Chapter 49

Phonetic (Hebrew): libene֣y 'amּ֗on kּo֚h 'ama֣r yehva֔h habani֥ym 'eyn֙ leyishsera'e֔l 'im-yore֖shsh 'e֣yn l֑o madּ֗u'a yara֤shsh malekּam֙ 'et-gּa֔d ve'amּ֖o bּe'ara֥yv yashshaֽb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Concerning the Ammonites, thus says the LORD; "Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? why then does their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?"

לִבְנֵ֣י עַמּ֗וֹן כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הֲבָנִ֥ים אֵין֙ לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִם־יוֹרֵ֖שׁ אֵ֣ין ל֑וֹ מַדּ֗וּעַ יָרַ֤שׁ מַלְכָּם֙ אֶת־גָּ֔ד וְעַמּ֖וֹ בְּעָרָ֥יו יָשָֽׁב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lake֡n hinּeh֩ yami֨ym bּa'i֜ym ne'um-yehva֗h ve֠hishshema'etּiy 'el-rabּa֨t bּeney-'amּ֜on tּeru'a֣t milechama֗h vehaֽyetah֙ lete֣l shshemama֔h ubenote֖yha bּa'e֣shsh tּitzּa֑tenah veyara֧shsh yishsera'e֛l 'et-yoreshsha֖yv 'ama֥r yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Therefore, behold, the days come," says the LORD, "that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir to them that were his heirs," says the LORD.

לָכֵ֡ן הִנֵּה֩ יָמִ֨ים בָּאִ֜ים נְאֻם־יְהוָ֗ה וְ֠הִשְׁמַעְתִּי אֶל־רַבַּ֨ת בְּנֵי־עַמּ֜וֹן תְּרוּעַ֣ת מִלְחָמָ֗ה וְהָֽיְתָה֙ לְתֵ֣ל שְׁמָמָ֔ה וּבְנֹתֶ֖יהָ בָּאֵ֣שׁ תִּצַּ֑תְנָה וְיָרַ֧שׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶת־יֹרְשָׁ֖יו אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): heyli֨yliy cheshshebּ֜on kּi֣y shshudּedah-'a֗y tze'aqenah֮ bּen֣ot rabּah֒ chago֣renah shsaqּi֔ym sepo֕denah vehiteshshota֖tenah bּagּeder֑ot kּi֤y malekּam֙ bּagּola֣h yele֔ke kּohana֥yv veshsara֖yv yachedּaֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, you daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together."

הֵילִ֨ילִי חֶשְׁבּ֜וֹן כִּ֣י שֻׁדְּדָה־עַ֗י צְעַקְנָה֮ בְּנ֣וֹת רַבָּה֒ חֲגֹ֣רְנָה שַׂקִּ֔ים סְפֹ֕דְנָה וְהִתְשׁוֹטַ֖טְנָה בַּגְּדֵר֑וֹת כִּ֤י מַלְכָּם֙ בַּגּוֹלָ֣ה יֵלֵ֔ךְ כֹּהֲנָ֥יו וְשָׂרָ֖יו יַחְדָּֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): mah-tּitehaֽleliy֙ bּaֽ'amaqi֔ym za֣b 'imeqe֔ke habּa֖t hashshּֽobeba֑h habּoֽtechah֙ bּe'o֣tzerote֔yha mi֖y yab֥o 'elaֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Wherefore gloriest you in the valleys, your flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, 'Who shall come to me?'"

מַה־תִּתְהַֽלְלִי֙ בָּֽעֲמָקִ֔ים זָ֣ב עִמְקֵ֔ךְ הַבַּ֖ת הַשּֽׁוֹבֵבָ֑ה הַבֹּֽטְחָה֙ בְּאֹ֣צְרֹתֶ֔יהָ מִ֖י יָב֥וֹא אֵלָֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hineniy֩ mebi֨y 'ala֜yike pּa֗chad ne'um-'adona֧y yehvi֛h tzeba'֖ot mikּal-sebiyba֑yike venidּachetּem֙ 'i֣yshsh lepana֔yv ve'e֥yn meqabּe֖tz lanּodeֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Behold, I will bring a fear upon you," says the Lord GOD of hosts, "from all those that be about you; and you shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wanders."

הִנְנִי֩ מֵבִ֨יא עָלַ֜יִךְ פַּ֗חַד נְאֻם־אֲדֹנָ֧י יְהוִ֛ה צְבָא֖וֹת מִכָּל־סְבִיבָ֑יִךְ וְנִדַּחְתֶּם֙ אִ֣ישׁ לְפָנָ֔יו וְאֵ֥ין מְקַבֵּ֖ץ לַנֹּדֵֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'acharey-ke֗n 'ashshi֛yb 'et-shsheb֥ut bּeneֽy-'amּ֖on ne'um-yehvaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon," says the LORD.

וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵ֗ן אָשִׁ֛יב אֶת־שְׁב֥וּת בְּנֵֽי־עַמּ֖וֹן נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): le'ed֗om kּo֤h 'amar֙ yehva֣h tzeba'֔ot ha'e֥yn '֛od chakema֖h bּeteyma֑n 'abeda֤h 'etzah֙ mibּani֔ym niserecha֖h chakemataֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Concerning Edom, thus says the LORD of hosts; "Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?"

לֶאֱד֗וֹם כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת הַאֵ֥ין ע֛וֹד חָכְמָ֖ה בְּתֵימָ֑ן אָבְדָ֤ה עֵצָה֙ מִבָּנִ֔ים נִסְרְחָ֖ה חָכְמָתָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nu֤su hapenu֙ he'emi֣yqu lashshe֔bet yoshshebe֖y dּeda֑n kּi֣y 'e֥yd 'eshsa֛v hebe֥'tiy 'ala֖yv 'e֥t pּeqadetּiֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Flee you, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him."

נֻ֤סוּ הָפְנוּ֙ הֶעְמִ֣יקוּ לָשֶׁ֔בֶת יֹשְׁבֵ֖י דְּדָ֑ן כִּ֣י אֵ֥יד עֵשָׂ֛ו הֵבֵ֥אתִי עָלָ֖יו עֵ֥ת פְּקַדְתִּֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): im-bּoֽtzeriym֙ bּa֣'u la֔ke lo֥ yashshe'i֖ru 'ֽolel֑ot 'im-gּanּabi֥ym bּalּa֖yelah hishshechi֥ytu dayּaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"If grapegatherers come to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough."

אִם־בֹּֽצְרִים֙ בָּ֣אוּ לָ֔ךְ לֹ֥א יַשְׁאִ֖רוּ עֽוֹלֵל֑וֹת אִם־גַּנָּבִ֥ים בַּלַּ֖יְלָה הִשְׁחִ֥יתוּ דַיָּֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiֽy-'ani֞y chashsa֣petּiy 'et-'eshsa֗v gּilּe֨ytiy֙ 'et-misetּara֔yv venechebּa֖h lo֣ yuka֑l shshudּa֥d zare'֛o ve'echa֥yv ushshekena֖yv ve'eyneֽnּu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brothers, and his neighbours, and he is not."

כִּֽי־אֲנִ֞י חָשַׂ֣פְתִּי אֶת־עֵשָׂ֗ו גִּלֵּ֨יתִי֙ אֶת־מִסְתָּרָ֔יו וְנֶחְבָּ֖ה לֹ֣א יוּכָ֑ל שֻׁדַּ֥ד זַרְע֛וֹ וְאֶחָ֥יו וּשְׁכֵנָ֖יו וְאֵינֶֽנּוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): azeba֥h yetome֖yka 'ani֣y 'achayּe֑h ve'alemenote֖yka 'ala֥y tּibetaֽchu׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"Leave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust in Me."

עָזְבָ֥ה יְתֹמֶ֖יךָ אֲנִ֣י אֲחַיֶּ֑ה וְאַלְמְנֹתֶ֖יךָ עָלַ֥י תִּבְטָֽחוּ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy-ko֣h ׀ 'ama֣r yehva֗h hi֠nּeh 'ashsher-'e֨yn mishshepּata֜m lishshetּ֤ot hakּos֙ shshat֣o yishshetּ֔u ve'atּa֣h h֔u naqo֖h tּinּaqe֑h lo֣ tinּaqe֔h kּi֥y shshato֖h tּishshetּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For thus says the LORD; "Behold, they whose judgement was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and are you he that shall altogether go unpunished? you shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink of it."

כִּי־כֹ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה הִ֠נֵּה אֲשֶׁר־אֵ֨ין מִשְׁפָּטָ֜ם לִשְׁתּ֤וֹת הַכּוֹס֙ שָׁת֣וֹ יִשְׁתּ֔וּ וְאַתָּ֣ה ה֔וּא נָקֹ֖ה תִּנָּקֶ֑ה לֹ֣א תִנָּקֶ֔ה כִּ֥י שָׁתֹ֖ה תִּשְׁתֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֣y bi֤y nishshebּa֨'etּiy֙ ne'um-yehva֔h kּiֽy-leshshamּa֧h lecherepּa֛h lecho֥reb veliqelala֖h tּiֽheye֣h batzera֑h vekal-'are֥yha tiheye֖ynah lechareb֥ot 'olaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"For I have sworn by Myself," says the LORD, "that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes."

כִּ֣י בִ֤י נִשְׁבַּ֨עְתִּי֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה כִּֽי־לְשַׁמָּ֧ה לְחֶרְפָּ֛ה לְחֹ֥רֶב וְלִקְלָלָ֖ה תִּֽהְיֶ֣ה בָצְרָ֑ה וְכָל־עָרֶ֥יהָ תִהְיֶ֖ינָה לְחָרְב֥וֹת עוֹלָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshemu'a֤h shshama֨'etּiy֙ me'e֣t yehva֔h vetzi֖yr bּagּoyi֣m shshal֑ucha hiֽteqabּetzu֙ ubo֣'u 'ale֔yha veq֖umu lamּilechamaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent to the heathen, saying, "Gather you together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle."

שְׁמוּעָ֤ה שָׁמַ֨עְתִּי֙ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה וְצִ֖יר בַּגּוֹיִ֣ם שָׁל֑וּחַ הִֽתְקַבְּצוּ֙ וּבֹ֣אוּ עָלֶ֔יהָ וְק֖וּמוּ לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiֽy-hinּe֥h qato֛n netatּi֖yka bּagּoyi֑m bּaz֖uy bּa'adaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"For, lo, I will make you small among the heathen, and despised among men."

כִּֽי־הִנֵּ֥ה קָטֹ֛ן נְתַתִּ֖יךָ בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם בָּז֖וּי בָּאָדָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tּiֽpelatzetּeka֞ hishshּi֤y 'otake֙ zed֣on libּe֔ka shshoֽkeniy֙ bּechageve֣y hasּe֔la tּopeshsi֖y mer֣om gּibe'a֑h kּiֽy-tagebּi֤yha kּanּe֨shsher֙ qinּe֔ka mishshּa֥m 'ֽoriydeka֖ ne'um-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Your terribleness has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, O you that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from thence," says the LORD.

תִּֽפְלַצְתְּךָ֞ הִשִּׁ֤יא אֹתָךְ֙ זְד֣וֹן לִבֶּ֔ךָ שֹֽׁכְנִי֙ בְּחַגְוֵ֣י הַסֶּ֔לַע תֹּפְשִׂ֖י מְר֣וֹם גִּבְעָ֑ה כִּֽי־תַגְבִּ֤יהַ כַּנֶּ֨שֶׁר֙ קִנֶּ֔ךָ מִשָּׁ֥ם אֽוֹרִידְךָ֖ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehayeta֥h 'ed֖om leshshamּa֑h kּo֚l 'obe֣r 'ale֔yha yishshּo֥m veyishshero֖q 'al-kּal-makּoteֽha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.

וְהָיְתָ֥ה אֱד֖וֹם לְשַׁמָּ֑ה כֹּ֚ל עֹבֵ֣ר עָלֶ֔יהָ יִשֹּׁ֥ם וְיִשְׁרֹ֖ק עַל־כָּל־מַכּוֹתֶֽהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּeֽmahepּeka֞t sedo֧m va'amora֛h ushshekene֖yha 'ama֣r yehva֑h loֽ'-yeshshe֥b shsham֙ 'i֔yshsh veloֽ'-yag֥ur bּa֖hּ bּen-'adaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, says the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.

כְּֽמַהְפֵּכַ֞ת סְדֹ֧ם וַעֲמֹרָ֛ה וּשְׁכֵנֶ֖יהָ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה לֹֽא־יֵשֵׁ֥ב שָׁם֙ אִ֔ישׁ וְלֹֽא־יָג֥וּר בָּ֖הּ בֶּן־אָדָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hi֠nּeh kּe'areye֞h ya'ale֨h migּe'֣on hayּaredּen֮ 'el-neve֣h 'eytan֒ kּiֽy-'aregּi֤y'ah 'ariytze֨nּu meֽ'ale֔yha umi֥y bach֖ur 'ele֣yha 'epeqo֑d kּi֣y mi֤y kam֨oniy֙ umi֣y yo'iyde֔nּiy umiy-ze֣h ro'e֔h 'ashshe֥r ya'amo֖d lepanaֽy׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like Me? and who will appoint Me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before Me?

הִ֠נֵּה כְּאַרְיֵ֞ה יַעֲלֶ֨ה מִגְּא֣וֹן הַיַּרְדֵּן֮ אֶל־נְוֵ֣ה אֵיתָן֒ כִּֽי־אַרְגִּ֤יעָה אֲרִיצֶ֨נּוּ מֵֽעָלֶ֔יהָ וּמִ֥י בָח֖וּר אֵלֶ֣יהָ אֶפְקֹ֑ד כִּ֣י מִ֤י כָמ֨וֹנִי֙ וּמִ֣י יֹעִידֶ֔נִּי וּמִי־זֶ֣ה רֹעֶ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַעֲמֹ֖ד לְפָנָֽי׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): lake֞n shshime'֣u 'atzat-yehva֗h 'ashshe֤r ya'atz֙ 'el-'ed֔om uma֨cheshshebota֔yv 'ashshe֥r chashsha֖b 'el-yoshshebe֣y teyma֑n 'im-lo֤ yisechabum֙ tze'iyre֣y hatzּo֔'n 'im-lo֥ yashshּi֛ym 'aleyhe֖m neveheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that He has taken against Edom; and His purposes, that He has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely He shall make their habitations desolate with them.

לָכֵ֞ן שִׁמְע֣וּ עֲצַת־יְהוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָעַץ֙ אֶל־אֱד֔וֹם וּמַ֨חְשְׁבוֹתָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָשַׁ֖ב אֶל־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י תֵימָ֑ן אִם־לֹ֤א יִסְחָבוּם֙ צְעִירֵ֣י הַצֹּ֔אן אִם־לֹ֥א יַשִּׁ֛ים עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם נְוֵהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): miqּ֣ol nipela֔m ra'ashsha֖h ha'a֑retz tze'aqa֕h bּeyam-s֖up nishshema֥ qolaֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red Sea.

מִקּ֣וֹל נִפְלָ֔ם רָעֲשָׁ֖ה הָאָ֑רֶץ צְעָקָ֕ה בְּיַם־ס֖וּף נִשְׁמַ֥ע קוֹלָֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hinּe֤h kanּe֨shsher֙ ya'ale֣h veyide'e֔h veyipero֥shs kּenapa֖yv 'al-bּatzera֑h veֽ֠hayah le֞b gּibּore֤y 'edom֙ bּayּ֣om hah֔u kּele֖b 'ishshּa֥h metzeraֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

הִנֵּ֤ה כַנֶּ֨שֶׁר֙ יַעֲלֶ֣ה וְיִדְאֶ֔ה וְיִפְרֹ֥שׂ כְּנָפָ֖יו עַל־בָּצְרָ֑ה וְֽ֠הָיָה לֵ֞ב גִּבּוֹרֵ֤י אֱדוֹם֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא כְּלֵ֖ב אִשָּׁ֥ה מְצֵרָֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ledamּe֗shseq bּ֤oshshaֽh chamat֙ ve'arepּa֔d kּiy-shshemu'a֥h ra'a֛h shshame'֖u namo֑gu bּayּa֣m dּe'aga֔h hashsheqe֖t lo֥ yukaֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Concerning Damascus. "Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet."

לְדַמֶּ֗שֶׂק בּ֤וֹשָֽׁה חֲמָת֙ וְאַרְפָּ֔ד כִּי־שְׁמֻעָ֥ה רָעָ֛ה שָׁמְע֖וּ נָמֹ֑גוּ בַּיָּ֣ם דְּאָגָ֔ה הַשְׁקֵ֖ט לֹ֥א יוּכָֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): rapeta֥h damּe֛shseq hipeneta֥h lan֖us vere֣tet ׀ hechezi֑yqah tzara֧h vachabali֛ym 'achaza֖tּah kּayּoledaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Damascus is waxed feeble, and turns herself to flee, and fear has seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.

רָפְתָ֥ה דַמֶּ֛שֶׂק הִפְנְתָ֥ה לָנ֖וּס וְרֶ֣טֶט ׀ הֶחֱזִ֑יקָה צָרָ֧ה וַחֲבָלִ֛ים אֲחָזַ֖תָּה כַּיּוֹלֵדָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): e֥yke loֽ'-'uzּeba֖h 'i֣yr thlh tּehilּa֑t qireya֖t meshsoshsiֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!

אֵ֥יךְ לֹֽא־עֻזְּבָ֖ה עִ֣יר תהלה תְּהִלָּ֑ת קִרְיַ֖ת מְשׂוֹשִֽׂי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lake֛n yipּel֥u bachure֖yha bּirechobote֑yha vekal-'aneshshe֨y hamּilechama֤h yidּa֨mּu֙ bּayּ֣om hah֔u ne'u֖m yehva֥h tzeba'ֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day," says the LORD of hosts.

לָכֵ֛ן יִפְּל֥וּ בַחוּרֶ֖יהָ בִּרְחֹבֹתֶ֑יהָ וְכָל־אַנְשֵׁ֨י הַמִּלְחָמָ֤ה יִדַּ֨מּוּ֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehitzּa֥tּiy 'e֖shsh bּechoma֣t dּamּa֑shseq ve'akela֖h 'aremen֥ot bּen-hadaֽd׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad."

וְהִצַּ֥תִּי אֵ֖שׁ בְּחוֹמַ֣ת דַּמָּ֑שֶׂק וְאָכְלָ֖ה אַרְמְנ֥וֹת בֶּן־הֲדָֽד׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): leqeda֣r ׀ uֽlemamelek֣ot chatz֗or 'ashshe֤r hikּah֙ nbvkdr'tzvr nebֽukadere'tzּa֣r meֽleke-bּabe֔l kּo֖h 'ama֣r yehva֑h q֚umu 'al֣u 'el-qeda֔r veshshaded֖u 'et-bּeney-qeֽdem׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus says the LORD; "Arise you, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east."

לְקֵדָ֣ר ׀ וּֽלְמַמְלְכ֣וֹת חָצ֗וֹר אֲשֶׁ֤ר הִכָּה֙ נבוכדראצור נְבֽוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֣ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֔ל כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה ק֚וּמוּ עֲל֣וּ אֶל־קֵדָ֔ר וְשָׁדְד֖וּ אֶת־בְּנֵי־קֶֽדֶם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): aholeyhe֤m vetzo'nam֙ yiqּa֔chu yeriy'oteyhe֧m vekal-kּeleyhe֛m ugemalּeyhe֖m yishse'֣u lahe֑m veqare'֧u 'aleyhe֛m mag֖or misּabiֽyb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry to them, "Fear is on every side."

אָהֳלֵיהֶ֤ם וְצֹאנָם֙ יִקָּ֔חוּ יְרִיעוֹתֵיהֶ֧ם וְכָל־כְּלֵיהֶ֛ם וּגְמַלֵּיהֶ֖ם יִשְׂא֣וּ לָהֶ֑ם וְקָרְא֧וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם מָג֖וֹר מִסָּבִֽיב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nusu֩ nּu֨du me'o֜d he'emi֧yqu lashshe֛bet yoshshebe֥y chatz֖or ne'um-yehva֑h kּiֽy-ya'a֨tz 'aleyke֜m nebukadere'tzּa֤r meֽleke-bּabel֙ 'etza֔h vechashsha֥b 'lyhm 'aleyke֖m machashshabaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O you inhabitants of Hazor," says the LORD; "for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you."

נֻסוּ֩ נֻּ֨דוּ מְאֹ֜ד הֶעְמִ֧יקוּ לָשֶׁ֛בֶת יֹשְׁבֵ֥י חָצ֖וֹר נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה כִּֽי־יָעַ֨ץ עֲלֵיכֶ֜ם נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֤ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶל֙ עֵצָ֔ה וְחָשַׁ֥ב עליהם עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם מַחֲשָׁבָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): q֣umu 'al֗u 'el-gּ֥oy shshele֛yv yoshshe֥b labe֖tach ne'um-yehva֑h lo'-delata֧yim veloֽ'-beri֛ycha l֖o bּada֥d yishshekּoֽnu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Arise, get you up to the wealthy nation, that dwells without care," says the LORD, "which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone."

ק֣וּמוּ עֲל֗וּ אֶל־גּ֥וֹי שְׁלֵ֛יו יוֹשֵׁ֥ב לָבֶ֖טַח נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה לֹא־דְלָתַ֧יִם וְלֹֽא־בְרִ֛יחַ ל֖וֹ בָּדָ֥ד יִשְׁכֹּֽנוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehay֨u gemalּeyhe֜m laba֗z vaham֤on miqeneyhem֙ leshshala֔l vezeriti֥ym lekal-r֖ucha qetzutze֣y pe'a֑h umikּal-'abara֛yv 'abi֥y 'et-'eyda֖m ne'um-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof," says the LORD.

וְהָי֨וּ גְמַלֵּיהֶ֜ם לָבַ֗ז וַהֲמ֤וֹן מִקְנֵיהֶם֙ לְשָׁלָ֔ל וְזֵרִתִ֥ים לְכָל־ר֖וּחַ קְצוּצֵ֣י פֵאָ֑ה וּמִכָּל־עֲבָרָ֛יו אָבִ֥יא אֶת־אֵידָ֖ם נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehayeta֨h chatz֜or lime'֥on tּanּi֛ym shshemama֖h 'ad-'ola֑m loֽ'-yeshshe֥b shsham֙ 'i֔yshsh veloֽ'-yag֥ur bּa֖hּ bּen-'adaֽm׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation forever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it."

וְהָיְתָ֨ה חָצ֜וֹר לִמְע֥וֹן תַּנִּ֛ים שְׁמָמָ֖ה עַד־עוֹלָ֑ם לֹֽא־יֵשֵׁ֥ב שָׁם֙ אִ֔ישׁ וְלֹֽא־יָג֥וּר בָּ֖הּ בֶּן־אָדָֽם׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ashshe֨r haya֧h debar-yehva֛h 'el-yiremeya֥hu hanּabi֖y 'el-'eyla֑m bּere'shshi֗yt malek֛ut tzideqiyּa֥h meֽleke-yehuda֖h le'moֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

אֲשֶׁ֨ר הָיָ֧ה דְבַר־יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־יִרְמְיָ֥הוּ הַנָּבִ֖יא אֶל־עֵילָ֑ם בְּרֵאשִׁ֗ית מַלְכ֛וּת צִדְקִיָּ֥ה מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֤h 'amar֙ yehva֣h tzeba'֔ot hineni֥y shshobe֖r 'et-qe֣shshet 'eyla֑m re'shshi֖yt gּeburataֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus says the LORD of hosts; "Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might."

כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת הִנְנִ֥י שֹׁבֵ֖ר אֶת־קֶ֣שֶׁת עֵילָ֑ם רֵאשִׁ֖ית גְּבוּרָתָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehebe'ti֨y 'el-'eyla֜m 'arebּa֣ ruch֗ot meֽ'arebּa'֙ qetz֣ot hashshּama֔yim veze֣riti֔ym leko֖l haruch֣ot ha'e֑lּeh veloֽ'-yiheye֣h hagּ֔oy 'ashshe֛r loֽ'-yab֥o shsha֖m nidּeche֥y 'vlm 'eylaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation Where the outcasts of Elam shall not come."

וְהֵבֵאתִ֨י אֶל־עֵילָ֜ם אַרְבַּ֣ע רוּח֗וֹת מֵֽאַרְבַּע֙ קְצ֣וֹת הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְזֵ֣רִתִ֔ים לְכֹ֖ל הָרֻח֣וֹת הָאֵ֑לֶּה וְלֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֣ה הַגּ֔וֹי אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא־יָב֥וֹא שָׁ֖ם נִדְּחֵ֥י עולם עֵילָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehachetּatּi֣y 'et-'e֠ylam lipene֨y 'oyebeyhe֜m velipene֣y ׀ mebaqeshshe֣y napeshsha֗m vehebe'ti֨y 'aleyhe֧m ׀ ra'a֛h 'et-char֥on 'apּi֖y ne'um-yehva֑h veshshilּachetּi֤y 'aֽchareyhem֙ 'et-hache֔reb 'a֥d kּalּoti֖y 'otaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even My fierce anger," says the LORD; "and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:"

וְהַחְתַּתִּ֣י אֶת־עֵ֠ילָם לִפְנֵ֨י אֹיְבֵיהֶ֜ם וְלִפְנֵ֣י ׀ מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י נַפְשָׁ֗ם וְהֵבֵאתִ֨י עֲלֵיהֶ֧ם ׀ רָעָ֛ה אֶת־חֲר֥וֹן אַפִּ֖י נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה וְשִׁלַּחְתִּ֤י אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם֙ אֶת־הַחֶ֔רֶב עַ֥ד כַּלּוֹתִ֖י אוֹתָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshsametּi֥y kise'i֖y bּe'eyla֑m veha'abadetּi֥y mishshּa֛m me֥leke veshsari֖ym ne'um-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will set My throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes," says the LORD.

וְשַׂמְתִּ֥י כִסְאִ֖י בְּעֵילָ֑ם וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֥י מִשָּׁ֛ם מֶ֥לֶךְ וְשָׂרִ֖ים נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaya֣h ׀ bּe'achari֣yt hayּami֗ym 'shvb 'ashshi֛yb 'et-shbyt shsheb֥ut 'eyla֖m ne'um-yehvaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam," says the LORD.

וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית הַיָּמִ֗ים אשוב אָשִׁ֛יב אֶת־שבית שְׁב֥וּת עֵילָ֖ם נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃ס
