Chapter 48

Phonetic (Hebrew): lemo'a֡b kּoֽh-'amar֩ yehva֨h tzeba'֜ot 'elohe֣y yishsera'e֗l h֤oy 'el-nebo֙ kּi֣y shshudּa֔dah hobi֥yshshah nilekּeda֖h qireyata֑yim hobi֥yshshah hamּishsegּa֖b vachaֽtּah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Against Moab thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "Woe to Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed."

לְמוֹאָ֡ב כֹּֽה־אָמַר֩ יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל ה֤וֹי אֶל־נְבוֹ֙ כִּ֣י שֻׁדָּ֔דָה הֹבִ֥ישָׁה נִלְכְּדָ֖ה קִרְיָתָ֑יִם הֹבִ֥ישָׁה הַמִּשְׂגָּ֖ב וָחָֽתָּה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): e֣yn 'od֮ tּehilּa֣t mo'ab֒ bּecheshshebּ֗on chashsheb֤u 'ale֨yha֙ ra'a֔h lek֖u venakeriyte֣nּah migּ֑oy gּam-mademe֣n tּidּo֔mּiy 'achara֖yike tּe֥leke chaֽreb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; 'Come, and let us cut it off from being a nation.' Also you shall be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue you."

אֵ֣ין עוֹד֮ תְּהִלַּ֣ת מוֹאָב֒ בְּחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן חָשְׁב֤וּ עָלֶ֨יהָ֙ רָעָ֔ה לְכ֖וּ וְנַכְרִיתֶ֣נָּה מִגּ֑וֹי גַּם־מַדְמֵ֣ן תִּדֹּ֔מִּי אַחֲרַ֖יִךְ תֵּ֥לֶךְ חָֽרֶב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): q֥ol tze'aqa֖h mechoֽrona֑yim shsho֖d vashshe֥ber gּadֽol׃

Edified Edition (EDE)A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.

ק֥וֹל צְעָקָ֖ה מֵחֹֽרוֹנָ֑יִם שֹׁ֖ד וָשֶׁ֥בֶר גָּדֽוֹל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nishshebּera֖h mo'a֑b hishshemi֥y'u zּe'aqa֖h tz'vryh tze'iyreֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

נִשְׁבְּרָ֖ה מוֹאָ֑ב הִשְׁמִ֥יעוּ זְּעָקָ֖ה צעוריה צְעִירֶֽיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֚y ma'ale֣h hlchvt halּuchi֔yt bּibeki֖y yaֽ'aleh-bּe֑kiy kּi֚y bּemora֣d chorona֔yim tzare֥y tzaֽ'aqat-shshe֖ber shshameֽ'u׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.

כִּ֚י מַעֲלֵ֣ה הלחות הַלּוּחִ֔ית בִּבְכִ֖י יַֽעֲלֶה־בֶּ֑כִי כִּ֚י בְּמוֹרַ֣ד חוֹרֹנַ֔יִם צָרֵ֥י צַֽעֲקַת־שֶׁ֖בֶר שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nu֖su malּet֣u napeshsheke֑m vetiֽheye֕ynah kּa'aro'e֖r bּamּidebּaֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

נֻ֖סוּ מַלְּט֣וּ נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם וְתִֽהְיֶ֕ינָה כַּעֲרוֹעֵ֖ר בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֠y ya֣'an bּiteche֤ke bּema'ashsa֨yike֙ ube'֣otzerota֔yike gּam-'a֖tּe tּilּake֑diy veyatza֤ kmysh kemoshsh֙ bּagּola֔h kּohana֥yv veshsara֖yv ychd yachedּaֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"For because you hast trusted in your works and in your treasures, you shall also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together."

כִּ֠י יַ֣עַן בִּטְחֵ֤ךְ בְּמַעֲשַׂ֨יִךְ֙ וּבְא֣וֹצְרוֹתַ֔יִךְ גַּם־אַ֖תְּ תִּלָּכֵ֑דִי וְיָצָ֤א כמיש כְמוֹשׁ֙ בַּגּוֹלָ֔ה כֹּהֲנָ֥יו וְשָׂרָ֖יו יחד יַחְדָּֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veyabo֨ shshode֜d 'el-kּal-'i֗yr ve'iyr֙ lo֣ timּale֔t ve'aba֥d ha'e֖meq venishshema֣d hamּiyshsho֑r 'ashshe֖r 'ama֥r yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD has spoken."

וְיָבֹ֨א שֹׁדֵ֜ד אֶל־כָּל־עִ֗יר וְעִיר֙ לֹ֣א תִמָּלֵ֔ט וְאָבַ֥ד הָעֵ֖מֶק וְנִשְׁמַ֣ד הַמִּישֹׁ֑ר אֲשֶׁ֖ר אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tּenu-tzi֣ytz lemo'a֔b kּi֥y natzo֖ tּetze֑ ve'are֨yha֙ leshshamּa֣h tiֽheye֔ynah me'e֥yn yoshshe֖b bּaheֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Give wings to Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.

תְּנוּ־צִ֣יץ לְמוֹאָ֔ב כִּ֥י נָצֹ֖א תֵּצֵ֑א וְעָרֶ֨יהָ֙ לְשַׁמָּ֣ה תִֽהְיֶ֔ינָה מֵאֵ֥ין יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בָּהֵֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ar֗ur 'oshse֛h mele֥'ket yehva֖h remiyּa֑h ve'ar֕ur mone֥'a charebּ֖o midּaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Cursed be he that does the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keeps back his sword from blood.

אָר֗וּר עֹשֶׂ֛ה מְלֶ֥אכֶת יְהוָ֖ה רְמִיָּ֑ה וְאָר֕וּר מֹנֵ֥עַ חַרְבּ֖וֹ מִדָּֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shsha'ana֨n mo'a֜b minּe'ura֗yv veshshoqe֥t hu'֙ 'el-shshemara֔yv veloֽ'-hura֤q mikּeliy֙ 'el-kּe֔liy ubagּola֖h lo֣ hala֑ke 'al-kּe֗n 'ama֤d ta'emo֙ bּ֔o vereych֖o lo֥ namaֽr׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.

שַׁאֲנַ֨ן מוֹאָ֜ב מִנְּעוּרָ֗יו וְשֹׁקֵ֥ט הוּא֙ אֶל־שְׁמָרָ֔יו וְלֹֽא־הוּרַ֤ק מִכְּלִי֙ אֶל־כֶּ֔לִי וּבַגּוֹלָ֖ה לֹ֣א הָלָ֑ךְ עַל־כֵּ֗ן עָמַ֤ד טַעְמוֹ֙ בּ֔וֹ וְרֵיח֖וֹ לֹ֥א נָמָֽר׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): lake֞n hinּe֖h-yami֤ym bּa'iym֙ ne'um-yehva֔h veshshilּachetּiy-l֥o tzo'i֖ym vetze'u֑hu vekela֣yv yari֔yqu venibeleyhe֖m yenapּeֽtzu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will send to him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.

לָכֵ֞ן הִנֵּ֖ה־יָמִ֤ים בָּאִים֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי־ל֥וֹ צֹעִ֖ים וְצֵעֻ֑הוּ וְכֵלָ֣יו יָרִ֔יקוּ וְנִבְלֵיהֶ֖ם יְנַפֵּֽצוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubo֥shsh mo'a֖b mikּem֑oshsh kּa'ashsher-bּo֨shshu֙ bּe֣yt yishsera'e֔l mibּe֥yt 'e֖l mibetechaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.

וּבֹ֥שׁ מוֹאָ֖ב מִכְּמ֑וֹשׁ כַּאֲשֶׁר־בֹּ֨שׁוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִבֵּ֥ית אֵ֖ל מִבְטֶחָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): e֚yke tּoֽ'mer֔u gּibּori֖ym 'ana֑chenu ve'aneshshey-cha֖yil lamּilechamaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)How say you, "We are mighty and strong men for the war?"

אֵ֚יךְ תֹּֽאמְר֔וּ גִּבּוֹרִ֖ים אֲנָ֑חְנוּ וְאַנְשֵׁי־חַ֖יִל לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshudּa֤d mo'ab֙ ve'are֣yha 'ala֔h umibecha֥r bּaֽchura֖yv yared֣u latּa֑bach ne'u֨m-hamּe֔leke yehva֥h tzeba'֖ot shshemֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

שֻׁדַּ֤ד מוֹאָב֙ וְעָרֶ֣יהָ עָלָ֔ה וּמִבְחַ֥ר בַּֽחוּרָ֖יו יָרְד֣וּ לַטָּ֑בַח נְאֻ֨ם־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת שְׁמֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): qar֥ob 'eyd-mo'a֖b lab֑o vera֣'at֔o mihara֖h me'oֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hastens fast.

קָר֥וֹב אֵיד־מוֹאָ֖ב לָב֑וֹא וְרָ֣עָת֔וֹ מִהֲרָ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nu֤du lo֙ kּal-sebiyba֔yv veko֖l yode'e֣y shshem֑o 'imer֗u 'eyka֤h nishshebּar֙ matּeh-'o֔z maqּe֖l tּipe'araֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)All you that are about him, bemoan him; and all you that know his name, say, "How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!"

נֻ֤דוּ לוֹ֙ כָּל־סְבִיבָ֔יו וְכֹ֖ל יֹדְעֵ֣י שְׁמ֑וֹ אִמְר֗וּ אֵיכָ֤ה נִשְׁבַּר֙ מַטֵּה־עֹ֔ז מַקֵּ֖ל תִּפְאָרָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): redi֤y mikּabod֙ yshby ushshebi֣y batzּama֔ yoshshe֖bet bּat-dּiyb֑on kּiֽy-shshode֤d mo'ab֙ 'a֣lah ba֔ke shshiche֖t mibetzaraֽyike׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"You daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from your glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon you, and he shall destroy your strongholds."

רְדִ֤י מִכָּבוֹד֙ ישבי וּשְׁבִ֣י בַצָּמָ֔א יֹשֶׁ֖בֶת בַּת־דִּיב֑וֹן כִּֽי־שֹׁדֵ֤ד מוֹאָב֙ עָ֣לָה בָ֔ךְ שִׁחֵ֖ת מִבְצָרָֽיִךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): el-dּe֛reke 'imedi֥y vetzapּi֖y yoshshe֣bet 'aro'e֑r shsha'aliy-na֣s venimela֔tah 'imeri֖y mah-nּiֽheyaֽtah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that flees, and her that escapes, and say, "What is done?"

אֶל־דֶּ֛רֶךְ עִמְדִ֥י וְצַפִּ֖י יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת עֲרוֹעֵ֑ר שַׁאֲלִי־נָ֣ס וְנִמְלָ֔טָה אִמְרִ֖י מַה־נִּֽהְיָֽתָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hobi֥yshsh mo'a֛b kּiֽy-cha֖tּah hylyly heyli֣ylu ׀ vz'qy uֽze'a֑qu hagּi֣ydu be'aren֔on kּi֥y shshudּa֖d mo'aֽb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell you it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,

הֹבִ֥ישׁ מוֹאָ֛ב כִּֽי־חַ֖תָּה הילילי הֵילִ֣ילוּ ׀ וזעקי וּֽזְעָ֑קוּ הַגִּ֣ידוּ בְאַרְנ֔וֹן כִּ֥י שֻׁדַּ֖ד מוֹאָֽב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umishshepּa֥t bּa֖ 'el-'e֣retz hamּiyshsho֑r 'el-chol֥on ve'el-ya֖hetzah ve'al-mvp't meypaֽ'at׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And judgement is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,

וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט בָּ֖א אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַמִּישֹׁ֑ר אֶל־חֹל֥וֹן וְאֶל־יַ֖הְצָה וְעַל־מופעת מֵיפָֽעַת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'al-dּiyb֣on ve'al-neb֔o ve'al-bּe֖yt dּibelataֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Bethdiblathaim,

וְעַל־דִּיב֣וֹן וְעַל־נְב֔וֹ וְעַל־בֵּ֖ית דִּבְלָתָֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'a֧l qireyata֛yim ve'al-bּe֥yt gּam֖ul ve'al-bּe֥yt me'ֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmeon,

וְעַ֧ל קִרְיָתַ֛יִם וְעַל־בֵּ֥ית גָּמ֖וּל וְעַל־בֵּ֥ית מְעֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'al-qeriyּ֖ot ve'al-bּatzera֑h ve'a֗l kּal-'arey֙ 'e֣retz mo'a֔b harechoq֖ot vehaqּerobֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.

וְעַל־קְרִיּ֖וֹת וְעַל־בָּצְרָ֑ה וְעַ֗ל כָּל־עָרֵי֙ אֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֔ב הָרְחֹק֖וֹת וְהַקְּרֹבֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nigedּe'ah֙ qe֣ren mo'a֔b uzero'֖o nishshebּa֑rah ne'u֖m yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, says the LORD.

נִגְדְּעָה֙ קֶ֣רֶן מוֹאָ֔ב וּזְרֹע֖וֹ נִשְׁבָּ֑רָה נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hashshekּiyru֕hu kּi֥y 'al-yehva֖h higedּi֑yl vesapa֤q mo'ab֙ bּeqiy'֔o vehaya֥h lishsecho֖q gּam-hֽu'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Make you him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

הַשְׁכִּירֻ֕הוּ כִּ֥י עַל־יְהוָ֖ה הִגְדִּ֑יל וְסָפַ֤ק מוֹאָב֙ בְּקִיא֔וֹ וְהָיָ֥ה לִשְׂחֹ֖ק גַּם־הֽוּא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'i֣m ׀ l֣o hashsּecho֗q haya֤h leka֙ yishsera'e֔l 'im-bּeganּabi֖ym nmtz'h nimetza֑ kּiֽy-midּe֧y debare֥yka bּ֖o tּitenodaֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"For was not Israel a derision to you? was he found among thieves? for since you spakest of him, you skippedst for joy."

וְאִ֣ם ׀ ל֣וֹא הַשְּׂחֹ֗ק הָיָ֤ה לְךָ֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִם־בְּגַנָּבִ֖ים נמצאה נִמְצָ֑א כִּֽי־מִדֵּ֧י דְבָרֶ֥יךָ בּ֖וֹ תִּתְנוֹדָֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): izeb֤u 'ariym֙ veshshiken֣u bּasּe֔la yoshshebe֖y mo'a֑b viֽhey֣u keyona֔h tּeqanּe֖n bּe'ebere֥y piy-paֽchat׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O you that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that makes her nest in the sides of the hole's mouth.

עִזְב֤וּ עָרִים֙ וְשִׁכְנ֣וּ בַּסֶּ֔לַע יֹשְׁבֵ֖י מוֹאָ֑ב וִֽהְי֣וּ כְיוֹנָ֔ה תְּקַנֵּ֖ן בְּעֶבְרֵ֥י פִי־פָֽחַת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshama֥'enu ge'on-mo'a֖b gּe'e֣h me'o֑d gּabeh֧o uge'on֛o vega'avat֖o veru֥m libּֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.

שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ גְאוֹן־מוֹאָ֖ב גֵּאֶ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד גָּבְה֧וֹ וּגְאוֹנ֛וֹ וְגַאֲוָת֖וֹ וְרֻ֥ם לִבּֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ani֤y yada֨'etּiy֙ ne'um-yehva֔h 'eberat֖o velo'-ke֑n bּadּa֖yv lo'-ke֥n 'ashsֽu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"I know his wrath," says the LORD; "but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it."

אֲנִ֤י יָדַ֨עְתִּי֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה עֶבְרָת֖וֹ וְלֹא־כֵ֑ן בַּדָּ֖יו לֹא־כֵ֥ן עָשֽׂוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-kּen֙ 'al-mo'a֣b 'ayeli֔yl ulemo'a֥b kּulּo֖h 'eze'a֑q 'el-'aneshshe֥y qiֽyr-che֖reshs yehegּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kirheres.

עַל־כֵּן֙ עַל־מוֹאָ֣ב אֲיֵלִ֔יל וּלְמוֹאָ֥ב כֻּלֹּ֖ה אֶזְעָ֑ק אֶל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י קִֽיר־חֶ֖רֶשׂ יֶהְגֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): mibּeki֨y ya'eze֤r 'ebekּeh-lּake֙ hagּe֣pen shsibema֔h netiֽyshshota֨yike֙ 'a֣beru ya֔m 'a֛d ya֥m ya'eze֖r naga֑'u 'al-qeytze֥ke ve'al-bּetziyre֖ke shshode֥d napaֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for you with the weeping of Jazer: your plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon your summer fruits and upon your vintage.

מִבְּכִ֨י יַעְזֵ֤ר אֶבְכֶּה־לָּךְ֙ הַגֶּ֣פֶן שִׂבְמָ֔ה נְטִֽישֹׁתַ֨יִךְ֙ עָ֣בְרוּ יָ֔ם עַ֛ד יָ֥ם יַעְזֵ֖ר נָגָ֑עוּ עַל־קֵיצֵ֥ךְ וְעַל־בְּצִירֵ֖ךְ שֹׁדֵ֥ד נָפָֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vene'esepa֨h shsimecha֥h vagi֛yl mikּareme֖l ume'e֣retz mo'a֑b veya֨yin֙ miyqabi֣ym hishshebּa֔tּiy loֽ'-yidero֣ke heyda֔d heyda֖d lo֥ heydaֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.

וְנֶאֶסְפָ֨ה שִׂמְחָ֥ה וָגִ֛יל מִכַּרְמֶ֖ל וּמֵאֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֑ב וְיַ֨יִן֙ מִיקָבִ֣ים הִשְׁבַּ֔תִּי לֹֽא־יִדְרֹ֣ךְ הֵידָ֔ד הֵידָ֖ד לֹ֥א הֵידָֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): mizּa'aqa֨t cheshshebּ֜on 'ad-'ele'ale֗h 'ad-ya֨hatz֙ naten֣u qola֔m mitzּo֨'ar֙ 'ad-cho֣rona֔yim 'egela֖t shsheliֽshshiyּa֑h kּi֚y gּam-me֣y nimeri֔ym limeshshamּ֖ot yiheyֽu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, and even to Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.

מִזַּעֲקַ֨ת חֶשְׁבּ֜וֹן עַד־אֶלְעָלֵ֗ה עַד־יַ֨הַץ֙ נָתְנ֣וּ קוֹלָ֔ם מִצֹּ֨עַר֙ עַד־חֹ֣רֹנַ֔יִם עֶגְלַ֖ת שְׁלִֽשִׁיָּ֑ה כִּ֚י גַּם־מֵ֣י נִמְרִ֔ים לִמְשַׁמּ֖וֹת יִהְיֽוּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab," says the LORD, "him that offers in the high places, and him that burns incense to his gods."

וְהִשְׁבַּתִּ֥י לְמוֹאָ֖ב נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה מַעֲלֶ֣ה בָמָ֔ה וּמַקְטִ֖יר לֵאלֹהָֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-kּe֞n libּi֤y lemo'ab֙ kּachalili֣ym yeheme֔h velibּiy֙ 'el-'aneshshe֣y qiֽyr-che֔reshs kּachaliyli֖ym yeheme֑h 'al-kּe֛n yitera֥t 'ashsa֖h 'abaֽdu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the riches that he has gotten are perished.

עַל־כֵּ֞ן לִבִּ֤י לְמוֹאָב֙ כַּחֲלִלִ֣ים יֶהֱמֶ֔ה וְלִבִּי֙ אֶל־אַנְשֵׁ֣י קִֽיר־חֶ֔רֶשׂ כַּחֲלִילִ֖ים יֶהֱמֶ֑ה עַל־כֵּ֛ן יִתְרַ֥ת עָשָׂ֖ה אָבָֽדוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֤y kal-ro'shsh֙ qarecha֔h vekal-zaqa֖n gּeru'a֑h 'a֤l kּal-yada֨yim֙ gּedudo֔t ve'al-matena֖yim shsaֽq׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.

כִּ֤י כָל־רֹאשׁ֙ קָרְחָ֔ה וְכָל־זָקָ֖ן גְּרֻעָ֑ה עַ֤ל כָּל־יָדַ֨יִם֙ גְּדֻדֹ֔ת וְעַל־מָתְנַ֖יִם שָֽׂק׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): a֣l kּal-gּagּ֥ot mo'a֛b ubirechobote֖yha kּulּo֣h misepּe֑d kּiֽy-shshaba֣retּiy 'et-mo'a֗b kּikeli֛y 'eֽyn-che֥petz bּ֖o ne'um-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, says the LORD.

עַ֣ל כָּל־גַּגּ֥וֹת מוֹאָ֛ב וּבִרְחֹבֹתֶ֖יהָ כֻּלֹּ֣ה מִסְפֵּ֑ד כִּֽי־שָׁבַ֣רְתִּי אֶת־מוֹאָ֗ב כִּכְלִ֛י אֵֽין־חֵ֥פֶץ בּ֖וֹ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): e֥yke cha֨tּah֙ heyli֔ylu 'e֛yke hipenah-'o֥rep mo'a֖b bּ֑oshsh vehaya֥h mo'a֛b lishsecho֥q velimechitּa֖h lekal-sebiybaֽyv׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)They shall howl, saying, "How is it broken down! how has Moab turned the back with shame!" so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.

אֵ֥יךְ חַ֨תָּה֙ הֵילִ֔ילוּ אֵ֛יךְ הִפְנָה־עֹ֥רֶף מוֹאָ֖ב בּ֑וֹשׁ וְהָיָ֥ה מוֹאָ֛ב לִשְׂחֹ֥ק וְלִמְחִתָּ֖ה לְכָל־סְבִיבָֽיו׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy-koh֙ 'ama֣r yehva֔h hinּe֥h kanּe֖shsher yide'e֑h upara֥shs kּenapa֖yv 'el-mo'aֽb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For thus says the LORD; "Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab."

כִּי־כֹה֙ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנֵּ֥ה כַנֶּ֖שֶׁר יִדְאֶ֑ה וּפָרַ֥שׂ כְּנָפָ֖יו אֶל־מוֹאָֽב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nilekּedah֙ haqּeriyּ֔ot vehamּetzad֖ot nitepּa֑shsah veֽ֠hayah le֞b gּibּore֤y mo'ab֙ bּayּ֣om hah֔u kּele֖b 'ishshּa֥h metzeraֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are surprised, and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

נִלְכְּדָה֙ הַקְּרִיּ֔וֹת וְהַמְּצָד֖וֹת נִתְפָּ֑שָׂה וְֽ֠הָיָה לֵ֞ב גִּבּוֹרֵ֤י מוֹאָב֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא כְּלֵ֖ב אִשָּׁ֥ה מְצֵרָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venishshema֥d mo'a֖b me'a֑m kּi֥y 'al-yehva֖h higedּiֽyl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against the LORD.

וְנִשְׁמַ֥ד מוֹאָ֖ב מֵעָ֑ם כִּ֥י עַל־יְהוָ֖ה הִגְדִּֽיל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): pּa֥chad vapa֖chat vapa֑ch 'ale֛yka yoshshe֥b mo'a֖b ne'um-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon you, O inhabitant of Moab," says the LORD.

פַּ֥חַד וָפַ֖חַת וָפָ֑ח עָלֶ֛יךָ יוֹשֵׁ֥ב מוֹאָ֖ב נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hnys hanּa֞s mipּene֤y hapּa֨chad֙ yipּo֣l 'el-hapּa֔chat vehaֽ'oleh֙ min-hapּa֔chat yilּake֖d bּapּa֑ch kּiֽy-'abi֨y 'ele֧yha 'el-mo'a֛b shshena֥t pּequdּata֖m ne'um-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"He that flees from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that gets up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation," says the LORD.

הניס הַנָּ֞ס מִפְּנֵ֤י הַפַּ֨חַד֙ יִפֹּ֣ל אֶל־הַפַּ֔חַת וְהָֽעֹלֶה֙ מִן־הַפַּ֔חַת יִלָּכֵ֖ד בַּפָּ֑ח כִּֽי־אָבִ֨יא אֵלֶ֧יהָ אֶל־מוֹאָ֛ב שְׁנַ֥ת פְּקֻדָּתָ֖ם נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּetze֥l cheshshebּ֛on 'amed֖u mikּo֣cha nasi֑ym kּiֽy-'e֞shsh yatza֣ mecheshshebּ֗on veleֽhabah֙ mibּe֣yn siych֔on vatּo֨'kal֙ pּe'a֣t mo'a֔b veqadeqo֖d bּene֥y shsha'ֽon׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

בְּצֵ֥ל חֶשְׁבּ֛וֹן עָמְד֖וּ מִכֹּ֣חַ נָסִ֑ים כִּֽי־אֵ֞שׁ יָצָ֣א מֵחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן וְלֶֽהָבָה֙ מִבֵּ֣ין סִיח֔וֹן וַתֹּ֨אכַל֙ פְּאַ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב וְקָדְקֹ֖ד בְּנֵ֥י שָׁאֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): oy-leka֣ mo'a֔b 'aba֖d 'am-kּem֑oshsh kּiֽy-luqּech֤u bane֨yka֙ bּashshּe֔biy ubenote֖yka bּashshּibeyaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Woe be to you, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perishes: for your sons are taken captives, and your daughters captives.

אוֹי־לְךָ֣ מוֹאָ֔ב אָבַ֖ד עַם־כְּמ֑וֹשׁ כִּֽי־לֻקְּח֤וּ בָנֶ֨יךָ֙ בַּשֶּׁ֔בִי וּבְנֹתֶ֖יךָ בַּשִּׁבְיָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshabetּi֧y shshebut-mo'a֛b bּe'achari֥yt hayּami֖ym ne'um-yehva֑h 'ad-he֖nּah mishshepּa֥t mo'aֽb׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days," says the LORD. Thus far is the judgement of Moab.

וְשַׁבְתִּ֧י שְׁבוּת־מוֹאָ֛ב בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית הַיָּמִ֖ים נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה עַד־הֵ֖נָּה מִשְׁפַּ֥ט מוֹאָֽב׃ס
