Chapter 21
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): mashsּa֖ midebּar-ya֑m kּesup֤ot bּanּe֨geb֙ laֽchalo֔p mimּidebּa֣r bּa֔ me'e֖retz nora'aֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it comes from the desert, from a terrible land.

מַשָּׂ֖א מִדְבַּר־יָ֑ם כְּסוּפ֤וֹת בַּנֶּ֨גֶב֙ לַֽחֲלֹ֔ף מִמִּדְבָּ֣ר בָּ֔א מֵאֶ֖רֶץ נוֹרָאָֽה׃

2
Phonetic (Hebrew): chaz֥ut qashsha֖h hugּad-li֑y habּoge֤d ׀ bּoged֙ vehashshּode֣d ׀ shshode֔d 'ali֤y 'eylam֙ tzuri֣y mada֔y kּal-'anechata֖h hishshebּaֽtּiy׃
Edified Edition (EDE)A grievous vision is declared to me; the treacherous dealer deals treacherously, and the spoiler spoils. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

חָז֥וּת קָשָׁ֖ה הֻגַּד־לִ֑י הַבּוֹגֵ֤ד ׀ בּוֹגֵד֙ וְהַשּׁוֹדֵ֣ד ׀ שׁוֹדֵ֔ד עֲלִ֤י עֵילָם֙ צוּרִ֣י מָדַ֔י כָּל־אַנְחָתָ֖ה הִשְׁבַּֽתִּי׃

3
Phonetic (Hebrew): al-kּe֗n male'֤u matenay֙ chalechala֔h tziyri֣ym 'achaz֔uniy kּetziyre֖y yֽoleda֑h na'ave֣ytiy mishshּemo֔'a nibeha֖letּiy mere'ֽot׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travails: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.

עַל־כֵּ֗ן מָלְא֤וּ מָתְנַי֙ חַלְחָלָ֔ה צִירִ֣ים אֲחָז֔וּנִי כְּצִירֵ֖י יֽוֹלֵדָ֑ה נַעֲוֵ֣יתִי מִשְּׁמֹ֔עַ נִבְהַ֖לְתִּי מֵרְאֽוֹת׃

4
Phonetic (Hebrew): tּa'a֣h lebabi֔y pּalּatz֖ut bּiֽ'ata֑teniy 'e֚t ne֣shshep chishsheqi֔y shsa֥m li֖y lacharadaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure has He turned into fear to me.

תָּעָ֣ה לְבָבִ֔י פַּלָּצ֖וּת בִּֽעֲתָ֑תְנִי אֵ֚ת נֶ֣שֶׁף חִשְׁקִ֔י שָׂ֥ם לִ֖י לַחֲרָדָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): aro֧ke hashshּulecha֛n tzapo֥h hatzּapi֖yt 'ak֣ol shshato֑h q֥umu hashsּari֖ym mishshech֥u mageֽn׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, you princes, and anoint the shield.

עָרֹ֧ךְ הַשֻּׁלְחָ֛ן צָפֹ֥ה הַצָּפִ֖ית אָכ֣וֹל שָׁתֹ֑ה ק֥וּמוּ הַשָּׂרִ֖ים מִשְׁח֥וּ מָגֵֽן׃פ

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֣y ko֥h 'ama֛r 'ela֖y 'adona֑y le֚ke ha'ame֣d haֽmetzapּe֔h 'ashshe֥r yire'e֖h yagּiֽyd׃
Edified Edition (EDE)For thus has the Lord said to me, "Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he sees."

כִּ֣י כֹ֥ה אָמַ֛ר אֵלַ֖י אֲדֹנָ֑י לֵ֚ךְ הַעֲמֵ֣ד הַֽמְצַפֶּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִרְאֶ֖ה יַגִּֽיד׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): vera֣'ah re֗keb tze֚med pּaֽrashshi֔ym re֥keb cham֖or re֣keb gּama֑l vehiqeshshi֥yb qe֖shsheb rab-qaֽshsheb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:

וְרָ֣אָה רֶ֗כֶב צֶ֚מֶד פָּֽרָשִׁ֔ים רֶ֥כֶב חֲמ֖וֹר רֶ֣כֶב גָּמָ֑ל וְהִקְשִׁ֥יב קֶ֖שֶׁב רַב־קָֽשֶׁב׃

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiqera֖ 'areye֑h 'al-mitzepּe֣h ׀ 'adona֗y 'anoki֞y 'ome֤d tּamiyd֙ yoma֔m ve'al-mi֨shshemaretּi֔y 'anoki֥y nitzּa֖b kּal-halּeylֽot׃
Edified Edition (EDE)And he cried, "A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:"

וַיִּקְרָ֖א אַרְיֵ֑ה עַל־מִצְפֶּ֣ה ׀ אֲדֹנָ֗י אָנֹכִ֞י עֹמֵ֤ד תָּמִיד֙ יוֹמָ֔ם וְעַל־מִ֨שְׁמַרְתִּ֔י אָנֹכִ֥י נִצָּ֖ב כָּל־הַלֵּילֽוֹת׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehinּeh-ze֥h ba'֙ re֣keb 'i֔yshsh tze֖med pּaֽrashshi֑ym vayּa֣'an vayּo֗'mer napela֤h naֽpelah֙ bּabe֔l vekal-pּesiyle֥y 'elohe֖yha shshibּa֥r la'aֽretz׃
Edified Edition (EDE)And, behold, here comes a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods He has broken to the ground."

וְהִנֵּה־זֶ֥ה בָא֙ רֶ֣כֶב אִ֔ישׁ צֶ֖מֶד פָּֽרָשִׁ֑ים וַיַּ֣עַן וַיֹּ֗אמֶר נָפְלָ֤ה נָֽפְלָה֙ בָּבֶ֔ל וְכָל־פְּסִילֵ֥י אֱלֹהֶ֖יהָ שִׁבַּ֥ר לָאָֽרֶץ׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): medushshati֖y uben-gּareni֑y 'ashshe֣r shshama֗'etּiy me'e֨t yehva֧h tzeba'֛ot 'elohe֥y yishsera'e֖l higּa֥detּiy lakeֽm׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared to you.

מְדֻשָׁתִ֖י וּבֶן־גָּרְנִ֑י אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁמַ֗עְתִּי מֵאֵ֨ת יְהוָ֧ה צְבָא֛וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל הִגַּ֥דְתִּי לָכֶֽם׃ס

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): mashsּa֖ dּuma֑h 'elay֙ qore֣ mishsּe'i֔yr shshomer֙ mah-milּa֔yelah shshome֖r mah-milּeֽyl׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The burden of Dumah. He calls to me out of Seir, "Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?"

מַשָּׂ֖א דּוּמָ֑ה אֵלַי֙ קֹרֵ֣א מִשֵּׂעִ֔יר שֹׁמֵר֙ מַה־מִלַּ֔יְלָה שֹׁמֵ֖ר מַה־מִלֵּֽיל׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): ama֣r shshome֔r 'ata֥h bo֖qer vegam-la֑yelah 'im-tּibe'ay֥un bּe'a֖yu shshu֥bu 'etaֽyu׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)The watchman said, "The morning comes, and also the night: if you will enquire, enquire you: return, come."

אָמַ֣ר שֹׁמֵ֔ר אָתָ֥ה בֹ֖קֶר וְגַם־לָ֑יְלָה אִם־תִּבְעָי֥וּן בְּעָ֖יוּ שֻׁ֥בוּ אֵתָֽיוּ׃ס

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): mashsּa֖ bּa'era֑b bּayּa֤'ar bּa'erab֙ tּali֔ynu 'oֽrech֖ot dּedaniֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall you lodge, O you travelling companies of Dedanim.

מַשָּׂ֖א בַּעְרָ֑ב בַּיַּ֤עַר בַּעְרַב֙ תָּלִ֔ינוּ אֹֽרְח֖וֹת דְּדָנִֽים׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): liqera֥'t tzame֖ heta֣yu ma֑yim yoshshebey֙ 'e֣retz tּeyma֔ bּelachem֖o qidּem֥u nodeֽd׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.

לִקְרַ֥את צָמֵ֖א הֵתָ֣יוּ מָ֑יִם יֹשְׁבֵי֙ אֶ֣רֶץ תֵּימָ֔א בְּלַחְמ֖וֹ קִדְּמ֥וּ נֹדֵֽד׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiֽy-mipּene֥y charab֖ot nada֑du mipּene֣y ׀ che֣reb netushsha֗h umipּeney֙ qe֣shshet dּeruka֔h umipּene֖y kּo֥bed milechamaֽh׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

כִּֽי־מִפְּנֵ֥י חֲרָב֖וֹת נָדָ֑דוּ מִפְּנֵ֣י ׀ חֶ֣רֶב נְטוּשָׁ֗ה וּמִפְּנֵי֙ קֶ֣שֶׁת דְּרוּכָ֔ה וּמִפְּנֵ֖י כֹּ֥בֶד מִלְחָמָֽה׃ס

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy-ko֛h 'ama֥r 'adona֖y 'ela֑y bּe'֤od shshanah֙ kּishshene֣y shsaki֔yr vekala֖h kּal-kּeb֥od qedaֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)For thus has the Lord said to me, "Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:"

כִּי־כֹ֛ה אָמַ֥ר אֲדֹנָ֖י אֵלָ֑י בְּע֤וֹד שָׁנָה֙ כִּשְׁנֵ֣י שָׂכִ֔יר וְכָלָ֖ה כָּל־כְּב֥וֹד קֵדָֽר׃

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): ushshe'a֧r misepּar-qe֛shshet gּibּore֥y beneֽy-qeda֖r yime'a֑tu kּi֛y yehva֥h 'eloheֽy-yishsera'e֖l dּibּeֽr׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel has spoken it.

וּשְׁאָ֧ר מִסְפַּר־קֶ֛שֶׁת גִּבּוֹרֵ֥י בְנֵֽי־קֵדָ֖ר יִמְעָ֑טוּ כִּ֛י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל דִּבֵּֽר׃ס
