Chapter 63

Phonetic (Hebrew): miy-ze֣h ׀ bּa֣ me'ed֗om cham֤utz bּegadiym֙ mibּatzera֔h ze֚h had֣ur bּilebushsh֔o tzo'e֖h bּero֣b kּoch֑o 'ani֛y medabּe֥r bּitzedaqa֖h ra֥b lehoshshiֽy'a׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Who is this that comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? "I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save."

מִי־זֶ֣ה ׀ בָּ֣א מֵאֱד֗וֹם חֲמ֤וּץ בְּגָדִים֙ מִבָּצְרָ֔ה זֶ֚ה הָד֣וּר בִּלְבוּשׁ֔וֹ צֹעֶ֖ה בְּרֹ֣ב כֹּח֑וֹ אֲנִ֛י מְדַבֵּ֥ר בִּצְדָקָ֖ה רַ֥ב לְהוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): madּ֥u'a 'ado֖m lilebushshe֑ka ubegade֖yka kּedore֥ke bּegaֽt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Wherefore are You red in Your apparel, and Your garments like him that treads in the winefat?"

מַדּ֥וּעַ אָדֹ֖ם לִלְבוּשֶׁ֑ךָ וּבְגָדֶ֖יךָ כְּדֹרֵ֥ךְ בְּגַֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): pּura֣h ׀ dּara֣ketּiy lebadּi֗y umeֽ'amּiym֙ 'eֽyn-'i֣yshsh 'itּi֔y ve'edereke֣m bּe'apּi֔y ve'eremese֖m bּachamati֑y veye֤z nitzecham֙ 'al-bּegada֔y vekal-malebּushsha֖y 'ege'aֽletּiy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with Me: for I will tread them in My anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain all My raiment."

פּוּרָ֣ה ׀ דָּרַ֣כְתִּי לְבַדִּ֗י וּמֵֽעַמִּים֙ אֵֽין־אִ֣ישׁ אִתִּ֔י וְאֶדְרְכֵ֣ם בְּאַפִּ֔י וְאֶרְמְסֵ֖ם בַּחֲמָתִ֑י וְיֵ֤ז נִצְחָם֙ עַל־בְּגָדַ֔י וְכָל־מַלְבּוּשַׁ֖י אֶגְאָֽלְתִּי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֛y y֥om naqa֖m bּelibּi֑y ushshena֥t gּe'ula֖y bּaֽ'ah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"For the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed is come."

כִּ֛י י֥וֹם נָקָ֖ם בְּלִבִּ֑י וּשְׁנַ֥ת גְּאוּלַ֖י בָּֽאָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'abּiyt֙ ve'e֣yn 'oze֔r ve'eshshetּome֖m ve'e֣yn some֑ke vatּ֤oshshaֽ liy֙ zero'i֔y vachamati֖y hi֥y semakaֽteniy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore My own arm brought salvation to Me; and My fury, it upheld Me."

וְאַבִּיט֙ וְאֵ֣ין עֹזֵ֔ר וְאֶשְׁתּוֹמֵ֖ם וְאֵ֣ין סוֹמֵ֑ךְ וַתּ֤וֹשַֽׁע לִי֙ זְרֹעִ֔י וַחֲמָתִ֖י הִ֥יא סְמָכָֽתְנִי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'ab֤us 'amּiym֙ bּe'apּi֔y va'ashshakּere֖m bּachamati֑y ve'ori֥yd la'a֖retz nitzechaֽm׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will tread down the people in My anger, and make them drunk in My fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth."

וְאָב֤וּס עַמִּים֙ בְּאַפִּ֔י וַאֲשַׁכְּרֵ֖ם בַּחֲמָתִ֑י וְאוֹרִ֥יד לָאָ֖רֶץ נִצְחָֽם׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): chaֽsede֨y yehva֤h ׀ 'azekּiyr֙ tּehilּo֣t yehva֔h kּe'a֕l kּo֥l 'ashsher-gּemala֖nu yehva֑h verab-tub֙ lebe֣yt yishsera'e֔l 'ashsher-gּemala֥m kּeֽrachama֖yv ukero֥b chasadaֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.

חַֽסְדֵ֨י יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אַזְכִּיר֙ תְּהִלֹּ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה כְּעַ֕ל כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־גְּמָלָ֖נוּ יְהוָ֑ה וְרַב־טוּב֙ לְבֵ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־גְּמָלָ֥ם כְּֽרַחֲמָ֖יו וּכְרֹ֥ב חֲסָדָֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֨'mer֙ 'ake-'amּi֣y he֔mּah bּani֖ym lo֣ yeshshaqּe֑ru vayehi֥y lahe֖m lemoshshiֽy'a׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For He said, "Surely they are My people, children that will not lie:" so He was their Saviour.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אַךְ־עַמִּ֣י הֵ֔מָּה בָּנִ֖ים לֹ֣א יְשַׁקֵּ֑רוּ וַיְהִ֥י לָהֶ֖ם לְמוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּeֽkal-tzarata֣m ׀ l l֣o tza֗r umale'a֤ke pּanayv֙ hֽoshshiy'a֔m bּe'ahabat֥o ubechemelat֖o h֣u ge'ala֑m vaֽyenatּele֥m vaֽyenashsּe'e֖m kּal-yeme֥y 'olaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them: in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

בְּֽכָל־צָרָתָ֣ם ׀ לא ל֣וֹ צָ֗ר וּמַלְאַ֤ךְ פָּנָיו֙ הֽוֹשִׁיעָ֔ם בְּאַהֲבָת֥וֹ וּבְחֶמְלָת֖וֹ ה֣וּא גְאָלָ֑ם וַֽיְנַטְּלֵ֥ם וַֽיְנַשְּׂאֵ֖ם כָּל־יְמֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehe֛mּah mar֥u ve'itzּeb֖u 'et-r֣ucha qadeshsh֑o vayּehape֥ke lahe֛m le'oye֖b h֥u nilecham-bּaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But they rebelled, and vexed His holy Spirit: therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them.

וְהֵ֛מָּה מָר֥וּ וְעִצְּב֖וּ אֶת־ר֣וּחַ קָדְשׁ֑וֹ וַיֵּהָפֵ֥ךְ לָהֶ֛ם לְאוֹיֵ֖ב ה֥וּא נִלְחַם־בָּֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּizekּo֥r yemeֽy-'ola֖m moshshe֣h 'amּ֑o 'ayּe֣h ׀ haֽmּa'ale֣m miyּa֗m 'e֚t ro'e֣y tzo'n֔o 'ayּe֛h hashsּa֥m bּeqirebּ֖o 'et-r֥ucha qadeshshֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, "Where is He that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is He that put His holy Spirit within him?"

וַיִּזְכֹּ֥ר יְמֵֽי־עוֹלָ֖ם מֹשֶׁ֣ה עַמּ֑וֹ אַיֵּ֣ה ׀ הַֽמַּעֲלֵ֣ם מִיָּ֗ם אֵ֚ת רֹעֵ֣י צֹאנ֔וֹ אַיֵּ֛ה הַשָּׂ֥ם בְּקִרְבּ֖וֹ אֶת־ר֥וּחַ קָדְשֽׁוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): moliyke֙ liymi֣yn moshshe֔h zer֖o'a tּipe'aretּ֑o bּ֤oqeֽ'a ma֨yim֙ mipּeneyhe֔m la'ashs֥ot l֖o shshe֥m 'olaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"That led them by the right hand of Moses with His glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make Himself an everlasting name?"

מוֹלִיךְ֙ לִימִ֣ין מֹשֶׁ֔ה זְר֖וֹעַ תִּפְאַרְתּ֑וֹ בּ֤וֹקֵֽעַ מַ֨יִם֙ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת ל֖וֹ שֵׁ֥ם עוֹלָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): moliyka֖m bּatּehom֑ot kּasּ֥us bּamּidebּa֖r lo֥ yikּashsheֽlu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?"

מוֹלִיכָ֖ם בַּתְּהֹמ֑וֹת כַּסּ֥וּס בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר לֹ֥א יִכָּשֵֽׁלוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּabּehemah֙ bּabּiqe'a֣h tere֔d r֥ucha yehva֖h tּeniyche֑nּu kּe֚n niha֣getּa 'amּeka֔ la'ashs֥ot leka֖ shshe֥m tּipe'aֽret׃

Edified Edition (EDE)As a beast goes down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so did You lead Your people, to make Yourself a glorious name.

כַּבְּהֵמָה֙ בַּבִּקְעָ֣ה תֵרֵ֔ד ר֥וּחַ יְהוָ֖ה תְּנִיחֶ֑נּוּ כֵּ֚ן נִהַ֣גְתָּ עַמְּךָ֔ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לְךָ֖ שֵׁ֥ם תִּפְאָֽרֶת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): habּe֤t mishshּama֨yim֙ ure'e֔h mizּebu֥l qadeshsheka֖ vetipe'aretּe֑ka 'ayּe֤h qine'ֽateka֙ ugeb֣urote֔ka ham֥on me'e֛yka veֽrachame֖yka 'ela֥y hite'apּaֽqu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of Your holiness and of Your glory: where is Your zeal and Your strength, the sounding of Your bowels and of Your mercies toward me? are they restrained?

הַבֵּ֤ט מִשָּׁמַ֨יִם֙ וּרְאֵ֔ה מִזְּבֻ֥ל קָדְשְׁךָ֖ וְתִפְאַרְתֶּ֑ךָ אַיֵּ֤ה קִנְאָֽתְךָ֙ וּגְב֣וּרֹתֶ֔ךָ הֲמ֥וֹן מֵעֶ֛יךָ וְֽרַחֲמֶ֖יךָ אֵלַ֥י הִתְאַפָּֽקוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiֽy-'atּa֣h 'abi֔ynu kּi֤y 'aberaham֙ lo֣ yeda'a֔nu veyishsera'e֖l lo֣ yakּiyra֑nu 'atּa֤h yehvah֙ 'abi֔ynu gּo'ale֥nu meֽ'ola֖m shshemeֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Doubtless You are our Father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: You, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer; Your name is from everlasting.

כִּֽי־אַתָּ֣ה אָבִ֔ינוּ כִּ֤י אַבְרָהָם֙ לֹ֣א יְדָעָ֔נוּ וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹ֣א יַכִּירָ֑נוּ אַתָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ אָבִ֔ינוּ גֹּאֲלֵ֥נוּ מֵֽעוֹלָ֖ם שְׁמֶֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): la֣mּah tate'e֤nu yehvah֙ midּerake֔yka tּaqeshshi֥ycha libּe֖nu miyּire'ate֑ka shsh֚ub lema֣'an 'abade֔yka shshibete֖y nachalateֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O LORD, why hast You made us to err from Your ways, and hardened our heart from Your fear? Return for Your servants' sake, the tribes of Your inheritance.

לָ֣מָּה תַתְעֵ֤נוּ יְהוָה֙ מִדְּרָכֶ֔יךָ תַּקְשִׁ֥יחַ לִבֵּ֖נוּ מִיִּרְאָתֶ֑ךָ שׁ֚וּב לְמַ֣עַן עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ שִׁבְטֵ֖י נַחֲלָתֶֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lamּitze'a֕r yareshsh֖u 'am-qadeshshe֑ka tzare֕ynu bּoses֖u miqedּashsheֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The people of Your holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down Your sanctuary.

לַמִּצְעָ֕ר יָרְשׁ֖וּ עַם־קָדְשֶׁ֑ךָ צָרֵ֕ינוּ בּוֹסְס֖וּ מִקְדָּשֶֽׁךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hayi֗ynu meֽ'olam֙ loֽ'-mashsha֣letּa bּa֔m loֽ'-niqera֥ shshimeka֖ 'aleyhe֑m lu'-qara֤'etּa shshama֨yim֙ yara֔detּa mipּane֖yka hari֥ym nazoֽlּu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)We are Yours: You never barest rule over them; they were not called by Your name.

הָיִ֗ינוּ מֵֽעוֹלָם֙ לֹֽא־מָשַׁ֣לְתָּ בָּ֔ם לֹֽא־נִקְרָ֥א שִׁמְךָ֖ עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם לוּא־קָרַ֤עְתָּ שָׁמַ֨יִם֙ יָרַ֔דְתָּ מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ הָרִ֥ים נָזֹֽלּוּ׃
