Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֥'mer moshshe֖h 'el-bּene֣y yishsera'e֑l kּeko֛l 'ashsher-tziua֥h yehva֖h 'et-moshsheֽh׃p
Edified Edition (EDE)Moses said to the heads of the tribes of Israel: "This is what the LORD commands:

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כְּכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֤r moshsheh֙ 'el-ra'shshe֣y hamּatּ֔ot libene֥y yishsera'e֖l le'mo֑r ze֣h hadּaba֔r 'ashshe֖r tziua֥h yehvaֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.

וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־רָאשֵׁ֣י הַמַּטּ֔וֹת לִבְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר זֶ֣ה הַדָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָֽה׃

3
Phonetic (Hebrew): iyshsh֩ kּiֽy-yidּo֨r ne֜der laֽyhva֗h 'ֽo-hishshּa֤ba shshebu'ah֙ le'eso֤r 'isּar֙ 'al-napeshsh֔o lo֥ yache֖l dּebar֑o kּekal-hayּotze֥ mipּi֖yv ya'ashseֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"When a young woman still living in her father’s house makes a vow to the LORD or obligates herself by a pledge

אִישׁ֩ כִּֽי־יִדֹּ֨ר נֶ֜דֶר לַֽיהוָ֗ה אֽוֹ־הִשָּׁ֤בַע שְׁבֻעָה֙ לֶאְסֹ֤ר אִסָּר֙ עַל־נַפְשׁ֔וֹ לֹ֥א יַחֵ֖ל דְּבָר֑וֹ כְּכָל־הַיֹּצֵ֥א מִפִּ֖יו יַעֲשֶֽׂה׃

4
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'ishshּa֕h kּiֽy-tidּo֥r ne֖der layhva֑h ve'asera֥h 'isּa֛r bּebe֥yt 'abi֖yha bּine'ureֽyha׃
Edified Edition (EDE)and her father hears about her vow or pledge but says nothing to her, then all her vows and every pledge by which she obligated herself will stand.

וְאִשָּׁ֕ה כִּֽי־תִדֹּ֥ר נֶ֖דֶר לַיהוָ֑ה וְאָסְרָ֥ה אִסָּ֛ר בְּבֵ֥ית אָבִ֖יהָ בִּנְעֻרֶֽיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshama֨ 'abi֜yha 'et-nidera֗hּ vֽe'esarahּ֙ 'ashshe֣r 'ֽasera֣h 'al-napeshsha֔hּ vehecheri֥yshsh la֖hּ 'abi֑yha veqa֨mu֙ kּal-nedare֔yha vekal-'isּa֛r 'ashsher-'asera֥h 'al-napeshsha֖hּ yaqֽum׃
Edified Edition (EDE)But if her father forbids her when he hears about it, none of her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand; the LORD will release her because her father has forbidden her.

וְשָׁמַ֨ע אָבִ֜יהָ אֶת־נִדְרָ֗הּ וֶֽאֱסָרָהּ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָֽסְרָ֣ה עַל־נַפְשָׁ֔הּ וְהֶחֱרִ֥ישׁ לָ֖הּ אָבִ֑יהָ וְקָ֨מוּ֙ כָּל־נְדָרֶ֔יהָ וְכָל־אִסָּ֛ר אֲשֶׁר־אָסְרָ֥ה עַל־נַפְשָׁ֖הּ יָקֽוּם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-heni֨y 'abi֣yha 'otahּ֮ bּey֣om shshame'o֒ kּal-nedare֗yha vֽe'esare֛yha 'ashsher-'asera֥h 'al-napeshsha֖hּ lo֣ yaq֑um vaֽyhvah֙ yiֽselach-la֔hּ kּiy-heni֥y 'abi֖yha 'otaֽhּ׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"If she marries after she makes a vow or after her lips utter a rash promise by which she obligates herself,

וְאִם־הֵנִ֨יא אָבִ֣יהָ אֹתָהּ֮ בְּי֣וֹם שָׁמְעוֹ֒ כָּל־נְדָרֶ֗יהָ וֶֽאֱסָרֶ֛יהָ אֲשֶׁר־אָסְרָ֥ה עַל־נַפְשָׁ֖הּ לֹ֣א יָק֑וּם וַֽיהוָה֙ יִֽסְלַח־לָ֔הּ כִּי־הֵנִ֥יא אָבִ֖יהָ אֹתָֽהּ׃

7
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-hay֤o tiֽheyeh֙ le'i֔yshsh unedare֖yha 'ale֑yha '֚o mibeta֣ shsepate֔yha 'ashshe֥r 'asera֖h 'al-napeshshaֽhּ׃
Edified Edition (EDE)and her husband hears about it but says nothing to her, then her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand.

וְאִם־הָי֤וֹ תִֽהְיֶה֙ לְאִ֔ישׁ וּנְדָרֶ֖יהָ עָלֶ֑יהָ א֚וֹ מִבְטָ֣א שְׂפָתֶ֔יהָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָסְרָ֖ה עַל־נַפְשָֽׁהּ׃

8
Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshama֥ 'iyshsha֛hּ bּey֥om shshame'֖o vehecheri֣yshsh la֑hּ veqa֣mu nedare֗yha veֽ'esare֛ha 'ashsher-'asera֥h 'al-napeshsha֖hּ yaquֽmu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)But if her husband forbids her when he hears about it, he nullifies the vow that obligates her or the rash promise by which she obligates herself, and the LORD will release her.

וְשָׁמַ֥ע אִישָׁ֛הּ בְּי֥וֹם שָׁמְע֖וֹ וְהֶחֱרִ֣ישׁ לָ֑הּ וְקָ֣מוּ נְדָרֶ֗יהָ וֶֽאֱסָרֶ֛הָ אֲשֶׁר־אָסְרָ֥ה עַל־נַפְשָׁ֖הּ יָקֻֽמוּ׃

9
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve֠'im bּey֨om shshemo֣'a 'iyshshahּ֮ yani֣y 'otahּ֒ vehepe֗r 'et-niderahּ֙ 'ashshe֣r 'ale֔yha ve'et֙ mibeta֣ shsepate֔yha 'ashshe֥r 'asera֖h 'al-napeshsha֑hּ vayhva֖h yiֽselaֽch-laֽhּ׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"Any vow or obligation taken by a widow or divorced woman will be binding on her.

וְ֠אִם בְּי֨וֹם שְׁמֹ֣עַ אִישָׁהּ֮ יָנִ֣יא אוֹתָהּ֒ וְהֵפֵ֗ר אֶת־נִדְרָהּ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָלֶ֔יהָ וְאֵת֙ מִבְטָ֣א שְׂפָתֶ֔יהָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָסְרָ֖ה עַל־נַפְשָׁ֑הּ וַיהוָ֖ה יִֽסְלַֽח־לָֽהּ׃

10
Phonetic (Hebrew): vene֥der 'alemana֖h ugerushsha֑h kּo֛l 'ashsher-'asera֥h 'al-napeshsha֖hּ yaq֥um 'aleֽyha׃
Edified Edition (EDE)"If a woman living with her husband makes a vow or obligates herself by a pledge under oath

וְנֵ֥דֶר אַלְמָנָ֖ה וּגְרוּשָׁ֑ה כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־אָסְרָ֥ה עַל־נַפְשָׁ֖הּ יָק֥וּם עָלֶֽיהָ׃

11
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-bּe֥yt 'iyshsha֖hּ nada֑rah 'ֽo-'asera֥h 'isּa֛r 'al-napeshsha֖hּ bּishshebu'aֽh׃
Edified Edition (EDE)and her husband hears about it but says nothing to her and does not forbid her, then all her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand.

וְאִם־בֵּ֥ית אִישָׁ֖הּ נָדָ֑רָה אֽוֹ־אָסְרָ֥ה אִסָּ֛ר עַל־נַפְשָׁ֖הּ בִּשְׁבֻעָֽה׃

12
Phonetic (Hebrew): veshshama֤ 'iyshshahּ֙ vehecheri֣shsh la֔hּ lo֥ heni֖y 'ota֑hּ veqa֨mu֙ kּal-nedare֔yha vekal-'isּa֛r 'ashsher-'asera֥h 'al-napeshsha֖hּ yaqֽum׃
Edified Edition (EDE)But if her husband nullifies them when he hears about them, then none of the vows or pledges that came from her lips will stand. Her husband has nullified them, and the LORD will release her.

וְשָׁמַ֤ע אִישָׁהּ֙ וְהֶחֱרִ֣שׁ לָ֔הּ לֹ֥א הֵנִ֖יא אֹתָ֑הּ וְקָ֨מוּ֙ כָּל־נְדָרֶ֔יהָ וְכָל־אִסָּ֛ר אֲשֶׁר־אָסְרָ֥ה עַל־נַפְשָׁ֖הּ יָקֽוּם׃

13
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-haper֩ yape֨r 'ota֥m ׀ 'iyshshahּ֮ bּey֣om shshame'o֒ kּal-motza֨ shsepate֧yha linedare֛yha ule'isּa֥r napeshsha֖hּ lo֣ yaq֑um 'iyshsha֣hּ hapera֔m vayhva֖h yiֽselaֽch-laֽhּ׃
Edified Edition (EDE)Her husband may confirm or nullify any vow she makes or any sworn pledge to deny herself.

וְאִם־הָפֵר֩ יָפֵ֨ר אֹתָ֥ם ׀ אִישָׁהּ֮ בְּי֣וֹם שָׁמְעוֹ֒ כָּל־מוֹצָ֨א שְׂפָתֶ֧יהָ לִנְדָרֶ֛יהָ וּלְאִסַּ֥ר נַפְשָׁ֖הּ לֹ֣א יָק֑וּם אִישָׁ֣הּ הֲפֵרָ֔ם וַיהוָ֖ה יִֽסְלַֽח־לָֽהּ׃

14
Phonetic (Hebrew): kּal-ne֛der vekal-shshebu'a֥t 'isּa֖r le'anּo֣t na֑peshsh 'iyshsha֥hּ yeqiyme֖nּu ve'iyshsha֥hּ yepereֽnּu׃
Edified Edition (EDE)But if her husband says nothing to her from day today, then he confirms all her vows or the pledges binding on her. He confirms them by saying nothing to her when he hears about them.

כָּל־נֵ֛דֶר וְכָל־שְׁבֻעַ֥ת אִסָּ֖ר לְעַנֹּ֣ת נָ֑פֶשׁ אִישָׁ֥הּ יְקִימֶ֖נּוּ וְאִישָׁ֥הּ יְפֵרֶֽנּוּ׃

15
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-hachareshsh֩ yachari֨yshsh la֥hּ 'iyshshahּ֮ miyּ֣om 'el-yom֒ veheqiym֙ 'et-kּal-nedare֔yha '֥o 'et-kּal-'esare֖yha 'ashshe֣r 'ale֑yha heqi֣ym 'ota֔m kּiy-hecheri֥shsh la֖hּ bּey֥om shshame'ֽo׃
Edified Edition (EDE)If, however, he nullifies them some time after he hears about them, then he must bear the consequences of her iniquity."

וְאִם־הַחֲרֵשׁ֩ יַחֲרִ֨ישׁ לָ֥הּ אִישָׁהּ֮ מִיּ֣וֹם אֶל־יוֹם֒ וְהֵקִים֙ אֶת־כָּל־נְדָרֶ֔יהָ א֥וֹ אֶת־כָּל־אֱסָרֶ֖יהָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָלֶ֑יהָ הֵקִ֣ים אֹתָ֔ם כִּי־הֶחֱרִ֥שׁ לָ֖הּ בְּי֥וֹם שָׁמְעֽוֹ׃

16
Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-hape֥r yape֛r 'ota֖m 'achare֣y shshame'֑o venashsa֖ 'et-'avonaֽhּ׃
Edified Edition (EDE)These are the regulations the LORD gave Moses concerning relationships between a man and his wife, and between a father and his young daughter still living at home.

וְאִם־הָפֵ֥ר יָפֵ֛ר אֹתָ֖ם אַחֲרֵ֣י שָׁמְע֑וֹ וְנָשָׂ֖א אֶת־עֲוֺנָֽהּ׃

17

אֵ֣לֶּה הַֽחֻקִּ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֔ה בֵּ֥ין אִ֖ישׁ לְאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ בֵּֽין־אָ֣ב לְבִתּ֔וֹ בִּנְעֻרֶ֖יהָ בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽיהָ׃פ
