Chapter 6

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayehi֥y debar-yehva֖h 'ela֥y le'moֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּen-'ada֕m shsi֥ym pּane֖yka 'el-hare֣y yishsera'e֑l vehinּabe֖ 'aleyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them,"

בֶּן־אָדָ֕ם שִׂ֥ים פָּנֶ֖יךָ אֶל־הָרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְהִנָּבֵ֖א אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'a֣maretּa֔ harey֙ yishsera'e֔l shshime'֖u dּebar-'adona֣y yehvi֑h kּoh-'ama֣r 'adona֣y ye֠hvih lehari֨ym velagּeba'֜ot la'apiyqi֣ym vlg'yt velagּe'ay֗ot hineni֨y 'ani֜y mebi֤y 'aleykem֙ che֔reb ve'ibּadetּi֖y bּamֽoteykeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And say, "You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys; Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places."

וְאָ֣מַרְתָּ֔ הָרֵי֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שִׁמְע֖וּ דְּבַר־אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה כֹּה־אָמַ֣ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְ֠הוִה לֶהָרִ֨ים וְלַגְּבָע֜וֹת לָאֲפִיקִ֣ים ולגאית וְלַגֵּאָי֗וֹת הִנְנִ֨י אֲנִ֜י מֵבִ֤יא עֲלֵיכֶם֙ חֶ֔רֶב וְאִבַּדְתִּ֖י בָּמֽוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venashsha֨mּu֙ mizebּech֣oteyke֔m venishshebּer֖u chamּaֽneyke֑m vehipּaletּiy֙ chaleleyke֔m lipene֖y gּilּuleykeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And your altars shall be desolate, and your images shall be broken: and I will cast down your slain men before your idols."

וְנָשַׁ֨מּוּ֙ מִזְבְּח֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם וְנִשְׁבְּר֖וּ חַמָּֽנֵיכֶ֑ם וְהִפַּלְתִּי֙ חַלְלֵיכֶ֔ם לִפְנֵ֖י גִּלּוּלֵיכֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venatatּi֗y 'et-pּigerey֙ bּene֣y yishsera'e֔l lipene֖y gּilּֽuleyhe֑m vezeriytiy֙ 'et-'atzem֣oteyke֔m sebiyb֖ot mizebּechoteykeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will lay the dead carcasses of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars."

וְנָתַתִּ֗י אֶת־פִּגְרֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לִפְנֵ֖י גִּלּֽוּלֵיהֶ֑ם וְזֵרִיתִי֙ אֶת־עַצְמ֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם סְבִיב֖וֹת מִזְבְּחוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּekol֙ moshsheb֣oteyke֔m he'ari֣ym tּechera֔benah vehabּam֖ot tּiyshsha֑menah lema'an֩ yechereb֨u veye'eshshem֜u mizebּechֽoteyke֗m venishshebּer֤u venishshebּetu֙ gּilּ֣uleyke֔m venigedּe'u֙ chamּa֣neyke֔m venimech֖u ma'ashseykeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"In all your dwellingplaces the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your images may be cut down, and your works may be abolished."

בְּכֹל֙ מוֹשְׁב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם הֶעָרִ֣ים תֶּחֱרַ֔בְנָה וְהַבָּמ֖וֹת תִּישָׁ֑מְנָה לְמַעַן֩ יֶחֶרְב֨וּ וְיֶאְשְׁמ֜וּ מִזְבְּחֽוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם וְנִשְׁבְּר֤וּ וְנִשְׁבְּתוּ֙ גִּלּ֣וּלֵיכֶ֔ם וְנִגְדְּעוּ֙ חַמָּ֣נֵיכֶ֔ם וְנִמְח֖וּ מַעֲשֵׂיכֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venapa֥l chala֖l bּetֽokeke֑m viֽyda'etּe֖m kּiֽy-'ani֥y yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and you shall know that I am the LORD."

וְנָפַ֥ל חָלָ֖ל בְּתֽוֹכְכֶ֑ם וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם כִּֽי־אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehotaretּi֗y bּihey֥ot lake֛m pּeli֥ytey che֖reb bּagּoyi֑m bּehizּarֽoteyke֖m bּa'aratzֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Yet will I leave a remnant, that you may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when you shall be scattered through the countries."

וְהוֹתַרְתִּ֗י בִּהְי֥וֹת לָכֶ֛ם פְּלִ֥יטֵי חֶ֖רֶב בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם בְּהִזָּרֽוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם בָּאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vezaker֨u peliֽyteyke֜m 'oti֗y bּagּoyim֮ 'ashshe֣r nishshebּu-shsham֒ 'ashshe֨r nishshebּa֜retּiy 'et-libּa֣m hazּone֗h 'ashsher-sar֙ meֽ'ala֔y ve'et֙ 'eֽyneyhe֔m hazּon֕ot 'achare֖y gּilּֽuleyhe֑m venaqo֨tּu֙ bּipeneyhe֔m 'el-haֽra'ot֙ 'ashshe֣r 'ashs֔u leko֖l tּo'aboteyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And they that escape of you shall remember Me among the nations Where they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which has departed from Me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall loathe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations."

וְזָכְר֨וּ פְלִֽיטֵיכֶ֜ם אוֹתִ֗י בַּגּוֹיִם֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁבּוּ־שָׁם֒ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִשְׁבַּ֜רְתִּי אֶת־לִבָּ֣ם הַזּוֹנֶ֗ה אֲשֶׁר־סָר֙ מֵֽעָלַ֔י וְאֵת֙ עֵֽינֵיהֶ֔ם הַזֹּנ֕וֹת אַחֲרֵ֖י גִּלּֽוּלֵיהֶ֑ם וְנָקֹ֨טּוּ֙ בִּפְנֵיהֶ֔ם אֶל־הָֽרָעוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשׂ֔וּ לְכֹ֖ל תּוֹעֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veyade'֖u kּiֽy-'ani֣y yehva֑h lo֤ 'el-chinּam֙ dּibּa֔retּiy la'ashs֥ot lahe֖m hara'a֥h hazּoֽ't׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)"And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil to them."

וְיָדְע֖וּ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לֹ֤א אֶל־חִנָּם֙ דִּבַּ֔רְתִּי לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לָהֶ֖ם הָרָעָ֥ה הַזֹּֽאת׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּoֽh-'ama֞r 'adona֣y yehvi֗h hakּe֨h bekapּeka֜ ureqa֤ bּerageleka֙ veֽ'emar-'a֔ch 'e֛l kּal-tּo'ab֥ot ra'֖ot bּe֣yt yishsera'e֑l 'ashshe֗r bּache֛reb bּara'a֥b ubadּe֖ber yipּoֽlu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus says the Lord GOD; "Smite with your hand, and stamp with your foot, and say, 'Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel!' for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence."

כֹּֽה־אָמַ֞ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֗ה הַכֵּ֨ה בְכַפְּךָ֜ וּרְקַ֤ע בְּרַגְלְךָ֙ וֶֽאֱמָר־אָ֔ח אֶ֛ל כָּל־תּוֹעֲב֥וֹת רָע֖וֹת בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֗ר בַּחֶ֛רֶב בָּרָעָ֥ב וּבַדֶּ֖בֶר יִפֹּֽלוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): harach֞oq bּadּe֣ber yam֗ut vehaqּarob֙ bּache֣reb yipּ֔ol vehanּishshe'ar֙ vehanּatz֔ur bּara'a֖b yam֑ut vekilּeyti֥y chamati֖y bּaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"He that is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remains and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish My fury upon them."

הָרָח֞וֹק בַּדֶּ֣בֶר יָמ֗וּת וְהַקָּרוֹב֙ בַּחֶ֣רֶב יִפּ֔וֹל וְהַנִּשְׁאָר֙ וְהַנָּצ֔וּר בָּרָעָ֖ב יָמ֑וּת וְכִלֵּיתִ֥י חֲמָתִ֖י בָּֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): viֽyda'etּem֙ kּiֽy-'ani֣y yehva֔h bּiֽhey֣ot chaleleyhe֗m bּetoke֙ gּilּ֣uleyhe֔m sebiyb֖ot mizebּechֽoteyhe֑m 'el֩ kּal-gּibe'a֨h rama֜h bּeko֣l ׀ ra'shshe֣y hehari֗ym veta֨chat kּal-'e֤tz raֽ'anan֙ veta֨chat֙ kּal-'ela֣h 'abutּa֔h meq֗om 'ashshe֤r naֽtenu-shsham֙ re֣ycha niycho֔cha leko֖l gּilּuleyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Then shall you know that I am the LORD, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols."

וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה בִּֽהְי֣וֹת חַלְלֵיהֶ֗ם בְּתוֹךְ֙ גִּלּ֣וּלֵיהֶ֔ם סְבִיב֖וֹת מִזְבְּחֽוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם אֶל֩ כָּל־גִּבְעָ֨ה רָמָ֜ה בְּכֹ֣ל ׀ רָאשֵׁ֣י הֶהָרִ֗ים וְתַ֨חַת כָּל־עֵ֤ץ רַֽעֲנָן֙ וְתַ֨חַת֙ כָּל־אֵלָ֣ה עֲבֻתָּ֔ה מְק֗וֹם אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָֽתְנוּ־שָׁם֙ רֵ֣יחַ נִיחֹ֔חַ לְכֹ֖ל גִּלּוּלֵיהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venati֤ytiy 'et-yadiy֙ 'aleyhe֔m venatatּi֨y 'et-ha'a֜retz shshemama֤h umeshshamּah֙ mimּidebּa֣r dּibela֔tah bּeko֖l moshshebֽoteyhe֑m veyade'֖u kּiֽy-'ani֥y yehvaֽh׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)"So will I stretch out My hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yes, more desolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD."

וְנָטִ֤יתִי אֶת־יָדִי֙ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם וְנָתַתִּ֨י אֶת־הָאָ֜רֶץ שְׁמָמָ֤ה וּמְשַׁמָּה֙ מִמִּדְבַּ֣ר דִּבְלָ֔תָה בְּכֹ֖ל מוֹשְׁבֽוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם וְיָדְע֖וּ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃פ
