Isaiah

Chapter 56

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֚h 'ama֣r yehva֔h shshimer֥u mishshepּa֖t va'ashs֣u tzedaqa֑h kּiֽy-qeroba֤h yeshshֽu'atiy֙ lab֔o vetzideqati֖y lehigּalֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus says the LORD, "Keep you judgement, and do justice: for My salvation is near to come, and My righteousness to be revealed."

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שִׁמְר֥וּ מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וַעֲשׂ֣וּ צְדָקָ֑ה כִּֽי־קְרוֹבָ֤ה יְשֽׁוּעָתִי֙ לָב֔וֹא וְצִדְקָתִ֖י לְהִגָּלֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ashshere֤y 'enoshsh֙ ya'ashseh-zּo֔'t uben-'ada֖m yachazi֣yq bּa֑hּ shshome֤r shshabּat֙ meֽchalּel֔o veshshome֥r yad֖o me'ashs֥ot kּal-raֽ'׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Blessed is the man that does this, and the son of man that lays hold on it; that keeps the sabbath from polluting it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.

אַשְׁרֵ֤י אֱנוֹשׁ֙ יַעֲשֶׂה־זֹּ֔את וּבֶן־אָדָ֖ם יַחֲזִ֣יק בָּ֑הּ שֹׁמֵ֤ר שַׁבָּת֙ מֵֽחַלְּל֔וֹ וְשֹׁמֵ֥ר יָד֖וֹ מֵעֲשׂ֥וֹת כָּל־רָֽע׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'al-yo'ma֣r bּen-hanּeka֗r hanּileva֤h 'el-yehvah֙ le'mo֔r habedּe֧l yabedּiyla֛niy yehva֖h me'a֣l 'amּ֑o ve'al-yo'mar֙ hasּari֔ys he֥n 'ani֖y 'e֥tz yabeֽshsh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Neither let the son of the stranger, that has joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, "The LORD has utterly separated me from His people;" neither let the eunuch say, "Behold, I am a dry tree."

וְאַל־יֹאמַ֣ר בֶּן־הַנֵּכָ֗ר הַנִּלְוָ֤ה אֶל־יְהוָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַבְדֵּ֧ל יַבְדִּילַ֛נִי יְהוָ֖ה מֵעַ֣ל עַמּ֑וֹ וְאַל־יֹאמַר֙ הַסָּרִ֔יס הֵ֥ן אֲנִ֖י עֵ֥ץ יָבֵֽשׁ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy-ko֣h ׀ 'ama֣r yehva֗h lasּaֽriysiym֙ 'ashshe֤r yishshemeru֙ 'et-shshabּetota֔y ubaֽchar֖u bּa'ashshe֣r chapa֑tzetּiy umachaziyqi֖ym bּiberiytiֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For thus says the LORD to the eunuchs that keep My sabbaths, and choose the things that please Me, and take hold of My covenant;

כִּי־כֹ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה לַסָּֽרִיסִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִשְׁמְרוּ֙ אֶת־שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֔י וּבָֽחֲר֖וּ בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר חָפָ֑צְתִּי וּמַחֲזִיקִ֖ים בִּבְרִיתִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venatatּi֨y lahe֜m bּebeyti֤y ubechֽomotay֙ ya֣d vashshe֔m t֖ob mibּani֣ym umibּan֑ot shshe֤m 'olam֙ 'etּen-l֔o 'ashshe֖r lo֥ yikּareֽt׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Even to them will I give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

וְנָתַתִּ֨י לָהֶ֜ם בְּבֵיתִ֤י וּבְחֽוֹמֹתַי֙ יָ֣ד וָשֵׁ֔ם ט֖וֹב מִבָּנִ֣ים וּמִבָּנ֑וֹת שֵׁ֤ם עוֹלָם֙ אֶתֶּן־ל֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֥א יִכָּרֵֽת׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubene֣y hanּeka֗r hanּilevi֤ym 'al-yehvah֙ leshsha֣ret֔o uֽle'ahabah֙ 'et-shshe֣m yehva֔h lihey֥ot l֖o la'abadi֑ym kּal-shshome֤r shshabּat֙ meֽchalּel֔o umachaziyqi֖ym bּiberiytiֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be His servants, every one that keeps the sabbath from polluting it, and takes hold of My covenant;

וּבְנֵ֣י הַנֵּכָ֗ר הַנִּלְוִ֤ים עַל־יְהוָה֙ לְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ וּֽלְאַהֲבָה֙ אֶת־שֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה לִהְי֥וֹת ל֖וֹ לַעֲבָדִ֑ים כָּל־שֹׁמֵ֤ר שַׁבָּת֙ מֵֽחַלְּל֔וֹ וּמַחֲזִיקִ֖ים בִּבְרִיתִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vahabiy'oti֞ym 'el-ha֣r qadeshshi֗y veshsimּachetּiym֙ bּebe֣yt tּepilּati֔y 'oloteyhe֧m vezibecheyhe֛m leratz֖on 'aֽl-mizebּechi֑y kּi֣y beyti֔y bּeyt-tּepilּa֥h yiqּare֖ lekal-ha'amּiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Even them will I bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon My altar; for My house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

וַהֲבִיאוֹתִ֞ים אֶל־הַ֣ר קָדְשִׁ֗י וְשִׂמַּחְתִּים֙ בְּבֵ֣ית תְּפִלָּתִ֔י עוֹלֹתֵיהֶ֧ם וְזִבְחֵיהֶ֛ם לְרָצ֖וֹן עַֽל־מִזְבְּחִ֑י כִּ֣י בֵיתִ֔י בֵּית־תְּפִלָּ֥ה יִקָּרֵ֖א לְכָל־הָעַמִּֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ne'um֙ 'adona֣y yehvi֔h meqabּe֖tz nideche֣y yishsera'e֑l '֛od 'aqabּe֥tz 'ala֖yv leniqebּatzaֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The Lord GOD which gathers the outcasts of Israel says, "Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered to him."

נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה מְקַבֵּ֖ץ נִדְחֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל ע֛וֹד אֲקַבֵּ֥ץ עָלָ֖יו לְנִקְבָּצָֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֖l chayet֣o shsada֑y 'eta֕yu le'eko֥l kּal-chayet֖o bּayּaֽ'ar׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)All you beasts of the field, come to devour, yes, all you beasts in the forest.

כֹּ֖ל חַיְת֣וֹ שָׂדָ֑י אֵתָ֕יוּ לֶאֱכֹ֥ל כָּל־חַיְת֖וֹ בַּיָּֽעַר׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): tzpv tzopa֞yv 'iveri֤ym kּulּam֙ lo֣ yada֔'u kּulּam֙ kּelabi֣ym 'ilּemi֔ym lo֥ yukel֖u linebּo֑cha hoziym֙ shshoֽkebi֔ym 'ohabe֖y lanֽum׃

Edified Edition (EDE)His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

צפו צֹפָ֞יו עִוְרִ֤ים כֻּלָּם֙ לֹ֣א יָדָ֔עוּ כֻּלָּם֙ כְּלָבִ֣ים אִלְּמִ֔ים לֹ֥א יוּכְל֖וּ לִנְבֹּ֑חַ הֹזִים֙ שֹֽׁכְבִ֔ים אֹהֲבֵ֖י לָנֽוּם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehakּelabi֣ym 'azּey-ne֗peshsh lo֤ yaֽde'u֙ shsabe'a֔h vehe֣mּah ro'i֔ym lo֥ yade'֖u habi֑yn kּulּam֙ ledarekּa֣m pּan֔u 'i֥yshsh lebitze'֖o miqּatzeֽhu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Yes, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

וְהַכְּלָבִ֣ים עַזֵּי־נֶ֗פֶשׁ לֹ֤א יָֽדְעוּ֙ שָׂבְעָ֔ה וְהֵ֣מָּה רֹעִ֔ים לֹ֥א יָדְע֖וּ הָבִ֑ין כֻּלָּם֙ לְדַרְכָּ֣ם פָּנ֔וּ אִ֥ישׁ לְבִצְע֖וֹ מִקָּצֵֽהוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): eta֥yu 'eqechah-ya֖yin venisebּe'a֣h shsheka֑r vehaya֤h kazeh֙ y֣om macha֔r gּad֖ol ye֥ter me'oֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Come you," say they, "I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant."

אֵתָ֥יוּ אֶקְחָה־יַ֖יִן וְנִסְבְּאָ֣ה שֵׁכָ֑ר וְהָיָ֤ה כָזֶה֙ י֣וֹם מָחָ֔ר גָּד֖וֹל יֶ֥תֶר מְאֹֽד׃
