Chapter 6
1
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tza֤v 'eֽt-'aharon֙ ve'et-bּana֣yv le'mo֔r zo֥'t tּora֖t ha'ola֑h hi֣v ha'ola֡h 'al֩ moqeda֨h 'al-hamּizebּe֤cha kּal-halּa֨yelah֙ 'ad-habּo֔qer ve'e֥shsh hamּizebּe֖cha tּ֥uqad bּֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"If anyone sins and acts unfaithfully against the LORD by deceiving a neighbour about something entrusted to them or left in their care, or by stealing, or by cheating them,

צַ֤ו אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ וְאֶת־בָּנָ֣יו לֵאמֹ֔ר זֹ֥את תּוֹרַ֖ת הָעֹלָ֑ה הִ֣וא הָעֹלָ֡ה עַל֩ מוֹקְדָ֨ה עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֤חַ כָּל־הַלַּ֨יְלָה֙ עַד־הַבֹּ֔קֶר וְאֵ֥שׁ הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ תּ֥וּקַד בּֽוֹ׃

3
Phonetic (Hebrew): velaba֨shsh hakּohe֜n midּ֣o ba֗d umiֽkenesey-bad֮ yilebּa֣shsh 'al-bּeshsaro֒ veheri֣ym 'et-hadּe֗shshen 'ashshe֨r tּo'ka֥l ha'e֛shsh 'et-ha'ola֖h 'al-hamּizebּe֑cha veshsam֕o 'e֖tzel hamּizebּeֽcha׃
Edified Edition (EDE)or if they find lost property and lie about it, or swear falsely regarding any such sin that people commit,

וְלָבַ֨שׁ הַכֹּהֵ֜ן מִדּ֣וֹ בַ֗ד וּמִֽכְנְסֵי־בַד֮ יִלְבַּ֣שׁ עַל־בְּשָׂרוֹ֒ וְהֵרִ֣ים אֶת־הַדֶּ֗שֶׁן אֲשֶׁ֨ר תֹּאכַ֥ל הָאֵ֛שׁ אֶת־הָעֹלָ֖ה עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וְשָׂמ֕וֹ אֵ֖צֶל הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

4
Phonetic (Hebrew): upashshat֙ 'et-bּegada֔yv velaba֖shsh bּegadi֣ym 'acheri֑ym vehotzi֤y 'et-hadּe֨shshen֙ 'el-mich֣utz laֽmּachane֔h 'el-maq֖om tahֽor׃
Edified Edition (EDE)when they sin in this way and realize their guilt, they must return what they stole or took by extortion, or what was entrusted to them, or the lost property they found,

וּפָשַׁט֙ אֶת־בְּגָדָ֔יו וְלָבַ֖שׁ בְּגָדִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים וְהוֹצִ֤יא אֶת־הַדֶּ֨שֶׁן֙ אֶל־מִח֣וּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה אֶל־מָק֖וֹם טָהֽוֹר׃

5
Phonetic (Hebrew): veha'e֨shsh 'al-hamּizebּe֤cha tּֽuqad-bּo֙ lo֣ tikebּe֔h ubi'e֨r 'ale֧yha hakּohe֛n 'etzi֖ym bּabּo֣qer bּabּo֑qer ve'ara֤ke 'ale֨yha֙ haֽ'ola֔h vehiqeti֥yr 'ale֖yha chelebe֥y hashshּelamiֽym׃
Edified Edition (EDE)or whatever it was they swore falsely about. They must make restitution in full, add a fifth of the value to it, and give it all to the owner on the day they present their guilt offering.

וְהָאֵ֨שׁ עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֤חַ תּֽוּקַד־בּוֹ֙ לֹ֣א תִכְבֶּ֔ה וּבִעֵ֨ר עָלֶ֧יהָ הַכֹּהֵ֛ן עֵצִ֖ים בַּבֹּ֣קֶר בַּבֹּ֑קֶר וְעָרַ֤ךְ עָלֶ֨יהָ֙ הָֽעֹלָ֔ה וְהִקְטִ֥יר עָלֶ֖יהָ חֶלְבֵ֥י הַשְּׁלָמִֽים׃

6
Phonetic (Hebrew): e֗shsh tּami֛yd tּuqa֥d 'al-hamּizebּe֖cha lo֥ tikebeֽh׃s
Edified Edition (EDE)And as a penalty they must bring to the priest, as a guilt offering to the LORD, a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value.

אֵ֗שׁ תָּמִ֛יד תּוּקַ֥ד עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ לֹ֥א תִכְבֶֽה׃ס

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): vezo֥'t tּora֖t hamּinecha֑h haqere֨b 'ota֤hּ bּeneֽy-'aharon֙ lipene֣y yehva֔h 'el-pּene֖y hamּizebּeֽcha׃
Edified Edition (EDE)In this way, the priest will make atonement for them before the LORD, and they will be forgiven for any of the things they did that made them guilty."

וְזֹ֥את תּוֹרַ֖ת הַמִּנְחָ֑ה הַקְרֵ֨ב אֹתָ֤הּ בְּנֵֽי־אַהֲרֹן֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־פְּנֵ֖י הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): veheri֨ym mimּe֜nּu bּequmetz֗o misּo֤let hamּinechah֙ umishshּamena֔hּ ve'et֙ kּal-halּebona֔h 'ashshe֖r 'al-hamּinecha֑h vehiqeti֣yr hamּizebּe֗cha re֧ycha niycho֛cha 'azekּarata֖hּ layhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

וְהֵרִ֨ים מִמֶּ֜נּוּ בְּקֻמְצ֗וֹ מִסֹּ֤לֶת הַמִּנְחָה֙ וּמִשַּׁמְנָ֔הּ וְאֵת֙ כָּל־הַלְּבֹנָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־הַמִּנְחָ֑ה וְהִקְטִ֣יר הַמִּזְבֵּ֗חַ רֵ֧יחַ נִיחֹ֛חַ אַזְכָּרָתָ֖הּ לַיהוָֽה׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehanּote֣ret mimּe֔nּah yo'kel֖u 'aharo֣n ubana֑yv matzּ֤ot tּeֽ'akel֙ bּemaq֣om qado֔shsh bּachatza֥r 'oֽhel-mo'e֖d yo'kelֽuha׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Give Aaron and his sons this command: ‘These are the regulations for the burnt offering: The burnt offering is to remain on the altar hearth throughout the night, till morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar.

וְהַנּוֹתֶ֣רֶת מִמֶּ֔נָּה יֹאכְל֖וּ אַהֲרֹ֣ן וּבָנָ֑יו מַצּ֤וֹת תֵּֽאָכֵל֙ בְּמָק֣וֹם קָדֹ֔שׁ בַּחֲצַ֥ר אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵ֖ד יֹאכְלֽוּהָ׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): lo֤ te'apeh֙ chame֔tz cheleqa֛m nata֥tּiy 'ota֖hּ me'ishshּa֑y qo֤deshsh qaֽdashshiym֙ hi֔v kּachatּa֖'t veka'ashshaֽm׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest shall then put on his linen clothes, with linen undergarments next to his body, and shall remove the ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar and place them beside the altar.

לֹ֤א תֵאָפֶה֙ חָמֵ֔ץ חֶלְקָ֛ם נָתַ֥תִּי אֹתָ֖הּ מֵאִשָּׁ֑י קֹ֤דֶשׁ קָֽדָשִׁים֙ הִ֔וא כַּחַטָּ֖את וְכָאָשָֽׁם׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּal-zaka֞r bּibene֤y 'aharon֙ yoֽ'kale֔nּah chaq-'olam֙ ledoro֣teyke֔m me'ishshּe֖y yehva֑h kּo֛l 'ashsher-yigּa֥ bּahe֖m yiqedּaֽshsh׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he is to take off these clothes and put on others, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a place that is ceremonially clean.

כָּל־זָכָ֞ר בִּבְנֵ֤י אַהֲרֹן֙ יֹֽאכֲלֶ֔נָּה חָק־עוֹלָם֙ לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם מֵאִשֵּׁ֖י יְהוָ֑ה כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־יִגַּ֥ע בָּהֶ֖ם יִקְדָּֽשׁ׃פ

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the peace offerings on it.

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): ze֡h qarebּan֩ 'aharo֨n ubana֜yv 'ashsher-yaqeri֣ybu laֽyhva֗h bּeyom֙ himּashsha֣ch 'ot֔o 'ashsiyri֨t ha'epa֥h so֛let minecha֖h tּami֑yd machatziyta֣hּ bּabּo֔qer umachatziyta֖hּ bּa'aֽreb׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.

זֶ֡ה קָרְבַּן֩ אַהֲרֹ֨ן וּבָנָ֜יו אֲשֶׁר־יַקְרִ֣יבוּ לַֽיהוָ֗ה בְּיוֹם֙ הִמָּשַׁ֣ח אֹת֔וֹ עֲשִׂירִ֨ת הָאֵפָ֥ה סֹ֛לֶת מִנְחָ֖ה תָּמִ֑יד מַחֲצִיתָ֣הּ בַּבֹּ֔קֶר וּמַחֲצִיתָ֖הּ בָּעָֽרֶב׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): aֽl-machaba֗t bּashshּe֛men tּe'ashse֖h murebּe֣ket tּebiy'e֑nּah tּupiyney֙ minecha֣t pּitּi֔ym tּaqeri֥yb reֽycha-niycho֖cha layhvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)‘These are the regulations for the grain offering: Aaron’s sons are to present it before the LORD, in front of the altar.

עַֽל־מַחֲבַ֗ת בַּשֶּׁ֛מֶן תֵּעָשֶׂ֖ה מֻרְבֶּ֣כֶת תְּבִיאֶ֑נָּה תֻּפִינֵי֙ מִנְחַ֣ת פִּתִּ֔ים תַּקְרִ֥יב רֵֽיחַ־נִיחֹ֖חַ לַיהוָֽה׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): vehakּohe֨n hamּashshi֧ycha tּachetּa֛yv mibּana֖yv ya'ashse֣h 'ota֑hּ chaq-'ola֕m layhva֖h kּali֥yl tּaqetaֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The priest is to take a handful of the finest flour and some olive oil, together with all the frankincense on the grain offering, and burn the memorial portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

וְהַכֹּהֵ֨ן הַמָּשִׁ֧יחַ תַּחְתָּ֛יו מִבָּנָ֖יו יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה אֹתָ֑הּ חָק־עוֹלָ֕ם לַיהוָ֖ה כָּלִ֥יל תָּקְטָֽר׃

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): vekal-minecha֥t kּohe֛n kּali֥yl tּiheye֖h lo֥ te'akeֽl׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Aaron and his sons shall eat the rest of it, but it is to be eaten without yeast in a holy place; they are to eat it in the courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.

וְכָל־מִנְחַ֥ת כֹּהֵ֛ן כָּלִ֥יל תִּהְיֶ֖ה לֹ֥א תֵאָכֵֽל׃פ

17
Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֥r yehva֖h 'el-moshshe֥h lּe'moֽr׃
Edified Edition (EDE)It must not be baked with yeast; I have given it as their share of the food offerings presented to me. Like the sin offering and the guilt offering, it is most holy.

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

18
Phonetic (Hebrew): dּabּe֤r 'eֽl-'aharon֙ ve'el-bּana֣yv le'mo֔r zo֥'t tּora֖t haֽchatּa֑'t bּimeq֡om 'ashsher֩ tּishshּache֨t ha'ola֜h tּishshּache֤t haֽchatּa't֙ lipene֣y yehva֔h qo֥deshsh qֽadashshi֖ym hiֽv'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Any male descendant of Aaron may eat it. For generations to come, this will be his share of the food offerings presented to the LORD. Whatever touches them will become holy.’"

דַּבֵּ֤ר אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹן֙ וְאֶל־בָּנָ֣יו לֵאמֹ֔ר זֹ֥את תּוֹרַ֖ת הַֽחַטָּ֑את בִּמְק֡וֹם אֲשֶׁר֩ תִּשָּׁחֵ֨ט הָעֹלָ֜ה תִּשָּׁחֵ֤ט הַֽחַטָּאת֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה קֹ֥דֶשׁ קָֽדָשִׁ֖ים הִֽוא׃

19
Phonetic (Hebrew): hakּohe֛n haֽmechatּe֥ 'ota֖hּ yo'kale֑nּah bּemaq֤om qadoshsh֙ tּeֽ'ake֔l bּachatza֖r 'o֥hel mo'eֽd׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD also said to Moses,

הַכֹּהֵ֛ן הַֽמְחַטֵּ֥א אֹתָ֖הּ יֹאכֲלֶ֑נָּה בְּמָק֤וֹם קָדֹשׁ֙ תֵּֽאָכֵ֔ל בַּחֲצַ֖ר אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃

20
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֛l 'ashsher-yigּa֥ bּibeshsara֖hּ yiqedּa֑shsh va'ashshe֨r yizּe֤h midּamahּ֙ 'al-habּe֔ged 'ashsher֙ yizּe֣h 'ale֔yha tּekabּe֖s bּemaq֥om qadoֽshsh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"This is the offering Aaron and his sons are to bring to the LORD on the day he is anointed: a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half in the evening.

כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־יִגַּ֥ע בִּבְשָׂרָ֖הּ יִקְדָּ֑שׁ וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר יִזֶּ֤ה מִדָּמָהּ֙ עַל־הַבֶּ֔גֶד אֲשֶׁר֙ יִזֶּ֣ה עָלֶ֔יהָ תְּכַבֵּ֖ס בְּמָק֥וֹם קָדֹֽשׁ׃

21
Phonetic (Hebrew): ukeliy-che֛reshs 'ashshe֥r tּebushshּal-bּ֖o yishshּabe֑r ve'im-bּikeli֤y necho֨shshet֙ bּushshּa֔lah umora֥q veshshutּa֖p bּamּaֽyim׃
Edified Edition (EDE)It must be prepared with oil on a griddle; bring it well-mixed and present the grain offering broken in pieces as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

וּכְלִי־חֶ֛רֶשׂ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תְּבֻשַּׁל־בּ֖וֹ יִשָּׁבֵ֑ר וְאִם־בִּכְלִ֤י נְחֹ֨שֶׁת֙ בֻּשָּׁ֔לָה וּמֹרַ֥ק וְשֻׁטַּ֖ף בַּמָּֽיִם׃

22
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּal-zaka֥r bּakּohani֖ym yo'ka֣l 'ota֑hּ qo֥deshsh qֽadashshi֖ym hiֽv'׃
Edified Edition (EDE)The son who is to succeed him as anointed priest shall prepare it. It is the LORD’s share and is to be burned completely.

כָּל־זָכָ֥ר בַּכֹּהֲנִ֖ים יֹאכַ֣ל אֹתָ֑הּ קֹ֥דֶשׁ קָֽדָשִׁ֖ים הִֽוא׃

23
Phonetic (Hebrew): vekal-chatּa֡'t 'ashsher֩ yuba֨ midּama֜hּ 'el-'o֧hel mo'e֛d lekapּe֥r bּaqּo֖deshsh lo֣ te'ake֑l bּa'e֖shsh tּishsּareֽp׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Every grain offering of a priest shall be burned completely; it must not be eaten."

וְכָל־חַטָּ֡את אֲשֶׁר֩ יוּבָ֨א מִדָּמָ֜הּ אֶל־אֹ֧הֶל מוֹעֵ֛ד לְכַפֵּ֥ר בַּקֹּ֖דֶשׁ לֹ֣א תֵאָכֵ֑ל בָּאֵ֖שׁ תִּשָּׂרֵֽף׃פ
