Chapter 47

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayeshshibeniy֮ 'el-pּe֣tach habּayit֒ vehinּeh-ma֣yim yotze'i֗ym mitּa֨chat mipetּa֤n habּa֨yit֙ qadi֔ymah kּiֽy-pene֥y habּa֖yit qadi֑ym vehamּa֣yim yoredi֗ym mitּa֜chat mikּe֤tep habּa֨yit֙ hayemani֔yt minּe֖geb lamּizebּeֽcha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Afterward he brought me again to the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.

וַיְשִׁבֵנִי֮ אֶל־פֶּ֣תַח הַבַּיִת֒ וְהִנֵּה־מַ֣יִם יֹצְאִ֗ים מִתַּ֨חַת מִפְתַּ֤ן הַבַּ֨יִת֙ קָדִ֔ימָה כִּֽי־פְנֵ֥י הַבַּ֖יִת קָדִ֑ים וְהַמַּ֣יִם יֹרְדִ֗ים מִתַּ֜חַת מִכֶּ֤תֶף הַבַּ֨יִת֙ הַיְמָנִ֔ית מִנֶּ֖גֶב לַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּotzi'eniy֮ dּeֽreke-shsha֣'ar tzaponah֒ vayesibּe֨niy֙ dּe֣reke ch֔utz 'el-shsha֣'ar hach֔utz dּe֖reke hapּone֣h qadi֑ym vehinּeh-ma֣yim mepakּi֔ym min-hakּate֖p hayemaniֽyt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without to the utter gate by the way that looks eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

וַיּוֹצִאֵנִי֮ דֶּֽרֶךְ־שַׁ֣עַר צָפוֹנָה֒ וַיְסִבֵּ֨נִי֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ ח֔וּץ אֶל־שַׁ֣עַר הַח֔וּץ דֶּ֖רֶךְ הַפּוֹנֶ֣ה קָדִ֑ים וְהִנֵּה־מַ֣יִם מְפַכִּ֔ים מִן־הַכָּתֵ֖ף הַיְמָנִֽית׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּetze't-ha'i֥yshsh qadi֖ym veqa֣v bּeyad֑o vayּa֤mad 'e֨lep֙ bּaֽ'amּa֔h vayּa'abire֥niy bamּa֖yim me֥y 'apesaֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.

בְּצֵאת־הָאִ֥ישׁ קָדִ֖ים וְקָ֣ו בְּיָד֑וֹ וַיָּ֤מָד אֶ֨לֶף֙ בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה וַיַּעֲבִרֵ֥נִי בַמַּ֖יִם מֵ֥י אָפְסָֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֣mad 'e֔lep vayּa'abire֥niy bamּa֖yim ma֣yim bּirekּa֑yim vayּa֣mad 'e֔lep vayּa'abire֖niy me֥y matenaֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.

וַיָּ֣מָד אֶ֔לֶף וַיַּעֲבִרֵ֥נִי בַמַּ֖יִם מַ֣יִם בִּרְכָּ֑יִם וַיָּ֣מָד אֶ֔לֶף וַיַּעֲבִרֵ֖נִי מֵ֥י מָתְנָֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֣mad 'e֔lep na֕chal 'ashshe֥r loֽ'-'uka֖l la'abo֑r kּiֽy-ga'֤u hamּa֨yim֙ me֣y shsa֔chu na֖chal 'ashshe֥r loֽ'-ye'abeֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.

וַיָּ֣מָד אֶ֔לֶף נַ֕חַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־אוּכַ֖ל לַעֲבֹ֑ר כִּֽי־גָא֤וּ הַמַּ֨יִם֙ מֵ֣י שָׂ֔חוּ נַ֖חַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יֵעָבֵֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֥'mer 'ela֖y hara'i֣yta ben-'ada֑m vayּolike֥niy vayeshshibe֖niy shsepa֥t hanּaֽchal׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And he said to me, "Son of man, hast you seen this?" Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלַ֖י הֲרָאִ֣יתָ בֶן־אָדָ֑ם וַיּוֹלִכֵ֥נִי וַיְשִׁבֵ֖נִי שְׂפַ֥ת הַנָּֽחַל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּeshshube֕niy vehinּeh֙ 'el-shsepa֣t hanּa֔chal 'e֖tz ra֣b me'o֑d mizּe֖h umizּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.

בְּשׁוּבֵ֕נִי וְהִנֵּה֙ אֶל־שְׂפַ֣ת הַנַּ֔חַל עֵ֖ץ רַ֣ב מְאֹ֑ד מִזֶּ֖ה וּמִזֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֣'mer 'ela֗y hamּa֤yim ha'e֨lּeh֙ yotze'i֗ym 'el-hagּeliylah֙ haqּademona֔h veyared֖u 'al-haֽ'araba֑h uba֣'u hayּa֔mּah 'el-hayּa֥mּah hamּֽutza'i֖ym vnrp'v venirepּ֥u hamּaֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then said he to me, "These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed."

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י הַמַּ֤יִם הָאֵ֨לֶּה֙ יוֹצְאִ֗ים אֶל־הַגְּלִילָה֙ הַקַּדְמוֹנָ֔ה וְיָרְד֖וּ עַל־הָֽעֲרָבָ֑ה וּבָ֣אוּ הַיָּ֔מָּה אֶל־הַיָּ֥מָּה הַמּֽוּצָאִ֖ים ונרפאו וְנִרְפּ֥וּ הַמָּֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaya֣h kal-ne֣peshsh chayּa֣h ׀ 'aֽshsher-yishshero֡tz 'e֣l kּal-'ashsher֩ yab֨o shsha֤m nachala֨yim֙ yiֽcheye֔h vehaya֥h hadּaga֖h rabּa֣h me'o֑d kּiy֩ ba֨'u shsha֜mּah hamּa֣yim ha'e֗lּeh veyeraֽpe'u֙ vacha֔y kּo֛l 'ashsher-ya֥bo shsha֖mּah hanּaֽchal׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And it shall come to pass, that everything that lives, which moves, wherever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come There: for they shall be healed; and everything shall live Where the river comes."

וְהָיָ֣ה כָל־נֶ֣פֶשׁ חַיָּ֣ה ׀ אֲֽשֶׁר־יִשְׁרֹ֡ץ אֶ֣ל כָּל־אֲשֶׁר֩ יָב֨וֹא שָׁ֤ם נַחֲלַ֨יִם֙ יִֽחְיֶ֔ה וְהָיָ֥ה הַדָּגָ֖ה רַבָּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד כִּי֩ בָ֨אוּ שָׁ֜מָּה הַמַּ֣יִם הָאֵ֗לֶּה וְיֵרָֽפְאוּ֙ וָחָ֔י כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־יָ֥בוֹא שָׁ֖מָּה הַנָּֽחַל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehayah֩ y'mdv 'amed֨u 'ala֜yv dּauagi֗ym me'e֥yn gּe֨diy֙ ve'ad-'e֣yn 'egela֔yim mishshet֥ocha laֽcharami֖ym yihey֑u lemiynah֙ tּiheye֣h degata֔m kּidega֛t hayּa֥m hagּad֖ol rabּa֥h me'oֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even to Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many."

וְהָיָה֩ יעמדו עָמְד֨וּ עָלָ֜יו דַּוָּגִ֗ים מֵעֵ֥ין גֶּ֨דִי֙ וְעַד־עֵ֣ין עֶגְלַ֔יִם מִשְׁט֥וֹחַ לַֽחֲרָמִ֖ים יִהְי֑וּ לְמִינָה֙ תִּהְיֶ֣ה דְגָתָ֔ם כִּדְגַ֛ת הַיָּ֥ם הַגָּד֖וֹל רַבָּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): btz'tv bּitzּo'ta֧yv ugeba'a֛yv velo֥ yerape'֖u leme֥lach nitּaֽnu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt."

בצאתו בִּצֹּאתָ֧יו וּגְבָאָ֛יו וְלֹ֥א יֵרָפְא֖וּ לְמֶ֥לַח נִתָּֽנוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'al-hanּa֣chal ya'ale֣h 'al-shsepat֣o mizּe֣h ׀ umizּe֣h ׀ kּal-'eֽtz-ma֠'akal lo'-yibּ֨ol 'ale֜hu veloֽ'-yitּo֣m pּirey֗o laֽchodashshayv֙ yebakּe֔r kּi֣y meyma֔yv min-hamּiqedּa֖shsh he֣mּah yֽotze'i֑ym vhyv vehaya֤h pireyo֙ lemaֽ'aka֔l ve'ale֖hu literupaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine."

וְעַל־הַנַּ֣חַל יַעֲלֶ֣ה עַל־שְׂפָת֣וֹ מִזֶּ֣ה ׀ וּמִזֶּ֣ה ׀ כָּל־עֵֽץ־מַ֠אֲכָל לֹא־יִבּ֨וֹל עָלֵ֜הוּ וְלֹֽא־יִתֹּ֣ם פִּרְי֗וֹ לָֽחֳדָשָׁיו֙ יְבַכֵּ֔ר כִּ֣י מֵימָ֔יו מִן־הַמִּקְדָּ֖שׁ הֵ֣מָּה יֽוֹצְאִ֑ים והיו וְהָיָ֤ה פִרְיוֹ֙ לְמַֽאֲכָ֔ל וְעָלֵ֖הוּ לִתְרוּפָֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֤h 'amar֙ 'adona֣y yehvi֔h gּe֤h gebul֙ 'ashshe֣r tּitenachal֣u 'et-ha'a֔retz lishshene֥y 'ashsa֖r shshibete֣y yishsera'e֑l yose֖p chabaliֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus says the Lord GOD; "This shall be the border, whereby you shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph shall have two portions."

כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה גֵּ֤ה גְבוּל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּתְנַחֲל֣וּ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ לִשְׁנֵ֥י עָשָׂ֖ר שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יוֹסֵ֖ף חֲבָלִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): unechaletּe֤m 'otahּ֙ 'i֣yshsh kּe'achi֔yv 'ashshe֤r nashsa֨'tiy֙ 'et-yadi֔y letitּa֖hּ la'aboֽteyke֑m vena֨pela֜h ha'a֧retz hazּo֛'t lake֖m bּenachalaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And you shall inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up Mine hand to give it to your fathers: and this land shall fall to you for inheritance."

וּנְחַלְתֶּ֤ם אוֹתָהּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ כְּאָחִ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָשָׂ֨אתִי֙ אֶת־יָדִ֔י לְתִתָּ֖הּ לַאֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם וְנָ֨פְלָ֜ה הָאָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את לָכֶ֖ם בְּנַחֲלָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veze֖h gּeb֣ul ha'a֑retz lipe'a֨t tzap֜onah min-hayּa֧m hagּad֛ol hadּe֥reke chetelo֖n leb֥o tzedaֽdah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And this shall be the border of the land toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad;"

וְזֶ֖ה גְּב֣וּל הָאָ֑רֶץ לִפְאַ֨ת צָפ֜וֹנָה מִן־הַיָּ֧ם הַגָּד֛וֹל הַדֶּ֥רֶךְ חֶתְלֹ֖ן לְב֥וֹא צְדָֽדָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): chama֤t ׀ bּer֨otah֙ sibera֔yim 'ashsher֙ bּeyn-gּeb֣ul dּamּe֔shseq ube֖yn gּeb֣ul chama֑t chatzer֙ hatּiyk֔on 'ashshe֖r 'el-gּeb֥ul chaveraֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazarhatticon, which is by the coast of Hauran."

חֲמָ֤ת ׀ בֵּר֨וֹתָה֙ סִבְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁר֙ בֵּין־גְּב֣וּל דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וּבֵ֖ין גְּב֣וּל חֲמָ֑ת חָצֵר֙ הַתִּיכ֔וֹן אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֶל־גְּב֥וּל חַוְרָֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaya֨h geb֜ul min-hayּa֗m chatza֤r 'eynon֙ gּeb֣ul dּamּe֔shseq vetzap֥on ׀ tzap֖onah ugeb֣ul chama֑t ve'e֖t pּe'a֥t tzapֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And the border from the sea shall be Hazarenan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side."

וְהָיָ֨ה גְב֜וּל מִן־הַיָּ֗ם חֲצַ֤ר עֵינוֹן֙ גְּב֣וּל דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וְצָפ֥וֹן ׀ צָפ֖וֹנָה וּגְב֣וּל חֲמָ֑ת וְאֵ֖ת פְּאַ֥ת צָפֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): upe'a֣t qadi֡ym mibּe֣yn chavera֣n umibּeyn-dּamּeshseq֩ umibּe֨yn hagּile'a֜d umibּe֨yn 'e֤retz yishsera'el֙ hayּaredּe֔n migּeb֛ul 'al-hayּa֥m haqּademoni֖y tּamo֑dּu ve'e֖t pּe'a֥t qadiֽymah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And the east side you shall measure from Hauran, and from Damascus, and from Gilead, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border to the east sea. And this is the east side."

וּפְאַ֣ת קָדִ֡ים מִבֵּ֣ין חַוְרָ֣ן וּמִבֵּין־דַּמֶּשֶׂק֩ וּמִבֵּ֨ין הַגִּלְעָ֜ד וּמִבֵּ֨ין אֶ֤רֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן מִגְּב֛וּל עַל־הַיָּ֥ם הַקַּדְמוֹנִ֖י תָּמֹ֑דּוּ וְאֵ֖ת פְּאַ֥ת קָדִֽימָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): upe'at֙ ne֣geb tּeyma֔nah mitּama֗r 'ad-mey֙ meriyb֣ot qade֔shsh nachala֖h 'el-hayּa֣m hagּad֑ol ve'e֥t pּe'at-tּeyma֖nah neֽgebּah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward."

וּפְאַת֙ נֶ֣גֶב תֵּימָ֔נָה מִתָּמָ֗ר עַד־מֵי֙ מְרִיב֣וֹת קָדֵ֔שׁ נַחֲלָ֖ה אֶל־הַיָּ֣ם הַגָּד֑וֹל וְאֵ֥ת פְּאַת־תֵּימָ֖נָה נֶֽגְבָּה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): upe'at-yam֙ hayּa֣m hagּad֔ol migּeb֕ul 'ad-no֖kach leb֣o chama֑t zo֖'t pּe'at-yaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"The west side also shall be the great sea from the border, till a man come over against Hamath. This is the west side."

וּפְאַת־יָם֙ הַיָּ֣ם הַגָּד֔וֹל מִגְּב֕וּל עַד־נֹ֖כַח לְב֣וֹא חֲמָ֑ת זֹ֖את פְּאַת־יָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vechilּaqetּe֞m 'et-ha'a֧retz hazּo֛'t lake֖m leshshibete֥y yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"So shall you divide this land to you according to the tribes of Israel."

וְחִלַּקְתֶּ֞ם אֶת־הָאָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את לָכֶ֖ם לְשִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaya֗h tּapּi֣lu 'otahּ֮ bּenachalah֒ lake֗m ulehagּeriym֙ hagּari֣ym bּetokeke֔m 'ashsher-holi֥du bani֖ym bּetֽokeke֑m vehay֣u lake֗m kּe'ezerach֙ bּibene֣y yishsera'e֔l 'itּekem֙ yipּel֣u benachala֔h bּet֖oke shshibete֥y yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And it shall come to pass, that you shall divide it by lot for an inheritance to you, and to the strangers that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be to you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel."

וְהָיָ֗ה תַּפִּ֣לוּ אוֹתָהּ֮ בְּנַחֲלָה֒ לָכֶ֗ם וּלְהַגֵּרִים֙ הַגָּרִ֣ים בְּתוֹכְכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־הוֹלִ֥דוּ בָנִ֖ים בְּתֽוֹכְכֶ֑ם וְהָי֣וּ לָכֶ֗ם כְּאֶזְרָח֙ בִּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִתְּכֶם֙ יִפְּל֣וּ בְנַחֲלָ֔ה בְּת֖וֹךְ שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaya֣h bashshּe֔bet 'ashsher-gּa֥r hagּe֖r 'itּ֑o shsha֚m tּitּen֣u nachalat֔o ne'u֖m 'adona֥y yehviֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"And it shall come to pass, that in what tribe the stranger sojourns, there shall you give him his inheritance," says the Lord GOD.

וְהָיָ֣ה בַשֵּׁ֔בֶט אֲשֶׁר־גָּ֥ר הַגֵּ֖ר אִתּ֑וֹ שָׁ֚ם תִּתְּנ֣וּ נַחֲלָת֔וֹ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃ס
