Chapter 51

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֚h 'ama֣r yehva֔h hineniy֙ me'i֣yr 'al-bּabe֔l ve'el-yoshshebe֖y le֣b qama֑y r֖ucha mashshechiֽyt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus says the LORD; "Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against Me, a destroying wind;"

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנְנִי֙ מֵעִ֣יר עַל־בָּבֶ֔ל וְאֶל־יֹשְׁבֵ֖י לֵ֣ב קָמָ֑י ר֖וּחַ מַשְׁחִֽית׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshilּachetּi֨y lebabe֤l ׀ zariym֙ vezer֔uha viyboqeq֖u 'et-'aretza֑hּ kּiֽy-hay֥u 'ale֛yha misּabi֖yb bּey֥om ra'aֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And will send to Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about."

וְשִׁלַּחְתִּ֨י לְבָבֶ֤ל ׀ זָרִים֙ וְזֵר֔וּהָ וִיבֹקְק֖וּ אֶת־אַרְצָ֑הּ כִּֽי־הָי֥וּ עָלֶ֛יהָ מִסָּבִ֖יב בְּי֥וֹם רָעָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): eֽl-yidero֤ke ydrk hadּoreke֙ qashshetּ֔o ve'el-yite'a֖l bּesireyon֑o ve'aֽl-tּachemelu֙ 'el-bּa֣chure֔yha hachari֖ymu kּal-tzeba'aֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Against him that bends let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifts himself up in his brigandine: and spare you not her young men; destroy you utterly all her host."

אֶֽל־יִדְרֹ֤ךְ ידרך הַדֹּרֵךְ֙ קַשְׁתּ֔וֹ וְאֶל־יִתְעַ֖ל בְּסִרְיֹנ֑וֹ וְאַֽל־תַּחְמְלוּ֙ אֶל־בַּ֣חֻרֶ֔יהָ הַחֲרִ֖ימוּ כָּל־צְבָאָֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venapel֥u chalali֖ym bּe'e֣retz kּashsedּi֑ym umeduqּari֖ym bּechutzoteֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.

וְנָפְל֥וּ חֲלָלִ֖ים בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים וּמְדֻקָּרִ֖ים בְּחוּצוֹתֶֽיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֠y loֽ'-'alema֨n yishsera'e֤l viֽyhudah֙ meֽ'eloha֔yv meֽyehva֖h tzeba'֑ot kּi֤y 'aretzam֙ male'a֣h 'ashsha֔m miqּed֖oshsh yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For Israel has not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

כִּ֠י לֹֽא־אַלְמָ֨ן יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל וִֽיהוּדָה֙ מֵֽאֱלֹהָ֔יו מֵֽיְהוָ֖ה צְבָא֑וֹת כִּ֤י אַרְצָם֙ מָלְאָ֣ה אָשָׁ֔ם מִקְּד֖וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nu֣su ׀ mitּ֣oke bּabe֗l umalּetu֙ 'i֣yshsh napeshsh֔o 'al-tּidּa֖mּu bּa'avona֑hּ kּiy֩ 'e֨t neqama֥h hiy'֙ laֽyhva֔h gּem֕ul h֥u meshshalּe֖m laֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; He will render to her a recompense.

נֻ֣סוּ ׀ מִתּ֣וֹךְ בָּבֶ֗ל וּמַלְּטוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ נַפְשׁ֔וֹ אַל־תִּדַּ֖מּוּ בַּעֲוֺנָ֑הּ כִּי֩ עֵ֨ת נְקָמָ֥ה הִיא֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה גְּמ֕וּל ה֥וּא מְשַׁלֵּ֖ם לָֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּos-zaha֤b bּabel֙ bּeyad-yehva֔h meshshakּe֖ret kּal-ha'a֑retz miyּeynahּ֙ shshat֣u goyi֔m 'al-kּe֖n yiteholel֥u goyiֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Babylon has been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

כּוֹס־זָהָ֤ב בָּבֶל֙ בְּיַד־יְהוָ֔ה מְשַׁכֶּ֖רֶת כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ מִיֵּינָהּ֙ שָׁת֣וּ גוֹיִ֔ם עַל־כֵּ֖ן יִתְהֹלְל֥וּ גוֹיִֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): pּite'o֛m napela֥h babe֖l vatּishshּabe֑r heyli֣ylu 'ale֗yha qech֤u tzoriy֙ lemake'oba֔hּ 'ula֖y tּerapeֽ'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

פִּתְאֹ֛ם נָפְלָ֥ה בָבֶ֖ל וַתִּשָּׁבֵ֑ר הֵילִ֣ילוּ עָלֶ֗יהָ קְח֤וּ צֳרִי֙ לְמַכְאוֹבָ֔הּ אוּלַ֖י תֵּרָפֵֽא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): rp'nv ripּi֣ynu 'et-bּabel֙ velo֣ nirepּa֔tah 'izeb֕uha venele֖ke 'i֣yshsh le'aretz֑o kּiֽy-naga֤ 'el-hashshּama֨yim֙ mishshepּata֔hּ venishsּa֖ 'ad-shshechaqiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgement reaches to heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

רפאנו רִפִּ֣ינוּ אֶת־בָּבֶל֙ וְלֹ֣א נִרְפָּ֔תָה עִזְב֕וּהָ וְנֵלֵ֖ךְ אִ֣ישׁ לְאַרְצ֑וֹ כִּֽי־נָגַ֤ע אֶל־הַשָּׁמַ֨יִם֙ מִשְׁפָּטָ֔הּ וְנִשָּׂ֖א עַד־שְׁחָקִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hotzi֥y yehva֖h 'et-tzideqote֑ynu bּo֚'u unesapּera֣h betziyּ֔on 'eֽt-ma'ashse֖h yehva֥h 'eloheֽynu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD has brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

הוֹצִ֥יא יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־צִדְקֹתֵ֑ינוּ בֹּ֚אוּ וּנְסַפְּרָ֣ה בְצִיּ֔וֹן אֶֽת־מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): habe֣ru hachitzּiym֮ mile'֣u hashshּelatiym֒ he'i֣yr yehva֗h 'et-r֨ucha֙ maleke֣y mada֔y kּiֽy-'al-bּabe֥l mezimּat֖o lehashshechiyta֑hּ kּiֽy-niqema֤t yehvah֙ hi֔y niqema֖t heykalֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD has raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for His device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of His temple.

הָבֵ֣רוּ הַחִצִּים֮ מִלְא֣וּ הַשְּׁלָטִים֒ הֵעִ֣יר יְהוָ֗ה אֶת־ר֨וּחַ֙ מַלְכֵ֣י מָדַ֔י כִּֽי־עַל־בָּבֶ֥ל מְזִמָּת֖וֹ לְהַשְׁחִיתָ֑הּ כִּֽי־נִקְמַ֤ת יְהוָה֙ הִ֔יא נִקְמַ֖ת הֵיכָלֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): el-chomo֨t bּabe֜l shse'u-ne֗s hachazi֨yqu֙ hamּishshema֔r haqi֨ymu֙ shshoֽmeri֔ym haki֖ynu ha'oֽrebi֑ym kּi֚y gּam-zama֣m yehva֔h gּam-'ashsa֕h 'e֥t 'ashsher-dּibּe֖r 'el-yoshshebe֥y babeֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD has both devised and done that which He spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon.

אֶל־חוֹמֹ֨ת בָּבֶ֜ל שְׂאוּ־נֵ֗ס הַחֲזִ֨יקוּ֙ הַמִּשְׁמָ֔ר הָקִ֨ימוּ֙ שֹֽׁמְרִ֔ים הָכִ֖ינוּ הָאֹֽרְבִ֑ים כִּ֚י גַּם־זָמַ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה גַּם־עָשָׂ֕ה אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּ֖ר אֶל־יֹשְׁבֵ֥י בָבֶֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shknty shshokanetּe֙ 'al-ma֣yim rabּi֔ym rabּa֖t 'ֽotzaro֑t bּa֥ qitzּe֖ke 'amּa֥t bּitze'eֽke׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O you that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, your end is come, and the measure of your covetousness.

שכנתי שֹׁכַנְתְּ֙ עַל־מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֔ים רַבַּ֖ת אֽוֹצָרֹ֑ת בָּ֥א קִצֵּ֖ךְ אַמַּ֥ת בִּצְעֵֽךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nishshebּa֛ yehva֥h tzeba'֖ot bּenapeshsh֑o kּi֣y 'im-milּe'ti֤yke 'adam֙ kּayּe֔leq ve'an֥u 'ala֖yike heydaֽd׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD of hosts has sworn by Himself, saying, "Surely I will fill you with men, as with caterpillars; and they shall lift up a shout against you."

נִשְׁבַּ֛ע יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת בְּנַפְשׁ֑וֹ כִּ֣י אִם־מִלֵּאתִ֤יךְ אָדָם֙ כַּיֶּ֔לֶק וְעָנ֥וּ עָלַ֖יִךְ הֵידָֽד׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): oshse֥h 'e֨retz֙ bּekoch֔o meki֥yn tּebe֖l bּechakemat֑o ubitebunat֖o nata֥h shshamaֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and has stretched out the heaven by His understanding.

עֹשֵׂ֥ה אֶ֨רֶץ֙ בְּכֹח֔וֹ מֵכִ֥ין תֵּבֵ֖ל בְּחָכְמָת֑וֹ וּבִתְבוּנָת֖וֹ נָטָ֥ה שָׁמָֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): leq֨ol tּitּ֜o ham֥on ma֨yim֙ bּashshּama֔yim vayּa֥'al neshsi'i֖ym miqetzeh-'a֑retz bּeraqi֤ym lamּatar֙ 'ashsa֔h vayּo֥tze r֖ucha me'otzerotaֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)When He utters His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and He causes the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: He makes lightnings with rain, and brings forth the wind out of His treasures.

לְק֨וֹל תִּתּ֜וֹ הֲמ֥וֹן מַ֨יִם֙ בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיַּ֥עַל נְשִׂאִ֖ים מִקְצֵה־אָ֑רֶץ בְּרָקִ֤ים לַמָּטָר֙ עָשָׂ֔ה וַיֹּ֥צֵא ר֖וּחַ מֵאֹצְרֹתָֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nibe'a֤r kּal-'adam֙ midּa֔'at hobi֥yshsh kּal-tzore֖p mipּa֑sel kּi֛y shshe֥qer nisekּ֖o velo'-r֥ucha bּaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

נִבְעַ֤ר כָּל־אָדָם֙ מִדַּ֔עַת הֹבִ֥ישׁ כָּל־צֹרֵ֖ף מִפָּ֑סֶל כִּ֛י שֶׁ֥קֶר נִסְכּ֖וֹ וְלֹא־ר֥וּחַ בָּֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): he֣bel he֔mּah ma'ashse֖h tּa'etּu'i֑ym bּe'e֥t pּequdּata֖m yo'beֽdu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

הֶ֣בֶל הֵ֔מָּה מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה תַּעְתֻּעִ֑ים בְּעֵ֥ת פְּקֻדָּתָ֖ם יֹאבֵֽדוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): loֽ'-ke'e֜lּeh che֣leq ya'aq֗ob kּiֽy-yotze֤r hakּol֙ h֔u veshshe֖bet nachalat֑o yehva֥h tzeba'֖ot shshemֽo׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)The portion of Jacob is not like them; for He is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of His inheritance: the LORD of hosts is His name.

לֹֽא־כְאֵ֜לֶּה חֵ֣לֶק יַעֲק֗וֹב כִּֽי־יוֹצֵ֤ר הַכֹּל֙ ה֔וּא וְשֵׁ֖בֶט נַחֲלָת֑וֹ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת שְׁמֽוֹ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): mapּetz-'atּa֣h li֔y kּele֖y milechama֑h venipּatzetּi֤y beka֙ gּoyi֔m vehishshechatּi֥y beka֖ mamelakֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"You are My battle axe and weapons of war: for with you will I break in pieces the nations, and with you will I destroy kingdoms;"

מַפֵּץ־אַתָּ֣ה לִ֔י כְּלֵ֖י מִלְחָמָ֑ה וְנִפַּצְתִּ֤י בְךָ֙ גּוֹיִ֔ם וְהִשְׁחַתִּ֥י בְךָ֖ מַמְלָכֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venipּatzetּi֣y beka֔ s֖us veroֽkeb֑o venipּatzetּi֣y beka֔ re֖keb verokebֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And with you will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with you will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;"

וְנִפַּצְתִּ֣י בְךָ֔ ס֖וּס וְרֹֽכְב֑וֹ וְנִפַּצְתִּ֣י בְךָ֔ רֶ֖כֶב וְרֹכְבֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venipּatzetּi֤y beka֙ 'i֣yshsh ve'ishshּa֔h venipּatzetּi֥y beka֖ zaqe֣n vana֑'ar venipּatzetּi֣y beka֔ bּach֖ur ubetulaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"With you also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with you will I break in pieces old and young; and with you will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;"

וְנִפַּצְתִּ֤י בְךָ֙ אִ֣ישׁ וְאִשָּׁ֔ה וְנִפַּצְתִּ֥י בְךָ֖ זָקֵ֣ן וָנָ֑עַר וְנִפַּצְתִּ֣י בְךָ֔ בָּח֖וּר וּבְתוּלָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): venipּatzetּi֤y beka֙ ro'e֣h ve'eder֔o venipּatzetּi֥y beka֖ 'ikּa֣r vetzimedּ֑o venipּatzetּi֣y beka֔ pּach֖ot useganiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"I will also break in pieces with you the shepherd and his flock; and with you will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with you will I break in pieces captains and rulers."

וְנִפַּצְתִּ֤י בְךָ֙ רֹעֶ֣ה וְעֶדְר֔וֹ וְנִפַּצְתִּ֥י בְךָ֖ אִכָּ֣ר וְצִמְדּ֑וֹ וְנִפַּצְתִּ֣י בְךָ֔ פַּח֖וֹת וּסְגָנִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshilּametּi֨y lebabe֜l uleko֣l ׀ yoshshebe֣y kashsedּi֗ym 'e֧t kּal-ra'ata֛m 'ashsher-'ashs֥u betziyּ֖on le'eֽyneyke֑m ne'u֖m yehvaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will render to Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight," says the LORD.

וְשִׁלַּמְתִּ֨י לְבָבֶ֜ל וּלְכֹ֣ל ׀ יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י כַשְׂדִּ֗ים אֵ֧ת כָּל־רָעָתָ֛ם אֲשֶׁר־עָשׂ֥וּ בְצִיּ֖וֹן לְעֵֽינֵיכֶ֑ם נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): hineni֨y 'ele֜yka ha֤r hamּashshechiyt֙ ne'um-yehva֔h hamּashshechi֖yt 'et-kּal-ha'a֑retz venati֨ytiy 'et-yadi֜y 'ale֗yka vegilegּaletּi֨yka֙ min-hasּela'i֔ym unetatּi֖yka leha֥r shserepaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain," says the LORD, "which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out My hand upon you, and roll you down from the rocks, and will make you a burnt mountain."

הִנְנִ֨י אֵלֶ֜יךָ הַ֤ר הַמַּשְׁחִית֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה הַמַּשְׁחִ֖ית אֶת־כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְנָטִ֨יתִי אֶת־יָדִ֜י עָלֶ֗יךָ וְגִלְגַּלְתִּ֨יךָ֙ מִן־הַסְּלָעִ֔ים וּנְתַתִּ֖יךָ לְהַ֥ר שְׂרֵפָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veloֽ'-yiqech֤u mimּeka֙ 'e֣ben lepinּa֔h ve'e֖ben lemֽosad֑ot kּiֽy-shshimem֥ot 'ola֛m tּiֽheye֖h ne'um-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And they shall not take of you a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but you shall be desolate forever," says the LORD.

וְלֹֽא־יִקְח֤וּ מִמְּךָ֙ אֶ֣בֶן לְפִנָּ֔ה וְאֶ֖בֶן לְמֽוֹסָד֑וֹת כִּֽי־שִׁמְמ֥וֹת עוֹלָ֛ם תִּֽהְיֶ֖ה נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shse'u-ne֣s bּa'a֗retz tּiqe'֨u shshopa֤r bּagּoyim֙ qadּeshsh֤u 'ale֨yha֙ gּoyi֔m hashshemi֧y'u 'ale֛yha mamelek֥ot 'arara֖t minּi֣y ve'ashshekּena֑z pּiqed֤u 'ale֨yha֙ tipesa֔r haֽ'alu-s֖us kּeye֥leq samaֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Set you up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillars.

שְׂאוּ־נֵ֣ס בָּאָ֗רֶץ תִּקְע֨וּ שׁוֹפָ֤ר בַּגּוֹיִם֙ קַדְּשׁ֤וּ עָלֶ֨יהָ֙ גּוֹיִ֔ם הַשְׁמִ֧יעוּ עָלֶ֛יהָ מַמְלְכ֥וֹת אֲרָרַ֖ט מִנִּ֣י וְאַשְׁכְּנָ֑ז פִּקְד֤וּ עָלֶ֨יהָ֙ טִפְסָ֔ר הַֽעֲלוּ־ס֖וּס כְּיֶ֥לֶק סָמָֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): qadּeshsh֨u 'ale֤yha goyim֙ 'et-maleke֣y mada֔y 'et-pּachote֖yha ve'et-kּal-segane֑yha ve'e֖t kּal-'e֥retz memeshshaletּֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

קַדְּשׁ֨וּ עָלֶ֤יהָ גוֹיִם֙ אֶת־מַלְכֵ֣י מָדַ֔י אֶת־פַּחוֹתֶ֖יהָ וְאֶת־כָּל־סְגָנֶ֑יהָ וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־אֶ֥רֶץ מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vatּire'a֥shsh ha'a֖retz vatּacho֑l kּi֣y qa֤mah 'al-bּabel֙ macheshsheb֣ot yehva֔h lashs֞um 'et-'e֧retz bּabe֛l leshshamּa֖h me'e֥yn yoshsheֽb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

וַתִּרְעַ֥שׁ הָאָ֖רֶץ וַתָּחֹ֑ל כִּ֣י קָ֤מָה עַל־בָּבֶל֙ מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת יְהוָ֔ה לָשׂ֞וּם אֶת־אֶ֧רֶץ בָּבֶ֛ל לְשַׁמָּ֖ה מֵאֵ֥ין יוֹשֵֽׁב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): chadelu֩ gibּore֨y babe֜l lehilּache֗m yaֽshshebu֙ bּamּetzad֔ot nashsheta֥h geburata֖m hay֣u lenashshi֑ym hitzּi֥ytu mishshekּenote֖yha nishshebּer֥u beriycheֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their strongholds: their might has failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

חָדְלוּ֩ גִבּוֹרֵ֨י בָבֶ֜ל לְהִלָּחֵ֗ם יָֽשְׁבוּ֙ בַּמְּצָד֔וֹת נָשְׁתָ֥ה גְבוּרָתָ֖ם הָי֣וּ לְנָשִׁ֑ים הִצִּ֥יתוּ מִשְׁכְּנֹתֶ֖יהָ נִשְׁבְּר֥וּ בְרִיחֶֽיהָ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,

רָ֤ץ לִקְרַאת־רָץ֙ יָר֔וּץ וּמַגִּ֖יד לִקְרַ֣את מַגִּ֑יד לְהַגִּיד֙ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ בָּבֶ֔ל כִּֽי־נִלְכְּדָ֥ה עִיר֖וֹ מִקָּצֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehamּa'ebּar֣ot nitepּa֔shsu ve'et-ha'agamּi֖ym shsarep֣u ba'e֑shsh ve'aneshshe֥y hamּilechama֖h nibehaֽlu׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

וְהַמַּעְבָּר֣וֹת נִתְפָּ֔שׂוּ וְאֶת־הָאֲגַמִּ֖ים שָׂרְפ֣וּ בָאֵ֑שׁ וְאַנְשֵׁ֥י הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה נִבְהָֽלוּ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy֩ ko֨h 'ama֜r yehva֤h tzeba'ot֙ 'elohe֣y yishsera'e֔l bּat-bּabe֕l kּego֖ren 'e֣t hideriyka֑hּ '֣od me'a֔t uba֥'ah 'eֽt-haqּatzi֖yr laֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come."

כִּי֩ כֹ֨ה אָמַ֜ר יְהוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בַּת־בָּבֶ֕ל כְּגֹ֖רֶן עֵ֣ת הִדְרִיכָ֑הּ ע֣וֹד מְעַ֔ט וּבָ֥אָה עֵֽת־הַקָּצִ֖יר לָֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): klnv 'akala֣niy hmmnv hamama֗niy nebukadere'tzּar֮ me֣leke bּabel֒ htzygnv hitzּiyga֨niy֙ kּeli֣y ri֔yq bl'nv bּela'a֨niy֙ kּatּanּi֔yn milּa֥ kereshs֖o meֽ'adana֑y hdychnv hediychaֽniy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel, he has swallowed me up like a dragon, he has filled his belly with my delicates, he has cast me out."

אכלנו אֲכָלַ֣נִי הממנו הֲמָמַ֗נִי נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר֮ מֶ֣לֶךְ בָּבֶל֒ הציגנו הִצִּיגַ֨נִי֙ כְּלִ֣י רִ֔יק בלענו בְּלָעַ֨נִי֙ כַּתַּנִּ֔ין מִלָּ֥א כְרֵשׂ֖וֹ מֵֽעֲדָנָ֑י הדיחנו הֱדִיחָֽנִי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): chamasi֤y ushshe'eriy֙ 'al-bּabe֔l tּo'ma֖r yoshshe֣bet tziyּ֑on vedamiy֙ 'el-yoshshebe֣y kashsedּi֔ym tּo'ma֖r yerushshalaiֽm׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon," shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and "My blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea," shall Jerusalem say.

חֲמָסִ֤י וּשְׁאֵרִי֙ עַל־בָּבֶ֔ל תֹּאמַ֖ר יֹשֶׁ֣בֶת צִיּ֑וֹן וְדָמִי֙ אֶל־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י כַשְׂדִּ֔ים תֹּאמַ֖ר יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): lake֗n kּo֚h 'ama֣r yehva֔h hineniy-rab֙ 'et-riybe֔ke veniqּametּi֖y 'et-niqemate֑ke vehacharabetּiy֙ 'et-yamּa֔hּ vehobashshetּi֖y 'et-meqoraֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore thus says the LORD; "Behold, I will plead your cause, and take vengeance for you; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry."

לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנְנִי־רָב֙ אֶת־רִיבֵ֔ךְ וְנִקַּמְתִּ֖י אֶת־נִקְמָתֵ֑ךְ וְהַחֲרַבְתִּי֙ אֶת־יַמָּ֔הּ וְהֹבַשְׁתִּ֖י אֶת־מְקוֹרָֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehayetah֩ babe֨l ׀ legalּi֧ym ׀ me'on-tּanּi֛ym shshamּa֥h ushshereqa֖h me'e֥yn yoshsheֽb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant."

וְהָיְתָה֩ בָבֶ֨ל ׀ לְגַלִּ֧ים ׀ מְעוֹן־תַּנִּ֛ים שַׁמָּ֥ה וּשְׁרֵקָ֖ה מֵאֵ֥ין יוֹשֵֽׁב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yachedּa֖v kּakּepiri֣ym yishshe'a֑gu na'ar֖u kּegore֥y 'arayֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions' whelps.

יַחְדָּ֖ו כַּכְּפִרִ֣ים יִשְׁאָ֑גוּ נָעֲר֖וּ כְּגוֹרֵ֥י אֲרָיֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּechumּa֞m 'ashshi֣yt 'et-mishshetּeyhe֗m vehishshekּaretּiym֙ lema֣'an ya'alo֔zu veyashshen֥u shshenat-'ola֖m velo֣ yaqi֑ytzu ne'u֖m yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake," says the LORD.

בְּחֻמָּ֞ם אָשִׁ֣ית אֶת־מִשְׁתֵּיהֶ֗ם וְהִשְׁכַּרְתִּים֙ לְמַ֣עַן יַעֲלֹ֔זוּ וְיָשְׁנ֥וּ שְׁנַת־עוֹלָ֖ם וְלֹ֣א יָקִ֑יצוּ נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ֽoriyde֖m kּekari֣ym liteb֑ocha kּe'eyli֖ym 'im-'atּudiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

אֽוֹרִידֵ֖ם כְּכָרִ֣ים לִטְב֑וֹחַ כְּאֵילִ֖ים עִם־עַתּוּדִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): e֚yke nilekּeda֣h shsheshsha֔ke vatּitּape֖shs tּehilּa֣t kּal-ha'a֑retz 'e֣yke hayeta֧h leshshamּa֛h bּabe֖l bּagּoyiֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!

אֵ֚יךְ נִלְכְּדָ֣ה שֵׁשַׁ֔ךְ וַתִּתָּפֵ֖שׂ תְּהִלַּ֣ת כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ אֵ֣יךְ הָיְתָ֧ה לְשַׁמָּ֛ה בָּבֶ֖ל בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ala֥h 'al-bּabe֖l hayּa֑m bּaham֥on gּalּa֖yv nikesaֽtah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

עָלָ֥ה עַל־בָּבֶ֖ל הַיָּ֑ם בַּהֲמ֥וֹן גַּלָּ֖יו נִכְסָֽתָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hay֤u 'are֨yha֙ leshshamּa֔h 'e֖retz tziyּa֣h va'araba֑h 'e֗retz loֽ'-yeshshe֤b bּahen֙ kּal-'i֔yshsh veloֽ'-ya'abo֥r bּahe֖n bּen-'adaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwells, neither does any son of man pass thereby.

הָי֤וּ עָרֶ֨יהָ֙ לְשַׁמָּ֔ה אֶ֖רֶץ צִיָּ֣ה וַעֲרָבָ֑ה אֶ֗רֶץ לֹֽא־יֵשֵׁ֤ב בָּהֵן֙ כָּל־אִ֔ישׁ וְלֹֽא־יַעֲבֹ֥ר בָּהֵ֖ן בֶּן־אָדָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): upaqadetּi֨y 'al-bּe֜l bּebabe֗l vehotze'ti֤y 'et-bּile'o֙ mipּi֔yv veloֽ'-yinehar֥u 'ela֛yv '֖od gּoyi֑m gּam-choma֥t bּabe֖l napaֽlah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together anymore to him: yes, the wall of Babylon shall fall."

וּפָקַדְתִּ֨י עַל־בֵּ֜ל בְּבָבֶ֗ל וְהֹצֵאתִ֤י אֶת־בִּלְעוֹ֙ מִפִּ֔יו וְלֹֽא־יִנְהֲר֥וּ אֵלָ֛יו ע֖וֹד גּוֹיִ֑ם גַּם־חוֹמַ֥ת בָּבֶ֖ל נָפָֽלָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tze'֤u mitּokahּ֙ 'amּi֔y umalּet֖u 'i֣yshsh 'et-napeshsh֑o mechar֖on 'ap-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"My people, go you out of the midst of her, and deliver you every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD."

צְא֤וּ מִתּוֹכָהּ֙ עַמִּ֔י וּמַלְּט֖וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־נַפְשׁ֑וֹ מֵחֲר֖וֹן אַף־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): upen-yera֤ke lebabekem֙ vetiֽyre'֔u bּashshּemu'a֖h hanּishshema֣'at bּa'a֑retz uba֧ bashshּana֣h hashshּemu'a֗h ve'achara֤yv bּashshּanah֙ hashshּemu'a֔h vechama֣s bּa'a֔retz umoshshe֖l 'al-moshsheֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And lest your heart faint, and you fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler."

וּפֶן־יֵרַ֤ךְ לְבַבְכֶם֙ וְתִֽירְא֔וּ בַּשְּׁמוּעָ֖ה הַנִּשְׁמַ֣עַת בָּאָ֑רֶץ וּבָ֧א בַשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשְּׁמוּעָ֗ה וְאַחֲרָ֤יו בַּשָּׁנָה֙ הַשְּׁמוּעָ֔ה וְחָמָ֣ס בָּאָ֔רֶץ וּמֹשֵׁ֖ל עַל־מֹשֵֽׁל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): laken֙ hinּe֣h yami֣ym bּa'i֔ym upaqadetּiy֙ 'al-pּesiyle֣y babe֔l vekal-'aretza֖hּ tּeb֑oshsh vekal-chalale֖yha yipּel֥u betokaֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgement upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her."

לָכֵן֙ הִנֵּ֣ה יָמִ֣ים בָּאִ֔ים וּפָקַדְתִּי֙ עַל־פְּסִילֵ֣י בָבֶ֔ל וְכָל־אַרְצָ֖הּ תֵּב֑וֹשׁ וְכָל־חֲלָלֶ֖יהָ יִפְּל֥וּ בְתוֹכָֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): verinּen֤u 'al-bּabel֙ shshama֣yim va'a֔retz veko֖l 'ashshe֣r bּahe֑m kּi֧y mitzּap֛on yabo'-la֥hּ hashshּodedi֖ym ne'um-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come to her from the north," says the LORD.

וְרִנְּנ֤וּ עַל־בָּבֶל֙ שָׁמַ֣יִם וָאָ֔רֶץ וְכֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּהֶ֑ם כִּ֧י מִצָּפ֛וֹן יָבוֹא־לָ֥הּ הַשּׁוֹדְדִ֖ים נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): gּam-bּabe֕l linepּo֖l chaֽlele֣y yishsera'e֑l gּam-lebabe֥l napel֖u chaֽlele֥y kal-ha'aֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.

גַּם־בָּבֶ֕ל לִנְפֹּ֖ל חַֽלְלֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל גַּם־לְבָבֶ֥ל נָפְל֖וּ חַֽלְלֵ֥י כָל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): pּeleti֣ym meche֔reb hilek֖u 'aֽl-tּa'amo֑du ziker֤u meֽrachoq֙ 'et-yehva֔h viyrֽushshala֖im tּa'ale֥h 'al-lebabekeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

פְּלֵטִ֣ים מֵחֶ֔רֶב הִלְכ֖וּ אַֽל־תַּעֲמֹ֑דוּ זִכְר֤וּ מֵֽרָחוֹק֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה וִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם תַּעֲלֶ֥ה עַל־לְבַבְכֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּo֚shshenu kּiֽy-shshama֣'enu cherepּa֔h kּisּeta֥h kelimּa֖h pּane֑ynu kּi֚y bּa֣'u zari֔ym 'aֽl-miqedּeshshe֖y bּe֥yt yehvaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame has covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD's house."

בֹּ֚שְׁנוּ כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֣עְנוּ חֶרְפָּ֔ה כִּסְּתָ֥ה כְלִמָּ֖ה פָּנֵ֑ינוּ כִּ֚י בָּ֣אוּ זָרִ֔ים עַֽל־מִקְדְּשֵׁ֖י בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): lake֞n hinּeֽh-yami֤ym bּa'iym֙ ne'um-yehva֔h upaqadetּi֖y 'al-pּesiyle֑yha ubekal-'aretza֖hּ ye'eno֥q chalaֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Wherefore, behold, the days come," says the LORD, "that I will do judgement upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan."

לָכֵ֞ן הִנֵּֽה־יָמִ֤ים בָּאִים֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה וּפָקַדְתִּ֖י עַל־פְּסִילֶ֑יהָ וּבְכָל־אַרְצָ֖הּ יֶאֱנֹ֥ק חָלָֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiֽy-ta'ale֤h babel֙ hashshּama֔yim veki֥y tebatzּe֖r mer֣om 'uzּa֑hּ me'itּi֗y yabo֧'u shshodedi֛ym la֖hּ ne'um-yehvaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from Me shall spoilers come to her," says the LORD.

כִּֽי־תַעֲלֶ֤ה בָבֶל֙ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְכִ֥י תְבַצֵּ֖ר מְר֣וֹם עֻזָּ֑הּ מֵאִתִּ֗י יָבֹ֧אוּ שֹׁדְדִ֛ים לָ֖הּ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): q֥ol ze'aqa֖h mibּabe֑l veshshe֥ber gּad֖ol me'e֥retz kּashsedּiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)A sound of a cry comes from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:

ק֥וֹל זְעָקָ֖ה מִבָּבֶ֑ל וְשֶׁ֥בֶר גָּד֖וֹל מֵאֶ֥רֶץ כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiֽy-shshode֤d yehvah֙ 'et-bּabe֔l ve'ibּa֥d mimּe֖nּah q֣ol gּad֑ol veham֤u galּeyhem֙ kּema֣yim rabּi֔ym nitּa֥n shshe'֖on qolaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Because the LORD has spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

כִּֽי־שֹׁדֵ֤ד יְהוָה֙ אֶת־בָּבֶ֔ל וְאִבַּ֥ד מִמֶּ֖נָּה ק֣וֹל גָּד֑וֹל וְהָמ֤וּ גַלֵּיהֶם֙ כְּמַ֣יִם רַבִּ֔ים נִתַּ֥ן שְׁא֖וֹן קוֹלָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy֩ ba֨ 'ale֤yha 'al-bּabel֙ shshode֔d venilekּedu֙ gּibּore֔yha chitּeta֖h qashshּetota֑m kּi֣y 'e֧l gּemul֛ot yehva֖h shshalּe֥m yeshshalּeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompenses shall surely requite.

כִּי֩ בָ֨א עָלֶ֤יהָ עַל־בָּבֶל֙ שׁוֹדֵ֔ד וְנִלְכְּדוּ֙ גִּבּוֹרֶ֔יהָ חִתְּתָ֖ה קַשְּׁתוֹתָ֑ם כִּ֣י אֵ֧ל גְּמֻל֛וֹת יְהוָ֖ה שַׁלֵּ֥ם יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve֠hishshekּaretּiy shsare֨yha vachakame֜yha pּachote֤yha usegane֨yha֙ vegibּore֔yha veyashshen֥u shshenat-'ola֖m velo֣ yaqi֑ytzu ne'u֨m-hamּe֔leke yehva֥h tzeba'֖ot shshemֽo׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake," says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

וְ֠הִשְׁכַּרְתִּי שָׂרֶ֨יהָ וַחֲכָמֶ֜יהָ פַּחוֹתֶ֤יהָ וּסְגָנֶ֨יהָ֙ וְגִבּוֹרֶ֔יהָ וְיָשְׁנ֥וּ שְׁנַת־עוֹלָ֖ם וְלֹ֣א יָקִ֑יצוּ נְאֻ֨ם־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת שְׁמֽוֹ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּoֽh-'ama֞r yehva֣h tzeba'֗ot cho֠mot bּabe֤l haֽrechabah֙ 'are'e֣r tּite'are'a֔r ushshe'are֥yha hagּebohi֖ym bּa'e֣shsh yitzּa֑tּu veyiֽge'֨u 'amּi֧ym bּedey-ri֛yq ule'umּi֥ym bּedey-'e֖shsh veya'eֽpu׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus says the LORD of hosts; "The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary."

כֹּֽה־אָמַ֞ר יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת חֹ֠מוֹת בָּבֶ֤ל הָֽרְחָבָה֙ עַרְעֵ֣ר תִּתְעַרְעָ֔ר וּשְׁעָרֶ֥יהָ הַגְּבֹהִ֖ים בָּאֵ֣שׁ יִצַּ֑תּוּ וְיִֽגְע֨וּ עַמִּ֧ים בְּדֵי־רִ֛יק וּלְאֻמִּ֥ים בְּדֵי־אֵ֖שׁ וְיָעֵֽפוּ׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): hadּaba֞r 'ashsher-tziua֣h ׀ yiremeya֣hu hanּabi֗y 'et-shseraya֣h ben-neriyּah֮ bּen-macheseyah֒ bּeleketּ֞o 'et-tzideqiyּa֤hu meֽleke-yehudah֙ bּabe֔l bּishshena֥t harebi'i֖yt lemalek֑o ushseraya֖h shsa֥r menuchaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.

הַדָּבָ֞ר אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֣ה ׀ יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ הַנָּבִ֗יא אֶת־שְׂרָיָ֣ה בֶן־נֵרִיָּה֮ בֶּן־מַחְסֵיָה֒ בְּלֶכְתּ֞וֹ אֶת־צִדְקִיָּ֤הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה֙ בָּבֶ֔ל בִּשְׁנַ֥ת הָרְבִעִ֖ית לְמָלְכ֑וֹ וּשְׂרָיָ֖ה שַׂ֥ר מְנוּחָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiketּo֣b yiremeya֗hu 'e֧t kּal-hara'a֛h 'ashsher-tּab֥o 'el-bּabe֖l 'el-se֣per 'echa֑d 'e֚t kּal-hadּebari֣ym ha'e֔lּeh hakּetubi֖ym 'el-bּabeֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.

וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב יִרְמְיָ֗הוּ אֵ֧ת כָּל־הָרָעָ֛ה אֲשֶׁר־תָּב֥וֹא אֶל־בָּבֶ֖ל אֶל־סֵ֣פֶר אֶחָ֑ד אֵ֚ת כָּל־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה הַכְּתֻבִ֖ים אֶל־בָּבֶֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֥'mer yiremeya֖hu 'el-shseraya֑h kּebo'aka֣ babe֔l veֽra'i֔yta veֽqara֔'ta 'e֥t kּal-hadּebari֖ym ha'eֽlּeh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, "When you comest to Babylon, and shall see, and shall read all these words;"

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ אֶל־שְׂרָיָ֑ה כְּבֹאֲךָ֣ בָבֶ֔ל וְֽרָאִ֔יתָ וְֽקָרָ֔אתָ אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'amaretּa֗ yehvah֙ 'atּa֨h dibּa֜retּa 'el-hamּaq֤om hazּeh֙ lehakeriyt֔o lebiletּi֤y heyֽot-bּo֙ yoshshe֔b leme'ada֖m ve'ad-bּehema֑h kּiֽy-shshimem֥ot 'ola֖m tּiֽheyeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Then shall you say, 'O LORD, You hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate forever.'"

וְאָמַרְתָּ֗ יְהוָה֙ אַתָּ֨ה דִבַּ֜רְתָּ אֶל־הַמָּק֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ לְהַכְרִית֔וֹ לְבִלְתִּ֤י הֱיֽוֹת־בּוֹ֙ יוֹשֵׁ֔ב לְמֵאָדָ֖ם וְעַד־בְּהֵמָ֑ה כִּֽי־שִׁמְמ֥וֹת עוֹלָ֖ם תִּֽהְיֶֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehayah֙ kּekalּo֣teka֔ liqero֖ 'et-hasּe֣per hazּe֑h tּiqeshsho֤r 'alayv֙ 'e֔ben vehishshelaketּ֖o 'el-tּ֥oke pּeraֽt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"And it shall be, when you hast made an end of reading this book, that you shall bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:"

וְהָיָה֙ כְּכַלֹּ֣תְךָ֔ לִקְרֹ֖א אֶת־הַסֵּ֣פֶר הַזֶּ֑ה תִּקְשֹׁ֤ר עָלָיו֙ אֶ֔בֶן וְהִשְׁלַכְתּ֖וֹ אֶל־תּ֥וֹךְ פְּרָֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'amaretּa֗ kּa֠kah tּishsheqa֨ bּabe֤l veloֽ'-taqum֙ mipּene֣y hara'a֗h 'ashshe֧r 'anoki֛y mebi֥y 'ale֖yha veya'e֑pu 'ad-he֖nּah dּibere֥y yiremeyaֽhu׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)And you shall say, "'Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary.'" Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

וְאָמַרְתָּ֗ כָּ֠כָה תִּשְׁקַ֨ע בָּבֶ֤ל וְלֹֽא־תָקוּם֙ מִפְּנֵ֣י הָרָעָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר אָנֹכִ֛י מֵבִ֥יא עָלֶ֖יהָ וְיָעֵ֑פוּ עַד־הֵ֖נָּה דִּבְרֵ֥י יִרְמְיָֽהוּ׃ס
