Chapter 14
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD said to Moses,

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

2
Phonetic (Hebrew): zo֤'t tּiֽheyeh֙ tּora֣t hamּetzora֔ bּey֖om tahorat֑o vehuba֖ 'el-hakּoheֽn׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"These are the regulations for any ceremonially unclean person at the time of their cleansing, when they are brought to the priest:

זֹ֤את תִּֽהְיֶה֙ תּוֹרַ֣ת הַמְּצֹרָ֔ע בְּי֖וֹם טָהֳרָת֑וֹ וְהוּבָ֖א אֶל־הַכֹּהֵֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veyatza'֙ hakּohe֔n 'el-mich֖utz laֽmּachane֑h vera'ah֙ hakּohe֔n vehinּe֛h nirepּa֥ neֽga'-hatzּara֖'at min-hatzּarֽu'a׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest is to go outside the camp and examine them. If they have been healed of their defiling skin disease,

וְיָצָא֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן אֶל־מִח֖וּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה וְרָאָה֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְהִנֵּ֛ה נִרְפָּ֥א נֶֽגַע־הַצָּרַ֖עַת מִן־הַצָּרֽוּעַ׃

4
Phonetic (Hebrew): vetziuah֙ hakּohe֔n velaqa֧ch lamּitּahe֛r shshetּeֽy-tzipּori֥ym chayּ֖ot tehor֑ot ve'e֣tz 'e֔rez ushsheni֥y tola֖'at ve'ezoֽb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the priest shall order that two live clean birds and some cedar wood, scarlet yarn and hyssop be brought for the person to be cleansed.

וְצִוָּה֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְלָקַ֧ח לַמִּטַּהֵ֛ר שְׁתֵּֽי־צִפֳּרִ֥ים חַיּ֖וֹת טְהֹר֑וֹת וְעֵ֣ץ אֶ֔רֶז וּשְׁנִ֥י תוֹלַ֖עַת וְאֵזֹֽב׃

5
Phonetic (Hebrew): vetziuah֙ hakּohe֔n veshshacha֖t 'et-hatzּipּ֣or ha'echa֑t 'el-kּeliy-che֖reshs 'al-ma֥yim chayּiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the priest shall order that one of the birds be slaughtered over fresh water in a clay pot.

וְצִוָּה֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְשָׁחַ֖ט אֶת־הַצִּפּ֣וֹר הָאֶחָ֑ת אֶל־כְּלִי־חֶ֖רֶשׂ עַל־מַ֥יִם חַיִּֽים׃

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): et-hatzּipּo֤r haֽchayּah֙ yiqּa֣ch 'ota֔hּ ve'et-'e֥tz ha'e֛rez ve'et-shsheni֥y hatּola֖'at ve'et-ha'ezo֑b vetaba֨l 'ota֜m ve'e֣t ׀ hatzּipּo֣r hֽachayּa֗h bּedam֙ hatzּipּo֣r hashshּechuta֔h 'a֖l hamּa֥yim hֽachayּiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He is then to take the live bird and dip it, together with the cedar wood, the scarlet yarn and the hyssop, into the blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water.

אֶת־הַצִּפֹּ֤ר הַֽחַיָּה֙ יִקַּ֣ח אֹתָ֔הּ וְאֶת־עֵ֥ץ הָאֶ֛רֶז וְאֶת־שְׁנִ֥י הַתּוֹלַ֖עַת וְאֶת־הָאֵזֹ֑ב וְטָבַ֨ל אוֹתָ֜ם וְאֵ֣ת ׀ הַצִּפֹּ֣ר הַֽחַיָּ֗ה בְּדַם֙ הַצִּפֹּ֣ר הַשְּׁחֻטָ֔ה עַ֖ל הַמַּ֥יִם הַֽחַיִּֽים׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehizּa֗h 'a֧l hamּitּahe֛r min-hatzּara֖'at shshe֣ba pּe'ami֑ym veti֣har֔o veshshilּa֛ch 'et-hatzּipּo֥r haֽchayּa֖h 'al-pּene֥y hashsּadeֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Seven times he shall sprinkle the one to be cleansed of the defiling disease and then pronounce them clean. After that, he is to release the live bird in the open fields.

וְהִזָּ֗ה עַ֧ל הַמִּטַּהֵ֛ר מִן־הַצָּרַ֖עַת שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֑ים וְטִ֣הֲר֔וֹ וְשִׁלַּ֛ח אֶת־הַצִּפֹּ֥ר הַֽחַיָּ֖ה עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): vekibּes֩ hamּitּahe֨r 'et-bּegada֜yv vegilּa֣ch 'et-kּal-shse'ar֗o veracha֤tz bּamּa֨yim֙ vetahe֔r ve'acha֖r yab֣o 'el-haֽmּachane֑h veyashsha֛b mich֥utz le'ahol֖o shshibe'a֥t yamiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"The person to be cleansed must wash their clothes, shave off all their hair and bathe with water; then they will be ceremonially clean. After this they may come into the camp, but they must stay outside their tent for seven days.

וְכִבֶּס֩ הַמִּטַּהֵ֨ר אֶת־בְּגָדָ֜יו וְגִלַּ֣ח אֶת־כָּל־שְׂעָר֗וֹ וְרָחַ֤ץ בַּמַּ֨יִם֙ וְטָהֵ֔ר וְאַחַ֖ר יָב֣וֹא אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה וְיָשַׁ֛ב מִח֥וּץ לְאָהֳל֖וֹ שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehayah֩ bayּ֨om hashshּebiy'i֜y yegalּa֣ch 'et-kּal-shse'ar֗o 'et-ro'shsh֤o ve'et-zeqano֙ ve'et֙ gּabּo֣t 'eyna֔yv ve'et-kּal-shse'ar֖o yegalּe֑cha vekibּe֣s 'et-bּegada֗yv veracha֧tz 'et-bּeshsar֛o bּamּa֖yim vetaheֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)On the seventh day they must shave off all their hair; they must shave their head, their beard, their eyebrows and the rest of their hair. They must wash their clothes and bathe themselves with water, and they will be clean.

וְהָיָה֩ בַיּ֨וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֜י יְגַלַּ֣ח אֶת־כָּל־שְׂעָר֗וֹ אֶת־רֹאשׁ֤וֹ וְאֶת־זְקָנוֹ֙ וְאֵת֙ גַּבֹּ֣ת עֵינָ֔יו וְאֶת־כָּל־שְׂעָר֖וֹ יְגַלֵּ֑חַ וְכִבֶּ֣ס אֶת־בְּגָדָ֗יו וְרָחַ֧ץ אֶת־בְּשָׂר֛וֹ בַּמַּ֖יִם וְטָהֵֽר׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): ubayּ֣om hashshּemiyni֗y yiqּa֤ch shsheneֽy-kebashsiym֙ tּemiymi֔ym vekabeshsa֥h 'acha֛t bּat-shshenata֖hּ tּemiyma֑h ushsheloshsha֣h 'eshseroni֗ym so֤let minechah֙ bּelula֣h bashshּe֔men velo֥g 'echa֖d shshaֽmen׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"On the eighth day they must bring two male lambs and one ewe lamb a year old, each without defect, along with three-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, and one log of oil.

וּבַיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֗י יִקַּ֤ח שְׁנֵֽי־כְבָשִׂים֙ תְּמִימִ֔ים וְכַבְשָׂ֥ה אַחַ֛ת בַּת־שְׁנָתָ֖הּ תְּמִימָ֑ה וּשְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה עֶשְׂרֹנִ֗ים סֹ֤לֶת מִנְחָה֙ בְּלוּלָ֣ה בַשֶּׁ֔מֶן וְלֹ֥ג אֶחָ֖ד שָֽׁמֶן׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehe'emi֞yd hakּohe֣n haֽmetahe֗r 'e֛t ha'i֥yshsh hamּitּahe֖r ve'ota֑m lipene֣y yehva֔h pּe֖tach 'o֥hel mo'eֽd׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest who pronounces them clean shall present both the person to be cleansed and their offerings before the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

וְהֶעֱמִ֞יד הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַֽמְטַהֵ֗ר אֵ֛ת הָאִ֥ישׁ הַמִּטַּהֵ֖ר וְאֹתָ֑ם לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqa֨ch hakּohe֜n 'et-hakּe֣beshs ha'echa֗d vehiqeri֥yb 'ot֛o le'ashsha֖m ve'et-lo֣g hashshּa֑men veheni֥yp 'ota֛m tּenupa֖h lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the priest is to take one of the male lambs and offer it as a guilt offering, along with the log of oil; he shall wave them before the LORD as a wave offering.

וְלָקַ֨ח הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אֶת־הַכֶּ֣בֶשׂ הָאֶחָ֗ד וְהִקְרִ֥יב אֹת֛וֹ לְאָשָׁ֖ם וְאֶת־לֹ֣ג הַשָּׁ֑מֶן וְהֵנִ֥יף אֹתָ֛ם תְּנוּפָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshacha֣t 'et-hakּe֗beshs bּi֠meqom 'ashshe֨r yishshecha֧t 'et-haֽchatּa֛'t ve'et-ha'ola֖h bּimeq֣om haqּo֑deshsh kּi֡y kּa֠chatּa't ha'ashsha֥m hu'֙ lakּohe֔n qo֥deshsh qֽadashshi֖ym hֽu'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He is to slaughter the lamb in the sanctuary area where the sin offering and the burnt offering are slaughtered. Like the sin offering, the guilt offering belongs to the priest; it is most holy.

וְשָׁחַ֣ט אֶת־הַכֶּ֗בֶשׂ בִּ֠מְקוֹם אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִשְׁחַ֧ט אֶת־הַֽחַטָּ֛את וְאֶת־הָעֹלָ֖ה בִּמְק֣וֹם הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ כִּ֡י כַּ֠חַטָּאת הָאָשָׁ֥ם הוּא֙ לַכֹּהֵ֔ן קֹ֥דֶשׁ קָֽדָשִׁ֖ים הֽוּא׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqa֣ch hakּohen֮ midּa֣m ha'ashsham֒ venatan֙ hakּohe֔n 'al-tּen֛uke 'o֥zen hamּitּahe֖r hayemani֑yt ve'al-bּo֤hen yado֙ hayemani֔yt ve'al-bּo֥hen ragel֖o hayemaniֽyt׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest is to take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, on the thumb of their right hand and on the big toe of their right foot.

וְלָקַ֣ח הַכֹּהֵן֮ מִדַּ֣ם הָאָשָׁם֒ וְנָתַן֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן עַל־תְּנ֛וּךְ אֹ֥זֶן הַמִּטַּהֵ֖ר הַיְמָנִ֑ית וְעַל־בֹּ֤הֶן יָדוֹ֙ הַיְמָנִ֔ית וְעַל־בֹּ֥הֶן רַגְל֖וֹ הַיְמָנִֽית׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqa֥ch hakּohe֖n milּo֣g hashshּa֑men veyatza֛q 'al-kּa֥p hakּohe֖n hashsּema'liֽyt׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest shall then take some of the log of oil, pour it into the palm of his own left hand,

וְלָקַ֥ח הַכֹּהֵ֖ן מִלֹּ֣ג הַשָּׁ֑מֶן וְיָצַ֛ק עַל־כַּ֥ף הַכֹּהֵ֖ן הַשְּׂמָאלִֽית׃

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): vetaba֤l hakּohen֙ 'et-'etzebּa'֣o hayemani֔yt min-hashshּe֕men 'ashshe֥r 'al-kּapּ֖o hashsּema'li֑yt vehizּa֨h min-hashshּe֧men bּe'etzebּa'֛o shshe֥ba pּe'ami֖ym lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)dip his right finger into the oil in his left hand, and with his finger sprinkle some of it seven times before the LORD.

וְטָבַ֤ל הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֶת־אֶצְבָּע֣וֹ הַיְמָנִ֔ית מִן־הַשֶּׁ֕מֶן אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־כַּפּ֖וֹ הַשְּׂמָאלִ֑ית וְהִזָּ֨ה מִן־הַשֶּׁ֧מֶן בְּאֶצְבָּע֛וֹ שֶׁ֥בַע פְּעָמִ֖ים לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): umiyּe֨ter hashshּe֜men 'ashshe֣r 'al-kּapּ֗o yitּe֤n hakּohen֙ 'al-tּen֞uke 'o֤zen hamּitּaher֙ hayemani֔yt ve'al-bּo֤hen yado֙ hayemani֔yt ve'al-bּo֥hen ragel֖o hayemani֑yt 'a֖l dּa֥m ha'ashshaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest is to put some of the oil remaining in his palm on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, on the thumb of their right hand and on the big toe of their right foot, on top of the blood of the guilt offering.

וּמִיֶּ֨תֶר הַשֶּׁ֜מֶן אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־כַּפּ֗וֹ יִתֵּ֤ן הַכֹּהֵן֙ עַל־תְּנ֞וּךְ אֹ֤זֶן הַמִּטַּהֵר֙ הַיְמָנִ֔ית וְעַל־בֹּ֤הֶן יָדוֹ֙ הַיְמָנִ֔ית וְעַל־בֹּ֥הֶן רַגְל֖וֹ הַיְמָנִ֑ית עַ֖ל דַּ֥ם הָאָשָֽׁם׃

18
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehanּota֗r bּashshּe֨men֙ 'ashsher֙ 'al-kּa֣p hakּohe֔n yitּe֖n 'al-ro֣'shsh hamּitּahe֑r vekipּe֥r 'ala֛yv hakּohe֖n lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The rest of the oil in his palm the priest shall put on the head of the one to be cleansed and make atonement for them before the LORD.

וְהַנּוֹתָ֗ר בַּשֶּׁ֨מֶן֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל־כַּ֣ף הַכֹּהֵ֔ן יִתֵּ֖ן עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ הַמִּטַּהֵ֑ר וְכִפֶּ֥ר עָלָ֛יו הַכֹּהֵ֖ן לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

19
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'ashsa֤h hakּohen֙ 'et-ha֣chatּa֔'t vekipּe֕r 'al-hamּitּahe֖r mitּume'at֑o ve'acha֖r yishshecha֥t 'et-ha'olaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the priest shall sacrifice the sin offering and make atonement for the one to be cleansed from their uncleanness. After that, the priest shall slaughter the burnt offering

וְעָשָׂ֤ה הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֶת־הַ֣חַטָּ֔את וְכִפֶּ֕ר עַל־הַמִּטַּהֵ֖ר מִטֻּמְאָת֑וֹ וְאַחַ֖ר יִשְׁחַ֥ט אֶת־הָעֹלָֽה׃

20
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehe'ela֧h hakּohe֛n 'et-ha'ola֥h ve'et-hamּinecha֖h hamּizebּe֑chah vekipּe֥r 'ala֛yv hakּohe֖n vetaheֽr׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)and offer it on the altar, together with the grain offering, and make atonement for them, and they will be clean.

וְהֶעֱלָ֧ה הַכֹּהֵ֛ן אֶת־הָעֹלָ֥ה וְאֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֖ה הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חָה וְכִפֶּ֥ר עָלָ֛יו הַכֹּהֵ֖ן וְטָהֵֽר׃ס

21
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-dּa֣l h֗u ve'e֣yn yado֮ mashsּeget֒ ve֠laqach kּe֣beshs 'echa֥d 'ashsha֛m litenupa֖h lekapּe֣r 'ala֑yv ve'ishsּar֨on so֜let 'echa֨d bּal֥ul bּashshּe֛men leminecha֖h velo֥g shshaֽmen׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"If, however, they are poor and cannot afford these, they must take one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved to make atonement for them, together with a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, a log of oil,

וְאִם־דַּ֣ל ה֗וּא וְאֵ֣ין יָדוֹ֮ מַשֶּׂגֶת֒ וְ֠לָקַח כֶּ֣בֶשׂ אֶחָ֥ד אָשָׁ֛ם לִתְנוּפָ֖ה לְכַפֵּ֣ר עָלָ֑יו וְעִשָּׂר֨וֹן סֹ֜לֶת אֶחָ֨ד בָּל֥וּל בַּשֶּׁ֛מֶן לְמִנְחָ֖ה וְלֹ֥ג שָֽׁמֶן׃

22
Phonetic (Hebrew): ushshetּe֣y tori֗ym '֤o shsheney֙ bּene֣y yona֔h 'ashshe֥r tּashsּi֖yg yad֑o vehaya֤h 'echad֙ chatּa֔'t veha'echa֖d 'olaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, such as they can afford, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.

וּשְׁתֵּ֣י תֹרִ֗ים א֤וֹ שְׁנֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יוֹנָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּשִּׂ֖יג יָד֑וֹ וְהָיָ֤ה אֶחָד֙ חַטָּ֔את וְהָאֶחָ֖ד עֹלָֽה׃

23
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehebi֨y 'ota֜m bּayּ֧om hashshּemiyni֛y letahorat֖o 'el-hakּohe֑n 'el-pּe֥tach 'oֽhel-mo'e֖d lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)On the eighth day they must bring them to the priest for their cleansing at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

וְהֵבִ֨יא אֹתָ֜ם בַּיּ֧וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֛י לְטָהֳרָת֖וֹ אֶל־הַכֹּהֵ֑ן אֶל־פֶּ֥תַח אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵ֖ד לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

24
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqa֧ch hakּohe֛n 'et-kּe֥beshs ha'ashsha֖m ve'et-lo֣g hashshּa֑men veheni֨yp 'ota֧m hakּohe֛n tּenupa֖h lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest is to take the lamb for the guilt offering and the log of oil and wave them before the LORD.

וְלָקַ֧ח הַכֹּהֵ֛ן אֶת־כֶּ֥בֶשׂ הָאָשָׁ֖ם וְאֶת־לֹ֣ג הַשָּׁ֑מֶן וְהֵנִ֨יף אֹתָ֧ם הַכֹּהֵ֛ן תְּנוּפָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

25
Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshachat֮ 'et-kּe֣beshs haֽ'ashsham֒ velaqa֤ch hakּohen֙ midּa֣m haֽ'ashsha֔m venata֛n 'al-tּen֥uke 'oֽzen-hamּitּahe֖r hayemani֑yt ve'al-bּo֤hen yado֙ hayemani֔yt ve'al-bּo֥hen ragel֖o hayemaniֽyt׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He shall slaughter the lamb and put some of its blood on the lobe of the right ear, the right thumb, and the right big toe of the one being cleansed.

26
Phonetic (Hebrew): umin-hashshּe֖men yitzo֣q hakּohe֑n 'al-kּa֥p hakּohe֖n hashsּema'liֽyt׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest shall pour some of the oil into the palm of his own left hand,

וּמִן־הַשֶּׁ֖מֶן יִצֹ֣ק הַכֹּהֵ֑ן עַל־כַּ֥ף הַכֹּהֵ֖ן הַשְּׂמָאלִֽית׃

27
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehizּa֤h hakּohen֙ bּe'etzebּa'֣o hayemani֔yt min-hashshּe֕men 'ashshe֥r 'al-kּapּ֖o hashsּema'li֑yt shshe֥ba pּe'ami֖ym lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)and with his right finger sprinkle some of the oil seven times before the LORD.

וְהִזָּ֤ה הַכֹּהֵן֙ בְּאֶצְבָּע֣וֹ הַיְמָנִ֔ית מִן־הַשֶּׁ֕מֶן אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־כַּפּ֖וֹ הַשְּׂמָאלִ֑ית שֶׁ֥בַע פְּעָמִ֖ים לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

28

Edified Edition (EDE)The priest is to put some of the oil on the ear lobe, the thumb, and the big toe, exactly where the blood of the guilt offering was placed.

וְנָתַ֨ן הַכֹּהֵ֜ן מִן־הַשֶּׁ֣מֶן ׀ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־כַּפּ֗וֹ עַל־תְּנ֞וּךְ אֹ֤זֶן הַמִּטַּהֵר֙ הַיְמָנִ֔ית וְעַל־בֹּ֤הֶן יָדוֹ֙ הַיְמָנִ֔ית וְעַל־בֹּ֥הֶן רַגְל֖וֹ הַיְמָנִ֑ית עַל־מְק֖וֹם דַּ֥ם הָאָשָֽׁם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehanּota֗r min-hashshּe֨men֙ 'ashsher֙ 'al-kּa֣p hakּohe֔n yitּe֖n 'al-ro֣'shsh hamּitּahe֑r lekapּe֥r 'ala֖yv lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The rest of the oil in his palm the priest shall put on the head of the one being cleansed to make atonement for them.

וְהַנּוֹתָ֗ר מִן־הַשֶּׁ֨מֶן֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל־כַּ֣ף הַכֹּהֵ֔ן יִתֵּ֖ן עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ הַמִּטַּהֵ֑ר לְכַפֵּ֥ר עָלָ֖יו לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

30
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'ashsa֤h 'et-haֽ'echad֙ min-hatּori֔ym '֖o min-bּene֣y hayּona֑h me'ashshe֥r tּashsּi֖yg yadֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he shall sacrifice the turtledoves or pigeons, whichever the person could afford,

וְעָשָׂ֤ה אֶת־הָֽאֶחָד֙ מִן־הַתֹּרִ֔ים א֖וֹ מִן־בְּנֵ֣י הַיּוֹנָ֑ה מֵאֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּשִּׂ֖יג יָדֽוֹ׃

31
Phonetic (Hebrew): e֣t 'ashsher-tּashsּi֞yg yad֗o 'et-ha'echa֥d chatּa֛'t ve'et-ha'echa֥d 'ola֖h 'al-hamּinecha֑h vekipּe֧r hakּohe֛n 'a֥l hamּitּahe֖r lipene֥y yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, together with the grain offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for them.

אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־תַּשִּׂ֞יג יָד֗וֹ אֶת־הָאֶחָ֥ד חַטָּ֛את וְאֶת־הָאֶחָ֥ד עֹלָ֖ה עַל־הַמִּנְחָ֑ה וְכִפֶּ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן עַ֥ל הַמִּטַּהֵ֖ר לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): zo֣'t tּora֔t 'ashsher-bּ֖o ne֣ga tzara֑'at 'ashshe֛r loֽ'-tashsּi֥yg yad֖o bּetahoratֽo׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)These are the regulations for anyone with a defiling skin disease who cannot afford the regular offerings for their cleansing.

זֹ֣את תּוֹרַ֔ת אֲשֶׁר־בּ֖וֹ נֶ֣גַע צָרָ֑עַת אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא־תַשִּׂ֥יג יָד֖וֹ בְּטָהֳרָתֽוֹ׃פ

33
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֣r yehva֔h 'el-moshshe֥h ve'eֽl-'aharo֖n le'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,

וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֤y tabo֨'u֙ 'el-'e֣retz kּena֔'an 'ashshe֥r 'ani֛y note֥n lake֖m la'achuzּa֑h venatatּiy֙ ne֣ga tzara֔'at bּebe֖yt 'e֥retz 'achuzּatekeֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"When you enter the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your possession, and I put a spreading mould in a house in that land,

כִּ֤י תָבֹ֨אוּ֙ אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֛י נֹתֵ֥ן לָכֶ֖ם לַאֲחֻזָּ֑ה וְנָתַתִּי֙ נֶ֣גַע צָרַ֔עַת בְּבֵ֖ית אֶ֥רֶץ אֲחֻזַּתְכֶֽם׃

35
Phonetic (Hebrew): uba'֙ 'ashsher-l֣o habּa֔yit vehigּi֥yd lakּohe֖n le'mo֑r kּene֕ga nire'a֥h li֖y bּabּaֽyit׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the owner must tell the priest, ‘I have seen something that looks like a defiling mould in my house.’

וּבָא֙ אֲשֶׁר־ל֣וֹ הַבַּ֔יִת וְהִגִּ֥יד לַכֹּהֵ֖ן לֵאמֹ֑ר כְּנֶ֕גַע נִרְאָ֥ה לִ֖י בַּבָּֽיִת׃

36
Phonetic (Hebrew): vetziua֨h hakּohe֜n upinּ֣u 'et-habּa֗yit bּete֨rem yabo֤ hakּohen֙ lire'֣ot 'et-hanּe֔ga velo֥ yitema֖ kּal-'ashshe֣r bּabּa֑yit ve'a֥char kּe֛n yabo֥ hakּohe֖n lire'֥ot 'et-habּaֽyit׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest must order the house to be emptied before he goes in to examine the mould, so that nothing in the house will be pronounced unclean. After this the priest is to go in and examine the house.

וְצִוָּ֨ה הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וּפִנּ֣וּ אֶת־הַבַּ֗יִת בְּטֶ֨רֶם יָבֹ֤א הַכֹּהֵן֙ לִרְא֣וֹת אֶת־הַנֶּ֔גַע וְלֹ֥א יִטְמָ֖א כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּבָּ֑יִת וְאַ֥חַר כֵּ֛ן יָבֹ֥א הַכֹּהֵ֖ן לִרְא֥וֹת אֶת־הַבָּֽיִת׃

37
Phonetic (Hebrew): vera'a֣h 'et-hanּe֗ga vehinּe֤h hanּe֨ga'֙ bּeqiyro֣t habּa֔yit shsheqaֽ'arurot֙ yeraqeraqּo֔t '֖o 'adamedּamּo֑t umare'eyhe֥n shshapa֖l min-haqּiֽyr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He is to examine the mould on the walls, and if it has greenish or reddish depressions that appear to be deeper than the surface of the wall,

וְרָאָ֣ה אֶת־הַנֶּ֗גַע וְהִנֵּ֤ה הַנֶּ֨גַע֙ בְּקִירֹ֣ת הַבַּ֔יִת שְׁקַֽעֲרוּרֹת֙ יְרַקְרַקֹּ֔ת א֖וֹ אֲדַמְדַּמֹּ֑ת וּמַרְאֵיהֶ֥ן שָׁפָ֖ל מִן־הַקִּֽיר׃

38
Phonetic (Hebrew): veyatza֧ hakּohe֛n min-habּa֖yit 'el-pּe֣tach habּa֑yit vehisegּi֥yr 'et-habּa֖yit shshibe'a֥t yamiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the priest shall go out of the doorway and close up the house for seven days.

וְיָצָ֧א הַכֹּהֵ֛ן מִן־הַבַּ֖יִת אֶל־פֶּ֣תַח הַבָּ֑יִת וְהִסְגִּ֥יר אֶת־הַבַּ֖יִת שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים׃

39
Phonetic (Hebrew): veshsha֥b hakּohe֖n bּayּ֣om hashshּebiy'i֑y vera'a֕h vehinּe֛h pּashsa֥h hanּe֖ga bּeqiyro֥t habּaֽyit׃
Edified Edition (EDE)On the seventh day the priest shall return to examine the house. If the mould has spread on the walls,

וְשָׁ֥ב הַכֹּהֵ֖ן בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֑י וְרָאָ֕ה וְהִנֵּ֛ה פָּשָׂ֥ה הַנֶּ֖גַע בְּקִירֹ֥ת הַבָּֽיִת׃

40
Phonetic (Hebrew): vetziuah֙ hakּohe֔n vechilּetzu֙ 'et-ha֣'abani֔ym 'ashshe֥r bּahe֖n hanּa֑ga vehishsheli֤yku 'etehen֙ 'el-mich֣utz la'i֔yr 'el-maq֖om tameֽ'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)he shall order that the contaminated stones be torn out and thrown into an unclean place outside the town.

וְצִוָּה֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְחִלְּצוּ֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֲבָנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּהֵ֖ן הַנָּ֑גַע וְהִשְׁלִ֤יכוּ אֶתְהֶן֙ אֶל־מִח֣וּץ לָעִ֔יר אֶל־מָק֖וֹם טָמֵֽא׃

41
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'et-habּa֛yit yaqetzi֥'a mibּa֖yit sabi֑yb veshshapek֗u 'et-heֽ'apar֙ 'ashshe֣r hiqetz֔u 'el-mich֣utz la'i֔yr 'el-maq֖om tameֽ'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He must have all the inside walls of the house scraped and the material that is scraped off thrown into an unclean place outside the town.

וְאֶת־הַבַּ֛יִת יַקְצִ֥עַ מִבַּ֖יִת סָבִ֑יב וְשָׁפְכ֗וּ אֶת־הֶֽעָפָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִקְצ֔וּ אֶל־מִח֣וּץ לָעִ֔יר אֶל־מָק֖וֹם טָמֵֽא׃

42
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqechu֙ 'abani֣ym 'acher֔ot vehebi֖y'u 'el-tּa֣chat ha'abani֑ym ve'apa֥r 'ache֛r yiqּa֖ch veta֥ch 'et-habּaֽyit׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then they are to take other stones to replace these and take new clay and plaster the house.

וְלָקְחוּ֙ אֲבָנִ֣ים אֲחֵר֔וֹת וְהֵבִ֖יאוּ אֶל־תַּ֣חַת הָאֲבָנִ֑ים וְעָפָ֥ר אַחֵ֛ר יִקַּ֖ח וְטָ֥ח אֶת־הַבָּֽיִת׃

43
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-yashsh֤ub hanּe֨ga'֙ upara֣ch bּabּa֔yit 'acha֖r chilּe֣tz 'et-ha'abani֑ym ve'achare֛y hiqetz֥ot 'et-habּa֖yit ve'achare֥y hitּֽocha׃
Edified Edition (EDE)If the mould reappears in the house after the stones have been torn out and the house scraped and plastered,

וְאִם־יָשׁ֤וּב הַנֶּ֨גַע֙ וּפָרַ֣ח בַּבַּ֔יִת אַחַ֖ר חִלֵּ֣ץ אֶת־הָאֲבָנִ֑ים וְאַחֲרֵ֛י הִקְצ֥וֹת אֶת־הַבַּ֖יִת וְאַחֲרֵ֥י הִטּֽוֹחַ׃

44
Phonetic (Hebrew): uba'֙ hakּohe֔n vera'a֕h vehinּe֛h pּashsa֥h hanּe֖ga bּabּa֑yit tzara֨'at mame'e֥ret hi֛v bּabּa֖yit tame֥ hֽu'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)the priest is to go and examine it and, if the mould has spread in the house, it is a destructive mould; the house is unclean.

וּבָא֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְרָאָ֕ה וְהִנֵּ֛ה פָּשָׂ֥ה הַנֶּ֖גַע בַּבָּ֑יִת צָרַ֨עַת מַמְאֶ֥רֶת הִ֛וא בַּבַּ֖יִת טָמֵ֥א הֽוּא׃

45
Phonetic (Hebrew): venata֣tz 'et-habּa֗yit 'et-'abanayv֙ ve'et-'etza֔yv ve'e֖t kּal-'apa֣r habּa֑yit vehotziy'֙ 'el-mich֣utz la'i֔yr 'el-maq֖om tameֽ'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)It must be torn down, its stones, timbers and all the plaster, and taken to an unclean place outside the town.

וְנָתַ֣ץ אֶת־הַבַּ֗יִת אֶת־אֲבָנָיו֙ וְאֶת־עֵצָ֔יו וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־עֲפַ֣ר הַבָּ֑יִת וְהוֹצִיא֙ אֶל־מִח֣וּץ לָעִ֔יר אֶל־מָק֖וֹם טָמֵֽא׃

46
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehabּa'֙ 'el-habּa֔yit kּal-yeme֖y hisegּi֣yr 'ot֑o yitema֖ 'ad-ha'aֽreb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Anyone who goes into the house while it is closed up will be unclean till evening.

וְהַבָּא֙ אֶל־הַבַּ֔יִת כָּל־יְמֵ֖י הִסְגִּ֣יר אֹת֑וֹ יִטְמָ֖א עַד־הָעָֽרֶב׃

47
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehashshּoke֣b bּabּa֔yit yekabּe֖s 'et-bּegada֑yv veha'oke֣l bּabּa֔yit yekabּe֖s 'et-bּegadaֽyv׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Anyone who sleeps or eats in the house must wash their clothes.

וְהַשֹּׁכֵ֣ב בַּבַּ֔יִת יְכַבֵּ֖ס אֶת־בְּגָדָ֑יו וְהָאֹכֵ֣ל בַּבַּ֔יִת יְכַבֵּ֖ס אֶת־בְּגָדָֽיו׃

48
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-bּo֨ yabo֜ hakּohe֗n vera'ah֙ ve֠hinּeh lo'-pashsa֤h hanּe֨ga'֙ bּabּa֔yit 'achare֖y hitּo֣cha 'et-habּa֑yit vetiha֤r hakּohen֙ 'et-habּa֔yit kּi֥y nirepּa֖ hanּaֽga'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)But if the priest comes to examine it and the mould has not spread after the house has been plastered, he shall pronounce the house clean, because the mould has gone.

וְאִם־בֹּ֨א יָבֹ֜א הַכֹּהֵ֗ן וְרָאָה֙ וְ֠הִנֵּה לֹא־פָשָׂ֤ה הַנֶּ֨גַע֙ בַּבַּ֔יִת אַחֲרֵ֖י הִטֹּ֣חַ אֶת־הַבָּ֑יִת וְטִהַ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֶת־הַבַּ֔יִת כִּ֥י נִרְפָּ֖א הַנָּֽגַע׃

49
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqa֛ch lechatּe֥ 'et-habּa֖yit shshetּe֣y tzipּori֑ym ve'e֣tz 'e֔rez ushsheni֥y tola֖'at ve'ezoֽb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)To purify the house he is to take two birds and some cedar wood, scarlet yarn and hyssop.

וְלָקַ֛ח לְחַטֵּ֥א אֶת־הַבַּ֖יִת שְׁתֵּ֣י צִפֳּרִ֑ים וְעֵ֣ץ אֶ֔רֶז וּשְׁנִ֥י תוֹלַ֖עַת וְאֵזֹֽב׃

50
Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshacha֖t 'et-hatzּipּo֣r ha'echa֑t 'el-kּeliy-che֖reshs 'al-ma֥yim chayּiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He shall slaughter one of the birds over fresh water in a clay pot.

וְשָׁחַ֖ט אֶת־הַצִּפֹּ֣ר הָאֶחָ֑ת אֶל־כְּלִי־חֶ֖רֶשׂ עַל־מַ֥יִם חַיִּֽים׃

51
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaqa֣ch 'et-'eֽtz-ha֠'erez ve'et-ha֨'ezo֜b ve'e֣t ׀ shsheni֣y hatּola֗'at ve'et֮ hatzּipּo֣r hֽachayּah֒ vetaba֣l 'ota֗m bּedam֙ hatzּipּo֣r hashshּechuta֔h ubamּa֖yim haֽchayּi֑ym vehizּa֥h 'el-habּa֖yit shshe֥ba pּe'amiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he is to take the cedar wood, the hyssop, the scarlet yarn and the live bird, dip them into the blood of the slaughtered bird and the fresh water, and sprinkle the house seven times.

וְלָקַ֣ח אֶת־עֵֽץ־הָ֠אֶרֶז וְאֶת־הָ֨אֵזֹ֜ב וְאֵ֣ת ׀ שְׁנִ֣י הַתּוֹלַ֗עַת וְאֵת֮ הַצִּפֹּ֣ר הַֽחַיָּה֒ וְטָבַ֣ל אֹתָ֗ם בְּדַם֙ הַצִּפֹּ֣ר הַשְּׁחוּטָ֔ה וּבַמַּ֖יִם הַֽחַיִּ֑ים וְהִזָּ֥ה אֶל־הַבַּ֖יִת שֶׁ֥בַע פְּעָמִֽים׃

52
Phonetic (Hebrew): vechitּe֣ 'et-habּa֔yit bּedam֙ hatzּipּ֔or ubamּa֖yim haֽchayּi֑ym ubatzּipּo֣r hachayּa֗h ube'e֥tz ha'e֛rez uba'ezo֖b ubishsheni֥y hatּolaֽ'at׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He shall purify the house with the bird’s blood, the fresh water, the live bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop and the scarlet yarn.

וְחִטֵּ֣א אֶת־הַבַּ֔יִת בְּדַם֙ הַצִּפּ֔וֹר וּבַמַּ֖יִם הַֽחַיִּ֑ים וּבַצִּפֹּ֣ר הַחַיָּ֗ה וּבְעֵ֥ץ הָאֶ֛רֶז וּבָאֵזֹ֖ב וּבִשְׁנִ֥י הַתּוֹלָֽעַת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshilּa֞ch 'et-hatzּipּo֧r haֽchayּa֛h 'el-mich֥utz la'i֖yr 'el-pּene֣y hashsּade֑h vekipּe֥r 'al-habּa֖yit vetaheֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he is to release the live bird in the open fields outside the town. In this way he will make atonement for the house, and it will be clean.

וְשִׁלַּ֞ח אֶת־הַצִּפֹּ֧ר הַֽחַיָּ֛ה אֶל־מִח֥וּץ לָעִ֖יר אֶל־פְּנֵ֣י הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וְכִפֶּ֥ר עַל־הַבַּ֖יִת וְטָהֵֽר׃

Edified Edition (EDE)These are the regulations for any defiling skin disease,

Edified Edition (EDE)for mould in a fabric or in a house,

וּלְצָרַ֥עַת הַבֶּ֖גֶד וְלַבָּֽיִת׃

Edified Edition (EDE)and for a swelling, a rash or a bright spot,

Edified Edition (EDE)In this way you can determine when something is unclean and when it is clean. These are the regulations for skin diseases and mould.

לְהוֹרֹ֕ת בְּי֥וֹם הַטָּמֵ֖א וּבְי֣וֹם הַטָּהֹ֑ר זֹ֥את תּוֹרַ֖ת הַצָּרָֽעַת׃ס
