Chapter 4

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaya֣h ׀ bּe'achari֣yt hayּami֗ym yi֠heyeh ha֣r bּeyt-yehva֤h nakon֙ bּero֣'shsh hehari֔ym venishsּa֥ h֖u migּeba'֑ot venahar֥u 'ala֖yv 'amּiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.

וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית הַיָּמִ֗ים יִ֠הְיֶה הַ֣ר בֵּית־יְהוָ֤ה נָכוֹן֙ בְּרֹ֣אשׁ הֶהָרִ֔ים וְנִשָּׂ֥א ה֖וּא מִגְּבָע֑וֹת וְנָהֲר֥וּ עָלָ֖יו עַמִּֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veֽhalek֞u gּoyi֣m rabּi֗ym ve'aֽmeru֙ lek֣u ׀ vena'ale֣h 'el-har-yehva֗h ve'el-bּeyt֙ 'elohe֣y ya'aqo֔b veyore֨nu֙ midּeraka֔yv veneleka֖h bּe'oֽrechota֑yv kּi֤y mitzּiyּon֙ tּetze֣ tora֔h udebar-yehva֖h miyrushshalaiֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And many nations shall come, and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths:" for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

וְֽהָלְכ֞וּ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֗ים וְאָֽמְרוּ֙ לְכ֣וּ ׀ וְנַעֲלֶ֣ה אֶל־הַר־יְהוָ֗ה וְאֶל־בֵּית֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְיוֹרֵ֨נוּ֙ מִדְּרָכָ֔יו וְנֵלְכָ֖ה בְּאֹֽרְחֹתָ֑יו כִּ֤י מִצִּיּוֹן֙ תֵּצֵ֣א תוֹרָ֔ה וּדְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה מִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshapa֗t bּe֚yn 'amּi֣ym rabּi֔ym vehoki֛ycha legoyi֥m 'atzumi֖ym 'ad-rach֑oq vekitּet֨u chareboteyhe֜m le'itּi֗ym vachaniytoֽteyhem֙ lemazemer֔ot loֽ'-yishse'֞u gּ֤oy 'el-gּoy֙ che֔reb velo'-yilemed֥un '֖od milechamaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And He shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

וְשָׁפַ֗ט בֵּ֚ין עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים וְהוֹכִ֛יחַ לְגוֹיִ֥ם עֲצֻמִ֖ים עַד־רָח֑וֹק וְכִתְּת֨וּ חַרְבֹתֵיהֶ֜ם לְאִתִּ֗ים וַחֲנִיתֹֽתֵיהֶם֙ לְמַזְמֵר֔וֹת לֹֽא־יִשְׂא֞וּ גּ֤וֹי אֶל־גּוֹי֙ חֶ֔רֶב וְלֹא־יִלְמְד֥וּן ע֖וֹד מִלְחָמָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veyashsheb֗u 'i֣yshsh tּa֧chat gּapen֛o veta֥chat tּe'enat֖o ve'e֣yn machari֑yd kּiy-pi֛y yehva֥h tzeba'֖ot dּibּeֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken it.

וְיָשְׁב֗וּ אִ֣ישׁ תַּ֧חַת גַּפְנ֛וֹ וְתַ֥חַת תְּאֵנָת֖וֹ וְאֵ֣ין מַחֲרִ֑יד כִּי־פִ֛י יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת דִּבֵּֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֚y kּal-ha֣'amּi֔ym yelek֕u 'i֖yshsh bּeshshe֣m 'eloha֑yv va'ana֗chenu nele֛ke bּeshshem-yehva֥h 'elohe֖ynu le'ola֥m va'eֽd׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.

כִּ֚י כָּל־הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים יֵלְכ֕וּ אִ֖ישׁ בְּשֵׁ֣ם אֱלֹהָ֑יו וַאֲנַ֗חְנוּ נֵלֵ֛ךְ בְּשֵׁם־יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּayּ֨om hah֜u ne'um-yehva֗h 'oֽsepah֙ hatzּo֣le'a֔h vehanּidּacha֖h 'aqabּe֑tzah va'ashshe֖r hare'oֽtiy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"In that day," says the LORD, "will I assemble her that halts, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;"

בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא נְאֻם־יְהוָ֗ה אֹֽסְפָה֙ הַצֹּ֣לֵעָ֔ה וְהַנִּדָּחָ֖ה אֲקַבֵּ֑צָה וַאֲשֶׁ֖ר הֲרֵעֹֽתִי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshsametּi֤y 'et-hatzּoֽle'ah֙ lishshe'eri֔yt vehanּahala'a֖h leg֣oy 'atz֑um umala֨ke yehva֤h 'aleyhem֙ bּeha֣r tziyּ֔on me'atּa֖h ve'ad-'olaֽm׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even forever."

וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י אֶת־הַצֹּֽלֵעָה֙ לִשְׁאֵרִ֔ית וְהַנַּהֲלָאָ֖ה לְג֣וֹי עָצ֑וּם וּמָלַ֨ךְ יְהוָ֤ה עֲלֵיהֶם֙ בְּהַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹן מֵעַתָּ֖ה וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'atּa֣h migedּal-'e֗der 'o֛pel bּat-tziyּ֖on 'ade֣yka tּe'te֑h uba'a֗h hamּemeshshalah֙ hari֣'shshona֔h mamele֖ket leba֥t-yerushshalaiֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And you, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, to you shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.

וְאַתָּ֣ה מִגְדַּל־עֵ֗דֶר עֹ֛פֶל בַּת־צִיּ֖וֹן עָדֶ֣יךָ תֵּאתֶ֑ה וּבָאָ֗ה הַמֶּמְשָׁלָה֙ הָרִ֣אשֹׁנָ֔ה מַמְלֶ֖כֶת לְבַ֥ת־יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): atּa֕h la֥mּah tari֖y'iy re֑'a hame֣leke 'eֽyn-bּa֗ke 'iֽm-yo'atzeke֙ 'aba֔d kּiֽy-hecheziyqe֥ke chi֖yl kּayּoledaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Now why dost you cry out aloud? is there no king in you? is your counsellor perished? for pangs have taken you as a woman in travail.

עַתָּ֕ה לָ֥מָּה תָרִ֖יעִי רֵ֑עַ הֲמֶ֣לֶךְ אֵֽין־בָּ֗ךְ אִֽם־יוֹעֲצֵךְ֙ אָבָ֔ד כִּֽי־הֶחֱזִיקֵ֥ךְ חִ֖יל כַּיּוֹלֵדָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ch֧uliy vago֛chiy bּat-tziyּ֖on kּayּֽoleda֑h kּiֽy-'atּah֩ tetze'i֨y miqּireya֜h veshshaka֣netּe bּashsּade֗h uba֤'t 'ad-bּabel֙ shsha֣m tּinּatze֔liy shsha֚m yige'ale֣ke yehva֔h mikּa֖p 'oyebaֽyike׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shall you go forth out of the city, and you shall dwell in the field, and you shall go even to Babylon; there shall you be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem you from the hand of your enemies.

ח֧וּלִי וָגֹ֛חִי בַּת־צִיּ֖וֹן כַּיּֽוֹלֵדָ֑ה כִּֽי־עַתָּה֩ תֵצְאִ֨י מִקִּרְיָ֜ה וְשָׁכַ֣נְתְּ בַּשָּׂדֶ֗ה וּבָ֤את עַד־בָּבֶל֙ שָׁ֣ם תִּנָּצֵ֔לִי שָׁ֚ם יִגְאָלֵ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה מִכַּ֖ף אֹיְבָֽיִךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'atּa֛h ne'esep֥u 'ala֖yike gּoyi֣m rabּi֑ym ha'omeri֣ym tּechena֔p veta֥chaz bּetziyּ֖on 'eyneֽynu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Now also many nations are gathered against you, that say, "Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion."

וְעַתָּ֛ה נֶאֶסְפ֥וּ עָלַ֖יִךְ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֑ים הָאֹמְרִ֣ים תֶּחֱנָ֔ף וְתַ֥חַז בְּצִיּ֖וֹן עֵינֵֽינוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehe֗mּah lo֤ yaֽde'u֙ macheshsheb֣ot yehva֔h velo֥ hebi֖ynu 'atzat֑o kּi֥y qibּetza֖m kּe'ami֥yr gּoֽrenah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they His counsel: for He shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.

וְהֵ֗מָּה לֹ֤א יָֽדְעוּ֙ מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת יְהוָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א הֵבִ֖ינוּ עֲצָת֑וֹ כִּ֥י קִבְּצָ֖ם כֶּעָמִ֥יר גֹּֽרְנָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): q֧umiy vad֣oshshiy bat-tziyּ֗on kּiֽy-qarene֞ke 'ashsi֤ym bּarezel֙ uparesota֨yike֙ 'ashsi֣ym nechushsha֔h vahadiqּ֖ot 'amּi֣ym rabּi֑ym vehacharametּi֤y laֽyhvah֙ bּitze'a֔m vecheyla֖m la'ad֥on kּal-ha'aֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs brass: and you shall beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain to the LORD, and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.

ק֧וּמִי וָד֣וֹשִׁי בַת־צִיּ֗וֹן כִּֽי־קַרְנֵ֞ךְ אָשִׂ֤ים בַּרְזֶל֙ וּפַרְסֹתַ֨יִךְ֙ אָשִׂ֣ים נְחוּשָׁ֔ה וַהֲדִקּ֖וֹת עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וְהַחֲרַמְתִּ֤י לַֽיהוָה֙ בִּצְעָ֔ם וְחֵילָ֖ם לַאֲד֥וֹן כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

עַתָּה֙ תִּתְגֹּדְדִ֣י בַת־גְּד֔וּד מָצ֖וֹר שָׂ֣ם עָלֵ֑ינוּ בַּשֵּׁ֨בֶט֙ יַכּ֣וּ עַֽל־הַלְּחִ֔י אֵ֖ת שֹׁפֵ֥ט יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס
