹ֔ת אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָי֛וּ עַל־הַלֻּחֹ֥ת הָרִאשֹׁנִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר שִׁבַּֽרְתָּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veheye֥h nak֖on labּo֑qer ve'ali֤yta babּo֨qer֙ 'el-ha֣r siyna֔y venitzּabetּa֥ li֛y shsha֖m 'al-ro֥'shsh hahaֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to Me on the top of the mountain."

וֶהְיֵ֥ה נָכ֖וֹן לַבֹּ֑קֶר וְעָלִ֤יתָ בַבֹּ֨קֶר֙ אֶל־הַ֣ר סִינַ֔י וְנִצַּבְתָּ֥ לִ֛י שָׁ֖ם עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ הָהָֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'iyshsh֙ loֽ'-ya'ale֣h 'imּa֔ke vegam-'i֥yshsh 'al-yera֖ bּekal-haha֑r gּam-hatzּo֤'n vehabּaqar֙ 'al-yire'֔u 'el-m֖ul haha֥r hahֽu'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And no man shall come up with you, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mountain; neither let the flocks nor herds graze before that mountain."

וְאִישׁ֙ לֹֽא־יַעֲלֶ֣ה עִמָּ֔ךְ וְגַם־אִ֥ישׁ אַל־יֵרָ֖א בְּכָל־הָהָ֑ר גַּם־הַצֹּ֤אן וְהַבָּקָר֙ אַל־יִרְע֔וּ אֶל־מ֖וּל הָהָ֥ר הַהֽוּא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּipeso֡l shsheneֽy-lucho֨t 'abani֜ym kּari'shshoni֗ym vayּashshekּe֨m moshshe֤h babּo֨qer֙ vayּa֨'al֙ 'el-ha֣r siyna֔y kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'ot֑o vayּiqּa֣ch bּeyad֔o shshene֖y lucho֥t 'abaniֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And he hewed two tablets of stone like the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tablets of stone.

וַיִּפְסֹ֡ל שְׁנֵֽי־לֻחֹ֨ת אֲבָנִ֜ים כָּרִאשֹׁנִ֗ים וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨ם מֹשֶׁ֤ה בַבֹּ֨קֶר֙ וַיַּ֨עַל֙ אֶל־הַ֣ר סִינַ֔י כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֹת֑וֹ וַיִּקַּ֣ח בְּיָד֔וֹ שְׁנֵ֖י לֻחֹ֥ת אֲבָנִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּe֤red yehvah֙ bּeֽ'ana֔n vayּiteyatzּe֥b 'imּ֖o shsha֑m vayּiqera֥ beshshe֖m yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

וַיֵּ֤רֶד יְהוָה֙ בֶּֽעָנָ֔ן וַיִּתְיַצֵּ֥ב עִמּ֖וֹ שָׁ֑ם וַיִּקְרָ֥א בְשֵׁ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa'abo֨r yehva֥h ׀ 'al-pּanayv֮ vayּiqera'֒ yehva֣h ׀ yehva֔h 'e֥l rach֖um vechanּ֑un 'e֥reke 'apּa֖yim verab-che֥sed ve'emeֽt ׀

Edified Edition (EDE)And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed: "the LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,"

וַיַּעֲבֹ֨ר יְהוָ֥ה ׀ עַל־פָּנָיו֮ וַיִּקְרָא֒ יְהוָ֣ה ׀ יְהוָ֔ה אֵ֥ל רַח֖וּם וְחַנּ֑וּן אֶ֥רֶךְ אַפַּ֖יִם וְרַב־חֶ֥סֶד וֶאֱמֶֽת ׀

Phonetic (Hebrew): notze֥r che֨sed֙ la'alapi֔ym noshse֥ 'avo֛n vape֖shsha vechatּa'a֑h venaqּeh֙ lo֣ yenaqּe֔h pּoqe֣d ׀ 'avo֣n 'ab֗ot 'al-bּaniym֙ ve'al-bּene֣y bani֔ym 'al-shshilּeshshi֖ym ve'al-ribּe'iֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation."

נֹצֵ֥ר חֶ֨סֶד֙ לָאֲלָפִ֔ים נֹשֵׂ֥א עָוֺ֛ן וָפֶ֖שַׁע וְחַטָּאָ֑ה וְנַקֵּה֙ לֹ֣א יְנַקֶּ֔ה פֹּקֵ֣ד ׀ עֲוֺ֣ן אָב֗וֹת עַל־בָּנִים֙ וְעַל־בְּנֵ֣י בָנִ֔ים עַל־שִׁלֵּשִׁ֖ים וְעַל־רִבֵּעִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayemahe֖r moshshe֑h vayּiqּo֥d 'a֖retzah vayּishshetּaֽchu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the ground and worshipped.

וַיְמַהֵ֖ר מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיִּקֹּ֥ד אַ֖רְצָה וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֡'mer 'im-na'֩ matza֨'tiy che֤n bּe'eyne֨yka֙ 'adona֔y yeֽleke-na֥ 'adona֖y bּeqirebּe֑nu kּi֤y 'am-qeshsheh-'o֨rep֙ h֔u vesalachetּa֛ la'avone֥nu ulechatּa'te֖nu unechaletּaֽnu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And he said, "If now I have found favour in Your sight, O LORD, let my Lord, I pray You, go among us; for it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for Your inheritance."

וַיֹּ֡אמֶר אִם־נָא֩ מָצָ֨אתִי חֵ֤ן בְּעֵינֶ֨יךָ֙ אֲדֹנָ֔י יֵֽלֶךְ־נָ֥א אֲדֹנָ֖י בְּקִרְבֵּ֑נוּ כִּ֤י עַם־קְשֵׁה־עֹ֨רֶף֙ ה֔וּא וְסָלַחְתָּ֛ לַעֲוֺנֵ֥נוּ וּלְחַטָּאתֵ֖נוּ וּנְחַלְתָּֽנוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֗'mer hinּe֣h 'anokiy֮ kּore֣t bּeriyt֒ ne֤ged kּaֽl-'amּeka֙ 'e'eshse֣h nipela'o֔t 'ashshe֛r loֽ'-nibere'֥u bekal-ha'a֖retz ubekal-hagּoyi֑m vera'a֣h kal-ha֠'am 'ashsher-'atּa֨h beqirebּ֜o 'et-ma'ashse֤h yehvah֙ kּiֽy-nora֣ h֔u 'ashshe֥r 'ani֖y 'oshse֥h 'imּaֽke׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And He said, "Behold, I make a covenant: before all your people I will do wonders, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which you are shall see the work of the LORD: for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you."

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּ֣ה אָנֹכִי֮ כֹּרֵ֣ת בְּרִית֒ נֶ֤גֶד כָּֽל־עַמְּךָ֙ אֶעֱשֶׂ֣ה נִפְלָאֹ֔ת אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא־נִבְרְא֥וּ בְכָל־הָאָ֖רֶץ וּבְכָל־הַגּוֹיִ֑ם וְרָאָ֣ה כָל־הָ֠עָם אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֨ה בְקִרְבּ֜וֹ אֶת־מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה יְהוָה֙ כִּֽי־נוֹרָ֣א ה֔וּא אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י עֹשֶׂ֥ה עִמָּֽךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshema֨r-leka֔ 'e֛t 'ashshe֥r 'anoki֖y metzaueka֣ hayּ֑om hineni֧y gore֣shsh mipּane֗yka 'et-ha'emoriy֙ vehaֽkּena'ani֔y vehachitּiy֙ vehapּerizּi֔y vehachiui֖y vehayebusiֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Observe that which I command you this day: behold, I drive out before you the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

שְׁמָ֨ר־לְךָ֔ אֵ֛ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָנֹכִ֖י מְצַוְּךָ֣ הַיּ֑וֹם הִנְנִ֧י גֹרֵ֣שׁ מִפָּנֶ֗יךָ אֶת־הָאֱמֹרִי֙ וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י וְהַחִתִּי֙ וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י וְהַחִוִּ֖י וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hishshּa֣mer leka֗ pּen-tּikero֤t bּeriyt֙ leyoshshe֣b ha'a֔retz 'ashshe֥r 'atּa֖h bּa֣ 'ale֑yha pּen-yiheye֥h lemoqe֖shsh bּeqirebּeֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you:

הִשָּׁ֣מֶר לְךָ֗ פֶּן־תִּכְרֹ֤ת בְּרִית֙ לְיוֹשֵׁ֣ב הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתָּ֖ה בָּ֣א עָלֶ֑יהָ פֶּן־יִהְיֶ֥ה לְמוֹקֵ֖שׁ בְּקִרְבֶּֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֤y 'et-mizebּechotam֙ tּitּotz֔un ve'et-matzּebota֖m tּeshshabּer֑un ve'et-'ashshera֖yv tּikerotֽun׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But you shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:

כִּ֤י אֶת־מִזְבְּחֹתָם֙ תִּתֹּצ֔וּן וְאֶת־מַצֵּבֹתָ֖ם תְּשַׁבֵּר֑וּן וְאֶת־אֲשֵׁרָ֖יו תִּכְרֹתֽוּן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֛y lo֥ tiֽshshetּachave֖h le'e֣l 'ache֑r kּi֤y yehvah֙ qanּa֣ shshem֔o 'e֥l qanּa֖ hֽu'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For you shall worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

כִּ֛י לֹ֥א תִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖ה לְאֵ֣ל אַחֵ֑ר כִּ֤י יְהוָה֙ קַנָּ֣א שְׁמ֔וֹ אֵ֥ל קַנָּ֖א הֽוּא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): pּen-tּikero֥t bּeri֖yt leyoshshe֣b ha'a֑retz vezan֣u ׀ 'achare֣y 'eloֽheyhe֗m vezabechu֙ le'lo֣heyhe֔m veqara֣ leka֔ ve'akaletּa֖ mizּibechֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one calls you, and you eat of his sacrifice;

פֶּן־תִּכְרֹ֥ת בְּרִ֖ית לְיוֹשֵׁ֣ב הָאָ֑רֶץ וְזָנ֣וּ ׀ אַחֲרֵ֣י אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֗ם וְזָבְחוּ֙ לֵאלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם וְקָרָ֣א לְךָ֔ וְאָכַלְתָּ֖ מִזִּבְחֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqachetּa֥ mibּenota֖yv lebane֑yka vezan֣u benota֗yv 'acharey֙ 'elo֣heyhe֔n vehizenu֙ 'et-bּane֔yka 'achare֖y 'eloheyheֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And you take of their daughters unto your sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make your sons go a whoring after their gods.

וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ מִבְּנֹתָ֖יו לְבָנֶ֑יךָ וְזָנ֣וּ בְנֹתָ֗יו אַחֲרֵי֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ן וְהִזְנוּ֙ אֶת־בָּנֶ֔יךָ אַחֲרֵ֖י אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): elohe֥y masּeka֖h lo֥ ta'ashseh-lּaֽke׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You shall make for yourselves no molten gods.

אֱלֹהֵ֥י מַסֵּכָ֖ה לֹ֥א תַעֲשֶׂה־לָּֽךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): et-cha֣g hamּatzּot֮ tּishshemor֒ shshibe'a֨t yami֜ym tּo'ka֤l matzּot֙ 'ashshe֣r tziuiyti֔ka lemo'e֖d cho֣deshsh ha'abi֑yb kּi֚y bּecho֣deshsh haֽ'abi֔yb yatza֖'ta mimּitzeraֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The feast of unleavened bread shall you keep. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib you came out from Egypt.

אֶת־חַ֣ג הַמַּצּוֹת֮ תִּשְׁמֹר֒ שִׁבְעַ֨ת יָמִ֜ים תֹּאכַ֤ל מַצּוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוִּיתִ֔ךָ לְמוֹעֵ֖ד חֹ֣דֶשׁ הָאָבִ֑יב כִּ֚י בְּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָֽאָבִ֔יב יָצָ֖אתָ מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּal-pּe֥ter re֖chem li֑y vekaֽl-miqeneka֙ tּizּaka֔r pּe֖ter shsh֥or vashseֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)All that opens the womb is Mine; and every firstling among your cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.

כָּל־פֶּ֥טֶר רֶ֖חֶם לִ֑י וְכָֽל־מִקְנְךָ֙ תִּזָּכָ֔ר פֶּ֖טֶר שׁ֥וֹר וָשֶֽׂה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): upe֤ter chamor֙ tּipedּe֣h beshse֔h ve'im-lo֥ tipedּe֖h va'arapetּ֑o kּo֣l bּek֤or bּane֨yka֙ tּipedּe֔h veloֽ'-yera'֥u pana֖y reyqaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But the firstling of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb: and if you redeem him not, then shall you break his neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before Me empty.

וּפֶ֤טֶר חֲמוֹר֙ תִּפְדֶּ֣ה בְשֶׂ֔ה וְאִם־לֹ֥א תִפְדֶּ֖ה וַעֲרַפְתּ֑וֹ כֹּ֣ל בְּכ֤וֹר בָּנֶ֨יךָ֙ תִּפְדֶּ֔ה וְלֹֽא־יֵרָא֥וּ פָנַ֖י רֵיקָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshe֤shshet yamiym֙ tּa'abo֔d ubayּ֥om hashshּebiy'i֖y tּishshebּo֑t bּechari֥yshsh ubaqּatzi֖yr tּishshebּoֽt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: in the time of sowing and in harvest you shall rest.

שֵׁ֤שֶׁת יָמִים֙ תַּעֲבֹ֔ד וּבַיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י תִּשְׁבֹּ֑ת בֶּחָרִ֥ישׁ וּבַקָּצִ֖יר תִּשְׁבֹּֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vecha֤g shshabu'ot֙ tּa'ashse֣h leka֔ bּikּure֖y qetzi֣yr chitּi֑ym vechag֙ haֽ'asi֔yp tּequpa֖t hashshּanaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And you shall observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.

וְחַ֤ג שָׁבֻעֹת֙ תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה לְךָ֔ בִּכּוּרֵ֖י קְצִ֣יר חִטִּ֑ים וְחַג֙ הָֽאָסִ֔יף תְּקוּפַ֖ת הַשָּׁנָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshalo֥shsh pּe'ami֖ym bּashshּana֑h yera'eh֙ kּal-zek֣ureka֔ 'et-pּene֛y haֽ'ado֥n ׀ yehva֖h 'elohe֥y yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Thrice in the year shall all your men-children appear before the LORD God, the God of Israel.

שָׁלֹ֥שׁ פְּעָמִ֖ים בַּשָּׁנָ֑ה יֵרָאֶה֙ כָּל־זְכ֣וּרְךָ֔ אֶת־פְּנֵ֛י הָֽאָדֹ֥ן ׀ יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiֽy-'ori֤yshsh gּoyim֙ mipּane֔yka vehirechabetּi֖y 'et-gּebule֑ka velo'-yachemo֥d 'iyshsh֙ 'eֽt-'aretzeka֔ bּa'aloֽteka֗ lera'ot֙ 'et-pּeney֙ yehva֣h 'elohe֔yka shshalo֥shsh pּe'ami֖ym bּashshּanaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For I will cast out the nations before you, and enlarge your borders: neither shall any man desire your land, when you shall go up to appear before the LORD your God thrice in the year.

כִּֽי־אוֹרִ֤ישׁ גּוֹיִם֙ מִפָּנֶ֔יךָ וְהִרְחַבְתִּ֖י אֶת־גְּבוּלֶ֑ךָ וְלֹא־יַחְמֹ֥ד אִישׁ֙ אֶֽת־אַרְצְךָ֔ בַּעֲלֹֽתְךָ֗ לֵרָאוֹת֙ אֶת־פְּנֵי֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ שָׁלֹ֥שׁ פְּעָמִ֖ים בַּשָּׁנָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): loֽ'-tishshecha֥t 'al-chame֖tz dּam-zibechi֑y velo'-yali֣yn labּo֔qer ze֖bach cha֥g hapּaֽsach׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left until the morning.

לֹֽא־תִשְׁחַ֥ט עַל־חָמֵ֖ץ דַּם־זִבְחִ֑י וְלֹא־יָלִ֣ין לַבֹּ֔קֶר זֶ֖בַח חַ֥ג הַפָּֽסַח׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): re'shshi֗yt bּikּurey֙ 'adema֣teka֔ tּabi֕y bּe֖yt yehva֣h 'elohe֑yka lo'-tebashshּe֥l gּedi֖y bּachale֥b 'imּֽo׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)The first of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring unto the house of the LORD your God. You shall not boil a kid in his mother's milk.

רֵאשִׁ֗ית בִּכּוּרֵי֙ אַדְמָ֣תְךָ֔ תָּבִ֕יא בֵּ֖ית יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ לֹא־תְבַשֵּׁ֥ל גְּדִ֖י בַּחֲלֵ֥ב אִמּֽוֹ׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֤'mer yehvah֙ 'el-moshshe֔h kּetab-leka֖ 'et-hadּebari֣ym ha'e֑lּeh kּi֞y 'al-pּi֣y ׀ hadּebari֣ym ha'e֗lּeh kּara֧tּiy 'itּeka֛ bּeri֖yt ve'et-yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the LORD said unto Moses, "Write these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel."

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה כְּתָב־לְךָ֖ אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה כִּ֞י עַל־פִּ֣י ׀ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה כָּרַ֧תִּי אִתְּךָ֛ בְּרִ֖ית וְאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vֽayehiy-shsha֣m 'im-yehva֗h 'arebּa'i֥ym yom֙ ve'arebּa'i֣ym la֔yelah le֚chem lo֣ 'aka֔l uma֖yim lo֣ shshata֑h vayּiketּo֣b 'al-halּucho֗t 'e֚t dּibere֣y habּeri֔yt 'ashse֖ret hadּebariֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread nor drink water. And He wrote upon the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

וַֽיְהִי־שָׁ֣ם עִם־יְהוָ֗ה אַרְבָּעִ֥ים יוֹם֙ וְאַרְבָּעִ֣ים לַ֔יְלָה לֶ֚חֶם לֹ֣א אָכַ֔ל וּמַ֖יִם לֹ֣א שָׁתָ֑ה וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב עַל־הַלֻּחֹ֗ת אֵ֚ת דִּבְרֵ֣י הַבְּרִ֔ית עֲשֶׂ֖רֶת הַדְּבָרִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayehi֗y bּere֤det moshsheh֙ meha֣r siyna֔y ushshene֨y lucho֤t haֽ'edut֙ bּeyad-moshshe֔h bּeridetּ֖o min-haha֑r umoshshe֣h loֽ'-yada֗ kּi֥y qara֛n '֥or pּana֖yv bּedabּer֥o 'itּֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And it came to pass, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of Testimony in Moses' hand, that Moses knew not that the [1] (skin of his face shone) while he talked with Him.

וַיְהִ֗י בְּרֶ֤דֶת מֹשֶׁה֙ מֵהַ֣ר סִינַ֔י וּשְׁנֵ֨י לֻחֹ֤ת הָֽעֵדֻת֙ בְּיַד־מֹשֶׁ֔ה בְּרִדְתּ֖וֹ מִן־הָהָ֑ר וּמֹשֶׁ֣ה לֹֽא־יָדַ֗ע כִּ֥י קָרַ֛ן ע֥וֹר פָּנָ֖יו בְּדַבְּר֥וֹ אִתּֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֨re 'aharo֜n vekal-bּene֤y yishsera'el֙ 'et-moshshe֔h vehinּe֥h qara֖n '֣or pּana֑yv vayּiֽyre'֖u migּe֥shshet 'elaֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.

וַיַּ֨רְא אַהֲרֹ֜ן וְכָל־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְהִנֵּ֥ה קָרַ֖ן ע֣וֹר פָּנָ֑יו וַיִּֽירְא֖וּ מִגֶּ֥שֶׁת אֵלָֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqera֤ 'alehem֙ moshshe֔h vayּashshu֧bu 'ela֛yv 'aharo֥n vekal-hanּeshsi'i֖ym bּa'eda֑h vayedabּe֥r moshshe֖h 'aleheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.

וַיִּקְרָ֤א אֲלֵהֶם֙ מֹשֶׁ֔ה וַיָּשֻׁ֧בוּ אֵלָ֛יו אַהֲרֹ֥ן וְכָל־הַנְּשִׂאִ֖ים בָּעֵדָ֑ה וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֲלֵהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'acharey-ke֥n nigּeshsh֖u kּal-bּene֣y yishsera'e֑l vayetzaue֕m 'et֩ kּal-'ashshe֨r dּibּe֧r yehva֛h 'itּ֖o bּeha֥r siynaֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And afterward all the children of Israel came near: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in Mount Sinai.

וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵ֥ן נִגְּשׁ֖וּ כָּל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיְצַוֵּ֕ם אֵת֩ כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה אִתּ֖וֹ בְּהַ֥ר סִינָֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayeka֣l moshshe֔h midּabּe֖r 'itּa֑m vayּitּe֥n 'al-pּana֖yv maseveֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And until Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face.

וַיְכַ֣ל מֹשֶׁ֔ה מִדַּבֵּ֖ר אִתָּ֑ם וַיִּתֵּ֥ן עַל־פָּנָ֖יו מַסְוֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubebo֨ moshshe֜h lipene֤y yehvah֙ ledabּe֣r 'itּ֔o yasi֥yr 'et-hamּaseve֖h 'ad-tze't֑o veyatza֗ vedibּer֙ 'el-bּene֣y yishsera'e֔l 'e֖t 'ashshe֥r yetzueֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he took the veil off, until he came out. And he came out, and spoke unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.

וּבְבֹ֨א מֹשֶׁ֜ה לִפְנֵ֤י יְהוָה֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר אִתּ֔וֹ יָסִ֥יר אֶת־הַמַּסְוֶ֖ה עַד־צֵאת֑וֹ וְיָצָ֗א וְדִבֶּר֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֖ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְצֻוֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vera'֤u beneֽy-yishsera'el֙ 'et-pּene֣y moshshe֔h kּi֣y qara֔n '֖or pּene֣y moshshe֑h veheshshi֨yb moshshe֤h 'et-hamּaseveh֙ 'al-pּana֔yv 'ad-bּo'֖o ledabּe֥r 'itּֽo׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the veil upon his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.

וְרָא֤וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶת־פְּנֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה כִּ֣י קָרַ֔ן ע֖וֹר פְּנֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֑ה וְהֵשִׁ֨יב מֹשֶׁ֤ה אֶת־הַמַּסְוֶה֙ עַל־פָּנָ֔יו עַד־בֹּא֖וֹ לְדַבֵּ֥ר אִתּֽוֹ׃ס
