Chapter 41

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayebiy'e֖niy 'el-haheyka֑l vayּa֣mad 'et-ha'eyli֗ym shsheshsh-'amּ֨ot ro֧chab-mipּ֛o veshsheshsh-'amּֽot-ro֥chab mipּ֖o ro֥chab ha'oֽhel׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Afterward he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle.

וַיְבִיאֵ֖נִי אֶל־הַהֵיכָ֑ל וַיָּ֣מָד אֶת־הָאֵילִ֗ים שֵׁשׁ־אַמּ֨וֹת רֹ֧חַב־מִפּ֛וֹ וְשֵׁשׁ־אַמּֽוֹת־רֹ֥חַב מִפּ֖וֹ רֹ֥חַב הָאֹֽהֶל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vero֣chab hapּetach֮ 'e֣shser 'amּot֒ vekitep֣ot hapּe֔tach chame֤shsh 'amּot֙ mipּ֔o vechame֥shsh 'amּ֖ot mipּ֑o vayּa֤mad 'arekּo֙ 'arebּa'i֣ym 'amּa֔h vero֖chab 'eshseri֥ym 'amּaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the breadth of the door was ten cubits; and the sides of the door were five cubits on the one side, and five cubits on the other side: and he measured the length thereof, forty cubits: and the breadth, twenty cubits.

וְרֹ֣חַב הַפֶּתַח֮ עֶ֣שֶׂר אַמּוֹת֒ וְכִתְפ֣וֹת הַפֶּ֔תַח חָמֵ֤שׁ אַמּוֹת֙ מִפּ֔וֹ וְחָמֵ֥שׁ אַמּ֖וֹת מִפּ֑וֹ וַיָּ֤מָד אָרְכּוֹ֙ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים אַמָּ֔ה וְרֹ֖חַב עֶשְׂרִ֥ים אַמָּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): uba֣ lipeni֔ymah vayּa֥mad 'eֽyl-hapּe֖tach shshetּa֣yim 'amּ֑ot vehapּe֨tach֙ shshe֣shsh 'amּ֔ot vero֥chab hapּe֖tach shshe֥ba 'amּֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then went he inward, and measured the post of the door, two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits.

וּבָ֣א לִפְנִ֔ימָה וַיָּ֥מָד אֵֽיל־הַפֶּ֖תַח שְׁתַּ֣יִם אַמּ֑וֹת וְהַפֶּ֨תַח֙ שֵׁ֣שׁ אַמּ֔וֹת וְרֹ֥חַב הַפֶּ֖תַח שֶׁ֥בַע אַמּֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֨mad 'et-'arekּ֜o 'eshseri֣ym 'amּa֗h vero֛chab 'eshseri֥ym 'amּa֖h 'el-pּene֣y haֽheyka֑l vayּo֣'mer 'ela֔y ze֖h qo֥deshsh haqּodashshiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said to me, "This is the most holy place."

וַיָּ֨מָד אֶת־אָרְכּ֜וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים אַמָּ֗ה וְרֹ֛חַב עֶשְׂרִ֥ים אַמָּ֖ה אֶל־פְּנֵ֣י הַֽהֵיכָ֑ל וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י זֶ֖ה קֹ֥דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִֽׁים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥mad qiֽyr-habּa֖yit shshe֣shsh 'amּ֑ot vero֣chab hatzּela'֩ 'arebּa֨ 'amּ֜ot sabi֧yb ׀ sabi֛yb labּa֖yit sabiֽyb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)After he measured the wall of the house, six cubits; and the breadth of every side chamber, four cubits, round about the house on every side.

וַיָּ֥מָד קִֽיר־הַבַּ֖יִת שֵׁ֣שׁ אַמּ֑וֹת וְרֹ֣חַב הַצֵּלָע֩ אַרְבַּ֨ע אַמּ֜וֹת סָבִ֧יב ׀ סָבִ֛יב לַבַּ֖יִת סָבִֽיב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehatzּela'ot֩ tzela֨ 'el-tzela֜ shshal֧oshsh ushsheloshshi֣ym pּe'ami֗ym u֠ba'ot bּaqּi֨yr 'ashsher-labּa֧yit latzּela'֛ot sabi֥yb ׀ sabi֖yb lihey֣ot 'achuzi֑ym veloֽ'-yihey֥u 'achuzi֖ym bּeqi֥yr habּaֽyit׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the side chambers were three, one over another, and thirty in order; and they entered into the wall which was of the house for the side chambers round about, that they might have hold, but they had not hold in the wall of the house.

וְהַצְּלָעוֹת֩ צֵלָ֨ע אֶל־צֵלָ֜ע שָׁל֧וֹשׁ וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים פְּעָמִ֗ים וּ֠בָאוֹת בַּקִּ֨יר אֲשֶׁר־לַבַּ֧יִת לַצְּלָע֛וֹת סָבִ֥יב ׀ סָבִ֖יב לִהְי֣וֹת אֲחוּזִ֑ים וְלֹֽא־יִהְי֥וּ אֲחוּזִ֖ים בְּקִ֥יר הַבָּֽיִת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veֽrachaba֡h veֽnasebah֩ lema֨'elah lema֜'elah latzּela'֗ot kּi֣y mֽusab-ha֠bּayit lema֨'elah lema֜'elah sabi֤yb ׀ sabiyb֙ labּa֔yit 'al-kּe֥n roֽchab-labּa֖yit lema֑'elah veke֧n hatּachetּona֛h ya'ale֥h 'al-ha'eleyona֖h latּiykonaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And there was an enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still upward, and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the midst.

וְֽרָחֲבָ֡ה וְֽנָסְבָה֩ לְמַ֨עְלָה לְמַ֜עְלָה לַצְּלָע֗וֹת כִּ֣י מֽוּסַב־הַ֠בַּיִת לְמַ֨עְלָה לְמַ֜עְלָה סָבִ֤יב ׀ סָבִיב֙ לַבַּ֔יִת עַל־כֵּ֥ן רֹֽחַב־לַבַּ֖יִת לְמָ֑עְלָה וְכֵ֧ן הַתַּחְתּוֹנָ֛ה יַעֲלֶ֥ה עַל־הָעֶלְיוֹנָ֖ה לַתִּיכוֹנָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vera'i֧ytiy labּa֛yit gּo֖bahּ sabi֣yb ׀ sabi֑yb mysdvt mused֤ot hatzּela'ot֙ mel֣o haqּane֔h shshe֥shsh 'amּ֖ot 'atzּiֽylah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)I saw also the height of the house round about: the foundations of the side chambers were a full reed of six great cubits.

וְרָאִ֧יתִי לַבַּ֛יִת גֹּ֖בַהּ סָבִ֣יב ׀ סָבִ֑יב מיסדות מוּסְד֤וֹת הַצְּלָעוֹת֙ מְל֣וֹ הַקָּנֶ֔ה שֵׁ֥שׁ אַמּ֖וֹת אַצִּֽילָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ro֣chab haqּi֧yr 'aֽshsher-latzּela֛ 'el-hach֖utz chame֣shsh 'amּ֑ot va'ashshe֣r munּa֔ch bּe֥yt tzela'֖ot 'ashshe֥r labּaֽyit׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The thickness of the wall, which was for the side chamber without, was five cubits: and that which was left was the place of the side chambers that were within.

רֹ֣חַב הַקִּ֧יר אֲֽשֶׁר־לַצֵּלָ֛ע אֶל־הַח֖וּץ חָמֵ֣שׁ אַמּ֑וֹת וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר מֻנָּ֔ח בֵּ֥ית צְלָע֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר לַבָּֽיִת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ube֨yn halּeshshak֜ot ro֣chab 'eshseri֥ym 'amּa֛h sabi֥yb labּa֖yit sabi֥yb ׀ sabiֽyb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And between the chambers was the wideness of twenty cubits round about the house on every side.

וּבֵ֨ין הַלְּשָׁכ֜וֹת רֹ֣חַב עֶשְׂרִ֥ים אַמָּ֛ה סָבִ֥יב לַבַּ֖יִת סָבִ֥יב ׀ סָבִֽיב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): upe֤tach hatzּela'֙ lamּunּa֔ch pּe֤tach 'echad֙ dּe֣reke hatzּap֔on upe֥tach 'echa֖d ladּar֑om vero֨chab֙ meq֣om hamּunּa֔ch chame֥shsh 'amּ֖ot sabi֥yb ׀ sabiֽyb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the doors of the side chambers were toward the place that was left, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south: and the breadth of the place that was left was five cubits round about.

וּפֶ֤תַח הַצֵּלָע֙ לַמֻּנָּ֔ח פֶּ֤תַח אֶחָד֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ הַצָּפ֔וֹן וּפֶ֥תַח אֶחָ֖ד לַדָּר֑וֹם וְרֹ֨חַב֙ מְק֣וֹם הַמֻּנָּ֔ח חָמֵ֥שׁ אַמּ֖וֹת סָבִ֥יב ׀ סָבִֽיב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehabּineya֡n 'ashsher֩ 'el-pּene֨y hagּizera֜h pּe'a֣t dּeֽreke-hayּa֗m ro֚chab shshibe'i֣ym 'amּa֔h veqi֧yr habּineya֛n chaֽmeshsh-'amּ֥ot ro֖chab sabi֣yb ׀ sabi֑yb ve'arekּ֖o tּishshe'i֥ym 'amּaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Now the building that was before the separate place at the end toward the west was seventy cubits broad; and the wall of the building was five cubits thick round about, and the length thereof ninety cubits.

וְהַבִּנְיָ֡ן אֲשֶׁר֩ אֶל־פְּנֵ֨י הַגִּזְרָ֜ה פְּאַ֣ת דֶּֽרֶךְ־הַיָּ֗ם רֹ֚חַב שִׁבְעִ֣ים אַמָּ֔ה וְקִ֧יר הַבִּנְיָ֛ן חָֽמֵשׁ־אַמּ֥וֹת רֹ֖חַב סָבִ֣יב ׀ סָבִ֑יב וְאָרְכּ֖וֹ תִּשְׁעִ֥ים אַמָּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umada֣d 'et-habּa֔yit 'o֖reke me'a֣h 'amּa֑h vehagּizera֤h vehabּineyah֙ veqi֣yrote֔yha 'o֖reke me'a֥h 'amּaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So he measured the house, an hundred cubits long; and the separate place, and the building, with the walls thereof, an hundred cubits long;

וּמָדַ֣ד אֶת־הַבַּ֔יִת אֹ֖רֶךְ מֵאָ֣ה אַמָּ֑ה וְהַגִּזְרָ֤ה וְהַבִּנְיָה֙ וְקִ֣ירוֹתֶ֔יהָ אֹ֖רֶךְ מֵאָ֥ה אַמָּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): verochab֩ pּene֨y habּa֧yit vehagּizera֛h laqּadi֖ym me'a֥h 'amּaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Also the breadth of the face of the house, and of the separate place toward the east, an hundred cubits.

וְרֹחַב֩ פְּנֵ֨י הַבַּ֧יִת וְהַגִּזְרָ֛ה לַקָּדִ֖ים מֵאָ֥ה אַמָּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umada֣d 'oֽreke-ha֠bּineyan 'el-pּene֨y hagּizera֜h 'ashshe֨r 'al-'achare֧yha v'tvqyh ve'atּiyqe֛yha mipּ֥o umipּ֖o me'a֣h 'amּa֑h vehaֽheykal֙ hapּeniymi֔y ve'uֽlamּe֖y hechatzeֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And he measured the length of the building over against the separate place which was behind it, and the galleries thereof on the one side and on the other side, an hundred cubits, with the inner temple, and the porches of the court;

וּמָדַ֣ד אֹֽרֶךְ־הַ֠בִּנְיָן אֶל־פְּנֵ֨י הַגִּזְרָ֜ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר עַל־אַחֲרֶ֧יהָ ואתוקיהא וְאַתִּיקֶ֛יהָא מִפּ֥וֹ וּמִפּ֖וֹ מֵאָ֣ה אַמָּ֑ה וְהַֽהֵיכָל֙ הַפְּנִימִ֔י וְאֻֽלַמֵּ֖י הֶחָצֵֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hasּipּi֡ym vehachalּoni֣ym ha֠'atumot veha'atּiyqi֤ym ׀ sabiyb֙ lishshelashshetּa֔m ne֧ged hasּa֛p shsechi֥yp 'e֖tz sabi֣yb ׀ sabi֑yb veha'a֨retz֙ 'ad-haֽchalּon֔ot vehaֽchalּon֖ot mekusּֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The door posts, and the narrow windows, and the galleries round about on their three stories, over against the door, cieled with wood round about, and from the ground up to the windows, and the windows were covered;

הַסִּפִּ֡ים וְהַחַלּוֹנִ֣ים הָ֠אֲטֻמוֹת וְהָאַתִּיקִ֤ים ׀ סָבִיב֙ לִשְׁלָשְׁתָּ֔ם נֶ֧גֶד הַסַּ֛ף שְׂחִ֥יף עֵ֖ץ סָבִ֣יב ׀ סָבִ֑יב וְהָאָ֨רֶץ֙ עַד־הַֽחַלֹּנ֔וֹת וְהַֽחַלֹּנ֖וֹת מְכֻסּֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-me'a֣l hapּe֡tach ve'ad-habּayit֩ hapּeniymi֨y velach֜utz ve'el-kּal-haqּi֨yr sabi֧yb ׀ sabi֛yb bּapּeniymi֥y ubachiytz֖on midּֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)To that above the door, even to the inner house, and without, and by all the wall round about within and without, by measure.

עַל־מֵעַ֣ל הַפֶּ֡תַח וְעַד־הַבַּיִת֩ הַפְּנִימִ֨י וְלַח֜וּץ וְאֶל־כָּל־הַקִּ֨יר סָבִ֧יב ׀ סָבִ֛יב בַּפְּנִימִ֥י וּבַחִיצ֖וֹן מִדּֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'ashs֥uy kּerubi֖ym vetiֽmori֑ym vetiֽmorah֙ bּeyn-kּer֣ub liker֔ub ushshena֥yim pּani֖ym lakּerֽub׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And it was made with cherubims and palm trees, so that a palm tree was between a cherub and a cherub; and every cherub had two faces;

וְעָשׂ֥וּי כְּרוּבִ֖ים וְתִֽמֹרִ֑ים וְתִֽמֹרָה֙ בֵּין־כְּר֣וּב לִכְר֔וּב וּשְׁנַ֥יִם פָּנִ֖ים לַכְּרֽוּב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): upene֨y 'ada֤m 'el-hatּiֽmorah֙ mipּ֔o upeneֽy-kepi֥yr 'el-hatּiֽmora֖h mipּ֑o 'ashs֥uy 'el-kּal-habּa֖yit sabi֥yb ׀ sabiֽyb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.

וּפְנֵ֨י אָדָ֤ם אֶל־הַתִּֽמֹרָה֙ מִפּ֔וֹ וּפְנֵֽי־כְפִ֥יר אֶל־הַתִּֽמֹרָ֖ה מִפּ֑וֹ עָשׂ֥וּי אֶל־כָּל־הַבַּ֖יִת סָבִ֥יב ׀ סָבִֽיב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): meha'a֨retz֙ 'ad-me'a֣l hapּe֔tach hakּerubi֥ym vehatּiֽmori֖ym 'ashsuyi֑m veqi֖yr haׄheׄyׄkaֽׄlׄ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)From the ground to above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.

מֵהָאָ֨רֶץ֙ עַד־מֵעַ֣ל הַפֶּ֔תַח הַכְּרוּבִ֥ים וְהַתִּֽמֹרִ֖ים עֲשׂוּיִ֑ם וְקִ֖יר הַׄהֵׄיׄכָֽׄלׄ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): haֽheyka֖l mezuza֣t rebu'a֑h upene֣y haqּo֔deshsh hamּare'e֖h kּamּare'eֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The posts of the temple were squared, and the face of the sanctuary; the appearance of the one as the appearance of the other.

הַֽהֵיכָ֖ל מְזוּזַ֣ת רְבֻעָ֑ה וּפְנֵ֣י הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ הַמַּרְאֶ֖ה כַּמַּרְאֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hamּizebּe֡cha 'e֣tz shshaloshsh֩ 'amּ֨ot gּabo֜hּa ve'arekּ֣o shshetּaֽyim-'amּ֗ot umiqetzoֽ'otayv֙ l֔o ve'arekּ֥o veqiֽyrota֖yv 'e֑tz vayedabּe֣r 'ela֔y ze֚h hashshּulecha֔n 'ashshe֖r lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The altar of wood was three cubits high, and the length thereof two cubits; and the corners thereof, and the length thereof, and the walls thereof, were of wood: and he said to me, "This is the table that is before the LORD."

הַמִּזְבֵּ֡חַ עֵ֣ץ שָׁלוֹשׁ֩ אַמּ֨וֹת גָּבֹ֜הַּ וְאָרְכּ֣וֹ שְׁתַּֽיִם־אַמּ֗וֹת וּמִקְצֹֽעוֹתָיו֙ ל֔וֹ וְאָרְכּ֥וֹ וְקִֽירֹתָ֖יו עֵ֑ץ וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אֵלַ֔י זֶ֚ה הַשֻּׁלְחָ֔ן אֲשֶׁ֖ר לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ushshetּa֧yim dּelat֛ot laֽheyka֖l velaqּoֽdeshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the temple and the sanctuary had two doors.

וּשְׁתַּ֧יִם דְּלָת֛וֹת לַֽהֵיכָ֖ל וְלַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ushshetּa֥yim dּelat֖ot ladּelat֑ot shshe֚tּayim musabּ֣ot dּelat֔ot shshe֚tּayim lede֣let 'echa֔t ushshetּe֥y delat֖ot la'acheֽret׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the doors had two leaves apiece, two turning leaves; two leaves for the one door, and two leaves for the other door.

וּשְׁתַּ֥יִם דְּלָת֖וֹת לַדְּלָת֑וֹת שְׁ֚תַּיִם מוּסַבּ֣וֹת דְּלָת֔וֹת שְׁ֚תַּיִם לְדֶ֣לֶת אֶחָ֔ת וּשְׁתֵּ֥י דְלָת֖וֹת לָאַחֶֽרֶת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'ashsuya֨h 'aleyhe֜n 'el-dּalet֤ot haֽheykal֙ kּerubi֣ym vetiֽmori֔ym kּa'ashshe֥r 'ashsuyi֖m laqּiyr֑ot ve'a֥b 'e֛tz 'el-pּene֥y ha'ula֖m mehachֽutz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And there were made on them, on the doors of the temple, cherubims and palm trees, like as were made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the porch without.

וַעֲשׂוּיָ֨ה אֲלֵיהֶ֜ן אֶל־דַּלְת֤וֹת הַֽהֵיכָל֙ כְּרוּבִ֣ים וְתִֽמֹרִ֔ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר עֲשׂוּיִ֖ם לַקִּיר֑וֹת וְעָ֥ב עֵ֛ץ אֶל־פְּנֵ֥י הָאוּלָ֖ם מֵהַחֽוּץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vechalּoni֨ym 'atum֤ot vetiֽmoriym֙ mipּ֣o umipּ֔o 'el-kּitep֖ot haֽ'ula֑m vetzale'֥ot habּa֖yit veha'ubּiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And there were narrow windows and palm trees on the one side and on the other side, on the sides of the porch, and upon the side chambers of the house, and thick planks.

וְחַלּוֹנִ֨ים אֲטֻמ֤וֹת וְתִֽמֹרִים֙ מִפּ֣וֹ וּמִפּ֔וֹ אֶל־כִּתְפ֖וֹת הָֽאוּלָ֑ם וְצַלְע֥וֹת הַבַּ֖יִת וְהָעֻבִּֽים׃
