Chapter 18

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayehi֥y debar-yehva֖h 'ela֥y le'moֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The word of the LORD came to me again, saying,

וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): mah-lּake֗m 'atּem֙ moֽshsheliym֙ 'et-hamּashsha֣l hazּe֔h 'al-'adema֥t yishsera'e֖l le'mo֑r 'abot֙ yo֣'kelu bo֔ser veshshinּe֥y habּani֖ym tּiqeheֽynah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"What mean you, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?'"

מַה־לָּכֶ֗ם אַתֶּם֙ מֹֽשְׁלִים֙ אֶת־הַמָּשָׁ֣ל הַזֶּ֔ה עַל־אַדְמַ֥ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר אָבוֹת֙ יֹ֣אכְלוּ בֹ֔סֶר וְשִׁנֵּ֥י הַבָּנִ֖ים תִּקְהֶֽינָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): chay-'a֕niy ne'u֖m 'adona֣y yehvi֑h 'im-yiֽheye֨h lake֜m '֗od meshsho֛l hamּashsha֥l hazּe֖h bּeyishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"As I live," says the Lord GOD, "you shall not have occasion anymore to use this proverb in Israel."

חַי־אָ֕נִי נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה אִם־יִֽהְיֶ֨ה לָכֶ֜ם ע֗וֹד מְשֹׁ֛ל הַמָּשָׁ֥ל הַזֶּ֖ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): he֤n kּal-hanּepashshot֙ li֣y he֔nּah kּene֧peshsh ha'a֛b ukene֥peshsh habּe֖n liy-he֑nּah hanּe֥peshsh hachote֖'t hi֥y tamֽut׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"Behold, all souls are Mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine: the soul that sins, it shall die."

הֵ֤ן כָּל־הַנְּפָשׁוֹת֙ לִ֣י הֵ֔נָּה כְּנֶ֧פֶשׁ הָאָ֛ב וּכְנֶ֥פֶשׁ הַבֵּ֖ן לִי־הֵ֑נָּה הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַחֹטֵ֖את הִ֥יא תָמֽוּת׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'i֖yshsh kּiy-yiheye֣h tzadּi֑yq ve'ashsa֥h mishshepּa֖t utzedaqaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,"

וְאִ֖ישׁ כִּי־יִהְיֶ֣ה צַדִּ֑יק וְעָשָׂ֥ה מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וּצְדָקָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): el-heֽhariym֙ lo֣ 'aka֔l ve'eynayv֙ lo֣ nashsa֔ 'el-gּilּule֖y bּe֣yt yishsera'e֑l ve'et-'e֤shshet re'e֨hu֙ lo֣ timּe֔ ve'el-'ishshּa֥h nidּa֖h lo֥ yiqeraֽb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And has not eaten upon the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither has defiled his neighbour's wife, neither has come near to a menstruous woman,"

אֶל־הֶֽהָרִים֙ לֹ֣א אָכָ֔ל וְעֵינָיו֙ לֹ֣א נָשָׂ֔א אֶל־גִּלּוּלֵ֖י בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְאֶת־אֵ֤שֶׁת רֵעֵ֨הוּ֙ לֹ֣א טִמֵּ֔א וְאֶל־אִשָּׁ֥ה נִדָּ֖ה לֹ֥א יִקְרָֽב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'iyshsh֙ lo֣ yone֔h chabolat֥o chob֙ yashshi֔yb gּezela֖h lo֣ yigezo֑l lachemo֙ lera'e֣b yitּe֔n ve'eyro֖m yekasּeh-bּaֽged׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And has not oppressed any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has spoiled none by violence, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment;"

וְאִישׁ֙ לֹ֣א יוֹנֶ֔ה חֲבֹלָת֥וֹ חוֹב֙ יָשִׁ֔יב גְּזֵלָ֖ה לֹ֣א יִגְזֹ֑ל לַחְמוֹ֙ לְרָעֵ֣ב יִתֵּ֔ן וְעֵירֹ֖ם יְכַסֶּה־בָּֽגֶד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּanּe֣shsheke loֽ'-yitּe֗n vetarebּiyt֙ lo֣ yiqּa֔ch me'a֖vel yashshi֣yb yad֑o mishshepּa֤t 'emet֙ yaֽ'ashse֔h bּe֥yn 'i֖yshsh le'iֽyshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"He that has not given forth upon usury, neither has taken any increase, that has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true judgement between man and man,"

בַּנֶּ֣שֶׁךְ לֹֽא־יִתֵּ֗ן וְתַרְבִּית֙ לֹ֣א יִקָּ֔ח מֵעָ֖וֶל יָשִׁ֣יב יָד֑וֹ מִשְׁפַּ֤ט אֱמֶת֙ יַֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה בֵּ֥ין אִ֖ישׁ לְאִֽישׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּechuqּota֧y yehalּe֛ke umishshepּata֥y shshama֖r la'ashs֣ot 'eme֑t tzadּi֥yq hu'֙ chayo֣h yiֽcheye֔h ne'u֖m 'adona֥y yehviֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Has walked in My statutes, and has kept My judgements, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live," says the Lord GOD.

בְּחֻקּוֹתַ֧י יְהַלֵּ֛ךְ וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֥י שָׁמַ֖ר לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת אֱמֶ֑ת צַדִּ֥יק הוּא֙ חָיֹ֣ה יִֽחְיֶ֔ה נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veholi֥yd bּen-pּari֖ytz shshope֣ke dּa֑m ve'a֣shsah 'a֔ch me'acha֖d me'eֽlּeh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that does the like to any one of these things,"

וְהוֹלִ֥יד בֵּן־פָּרִ֖יץ שֹׁפֵ֣ךְ דָּ֑ם וְעָ֣שָׂה אָ֔ח מֵאַחַ֖ד מֵאֵֽלֶּה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veh֕u 'et-kּal-'e֖lּeh lo֣ 'ashsa֑h kּi֣y ga֤m 'el-heֽhariym֙ 'aka֔l ve'et-'e֥shshet re'e֖hu timּeֽ'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And that does not any of those duties, but even has eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,"

וְה֕וּא אֶת־כָּל־אֵ֖לֶּה לֹ֣א עָשָׂ֑ה כִּ֣י גַ֤ם אֶל־הֶֽהָרִים֙ אָכַ֔ל וְאֶת־אֵ֥שֶׁת רֵעֵ֖הוּ טִמֵּֽא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ani֤y ve'ebeyon֙ hona֔h gּezel֣ot gּaza֔l chabo֖l lo֣ yashshi֑yb ve'el-hagּilּuliym֙ nashsa֣ 'eyna֔yv tּo'eba֖h 'ashsaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Has oppressed the poor and needy, has spoiled by violence, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination,"

עָנִ֤י וְאֶבְיוֹן֙ הוֹנָ֔ה גְּזֵל֣וֹת גָּזָ֔ל חֲבֹ֖ל לֹ֣א יָשִׁ֑יב וְאֶל־הַגִּלּוּלִים֙ נָשָׂ֣א עֵינָ֔יו תּוֹעֵבָ֖ה עָשָֽׂה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּanּe֧shsheke nata֛n vetarebּi֥yt laqa֖ch vacha֑y lo֣ yiֽcheye֗h 'e֣t kּal-hatּo'eb֤ot ha'e֨lּeh֙ 'ashsa֔h m֣ot yuma֔t dּama֖yv bּ֥o yiheyeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Has given forth upon usury, and has taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him."

בַּנֶּ֧שֶׁךְ נָתַ֛ן וְתַרְבִּ֥ית לָקַ֖ח וָחָ֑י לֹ֣א יִֽחְיֶ֗ה אֵ֣ת כָּל־הַתּוֹעֵב֤וֹת הָאֵ֨לֶּה֙ עָשָׂ֔ה מ֣וֹת יוּמָ֔ת דָּמָ֖יו בּ֥וֹ יִהְיֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehinּeh֙ holi֣yd bּe֔n vayּa֕re 'et-kּal-chatּo֥'t 'abi֖yv 'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֑h vayּire'e֕h velo֥ ya'ashse֖h kּaheֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will bring again the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their habitation; and they shall be there a base kingdom."

וְהִנֵּה֙ הוֹלִ֣יד בֵּ֔ן וַיַּ֕רְא אֶת־כָּל־חַטֹּ֥את אָבִ֖יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה וַיִּרְאֶ֕ה וְלֹ֥א יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה כָּהֵֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-heֽhariym֙ lo֣ 'aka֔l ve'eynayv֙ lo֣ nashsa֔ 'el-gּilּule֖y bּe֣yt yishsera'e֑l 'et-'e֥shshet re'e֖hu lo֥ timּeֽ'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"That has not eaten upon the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbour's wife,"

עַל־הֶֽהָרִים֙ לֹ֣א אָכָ֔ל וְעֵינָיו֙ לֹ֣א נָשָׂ֔א אֶל־גִּלּוּלֵ֖י בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֶת־אֵ֥שֶׁת רֵעֵ֖הוּ לֹ֥א טִמֵּֽא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'iyshsh֙ lo֣ hona֔h chabol֙ lo֣ chaba֔l ugezela֖h lo֣ gaza֑l lachemo֙ lera'e֣b nata֔n ve'er֖om kּisּah-baֽged׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Neither has oppressed any, has not withholden the pledge, neither has spoiled by violence, but has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment,"

וְאִישׁ֙ לֹ֣א הוֹנָ֔ה חֲבֹל֙ לֹ֣א חָבָ֔ל וּגְזֵלָ֖ה לֹ֣א גָזָ֑ל לַחְמוֹ֙ לְרָעֵ֣ב נָתָ֔ן וְעֵר֖וֹם כִּסָּה־בָֽגֶד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): me'ani֞y heshshi֣yb yad֗o ne֤shsheke vetarebּiyt֙ lo֣ laqa֔ch mishshepּata֣y 'ashsa֔h bּechuqּota֖y hala֑ke h֗u lo֥ yam֛ut bּa'avo֥n 'abi֖yv chayo֥h yicheyeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"That has taken off his hand from the poor, that has not received usury nor increase, has executed My judgements, has walked in My statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live."

מֵעָנִ֞י הֵשִׁ֣יב יָד֗וֹ נֶ֤שֶׁךְ וְתַרְבִּית֙ לֹ֣א לָקָ֔ח מִשְׁפָּטַ֣י עָשָׂ֔ה בְּחֻקּוֹתַ֖י הָלָ֑ךְ ה֗וּא לֹ֥א יָמ֛וּת בַּעֲוֺ֥ן אָבִ֖יו חָיֹ֥ה יִחְיֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): abi֞yv kּiֽy-'a֣shshaq 'o֗shsheq gּazal֙ gּe֣zel 'a֔ch va'ashshe֥r lo'-t֛ob 'ashsa֖h bּet֣oke 'amּa֑yv vehinּeh-me֖t bּa'avonֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity."

אָבִ֞יו כִּֽי־עָ֣שַׁק עֹ֗שֶׁק גָּזַל֙ גֵּ֣זֶל אָ֔ח וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־ט֛וֹב עָשָׂ֖ה בְּת֣וֹךְ עַמָּ֑יו וְהִנֵּה־מֵ֖ת בַּעֲוֺנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'amaretּe֕m madּu֛'a lo'-nashsa֥ habּe֖n bּa'avo֣n ha'a֑b vehabּe֞n mishshepּa֧t utzedaqa֣h 'ashsa֗h 'e֣t kּal-chuqּota֥y shshama֛r vayּa'ashse֥h 'ota֖m chayo֥h yicheyeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Yet say you, 'Why? does not the son bear the iniquity of the father?' When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all My statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live."

וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕ם מַדֻּ֛עַ לֹא־נָשָׂ֥א הַבֵּ֖ן בַּעֲוֺ֣ן הָאָ֑ב וְהַבֵּ֞ן מִשְׁפָּ֧ט וּצְדָקָ֣ה עָשָׂ֗ה אֵ֣ת כָּל־חֻקּוֹתַ֥י שָׁמַ֛ר וַיַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה אֹתָ֖ם חָיֹ֥ה יִחְיֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hanּe֥peshsh hachote֖'t hi֣y tam֑ut bּe֞n lo'-yishsּa֣ ׀ bּa'avo֣n ha'a֗b ve'ab֙ lo֤ yishsּa'֙ bּa'avo֣n habּe֔n tzideqa֤t hatzּadּiyq֙ 'ala֣yv tּiֽheye֔h verishshe'a֥t rsh harashsha֖ 'ala֥yv tּiֽheyeֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."

הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַחֹטֵ֖את הִ֣יא תָמ֑וּת בֵּ֞ן לֹא־יִשָּׂ֣א ׀ בַּעֲוֺ֣ן הָאָ֗ב וְאָב֙ לֹ֤א יִשָּׂא֙ בַּעֲוֺ֣ן הַבֵּ֔ן צִדְקַ֤ת הַצַּדִּיק֙ עָלָ֣יו תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה וְרִשְׁעַ֥ת רשע הָרָשָׁ֖ע עָלָ֥יו תִּֽהְיֶֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): veharashsha֗ kּi֤y yashshub֙ mikּal-cht'tv chatּo'tayv֙ 'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֔h veshshamar֙ 'et-kּal-chuqּota֔y ve'ashsa֥h mishshepּa֖t utzedaqa֑h chayo֥h yicheye֖h lo֥ yamֽut׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep all My statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die."

וְהָרָשָׁ֗ע כִּ֤י יָשׁוּב֙ מִכָּל־חטאתו חַטֹּאתָיו֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה וְשָׁמַר֙ אֶת־כָּל־חֻקּוֹתַ֔י וְעָשָׂ֥ה מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וּצְדָקָ֑ה חָיֹ֥ה יִחְיֶ֖ה לֹ֥א יָמֽוּת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּal-pּeshsha'ayv֙ 'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֔h lo֥ yizּaker֖u l֑o bּetzideqat֥o 'ashsher-'ashsa֖h yiֽcheyeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"All his transgressions that he has committed, they shall not be mentioned to him: in his righteousness that he has done he shall live."

כָּל־פְּשָׁעָיו֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה לֹ֥א יִזָּכְר֖וּ ל֑וֹ בְּצִדְקָת֥וֹ אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֖ה יִֽחְיֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hechapo֤tz 'echepּotz֙ m֣ot rashsha֔ ne'u֖m 'adona֣y yehvi֑h hal֛o bּeshshub֥o midּeraka֖yv vechayaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?" says the Lord GOD: "and not that he should return from his ways, and live?"

הֶחָפֹ֤ץ אֶחְפֹּץ֙ מ֣וֹת רָשָׁ֔ע נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה הֲל֛וֹא בְּשׁוּב֥וֹ מִדְּרָכָ֖יו וְחָיָֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubeshsh֨ub tzadּi֤yq mitzּideqato֙ ve'a֣shsah 'a֔vel kּeko֨l hatּo'eb֜ot 'ashsher-'ashsa֧h harashsha֛ ya'ashse֖h vacha֑y kּal-tzdqtv tzideqota֤yv 'ashsher-'ashsah֙ lo֣ tizּaka֔renah bּema'al֧o 'ashsher-ma'a֛l ubechatּa't֥o 'ashsher-chata֖ bּa֥m yamֽut׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All his righteousness that he has done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die."

וּבְשׁ֨וּב צַדִּ֤יק מִצִּדְקָתוֹ֙ וְעָ֣שָׂה עָ֔וֶל כְּכֹ֨ל הַתּוֹעֵב֜וֹת אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֧ה הָרָשָׁ֛ע יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה וָחָ֑י כָּל־צדקתו צִדְקֹתָ֤יו אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה֙ לֹ֣א תִזָּכַ֔רְנָה בְּמַעֲל֧וֹ אֲשֶׁר־מָעַ֛ל וּבְחַטָּאת֥וֹ אֲשֶׁר־חָטָ֖א בָּ֥ם יָמֽוּת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'amaretּe֕m lo֥ yitּake֖n dּe֣reke 'adona֑y shshime'u-na'֙ bּe֣yt yishsera'e֔l hadarekּiy֙ lo֣ yitּake֔n halo֥ darekeyke֖m lo֥ yitּakeֽnu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Yet you say, 'The way of the Lord is not equal.' Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not My way equal? are not your ways unequal?"

וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕ם לֹ֥א יִתָּכֵ֖ן דֶּ֣רֶךְ אֲדֹנָ֑י שִׁמְעוּ־נָא֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הֲדַרְכִּי֙ לֹ֣א יִתָּכֵ֔ן הֲלֹ֥א דַרְכֵיכֶ֖ם לֹ֥א יִתָּכֵֽנוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּeshshub-tzadּi֧yq mitzּideqat֛o ve'a֥shsah 'a֖vel ume֣t 'aleyhe֑m bּe'avel֥o 'ashsher-'ashsa֖h yamֽut׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in them; for his iniquity that he has done shall he die."

בְּשׁוּב־צַדִּ֧יק מִצִּדְקָת֛וֹ וְעָ֥שָׂה עָ֖וֶל וּמֵ֣ת עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם בְּעַוְל֥וֹ אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֖ה יָמֽוּת׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubeshsh֣ub rashsha֗ meֽrishshe'ato֙ 'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֔h vayּa֥'ashs mishshepּa֖t utzedaqa֑h h֖u 'et-napeshsh֥o yechayּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive."

וּבְשׁ֣וּב רָשָׁ֗ע מֵֽרִשְׁעָתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה וַיַּ֥עַשׂ מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וּצְדָקָ֑ה ה֖וּא אֶת־נַפְשׁ֥וֹ יְחַיֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּire'e֣h vyshvb vayּa֔shshab mikּal-pּeshsha'a֖yv 'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֑h chay֥o yicheye֖h lo֥ yamֽut׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die."

וַיִּרְאֶ֣ה וישוב וַיָּ֔שָׁב מִכָּל־פְּשָׁעָ֖יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה חָי֥וֹ יִחְיֶ֖ה לֹ֥א יָמֽוּת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'aֽmeru֙ bּe֣yt yishsera'e֔l lo֥ yitּake֖n dּe֣reke 'adona֑y hadּeraka֞y lo֤ yitּaֽkenּu֙ bּe֣yt yishsera'e֔l halo֥ darekeyke֖m lo֥ yitּakeֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Yet says the house of Israel, 'The way of the Lord is not equal.' O house of Israel, are not My ways equal? are not your ways unequal?"

וְאָֽמְרוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹ֥א יִתָּכֵ֖ן דֶּ֣רֶךְ אֲדֹנָ֑י הַדְּרָכַ֞י לֹ֤א יִתָּֽכְנּוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הֲלֹ֥א דַרְכֵיכֶ֖ם לֹ֥א יִתָּכֵֽן׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Wherefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD; 'Are you polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit you whoredom after their abominations?'"

לָכֵן֩ אִ֨ישׁ כִּדְרָכָ֜יו אֶשְׁפֹּ֤ט אֶתְכֶם֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה שׁ֤וּבוּ וְהָשִׁ֨יבוּ֙ מִכָּל־פִּשְׁעֵיכֶ֔ם וְלֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶ֛ם לְמִכְשׁ֖וֹל עָוֺֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hashsheli֣yku me'aleyke֗m 'et-kּal-pּishshe'eykem֙ 'ashshe֣r pּeshsha'etּe֣m bּa֔m va'ashs֥u lake֛m le֥b chada֖shsh ver֣ucha chadashsha֑h vela֥mּah tamu֖tu bּe֥yt yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, O house of Israel?"

הַשְׁלִ֣יכוּ מֵעֲלֵיכֶ֗ם אֶת־כָּל־פִּשְׁעֵיכֶם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר פְּשַׁעְתֶּ֣ם בָּ֔ם וַעֲשׂ֥וּ לָכֶ֛ם לֵ֥ב חָדָ֖שׁ וְר֣וּחַ חֲדָשָׁ֑ה וְלָ֥מָּה תָמֻ֖תוּ בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֣y lo֤ 'echepּotz֙ bּem֣ot hamּe֔t ne'u֖m 'adona֣y yehvi֑h vehashshi֖ybu viֽcheyֽu׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)"For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies," says the Lord GOD: "wherefore turn yourselves, and live you."
