Chapter 18
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּera֤ 'elayv֙ yehva֔h bּe'elone֖y mamere֑ veh֛u yoshshe֥b pּeֽtach-ha'o֖hel kּecho֥m hayּֽom׃
Edified Edition (EDE)And the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day.

וַיֵּרָ֤א אֵלָיו֙ יְהוָ֔ה בְּאֵלֹנֵ֖י מַמְרֵ֑א וְה֛וּא יֹשֵׁ֥ב פֶּֽתַח־הָאֹ֖הֶל כְּחֹ֥ם הַיּֽוֹם׃

2
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishsּa֤ 'eynayv֙ vayּa֔re vehinּeh֙ shsheloshsha֣h 'anashshi֔ym nitzּabi֖ym 'ala֑yv vayּa֗re vayּa֤ratz liqera'tam֙ mipּe֣tach ha'o֔hel vayּishshetּa֖chu 'aֽretzah׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.

וַיִּשָּׂ֤א עֵינָיו֙ וַיַּ֔רְא וְהִנֵּה֙ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה אֲנָשִׁ֔ים נִצָּבִ֖ים עָלָ֑יו וַיַּ֗רְא וַיָּ֤רָץ לִקְרָאתָם֙ מִפֶּ֣תַח הָאֹ֔הֶל וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ אָֽרְצָה׃

3
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo'ma֑r 'adona֗y 'im-na֨ matza֤'tiy chen֙ bּe'eyne֔yka 'al-na֥ ta'abo֖r me'a֥l 'abedּeֽka׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He said, "If I have found favour in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by.

וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֲדֹנָ֗י אִם־נָ֨א מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ אַל־נָ֥א תַעֲבֹ֖ר מֵעַ֥ל עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃

4
Phonetic (Hebrew): yuqּaֽch-na֣ me'at-ma֔yim verachatz֖u rageleyke֑m vehiֽshshּa'an֖u tּa֥chat ha'eֽtz׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree.

יֻקַּֽח־נָ֣א מְעַט־מַ֔יִם וְרַחֲצ֖וּ רַגְלֵיכֶ֑ם וְהִֽשָּׁעֲנ֖וּ תַּ֥חַת הָעֵֽץ׃

5
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'eqecha֨h pat-le֜chem vesa'ad֤u libּekem֙ 'acha֣r tּa'abo֔ru kּiֽy-'al-kּe֥n 'abaretּe֖m 'aֽl-'abedּeke֑m vayּo֣'mer֔u kּe֥n tּa'ashse֖h kּa'ashshe֥r dּibּaֽretּa׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way, now that you have come to your servant." "Very well," they answered, "do as you say."

וְאֶקְחָ֨ה פַת־לֶ֜חֶם וְסַעֲד֤וּ לִבְּכֶם֙ אַחַ֣ר תַּעֲבֹ֔רוּ כִּֽי־עַל־כֵּ֥ן עֲבַרְתֶּ֖ם עַֽל־עַבְדְּכֶ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ כֵּ֥ן תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayemahe֧r 'aberaha֛m ha'o֖helah 'el-shsara֑h vayּo֗'mer mahari֞y shshelo֤shsh se'iym֙ qe֣mach so֔let l֖ushshiy va'ashsi֥y 'ugֽot׃
Edified Edition (EDE)So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. "Quick!" he said, "Get three seahs of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread."

וַיְמַהֵ֧ר אַבְרָהָ֛ם הָאֹ֖הֱלָה אֶל־שָׂרָ֑ה וַיֹּ֗אמֶר מַהֲרִ֞י שְׁלֹ֤שׁ סְאִים֙ קֶ֣מַח סֹ֔לֶת ל֖וּשִׁי וַעֲשִׂ֥י עֻגֽוֹת׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'el-habּaqa֖r ra֣tz 'aberaha֑m vayּiqּa֨ch bּen-bּaqa֜r ra֤ke vatob֙ vayּitּe֣n 'el-hanּa֔'ar vayemahe֖r la'ashs֥ot 'otֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it.

וְאֶל־הַבָּקָ֖ר רָ֣ץ אַבְרָהָ֑ם וַיִּקַּ֨ח בֶּן־בָּקָ֜ר רַ֤ךְ וָטוֹב֙ וַיִּתֵּ֣ן אֶל־הַנַּ֔עַר וַיְמַהֵ֖ר לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת אֹתֽוֹ׃

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqּa֨ch cheme'a֜h vechala֗b uben-habּaqar֙ 'ashshe֣r 'ashsa֔h vayּitּe֖n lipeneyhe֑m vehֽu'-'ome֧d 'aleyhe֛m tּa֥chat ha'e֖tz vayּo'keֽlu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set them before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree.

וַיִּקַּ֨ח חֶמְאָ֜ה וְחָלָ֗ב וּבֶן־הַבָּקָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה וַיִּתֵּ֖ן לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם וְהֽוּא־עֹמֵ֧ד עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם תַּ֥חַת הָעֵ֖ץ וַיֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo'mer֣u 'eׄlaׄ֔yׄvׄ 'ayּe֖h shsara֣h 'ishshetּe֑ka vayּo֖'mer hinּe֥h ba'oֽhel׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Where is your wife Sarah?" they asked him. "There, in the tent," he said.

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵׄלָׄ֔יׄוׄ אַיֵּ֖ה שָׂרָ֣ה אִשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הִנֵּ֥ה בָאֹֽהֶל׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֗'mer shsh֣ob 'ashsh֤ub 'ele֨yka֙ kּa'e֣t chayּa֔h vehinּeh-be֖n leshsara֣h 'ishshetּe֑ka veshsara֥h shshoma֛'at pּe֥tach ha'o֖hel veh֥u 'acharaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then one of them said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son." Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר שׁ֣וֹב אָשׁ֤וּב אֵלֶ֨יךָ֙ כָּעֵ֣ת חַיָּ֔ה וְהִנֵּה־בֵ֖ן לְשָׂרָ֣ה אִשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וְשָׂרָ֥ה שֹׁמַ֛עַת פֶּ֥תַח הָאֹ֖הֶל וְה֥וּא אַחֲרָֽיו׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'aberaha֤m veshsarah֙ zeqeni֔ym bּa'i֖ym bּayּami֑ym chadal֙ lihey֣ot leshsara֔h 'o֖rach kּanּashshiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing.

וְאַבְרָהָ֤ם וְשָׂרָה֙ זְקֵנִ֔ים בָּאִ֖ים בַּיָּמִ֑ים חָדַל֙ לִהְי֣וֹת לְשָׂרָ֔ה אֹ֖רַח כַּנָּשִֽׁים׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): vatּitzecha֥q shsara֖h bּeqirebּa֣hּ le'mo֑r 'achare֤y belotiy֙ hֽayetah-lּi֣y 'edena֔h vֽa'doni֖y zaqeֽn׃
Edified Edition (EDE)So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?"

וַתִּצְחַ֥ק שָׂרָ֖ה בְּקִרְבָּ֣הּ לֵאמֹ֑ר אַחֲרֵ֤י בְלֹתִי֙ הָֽיְתָה־לִּ֣י עֶדְנָ֔ה וַֽאדֹנִ֖י זָקֵֽן׃

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֥'mer yehva֖h 'el-'aberaha֑m la֣mּah zּeh֩ tzachaqa֨h shsara֜h le'mo֗r ha'a֥p 'umena֛m 'ele֖d va'ani֥y zaqaֽnetּiy׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Will I really have a child, now that I am old?'"

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֑ם לָ֣מָּה זֶּה֩ צָחֲקָ֨ה שָׂרָ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר הַאַ֥ף אֻמְנָ֛ם אֵלֵ֖ד וַאֲנִ֥י זָקַֽנְתִּי׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): hayipּale֥ meyehva֖h dּaba֑r lamּo'e֞d 'ashsh֥ub 'ele֛yka kּa'e֥t chayּa֖h uleshsara֥h beֽn׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Is anything too extraordinary for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son."

הֲיִפָּלֵ֥א מֵיְהוָ֖ה דָּבָ֑ר לַמּוֹעֵ֞ד אָשׁ֥וּב אֵלֶ֛יךָ כָּעֵ֥ת חַיָּ֖ה וּלְשָׂרָ֥ה בֵֽן׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): vatּekache֨shsh shsara֧h ׀ le'mo֛r lo֥ tzacha֖qetּiy kּi֣y ׀ yare֑'ah vayּo֥'mer ׀ lo֖ kּi֥y tzachaֽqetּe׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, "I did not laugh." But He said, "No, you did laugh."

וַתְּכַחֵ֨שׁ שָׂרָ֧ה ׀ לֵאמֹ֛ר לֹ֥א צָחַ֖קְתִּי כִּ֣י ׀ יָרֵ֑אָה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ׀ לֹ֖א כִּ֥י צָחָֽקְתְּ׃

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּaqu֤mu mishshּam֙ hֽa'anashshi֔ym vayּashsheqi֖pu 'al-pּene֣y sedo֑m ve'a֨beraha֔m hole֥ke 'imּa֖m leshshalּechaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see them on their way.

וַיָּקֻ֤מוּ מִשָּׁם֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים וַיַּשְׁקִ֖פוּ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י סְדֹ֑ם וְאַ֨בְרָהָ֔ם הֹלֵ֥ךְ עִמָּ֖ם לְשַׁלְּחָֽם׃

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): vaֽyhova֖h 'ama֑r hֽamekasּe֤h 'aniy֙ mֽe'aberaha֔m 'ashshe֖r 'ani֥y 'oshseֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

וַֽיהֹוָ֖ה אָמָ֑ר הַֽמְכַסֶּ֤ה אֲנִי֙ מֵֽאַבְרָהָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֲנִ֥י עֹשֶֽׂה׃

18
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'a֨beraha֔m hay֧o yiֽheye֛h leg֥oy gּad֖ol ve'atz֑um veni֨bereku b֔o kּo֖l gּoye֥y ha'aֽretz׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him.

וְאַ֨בְרָהָ֔ם הָי֧וֹ יִֽהְיֶ֛ה לְג֥וֹי גָּד֖וֹל וְעָצ֑וּם וְנִ֨בְרְכוּ ב֔וֹ כֹּ֖ל גּוֹיֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃

19
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֣y yeda'etּi֗yv lema'an֩ 'ashshe֨r yetzaue֜h 'et-bּana֤yv ve'et-bּeyto֙ 'achara֔yv veshshaֽmeru֙ dּe֣reke yehva֔h la'ashs֥ot tzedaqa֖h umishshepּa֑t lema֗'an habi֤y yehvah֙ 'al-'aberaha֔m 'e֥t 'ashsher-dּibּe֖r 'alaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)For I have known him, so that he will command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what He has promised him."

כִּ֣י יְדַעְתִּ֗יו לְמַעַן֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יְצַוֶּ֜ה אֶת־בָּנָ֤יו וְאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ֙ אַחֲרָ֔יו וְשָֽׁמְרוּ֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ יְהוָ֔ה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת צְדָקָ֖ה וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט לְמַ֗עַן הָבִ֤יא יְהוָה֙ עַל־אַבְרָהָ֔ם אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּ֖ר עָלָֽיו׃

20
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֣'mer yehva֔h za'aqa֛t sedo֥m va'amora֖h kּiy-ra֑bּah vecha֨tּa'ta֔m kּi֥y kabeda֖h me'oֽd׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה זַעֲקַ֛ת סְדֹ֥ם וַעֲמֹרָ֖ה כִּי־רָ֑בָּה וְחַ֨טָּאתָ֔ם כִּ֥י כָבְדָ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃

21
Phonetic (Hebrew): eֽradah-nּa֣ ve'ere'e֔h hakּetza'aqata֛hּ habּa֥'ah 'ela֖y 'ashs֣u ׀ kּala֑h ve'im-lo֖ 'edaֽ'ah׃
Edified Edition (EDE)that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

אֵֽרֲדָה־נָּ֣א וְאֶרְאֶ֔ה הַכְּצַעֲקָתָ֛הּ הַבָּ֥אָה אֵלַ֖י עָשׂ֣וּ ׀ כָּלָ֑ה וְאִם־לֹ֖א אֵדָֽעָה׃

22
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּipen֤u mishshּam֙ hֽa'anashshi֔ym vayּelek֖u sedo֑mah ve'a֨beraha֔m 'ode֥nּu 'ome֖d lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD.

וַיִּפְנ֤וּ מִשָּׁם֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ סְדֹ֑מָה וְאַ֨בְרָהָ֔ם עוֹדֶ֥נּוּ עֹמֵ֖ד לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

23
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּigּa֥shsh 'aberaha֖m vayּo'ma֑r ha'a֣p tּisepּe֔h tzadּi֖yq 'im-rashshaֽ'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Abraham approached Him and said: "Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

וַיִּגַּ֥שׁ אַבְרָהָ֖ם וַיֹּאמַ֑ר הַאַ֣ף תִּסְפֶּ֔ה צַדִּ֖יק עִם־רָשָֽׁע׃

24
Phonetic (Hebrew): ula֥y ye֛shsh chamishshּi֥ym tzadּiyqi֖m bּet֣oke ha'i֑yr ha'a֤p tּisepּeh֙ velo'-tishsּa֣ lamּaq֔om lema֛'an chamishshּi֥ym hatzּadּiyqi֖m 'ashshe֥r bּeqirebּaֽhּ׃
Edified Edition (EDE)What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?

אוּלַ֥י יֵ֛שׁ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים צַדִּיקִ֖ם בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעִ֑יר הַאַ֤ף תִּסְפֶּה֙ וְלֹא־תִשָּׂ֣א לַמָּק֔וֹם לְמַ֛עַן חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים הַצַּדִּיקִ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּקִרְבָּֽהּ׃

25
Phonetic (Hebrew): chali֨lah lּeka֜ me'ashso֣t ׀ kּadּaba֣r hazּe֗h lehami֤yt tzadּiyq֙ 'im-rashsha֔ vehaya֥h katzּadּi֖yq kּarashsha֑ chali֣lah lּa֔ke hashshopet֙ kּal-ha'a֔retz lo֥ ya'ashse֖h mishshepּaֽt׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Far be it from you to do such a thing, to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?"

חָלִ֨לָה לְּךָ֜ מֵעֲשֹׂ֣ת ׀ כַּדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֗ה לְהָמִ֤ית צַדִּיק֙ עִם־רָשָׁ֔ע וְהָיָ֥ה כַצַּדִּ֖יק כָּרָשָׁ֑ע חָלִ֣לָה לָּ֔ךְ הֲשֹׁפֵט֙ כָּל־הָאָ֔רֶץ לֹ֥א יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

26
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֣'mer yehva֔h 'im-'emetza֥ bisedo֛m chamishshּi֥ym tzadּiyqi֖m bּet֣oke ha'i֑yr venashsa֥'tiy lekal-hamּaq֖om bּa'aburaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake."

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה אִם־אֶמְצָ֥א בִסְדֹ֛ם חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים צַדִּיקִ֖ם בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעִ֑יר וְנָשָׂ֥אתִי לְכָל־הַמָּק֖וֹם בַּעֲבוּרָֽם׃

27
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa֥'an 'aberaha֖m vayּo'ma֑r hinּeh-na֤ ho'a֨letּiy֙ ledabּe֣r 'el-'adona֔y ve'anoki֖y 'apa֥r va'eֽper׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes,

וַיַּ֥עַן אַבְרָהָ֖ם וַיֹּאמַ֑ר הִנֵּה־נָ֤א הוֹאַ֨לְתִּי֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר אֶל־אֲדֹנָ֔י וְאָנֹכִ֖י עָפָ֥ר וָאֵֽפֶר׃

28
Phonetic (Hebrew): ֠ulay yacheser֞un chamishshּi֤ym hatzּadּiyqim֙ chamishshּa֔h hatashshechi֥yt bּachamishshּa֖h 'et-kּal-ha'i֑yr vayּo֨'mer֙ lo֣ 'ashshechi֔yt 'im-'emetza֣ shsha֔m 'arebּa'i֖ym vachamishshּaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?" "If I find forty-five there," He said, "I will not destroy it."

א֠וּלַי יַחְסְר֞וּן חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים הַצַּדִּיקִם֙ חֲמִשָּׁ֔ה הֲתַשְׁחִ֥ית בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה אֶת־כָּל־הָעִ֑יר וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אַשְׁחִ֔ית אִם־אֶמְצָ֣א שָׁ֔ם אַרְבָּעִ֖ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃

29
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֨sep '֜od ledabּe֤r 'elayv֙ vayּo'ma֔r 'ula֛y yimּatze'֥un shsha֖m 'arebּa'i֑ym vayּo֨'mer֙ lo֣ 'ֽe'eshse֔h bּa'ab֖ur ha'arebּa'iֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Once again he spoke to Him, "What if only forty are found there?" He said, "For the sake of forty, I will not do it."

וַיֹּ֨סֶף ע֜וֹד לְדַבֵּ֤ר אֵלָיו֙ וַיֹּאמַ֔ר אוּלַ֛י יִמָּצְא֥וּן שָׁ֖ם אַרְבָּעִ֑ים וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֔ה בַּעֲב֖וּר הָאַרְבָּעִֽים׃

30
Phonetic (Hebrew): va֠yּo'mer 'al-na֞ yi֤char lֽa'donay֙ va'adabּe֔rah 'ula֛y yimּatze'֥un shsha֖m shsheloshshi֑ym vayּo֨'mer֙ lo֣ 'ֽe'eshse֔h 'im-'emetza֥ shsha֖m shsheloshshiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?" He answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there."

וַ֠יֹּאמֶר אַל־נָ֞א יִ֤חַר לַֽאדֹנָי֙ וַאֲדַבֵּ֔רָה אוּלַ֛י יִמָּצְא֥וּן שָׁ֖ם שְׁלֹשִׁ֑ים וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֔ה אִם־אֶמְצָ֥א שָׁ֖ם שְׁלֹשִֽׁים׃

31
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֗'mer hinּeֽh-na֤ ho'a֨letּiy֙ ledabּe֣r 'el-'adona֔y 'ula֛y yimּatze'֥un shsha֖m 'eshseri֑ym vayּo֨'mer֙ lo֣ 'ashshechi֔yt bּa'ab֖ur hֽa'eshseriֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He said, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?" He said, "For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it."

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּֽה־נָ֤א הוֹאַ֨לְתִּי֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר אֶל־אֲדֹנָ֔י אוּלַ֛י יִמָּצְא֥וּן שָׁ֖ם עֶשְׂרִ֑ים וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אַשְׁחִ֔ית בַּעֲב֖וּר הָֽעֶשְׂרִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va֠yּo'mer 'al-na֞ yi֤char laֽ'donay֙ va'adabּera֣h 'ake-hapּa֔'am 'ula֛y yimּatze'֥un shsha֖m 'ashsara֑h vayּo֨'mer֙ lo֣ 'ashshechi֔yt bּa'ab֖ur ha'ashsaraֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?" He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it."

וַ֠יֹּאמֶר אַל־נָ֞א יִ֤חַר לַֽאדֹנָי֙ וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה אַךְ־הַפַּ֔עַם אוּלַ֛י יִמָּצְא֥וּן שָׁ֖ם עֲשָׂרָ֑ה וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אַשְׁחִ֔ית בַּעֲב֖וּר הָעֲשָׂרָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּe֣leke yehva֔h kּa'ashshe֣r kּilּa֔h ledabּe֖r 'el-'aberaha֑m ve'aberaha֖m shsha֥b limeqomֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, He left, and Abraham returned home.

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר כִּלָּ֔ה לְדַבֵּ֖ר אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֑ם וְאַבְרָהָ֖ם שָׁ֥ב לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃
