Micah

Chapter 2

Phonetic (Hebrew): h֧oy choֽshshebey-'a֛ven upo֥'aley ra֖ 'al-mishshekּebota֑m bּe'֤or habּo֨qer֙ ya'ashs֔uha kּi֥y yeshsh-le'e֖l yadaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

ה֧וֹי חֹֽשְׁבֵי־אָ֛וֶן וּפֹ֥עֲלֵי רָ֖ע עַל־מִשְׁכְּבוֹתָ֑ם בְּא֤וֹר הַבֹּ֨קֶר֙ יַעֲשׂ֔וּהָ כִּ֥י יֶשׁ־לְאֵ֖ל יָדָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vechamed֤u shsadot֙ vegaza֔lu ubatּi֖ym venashsa֑'u ve'aֽshshequ֙ gּe֣ber ubeyt֔o ve'i֖yshsh venachalatֽo׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

וְחָמְד֤וּ שָׂדוֹת֙ וְגָזָ֔לוּ וּבָתִּ֖ים וְנָשָׂ֑אוּ וְעָֽשְׁקוּ֙ גֶּ֣בֶר וּבֵית֔וֹ וְאִ֖ישׁ וְנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): lake֗n kּo֚h 'ama֣r yehva֔h hineni֥y choshshe֛b 'al-hamּishshepּacha֥h hazּo֖'t ra'a֑h 'a֠shsher loֽ'-tami֨yshshu mishshּa֜m tzaue'roֽteyke֗m velo֤ teֽleku֙ roma֔h kּi֛y 'e֥t ra'a֖h hiֽy'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore thus says the LORD; "Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which you shall not remove your necks; neither shall you go haughtily: for this time is evil."

לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנְנִ֥י חֹשֵׁ֛ב עַל־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את רָעָ֑ה אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹֽא־תָמִ֨ישׁוּ מִשָּׁ֜ם צַוְּארֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם וְלֹ֤א תֵֽלְכוּ֙ רוֹמָ֔ה כִּ֛י עֵ֥ת רָעָ֖ה הִֽיא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּayּ֨om hah֜u yishsּa֧ 'aleyke֣m mashsha֗l venaha֨h nehi֤y niֽheyah֙ 'amar֙ shshad֣od neshshadּu֔nu che֥leq 'amּi֖y yami֑yr 'e֚yke yami֣yshsh li֔y leshshobe֥b shsade֖ynu yechalּeֽq׃

Edified Edition (EDE)In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, "We be utterly spoiled: He has changed the portion of My people: how has He removed it from me! turning away He has divided our fields."

בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יִשָּׂ֧א עֲלֵיכֶ֣ם מָשָׁ֗ל וְנָהָ֨ה נְהִ֤י נִֽהְיָה֙ אָמַר֙ שָׁד֣וֹד נְשַׁדֻּ֔נוּ חֵ֥לֶק עַמִּ֖י יָמִ֑יר אֵ֚יךְ יָמִ֣ישׁ לִ֔י לְשׁוֹבֵ֥ב שָׂדֵ֖ינוּ יְחַלֵּֽק׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): laken֙ loֽ'-yiֽheye֣h leka֔ mashsheli֥yke che֖bel bּegora֑l bּiqeha֖l yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore you shall have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD.

לָכֵן֙ לֹֽא־יִֽהְיֶ֣ה לְךָ֔ מַשְׁלִ֥יךְ חֶ֖בֶל בְּגוֹרָ֑ל בִּקְהַ֖ל יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-tּatּi֖pu yatּiyp֑un loֽ'-yatּi֣pu la'e֔lּeh lo֥ yisּa֖g kּelimּֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Prophesy you not," say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

אַל־תַּטִּ֖פוּ יַטִּיפ֑וּן לֹֽא־יַטִּ֣פוּ לָאֵ֔לֶּה לֹ֥א יִסַּ֖ג כְּלִמּֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): he'am֣ur bּeֽyt-ya'aqo֗b haqatzar֙ r֣ucha yehva֔h 'im-'e֖lּeh ma'alala֑yv hal֤o debara֨y yeyti֔ybu 'i֖m hayּashsha֥r holeֽke׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O you that are named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these His doings? do not My words do good to him that walks uprightly?

הֶאָמ֣וּר בֵּֽית־יַעֲקֹ֗ב הֲקָצַר֙ ר֣וּחַ יְהוָ֔ה אִם־אֵ֖לֶּה מַעֲלָלָ֑יו הֲל֤וֹא דְבָרַ֨י יֵיטִ֔יבוּ עִ֖ם הַיָּשָׁ֥ר הוֹלֵֽךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'etem֗ul 'amּiy֙ le'oye֣b yeqome֔m mimּ֣ul shsalema֔h 'e֖der tּapeshshit֑un me'oberi֣ym bּe֔tach shshube֖y milechamaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Even of late My people is risen up as an enemy: you pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.

וְאֶתְמ֗וּל עַמִּי֙ לְאוֹיֵ֣ב יְקוֹמֵ֔ם מִמּ֣וּל שַׂלְמָ֔ה אֶ֖דֶר תַּפְשִׁט֑וּן מֵעֹבְרִ֣ים בֶּ֔טַח שׁוּבֵ֖י מִלְחָמָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): neshshe֤y 'amּiy֙ tּega֣reshsh֔un mibּe֖yt tּaֽ'anuge֑yha me'al֙ 'oֽlale֔yha tּiqech֥u hadari֖y le'olaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The women of My people have you cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have you taken away My glory forever.

נְשֵׁ֤י עַמִּי֙ תְּגָ֣רְשׁ֔וּן מִבֵּ֖ית תַּֽעֲנֻגֶ֑יהָ מֵעַל֙ עֹֽלָלֶ֔יהָ תִּקְח֥וּ הֲדָרִ֖י לְעוֹלָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): q֣umu ulek֔u kּi֥y lo'-zo֖'t hamּenucha֑h bּa'ab֥ur tame'a֛h tּechabּe֖l veche֥bel nimeraֽtz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Arise you, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

ק֣וּמוּ וּלְכ֔וּ כִּ֥י לֹא־זֹ֖את הַמְּנוּחָ֑ה בַּעֲב֥וּר טָמְאָ֛ה תְּחַבֵּ֖ל וְחֶ֥בֶל נִמְרָֽץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lu-'i֞yshsh hole֥ke r֨ucha֙ vashshe֣qer kּizּe֔b 'atּi֣p leka֔ layּa֖yin velashshּeka֑r vehaya֥h matּi֖yp ha'a֥m hazּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, "I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;" he shall even be the prophet of this people.

לוּ־אִ֞ישׁ הֹלֵ֥ךְ ר֨וּחַ֙ וָשֶׁ֣קֶר כִּזֵּ֔ב אַטִּ֣ף לְךָ֔ לַיַּ֖יִן וְלַשֵּׁכָ֑ר וְהָיָ֥ה מַטִּ֖יף הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): aso֨p 'e'eso֜p ya'aqo֣b kּulּa֗ke qabּe֤tz 'aqabּetz֙ shshe'eri֣yt yishsera'e֔l ya֥chad 'ashsiyme֖nּu kּetzo֣'n bּatzera֑h kּe'e֨der֙ bּet֣oke hadּaֽber֔o tּehiyme֖nah me'adaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of you; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.

אָסֹ֨ף אֶאֱסֹ֜ף יַעֲקֹ֣ב כֻּלָּ֗ךְ קַבֵּ֤ץ אֲקַבֵּץ֙ שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יַ֥חַד אֲשִׂימֶ֖נּוּ כְּצֹ֣אן בָּצְרָ֑ה כְּעֵ֨דֶר֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַדָּֽבְר֔וֹ תְּהִימֶ֖נָה מֵאָדָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ala֤h hapּoretz֙ lipeneyhe֔m pּaֽretzu֙ vaֽyּa'abo֔ru shsha֖'ar vayּe֣tze'u b֑o vayּa'abo֤r malekּam֙ lipeneyhe֔m vayhva֖h bּero'shshaֽm׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.

עָלָ֤ה הַפֹּרֵץ֙ לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם פָּֽרְצוּ֙ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֔רוּ שַׁ֖עַר וַיֵּ֣צְאוּ ב֑וֹ וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר מַלְכָּם֙ לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם וַיהוָ֖ה בְּרֹאשָֽׁם׃פ
