Chapter 40

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּeyom-hacho֥deshsh hari'shsh֖on bּe'echa֣d lacho֑deshsh tּaqi֕ym 'et-mishshekּa֖n 'o֥hel mo'eֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"On the first day of the first month shall you set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation."

בְּיוֹם־הַחֹ֥דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֖וֹן בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ תָּקִ֕ים אֶת־מִשְׁכַּ֖ן אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshsametּa֣ shsha֔m 'e֖t 'ar֣on ha'ed֑ut vesakּota֥ 'al-ha'aro֖n 'et-hapּaroֽket׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall put therein the ark of the Testimony, and cover the ark with the veil."

וְשַׂמְתָּ֣ שָׁ֔ם אֵ֖ת אֲר֣וֹן הָעֵד֑וּת וְסַכֹּתָ֥ עַל־הָאָרֹ֖ן אֶת־הַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehebe'ta֙ 'et-hashshּulecha֔n ve'araketּa֖ 'et-'erekּ֑o vehebe'ta֙ 'et-hamּenora֔h veha'aleyta֖ 'et-neroteֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and you shall bring in the lampstand, and light the lamps thereof."

וְהֵבֵאתָ֙ אֶת־הַשֻּׁלְחָ֔ן וְעָרַכְתָּ֖ אֶת־עֶרְכּ֑וֹ וְהֵבֵאתָ֙ אֶת־הַמְּנֹרָ֔ה וְהַעֲלֵיתָ֖ אֶת־נֵרֹתֶֽיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venatatּa֞h 'et-mizebּa֤ch hazּahab֙ liqeto֔ret lipene֖y 'ar֣on ha'edu֑t veshsametּa֛ 'et-masa֥ke hapּe֖tach lamּishshekּaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the Testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle."

וְנָתַתָּ֞ה אֶת־מִזְבַּ֤ח הַזָּהָב֙ לִקְטֹ֔רֶת לִפְנֵ֖י אֲר֣וֹן הָעֵדֻ֑ת וְשַׂמְתָּ֛ אֶת־מָסַ֥ךְ הַפֶּ֖תַח לַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vena֣tatּa֔h 'e֖t mizebּa֣ch ha'ola֑h lipene֕y pּe֖tach mishshekּa֥n 'oֽhel-mo'eֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation."

וְנָ֣תַתָּ֔ה אֵ֖ת מִזְבַּ֣ח הָעֹלָ֑ה לִפְנֵ֕י פֶּ֖תַח מִשְׁכַּ֥ן אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venaֽtatּa֙ 'et-hakּiyּo֔r bּeֽyn-'o֥hel mo'e֖d ube֣yn hamּizebּe֑cha venatatּa֥ shsha֖m maֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shall put water therein."

וְנָֽתַתָּ֙ אֶת־הַכִּיֹּ֔ר בֵּֽין־אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵ֖ד וּבֵ֣ין הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וְנָתַתָּ֥ שָׁ֖ם מָֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshsametּa֥ 'et-hechatze֖r sabi֑yb vena֣tatּa֔ 'et-masa֖ke shsha֥'ar hechatzeֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall set up the courtyard round about, and hang up the hanging at the courtyard gate."

וְשַׂמְתָּ֥ אֶת־הֶחָצֵ֖ר סָבִ֑יב וְנָ֣תַתָּ֔ אֶת־מָסַ֖ךְ שַׁ֥עַר הֶחָצֵֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqachetּa֙ 'et-shshe֣men hamּishshecha֔h umashshachetּa֥ 'et-hamּishshekּa֖n ve'et-kּal-'ashsher-bּ֑o veqidּashshetּa֥ 'ot֛o ve'et-kּal-kּela֖yv veha֥yah qoֽdeshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shall hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy."

וְלָקַחְתָּ֙ אֶת־שֶׁ֣מֶן הַמִּשְׁחָ֔ה וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֥ אֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן וְאֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־בּ֑וֹ וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֥ אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת־כָּל־כֵּלָ֖יו וְהָ֥יָה קֹֽדֶשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umashshachetּa֛ 'et-mizebּa֥ch ha'ola֖h ve'et-kּal-kּela֑yv veqidּashshetּa֙ 'et-hamּizebּe֔cha vehaya֥h hamּizebּe֖cha qo֥deshsh qֽadashshiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all its vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy."

וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֛ אֶת־מִזְבַּ֥ח הָעֹלָ֖ה וְאֶת־כָּל־כֵּלָ֑יו וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֙ אֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וְהָיָ֥ה הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ קֹ֥דֶשׁ קָֽדָשִֽׁים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umashshachetּa֥ 'et-hakּiyּo֖r ve'et-kּanּ֑o veqidּashshetּa֖ 'otֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall anoint the laver and its foot, and sanctify it."

וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֥ אֶת־הַכִּיֹּ֖ר וְאֶת־כַּנּ֑וֹ וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֖ אֹתֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehiqerabetּa֤ 'eֽt-'aharon֙ ve'et-bּana֔yv 'el-pּe֖tach 'o֣hel mo'e֑d verachatzetּa֥ 'ota֖m bּamּaֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water."

וְהִקְרַבְתָּ֤ אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ וְאֶת־בָּנָ֔יו אֶל־פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד וְרָחַצְתָּ֥ אֹתָ֖ם בַּמָּֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehilebּashshetּa֙ 'eֽt-'aharo֔n 'e֖t bּigede֣y haqּo֑deshsh umashshachetּa֥ 'ot֛o veqidּashshetּa֥ 'ot֖o vekihe֥n liֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto Me in the priest's office."

וְהִלְבַּשְׁתָּ֙ אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹ֔ן אֵ֖ת בִּגְדֵ֣י הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֥ אֹת֛וֹ וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֥ אֹת֖וֹ וְכִהֵ֥ן לִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-bּana֖yv tּaqeri֑yb vehilebּashshetּa֥ 'ota֖m kּutּonoֽt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall bring his sons, and clothe them with coats:"

וְאֶת־בָּנָ֖יו תַּקְרִ֑יב וְהִלְבַּשְׁתָּ֥ אֹתָ֖ם כֻּתֳּנֹֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umashshachetּa֣ 'ota֗m kּa'ashshe֤r mashsha֨chetּa֙ 'et-'abiyhe֔m vekihan֖u li֑y ve֠hayetah liheyo֨t lahe֧m mashshechata֛m likehunּa֥t 'ola֖m ledorotaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall anoint them, as you did anoint their father, that they may minister unto Me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations."

וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֣ אֹתָ֗ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר מָשַׁ֨חְתָּ֙ אֶת־אֲבִיהֶ֔ם וְכִהֲנ֖וּ לִ֑י וְ֠הָיְתָה לִהְיֹ֨ת לָהֶ֧ם מָשְׁחָתָ֛ם לִכְהֻנַּ֥ת עוֹלָ֖ם לְדֹרֹתָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֖'ashs moshshe֑h kּe֠kol 'ashshe֨r tziua֧h yehva֛h 'ot֖o kּe֥n 'ashsaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he.

וַיַּ֖עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֑ה כְּ֠כֹל אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה אֹת֖וֹ כֵּ֥ן עָשָֽׂה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayehi֞y bּacho֧deshsh hari'shsh֛on bּashshּana֥h hashshּeni֖yt bּe'echa֣d lacho֑deshsh huqa֖m hamּishshekּaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.

וַיְהִ֞י בַּחֹ֧דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֛וֹן בַּשָּׁנָ֥ה הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ הוּקַ֖ם הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֨qem moshshe֜h 'et-hamּishshekּa֗n vayּitּen֙ 'et-'adana֔yv vayּa֨shsem֙ 'et-qerashsha֔yv vayּitּe֖n 'et-bּeriycha֑yv vayּa֖qem 'et-'amּudaֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened its sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up its pillars.

וַיָּ֨קֶם מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּ֗ן וַיִּתֵּן֙ אֶת־אֲדָנָ֔יו וַיָּ֨שֶׂם֙ אֶת־קְרָשָׁ֔יו וַיִּתֵּ֖ן אֶת־בְּרִיחָ֑יו וַיָּ֖קֶם אֶת־עַמּוּדָֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּipero֤shs 'et-ha'o֨hel֙ 'al-hamּishshekּa֔n vayּa֜shsem 'et-mikese֥h ha'o֛hel 'ala֖yv milema֑'elah kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the LORD commanded Moses.

וַיִּפְרֹ֤שׂ אֶת־הָאֹ֨הֶל֙ עַל־הַמִּשְׁכָּ֔ן וַיָּ֜שֶׂם אֶת־מִכְסֵ֥ה הָאֹ֛הֶל עָלָ֖יו מִלְמָ֑עְלָה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqּa֞ch vayּitּe֤n 'et-ha'edut֙ 'el-ha֣'aro֔n vayּa֥shsem 'et-habּadּi֖ym 'al-ha'aro֑n vayּitּe֧n 'et-hakּapּo֛ret 'al-ha'aro֖n milemaֽ'elah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And he took and put the Testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark.

וַיִּקַּ֞ח וַיִּתֵּ֤ן אֶת־הָעֵדֻת֙ אֶל־הָ֣אָרֹ֔ן וַיָּ֥שֶׂם אֶת־הַבַּדִּ֖ים עַל־הָאָרֹ֑ן וַיִּתֵּ֧ן אֶת־הַכַּפֹּ֛רֶת עַל־הָאָרֹ֖ן מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּabe֣ 'et-ha'aron֮ 'el-hamּishshekּan֒ vayּa֗shsem 'e֚t pּaro֣ket hamּasa֔ke vayּa֕seke 'a֖l 'ar֣on ha'ed֑ut kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the covering, and covered the ark of the Testimony; as the LORD commanded Moses.

וַיָּבֵ֣א אֶת־הָאָרֹן֮ אֶל־הַמִּשְׁכָּן֒ וַיָּ֗שֶׂם אֵ֚ת פָּרֹ֣כֶת הַמָּסָ֔ךְ וַיָּ֕סֶךְ עַ֖ל אֲר֣וֹן הָעֵד֑וּת כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּitּe֤n 'et-hashshּulechan֙ bּe'o֣hel mo'e֔d 'a֛l ye֥reke hamּishshekּa֖n tzapo֑nah mich֖utz lapּaroֽket׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, outside the veil.

וַיִּתֵּ֤ן אֶת־הַשֻּׁלְחָן֙ בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד עַ֛ל יֶ֥רֶךְ הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן צָפֹ֑נָה מִח֖וּץ לַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa'aro֥ke 'ala֛yv 'e֥reke le֖chem lipene֣y yehva֑h kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)And he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD; as the LORD had commanded Moses.

וַיַּעֲרֹ֥ךְ עָלָ֛יו עֵ֥רֶךְ לֶ֖חֶם לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֤shsem 'et-hamּenorah֙ bּe'o֣hel mo'e֔d no֖kach hashshּulecha֑n 'a֛l ye֥reke hamּishshekּa֖n neֽgebּah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle

וַיָּ֤שֶׂם אֶת־הַמְּנֹרָה֙ בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד נֹ֖כַח הַשֻּׁלְחָ֑ן עַ֛ל יֶ֥רֶךְ הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן נֶֽגְבָּה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'al hanּero֖t lipene֣y yehva֑h kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)and set up the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD commanded him.

וַיַּ֥עַל הַנֵּרֹ֖ת לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֛shsem 'et-mizebּa֥ch hazּaha֖b bּe'o֣hel mo'e֑d lipene֖y hapּaroֽket׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Moses placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain

וַיָּ֛שֶׂם אֶת־מִזְבַּ֥ח הַזָּהָ֖ב בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד לִפְנֵ֖י הַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּaqete֥r 'ala֖yv qeto֣ret samּi֑ym kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)and burned fragrant incense on it, as the LORD commanded him.

וַיַּקְטֵ֥ר עָלָ֖יו קְטֹ֣רֶת סַמִּ֑ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֛shsem 'et-masa֥ke hapּe֖tach lamּishshekּaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then he put up the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.

וַיָּ֛שֶׂם אֶת־מָסַ֥ךְ הַפֶּ֖תַח לַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et֙ mizebּa֣ch ha'ola֔h shsa֕m pּe֖tach mishshekּa֣n 'oֽhel-mo'e֑d vayּa֣'al 'ala֗yv 'et-ha'olah֙ ve'et-hamּinecha֔h kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)He set the altar of burnt offering near the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered on it burnt offerings and grain offerings, as the LORD commanded him.

וְאֵת֙ מִזְבַּ֣ח הָעֹלָ֔ה שָׂ֕ם פֶּ֖תַח מִשְׁכַּ֣ן אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵ֑ד וַיַּ֣עַל עָלָ֗יו אֶת־הָעֹלָה֙ וְאֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֨shsem֙ 'et-hakּiyּo֔r bּeֽyn-'o֥hel mo'e֖d ube֣yn hamּizebּe֑cha vayּitּe֥n shsha֛mּah ma֖yim lerachetzaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He placed the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing,

וַיָּ֨שֶׂם֙ אֶת־הַכִּיֹּ֔ר בֵּֽין־אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵ֖ד וּבֵ֣ין הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וַיִּתֵּ֥ן שָׁ֛מָּה מַ֖יִם לְרָחְצָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): verachatz֣u mimּe֔nּu moshshe֖h ve'aharo֣n ubana֑yv 'et-yedeyhe֖m ve'et-rageleyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)and Moses and Aaron and his sons used it to wash their hands and feet.

וְרָחֲצ֣וּ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן וּבָנָ֑יו אֶת־יְדֵיהֶ֖ם וְאֶת־רַגְלֵיהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּebo'a֞m 'el-'o֣hel mo'e֗d ubeqarebata֛m 'el-hamּizebּe֖cha yirecha֑tzu kּa'ashshe֛r tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)They washed whenever they entered the tent of meeting or approached the altar, as the LORD commanded Moses.

בְּבֹאָ֞ם אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֗ד וּבְקָרְבָתָ֛ם אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ יִרְחָ֑צוּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֣qem 'et-hechatze֗r sabiyb֙ lamּishshekּa֣n velamּizebּe֔cha vayּitּe֕n 'et-masa֖ke shsha֣'ar hechatze֑r vayeka֥l moshshe֖h 'et-hamּela'kaֽh׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work.

וַיָּ֣קֶם אֶת־הֶחָצֵ֗ר סָבִיב֙ לַמִּשְׁכָּ֣ן וְלַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וַיִּתֵּ֕ן אֶת־מָסַ֖ךְ שַׁ֣עַר הֶחָצֵ֑ר וַיְכַ֥ל מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶת־הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayeka֥s he'ana֖n 'et-'o֣hel mo'e֑d ukeb֣od yehva֔h male֖ 'et-hamּishshekּaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

וַיְכַ֥ס הֶעָנָ֖ן אֶת־אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד וּכְב֣וֹד יְהוָ֔ה מָלֵ֖א אֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): velo'-yako֣l moshshe֗h labo'֙ 'el-'o֣hel mo'e֔d kּiֽy-shshaka֥n 'ala֖yv he'ana֑n ukeb֣od yehva֔h male֖ 'et-hamּishshekּaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

וְלֹא־יָכֹ֣ל מֹשֶׁ֗ה לָבוֹא֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד כִּֽי־שָׁכַ֥ן עָלָ֖יו הֶעָנָ֑ן וּכְב֣וֹד יְהוָ֔ה מָלֵ֖א אֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubehe'al֤ot heֽ'anan֙ me'a֣l hamּishshekּa֔n yise'֖u bּene֣y yishsera'e֑l bּeko֖l mase'eyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out;

וּבְהֵעָל֤וֹת הֶֽעָנָן֙ מֵעַ֣ל הַמִּשְׁכָּ֔ן יִסְע֖וּ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל בְּכֹ֖ל מַסְעֵיהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-lo֥ ye'ale֖h he'ana֑n velo֣ yise'֔u 'ad-y֖om he'alotֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out, until the day it lifted.

וְאִם־לֹ֥א יֵעָלֶ֖ה הֶעָנָ֑ן וְלֹ֣א יִסְע֔וּ עַד־י֖וֹם הֵעָלֹתֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy֩ 'ana֨n yehva֤h 'aֽl-hamּishshekּan֙ yoma֔m ve'e֕shsh tּiheye֥h la֖yelah bּ֑o le'eyne֥y kal-bּeֽyt-yishsera'e֖l bּekal-mase'eyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.

כִּי֩ עֲנַ֨ן יְהוָ֤ה עַֽל־הַמִּשְׁכָּן֙ יוֹמָ֔ם וְאֵ֕שׁ תִּהְיֶ֥ה לַ֖יְלָה בּ֑וֹ לְעֵינֵ֥י כָל־בֵּֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּכָל־מַסְעֵיהֶֽם׃
