Chapter 23

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD said to Moses,

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): dּabּe֞r 'el-bּene֤y yishsera'el֙ ve'amaretּa֣ 'alehe֔m mo'ade֣y yehva֔h 'ashsher-tּiqere'֥u 'ota֖m miqera'e֣y qo֑deshsh 'e֥lּeh he֖m mo'adaֽy׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘These are my appointed festivals, the appointed festivals of the LORD, which you are to proclaim as holy assemblies.

דַּבֵּ֞ר אֶל־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם מוֹעֲדֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־תִּקְרְא֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם מִקְרָאֵ֣י קֹ֑דֶשׁ אֵ֥לֶּה הֵ֖ם מוֹעֲדָֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshe֣shshet yamiym֮ tּe'ashse֣h mela'kah֒ ubayּ֣om hashshּebiy'i֗y shshabּa֤t shshabּaton֙ miqera'-qo֔deshsh kּal-mela'ka֖h lo֣ ta'ashs֑u shshabּa֥t hiv'֙ laֽyhva֔h bּeko֖l mֽoshsheboteykeֽm׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)“‘There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of holy assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the LORD.

שֵׁ֣שֶׁת יָמִים֮ תֵּעָשֶׂ֣ה מְלָאכָה֒ וּבַיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י שַׁבַּ֤ת שַׁבָּתוֹן֙ מִקְרָא־קֹ֔דֶשׁ כָּל־מְלָאכָ֖ה לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֑וּ שַׁבָּ֥ת הִוא֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה בְּכֹ֖ל מֽוֹשְׁבֹתֵיכֶֽם׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): e֚lּeh mo'ade֣y yehva֔h miqera'e֖y qo֑deshsh 'ashsher-tּiqere'֥u 'ota֖m bּemo'adaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)“‘These are the LORD’s appointed festivals, the holy assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times:

אֵ֚לֶּה מוֹעֲדֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה מִקְרָאֵ֖י קֹ֑דֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר־תִּקְרְא֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם בְּמוֹעֲדָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּacho֣deshsh hari'shsh֗on bּe'arebּa'a֥h 'ashsa֛r lacho֖deshsh bּe֣yn ha'arebּa֑yim pּe֖sach layhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.

בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן בְּאַרְבָּעָ֥ה עָשָׂ֛ר לַחֹ֖דֶשׁ בֵּ֣ין הָעַרְבָּ֑יִם פֶּ֖סַח לַיהוָֽה׃

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): ubachamishshּa֨h 'ashsa֥r yom֙ lacho֣deshsh hazּe֔h cha֥g hamּatzּ֖ot layhva֑h shshibe'a֥t yami֖ym matzּ֥ot tּo'keֽlu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD’s Festival of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast.

וּבַחֲמִשָּׁ֨ה עָשָׂ֥ר יוֹם֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַזֶּ֔ה חַ֥ג הַמַּצּ֖וֹת לַיהוָ֑ה שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים מַצּ֥וֹת תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): bּayּom֙ haֽri'shsh֔on miqera'-qo֖deshsh yiheye֣h lake֑m kּal-mele֥'ket 'aboda֖h lo֥ ta'ashsֽu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)On the first day hold a holy assembly and do no regular work.

בַּיּוֹם֙ הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן מִקְרָא־קֹ֖דֶשׁ יִהְיֶ֣ה לָכֶ֑ם כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֥א תַעֲשֽׂוּ׃

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehiqerabetּe֥m 'ishshּe֛h layhva֖h shshibe'a֣t yami֑ym bּayּ֤om hashshּebiy'iy֙ miqera'-qo֔deshsh kּal-mele֥'ket 'aboda֖h lo֥ ta'ashsֽu׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)For seven days present a food offering to the LORD. And on the seventh day hold a holy assembly and do no regular work.’"

וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֥ם אִשֶּׁ֛ה לַיהוָ֖ה שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים בַּיּ֤וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי֙ מִקְרָא־קֹ֔דֶשׁ כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֥א תַעֲשֽׂוּ׃פ

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD said to Moses,

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): dּabּe֞r 'el-bּene֤y yishsera'el֙ ve'amaretּa֣ 'alehe֔m kּiֽy-tabo֣'u 'el-ha'a֗retz 'ashshe֤r 'aniy֙ note֣n lake֔m uqetzaretּe֖m 'et-qetziyra֑hּ vahabe'te֥m 'et-'o֛mer re'shshi֥yt qetziyreke֖m 'el-hakּoheֽn׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest.

דַּבֵּ֞ר אֶל־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם כִּֽי־תָבֹ֣אוּ אֶל־הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֲנִי֙ נֹתֵ֣ן לָכֶ֔ם וּקְצַרְתֶּ֖ם אֶת־קְצִירָ֑הּ וַהֲבֵאתֶ֥ם אֶת־עֹ֛מֶר רֵאשִׁ֥ית קְצִירְכֶ֖ם אֶל־הַכֹּהֵֽן׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): veheni֧yp 'et-ha'o֛mer lipene֥y yehva֖h liֽretzoneke֑m miֽmּachorat֙ hashshּabּa֔t yeniype֖nּu hakּoheֽn׃
Edified Edition (EDE)He is to wave the sheaf before the LORD so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath.

וְהֵנִ֧יף אֶת־הָעֹ֛מֶר לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לִֽרְצֹנְכֶ֑ם מִֽמָּחֳרַת֙ הַשַּׁבָּ֔ת יְנִיפֶ֖נּוּ הַכֹּהֵֽן׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): va'ashsiyte֕m bּey֥om haniֽypeke֖m 'et-ha'o֑mer kּe֣beshs tּami֧ym bּen-shshenat֛o le'ola֖h layhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the LORD a lamb a year old without defect,

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֕ם בְּי֥וֹם הֲנִֽיפְכֶ֖ם אֶת־הָעֹ֑מֶר כֶּ֣בֶשׂ תָּמִ֧ים בֶּן־שְׁנָת֛וֹ לְעֹלָ֖ה לַיהוָֽה׃

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): uminechato֩ shshene֨y 'eshseroni֜ym so֣let bּelula֥h bashshּe֛men 'ishshּe֥h layhva֖h re֣ycha niycho֑cha venisekּo֥h ya֖yin rebiy'i֥t hahiֽyn׃
Edified Edition (EDE)together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with olive oil, a food offering presented to the LORD, a pleasing aroma, and its drink offering of a quarter of a hin of wine.

וּמִנְחָתוֹ֩ שְׁנֵ֨י עֶשְׂרֹנִ֜ים סֹ֣לֶת בְּלוּלָ֥ה בַשֶּׁ֛מֶן אִשֶּׁ֥ה לַיהוָ֖ה רֵ֣יחַ נִיחֹ֑חַ וְנִסְכֹּ֥ה יַ֖יִן רְבִיעִ֥ת הַהִֽין׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): velechem֩ veqali֨y vekareme֜l lo֣ toֽ'kel֗u 'ad-'e֨tzem֙ hayּ֣om hazּe֔h 'a֚d habi֣y'ake֔m 'et-qarebּa֖n 'eloheyke֑m chuqּa֤t 'olam֙ ledoro֣teyke֔m bּeko֖l moshsheboֽteykeֽm׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)You must not eat any bread, or roasted grain, or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.

וְלֶחֶם֩ וְקָלִ֨י וְכַרְמֶ֜ל לֹ֣א תֹֽאכְל֗וּ עַד־עֶ֨צֶם֙ הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה עַ֚ד הֲבִ֣יאֲכֶ֔ם אֶת־קָרְבַּ֖ן אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם חֻקַּ֤ת עוֹלָם֙ לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם בְּכֹ֖ל מֹשְׁבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ס

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): useparetּe֤m lakem֙ mimּachora֣t hashshּabּa֔t miyּom֙ habi֣y'ake֔m 'et-'o֖mer hatּenupa֑h shshe֥ba shshabּat֖ot tּemiymo֥t tּiheyeֽynah׃
Edified Edition (EDE)“‘From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks.

וּסְפַרְתֶּ֤ם לָכֶם֙ מִמָּחֳרַ֣ת הַשַּׁבָּ֔ת מִיּוֹם֙ הֲבִ֣יאֲכֶ֔ם אֶת־עֹ֖מֶר הַתְּנוּפָ֑ה שֶׁ֥בַע שַׁבָּת֖וֹת תְּמִימֹ֥ת תִּהְיֶֽינָה׃

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): a֣d miֽmּachora֤t hashshּabּat֙ hashshּebiy'i֔t tּisepּer֖u chamishshּi֣ym y֑om vehiqerabetּe֛m minecha֥h chadashsha֖h layhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD.

עַ֣ד מִֽמָּחֳרַ֤ת הַשַּׁבָּת֙ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔ת תִּסְפְּר֖וּ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים י֑וֹם וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֛ם מִנְחָ֥ה חֲדָשָׁ֖ה לַיהוָֽה׃

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): mimּoshshebo֨teyke֜m tּabi֣y'ּu ׀ le֣chem tּenupa֗h shshe֚tּayim shshene֣y 'eshseroni֔ym so֣let tּiheye֔ynah chame֖tz tּe'ape֑ynah bּikּuri֖ym lֽayhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the LORD.

מִמּוֹשְׁבֹ֨תֵיכֶ֜ם תָּבִ֣יאּוּ ׀ לֶ֣חֶם תְּנוּפָ֗ה שְׁ֚תַּיִם שְׁנֵ֣י עֶשְׂרֹנִ֔ים סֹ֣לֶת תִּהְיֶ֔ינָה חָמֵ֖ץ תֵּאָפֶ֑ינָה בִּכּוּרִ֖ים לַֽיהוָֽה׃

18
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehiqerabetּe֣m 'al-halּe֗chem shshibe'a֨t kּebashsi֤ym tּemiymim֙ bּene֣y shshana֔h upa֧r bּen-bּaqa֛r 'echa֖d ve'eyli֣m shshena֑yim yihey֤u 'olah֙ laֽyhva֔h uminechatam֙ venisekּeyhe֔m 'ishshּe֥h reֽycha-niycho֖cha layhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֣ם עַל־הַלֶּ֗חֶם שִׁבְעַ֨ת כְּבָשִׂ֤ים תְּמִימִם֙ בְּנֵ֣י שָׁנָ֔ה וּפַ֧ר בֶּן־בָּקָ֛ר אֶחָ֖ד וְאֵילִ֣ם שְׁנָ֑יִם יִהְי֤וּ עֹלָה֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה וּמִנְחָתָם֙ וְנִסְכֵּיהֶ֔ם אִשֵּׁ֥ה רֵֽיחַ־נִיחֹ֖חַ לַיהוָֽה׃

19
Phonetic (Hebrew): va'ashsiyte֛m shse'iyr-'izּi֥ym 'echa֖d lechatּa֑'t ushshene֧y kebashsi֛ym bּene֥y shshana֖h leze֥bach shshelamiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering.

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֛ם שְׂעִיר־עִזִּ֥ים אֶחָ֖ד לְחַטָּ֑את וּשְׁנֵ֧י כְבָשִׂ֛ים בְּנֵ֥י שָׁנָ֖ה לְזֶ֥בַח שְׁלָמִֽים׃

20
Phonetic (Hebrew): veheni֣yp hakּohe֣n ׀ 'ota֡m 'al֩ le֨chem habּikּuri֤ym tּenupah֙ lipene֣y yehva֔h 'al-shshene֖y kּebashsi֑ym qo֛deshsh yihey֥u layhva֖h lakּoheֽn׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest is to wave the two lambs before the LORD as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to the LORD for the priest.

וְהֵנִ֣יף הַכֹּהֵ֣ן ׀ אֹתָ֡ם עַל֩ לֶ֨חֶם הַבִּכּוּרִ֤ים תְּנוּפָה֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה עַל־שְׁנֵ֖י כְּבָשִׂ֑ים קֹ֛דֶשׁ יִהְי֥וּ לַיהוָ֖ה לַכֹּהֵֽן׃

21
Phonetic (Hebrew): uqera'te֞m bּe'e֣tzem ׀ hayּ֣om hazּe֗h miֽqera'-qo֨deshsh֙ yiheye֣h lake֔m kּal-mele֥'ket 'aboda֖h lo֣ ta'ashs֑u chuqּa֥t 'ola֛m bּekal-moshshebo֥teyke֖m ledoroֽteykeֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)On that same day you are to proclaim a holy assembly and do no regular work. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.

וּקְרָאתֶ֞ם בְּעֶ֣צֶם ׀ הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֗ה מִֽקְרָא־קֹ֨דֶשׁ֙ יִהְיֶ֣ה לָכֶ֔ם כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֑וּ חֻקַּ֥ת עוֹלָ֛ם בְּכָל־מוֹשְׁבֹ֥תֵיכֶ֖ם לְדֹרֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃

22
Phonetic (Hebrew): uֽbequtzereke֞m 'et-qetzi֣yr 'aretzeke֗m loֽ'-tekalּe֞h pּe'a֤t shsaֽdeka֙ bּequtzere֔ka vele֥qet qetziyreka֖ lo֣ telaqּe֑t leֽ'ani֤y velagּer֙ tּa'azo֣b 'ota֔m 'ani֖y yehva֥h 'eloheykeֽm׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)“‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the LORD your God.’”

וּֽבְקֻצְרְכֶ֞ם אֶת־קְצִ֣יר אַרְצְכֶ֗ם לֹֽא־תְכַלֶּ֞ה פְּאַ֤ת שָֽׂדְךָ֙ בְּקֻצְרֶ֔ךָ וְלֶ֥קֶט קְצִירְךָ֖ לֹ֣א תְלַקֵּ֑ט לֶֽעָנִ֤י וְלַגֵּר֙ תַּעֲזֹ֣ב אֹתָ֔ם אֲנִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃ס

23
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD said to Moses,

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

24
Phonetic (Hebrew): dּabּe֛r 'el-bּene֥y yishsera'e֖l le'mo֑r bּacho֨deshsh hashshּebiy'i֜y bּe'echa֣d lacho֗deshsh yiheye֤h lakem֙ shshabּat֔on ziker֥on tּeru'a֖h miqera'-qoֽdeshsh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly announced with trumpet blasts.

דַּבֵּ֛ר אֶל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר בַּחֹ֨דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֜י בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֗דֶשׁ יִהְיֶ֤ה לָכֶם֙ שַׁבָּת֔וֹן זִכְר֥וֹן תְּרוּעָ֖ה מִקְרָא־קֹֽדֶשׁ׃

25
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּal-mele֥'ket 'aboda֖h lo֣ ta'ashs֑u vehiqerabetּe֥m 'ishshּe֖h layhvaֽh׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)Do no regular work, but present a food offering to the LORD.

כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֑וּ וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֥ם אִשֶּׁ֖ה לַיהוָֽה׃ס

26
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD said to Moses,

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

27
Phonetic (Hebrew): a֡ke bּe'ashs֣or lachodeshsh֩ hashshּebiy'i֨y hazּe֜h y֧om hakּipּuri֣ym h֗u miֽqera'-qo֨deshsh֙ yiheye֣h lake֔m ve'inּiyte֖m 'et-napeshshoteyke֑m vehiqerabetּe֥m 'ishshּe֖h layhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and fast, and present a food offering to the LORD.

אַ֡ךְ בֶּעָשׂ֣וֹר לַחֹדֶשׁ֩ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֨י הַזֶּ֜ה י֧וֹם הַכִּפֻּרִ֣ים ה֗וּא מִֽקְרָא־קֹ֨דֶשׁ֙ יִהְיֶ֣ה לָכֶ֔ם וְעִנִּיתֶ֖ם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶ֑ם וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֥ם אִשֶּׁ֖ה לַיהוָֽה׃

28
Phonetic (Hebrew): vekal-mela'kah֙ lo֣ ta'ashs֔u bּe'e֖tzem hayּ֣om hazּe֑h kּi֣y y֤om kּipּuriym֙ h֔u lekapּe֣r 'aleyke֔m lipene֖y yehva֥h 'eloheykeֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Do not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God.

וְכָל־מְלָאכָה֙ לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֔וּ בְּעֶ֖צֶם הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֣י י֤וֹם כִּפֻּרִים֙ ה֔וּא לְכַפֵּ֣ר עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם לִפְנֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

29
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֤y kal-hanּe֨peshsh֙ 'ashshe֣r loֽ'-te'unּe֔h bּe'e֖tzem hayּ֣om hazּe֑h venikereta֖h meֽ'amּeֽyha׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Those who do not fast on that day must be cut off from their people.

כִּ֤י כָל־הַנֶּ֨פֶשׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־תְעֻנֶּ֔ה בְּעֶ֖צֶם הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וְנִכְרְתָ֖ה מֵֽעַמֶּֽיהָ׃

30
Phonetic (Hebrew): vekal-hanּe֗peshsh 'ashshe֤r tּa'ashseh֙ kּal-mela'ka֔h bּe'e֖tzem hayּ֣om hazּe֑h vehaֽ'abadetּi֛y 'et-hanּe֥peshsh hahi֖v miqּe֥reb 'amּaֽhּ׃
Edified Edition (EDE)I will destroy from among their people anyone who does any work on that day.

וְכָל־הַנֶּ֗פֶשׁ אֲשֶׁ֤ר תַּעֲשֶׂה֙ כָּל־מְלָאכָ֔ה בְּעֶ֖צֶם הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וְהַֽאֲבַדְתִּ֛י אֶת־הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַהִ֖וא מִקֶּ֥רֶב עַמָּֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּal-mela'ka֖h lo֣ ta'ashs֑u chuqּa֤t 'olam֙ ledoro֣teyke֔m bּeko֖l moֽshsheboֽteykeֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.

כָּל־מְלָאכָ֖ה לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֑וּ חֻקַּ֤ת עוֹלָם֙ לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם בְּכֹ֖ל מֹֽשְׁבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshabּa֨t shshabּat֥on hu'֙ lake֔m ve'inּiyte֖m 'et-napeshshoteyke֑m bּetishshe'a֤h lacho֨deshsh֙ bּa'e֔reb me'e֣reb 'ad-'e֔reb tּishshebּet֖u shshabּatּekeֽm׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must fast. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath."

שַׁבַּ֨ת שַׁבָּת֥וֹן הוּא֙ לָכֶ֔ם וְעִנִּיתֶ֖ם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶ֑ם בְּתִשְׁעָ֤ה לַחֹ֨דֶשׁ֙ בָּעֶ֔רֶב מֵעֶ֣רֶב עַד־עֶ֔רֶב תִּשְׁבְּת֖וּ שַׁבַּתְּכֶֽם׃פ

Edified Edition (EDE)"Say to the Israelites: ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the LORD’s Festival of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days.

דַּבֵּ֛ר אֶל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֨ה עָשָׂ֜ר י֗וֹם לַחֹ֤דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי֙ הַזֶּ֔ה חַ֧ג הַסֻּכּ֛וֹת שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים לַיהֹוָֽה׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The first day is a holy assembly; do no regular work.

בַּיּ֥וֹם הָרִאשׁ֖וֹן מִקְרָא־קֹ֑דֶשׁ כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֥א תַעֲשֽׂוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshibe'a֣t yami֔ym tּaqeri֥ybu 'ishshּe֖h layhva֑h bּayּ֣om hashshּemiyni֡y miqera'-qodeshsh֩ yiheye֨h lake֜m vehiqerabetּe֨m 'ishshּe֤h laֽyhvah֙ 'atze֣ret hi֔v kּal-mele֥'ket 'aboda֖h lo֥ ta'ashsֽu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)For seven days present food offerings to the LORD, and on the eighth day hold a holy assembly and present a food offering to the LORD. It is a closing special assembly; do no regular work.

שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֔ים תַּקְרִ֥יבוּ אִשֶּׁ֖ה לַיהוָ֑ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֡י מִקְרָא־קֹדֶשׁ֩ יִהְיֶ֨ה לָכֶ֜ם וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֨ם אִשֶּׁ֤ה לַֽיהוָה֙ עֲצֶ֣רֶת הִ֔וא כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֥א תַעֲשֽׂוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): e֚lּeh mo'ade֣y yehva֔h 'ashsher-tּiqere'֥u 'ota֖m miqera'e֣y qo֑deshsh lehaqeri֨yb 'ishshּe֜h layhva֗h 'ola֧h uminecha֛h ze֥bach unesaki֖ym dּebar-y֥om bּeyomֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)“‘(These are the LORD’s appointed festivals, which you are to proclaim as holy assemblies for bringing food offerings to the LORD, the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day.

אֵ֚לֶּה מוֹעֲדֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־תִּקְרְא֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם מִקְרָאֵ֣י קֹ֑דֶשׁ לְהַקְרִ֨יב אִשֶּׁ֜ה לַיהוָ֗ה עֹלָ֧ה וּמִנְחָ֛ה זֶ֥בַח וּנְסָכִ֖ים דְּבַר־י֥וֹם בְּיוֹמֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): milּeba֖d shshabּeto֣t yּehva֑h umilּeba֣d matּenֽoteyke֗m umilּeba֤d kּal-nidereykem֙ umilּebad֙ kּal-nideb֣oteyke֔m 'ashshe֥r tּitּen֖u layhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)These festivals are in addition to the LORD’s Sabbaths and in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the voluntary offerings you give to the LORD.)

מִלְּבַ֖ד שַׁבְּתֹ֣ת יְּהוָ֑ה וּמִלְּבַ֣ד מַתְּנֽוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם וּמִלְּבַ֤ד כָּל־נִדְרֵיכֶם֙ וּמִלְּבַד֙ כָּל־נִדְב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּתְּנ֖וּ לַיהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): a֡ke bּachamishshּah֩ 'ashsa֨r y֜om lacho֣deshsh hashshּebiy'i֗y bּe'asepּekem֙ 'et-tּebu'a֣t ha'a֔retz tּacho֥gּu 'et-chag-yehva֖h shshibe'a֣t yami֑ym bּayּ֤om haֽri'shshon֙ shshabּat֔on ubayּ֥om hashshּemiyni֖y shshabּatֽon׃
Edified Edition (EDE)“‘So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the LORD for seven days; the first day is a day of sabbath rest, and the eighth day also is a day of sabbath rest.

אַ֡ךְ בַּחֲמִשָּׁה֩ עָשָׂ֨ר י֜וֹם לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י בְּאָסְפְּכֶם֙ אֶת־תְּבוּאַ֣ת הָאָ֔רֶץ תָּחֹ֥גּוּ אֶת־חַג־יְהוָ֖ה שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים בַּיּ֤וֹם הָֽרִאשׁוֹן֙ שַׁבָּת֔וֹן וּבַיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֖י שַׁבָּתֽוֹן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): uleqachetּe֨m lake֜m bּayּ֣om hari'shsh֗on pּeri֨y 'e֤tz hadar֙ kּapּo֣t tּemari֔ym va'ana֥p 'etz-'abo֖t ve'arebey-na֑chal ushsemachetּe֗m lipene֛y yehva֥h 'eloheyke֖m shshibe'a֥t yamiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)On the first day you are to take branches from luxuriant trees, from palms, willows and other leafy trees, and rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days.

וּלְקַחְתֶּ֨ם לָכֶ֜ם בַּיּ֣וֹם הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן פְּרִ֨י עֵ֤ץ הָדָר֙ כַּפֹּ֣ת תְּמָרִ֔ים וַעֲנַ֥ף עֵץ־עָבֹ֖ת וְעַרְבֵי־נָ֑חַל וּשְׂמַחְתֶּ֗ם לִפְנֵ֛י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vechagּote֤m 'oto֙ cha֣g laֽyhva֔h shshibe'a֥t yami֖ym bּashshּana֑h chuqּa֤t 'olam֙ ledoro֣teyke֔m bּacho֥deshsh hashshּebiy'i֖y tּacho֥gּu 'otֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Celebrate this as a festival to the LORD for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month.

וְחַגֹּתֶ֤ם אֹתוֹ֙ חַ֣ג לַֽיהוָ֔ה שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים בַּשָּׁנָ֑ה חֻקַּ֤ת עוֹלָם֙ לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י תָּחֹ֥גּוּ אֹתֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּasּukּo֥t tּeshsheb֖u shshibe'a֣t yami֑ym kּal-haֽ'ezerach֙ bּeyishsera'e֔l yeshsheb֖u bּasּukּoֽt׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Live in temporary shelters for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in such shelters

בַּסֻּכֹּ֥ת תֵּשְׁב֖וּ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים כָּל־הָֽאֶזְרָח֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יֵשְׁב֖וּ בַּסֻּכֹּֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lema'an֮ yede'֣u doroֽteykem֒ kּi֣y basּukּ֗ot hoshsha֨betּiy֙ 'et-bּene֣y yishsera'e֔l bּehotziy'i֥y 'ota֖m me'e֣retz mitzera֑yim 'ani֖y yehva֥h 'eloheykeֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in shelters when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’"

לְמַעַן֮ יֵדְע֣וּ דֹרֹֽתֵיכֶם֒ כִּ֣י בַסֻּכּ֗וֹת הוֹשַׁ֨בְתִּי֙ אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּהוֹצִיאִ֥י אוֹתָ֖ם מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אֲנִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed festivals of the LORD.

וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶת־מֹעֲדֵ֖י יְהוָ֑ה אֶל־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃פ
