Chapter 33

Phonetic (Hebrew): e֜lּeh mase'e֣y beneֽy-yishsera'e֗l 'ashshe֥r yatze'֛u me'e֥retz mitzera֖yim letzibe'ota֑m bּeyad-moshshe֖h ve'aharoֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.

אֵ֜לֶּה מַסְעֵ֣י בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָצְא֛וּ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם לְצִבְאֹתָ֑ם בְּיַד־מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְאַהֲרֹֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּiketּo֨b moshshe֜h 'et-motza'eyhe֛m lemase'eyhe֖m 'al-pּi֣y yehva֑h ve'e֥lּeh mase'eyhe֖m lemotza'eyheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)At the LORD’s command Moses recorded the stages in their journey. This is their journey by stages:

וַיִּכְתֹּ֨ב מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת־מוֹצָאֵיהֶ֛ם לְמַסְעֵיהֶ֖ם עַל־פִּ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְאֵ֥לֶּה מַסְעֵיהֶ֖ם לְמוֹצָאֵיהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֤u meֽra'emeses֙ bּacho֣deshsh haֽri'shsh֔on bּachamishshּa֥h 'ashsa֛r y֖om lacho֣deshsh hari'shsh֑on miֽmּachora֣t hapּe֗sach yatze'֤u beneֽy-yishsera'el֙ bּeya֣d rama֔h le'eyne֖y kּal-mitzeraֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The Israelites set out from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the Passover. They marched out defiantly in full view of all the Egyptians,

וַיִּסְע֤וּ מֵֽרַעְמְסֵס֙ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֥ה עָשָׂ֛ר י֖וֹם לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן מִֽמָּחֳרַ֣ת הַפֶּ֗סַח יָצְא֤וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּיָ֣ד רָמָ֔ה לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־מִצְרָֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umitzera֣yim meqabּeri֗ym 'et֩ 'ashshe֨r hikּa֧h yehva֛h bּahe֖m kּal-bּek֑or ube'lo֣heyhe֔m 'ashsa֥h yehva֖h shshepatiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)who were burying all their firstborn, whom the LORD had struck down among them; for the LORD had brought judgement on their gods.

וּמִצְרַ֣יִם מְקַבְּרִ֗ים אֵת֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר הִכָּ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה בָּהֶ֖ם כָּל־בְּכ֑וֹר וּבֵאלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם עָשָׂ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה שְׁפָטִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֥u beneֽy-yishsera'e֖l mera'emese֑s vaֽyּachan֖u bּesukּoֽt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Sukkoth.

וַיִּסְע֥וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵרַעְמְסֵ֑ס וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּסֻכֹּֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u misּukּo֑t vayּachan֣u be'eta֔m 'ashshe֖r bּiqetze֥h hamּidebּaֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Sukkoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִסֻּכֹּ֑ת וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ בְאֵתָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר בִּקְצֵ֥ה הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'u֙ meֽ'eta֔m vayּa֨shshab֙ 'al-pּi֣y hachiyro֔t 'ashshe֥r 'al-pּene֖y bּa֣'al tzep֑on vaֽyּachan֖u lipene֥y migedּoֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Etham, turned back to Pi Hahiroth, to the east of Baal Zephon, and camped near Migdol.

וַיִּסְעוּ֙ מֵֽאֵתָ֔ם וַיָּ֨שָׁב֙ עַל־פִּ֣י הַחִירֹ֔ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־פְּנֵ֖י בַּ֣עַל צְפ֑וֹן וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י מִגְדֹּֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'u֙ mipּene֣y haֽchiyro֔t vayּaֽ'aber֥u betoke-hayּa֖m hamּidebּa֑rah vayּe֨lek֜u dּe֣reke shshelo֤shshet yamiym֙ bּemidebּa֣r 'eta֔m vaֽyּachan֖u bּemaraֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Pi Hahiroth and passed through the sea into the wilderness, and after a three-day journey through the Desert of Etham they camped at Marah.

וַיִּסְעוּ֙ מִפְּנֵ֣י הַֽחִירֹ֔ת וַיַּֽעַבְר֥וּ בְתוֹךְ־הַיָּ֖ם הַמִּדְבָּ֑רָה וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ דֶּ֣רֶךְ שְׁלֹ֤שֶׁת יָמִים֙ בְּמִדְבַּ֣ר אֵתָ֔ם וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּמָרָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'u֙ mimּara֔h vayּabo֖'u 'eyli֑mah u֠be'eylim shshetּe֣ym 'eshsere֞h 'eyno֥t ma֛yim veshshibe'i֥ym tּemari֖ym vayּachanu-shshaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Marah and came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there.

וַיִּסְעוּ֙ מִמָּרָ֔ה וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ אֵילִ֑מָה וּ֠בְאֵילִם שְׁתֵּ֣ים עֶשְׂרֵ֞ה עֵינֹ֥ת מַ֛יִם וְשִׁבְעִ֥ים תְּמָרִ֖ים וַיַּחֲנוּ־שָֽׁם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u me'eyli֑m vaֽyּachan֖u 'al-yam-sֽup׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Elim and camped by the Red Sea.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵאֵילִ֑ם וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ עַל־יַם־סֽוּף׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u miyּam-s֑up vaֽyּachan֖u bּemidebּar-siֽyn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left the Red Sea and camped in the Desert of Sin.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִיַּם־ס֑וּף וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּמִדְבַּר־סִֽין׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mimּidebּar-si֑yn vaֽyּachan֖u bּedapeqaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left the Desert of Sin and camped at Dophkah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִמִּדְבַּר־סִ֑ין וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּדָפְקָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u midּapeqa֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּe'alֽushsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Dophkah and camped at Alush.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִדָּפְקָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּאָלֽוּשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u me'al֑ushsh vaֽyּachanu֙ bּirepiydi֔m velo'-ha֨yah shsha֥m ma֛yim la'a֖m lishshetּֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Alush and camped at Rephidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵאָל֑וּשׁ וַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙ בִּרְפִידִ֔ם וְלֹא־הָ֨יָה שָׁ֥ם מַ֛יִם לָעָ֖ם לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u merepiydi֑m vaֽyּachan֖u bּemidebּa֥r siynaֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Rephidim and camped in the Desert of Sinai.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵרְפִידִ֑ם וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּמִדְבַּ֥ר סִינָֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mimּidebּa֣r siyna֑y vaֽyּachan֖u bּeqibero֥t haֽtּa'avaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left the Desert of Sinai and camped at Kibroth Hattaavah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִמִּדְבַּ֣ר סִינָ֑י וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּקִבְרֹ֥ת הַֽתַּאֲוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u miqּibero֣t haֽtּa'ava֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּachatzeroֽt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Kibroth Hattaavah and camped at Hazeroth.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִקִּבְרֹ֣ת הַֽתַּאֲוָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בַּחֲצֵרֹֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mechatzero֑t vaֽyּachan֖u bּeritemaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Hazeroth and camped at Rithmah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵחֲצֵרֹ֑ת וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּרִתְמָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u meritema֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּerimּo֥n pּaֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Rithmah and camped at Rimmon Perez.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵרִתְמָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּרִמֹּ֥ן פָּֽרֶץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u merimּo֣n pּa֑retz vaֽyּachan֖u bּelibenaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Rimmon Perez and camped at Libnah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵרִמֹּ֣ן פָּ֑רֶץ וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּלִבְנָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u milּibena֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּerisּaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Libnah and camped at Rissah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִלִּבְנָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּרִסָּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u merisּa֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּiqehelaֽtah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Rissah and camped at Kehelathah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵרִסָּ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בִּקְהֵלָֽתָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u miqּehela֑tah vaֽyּachan֖u bּehar-shshaֽper׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Kehelathah and camped at Mount Shepher.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִקְּהֵלָ֑תָה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּהַר־שָֽׁפֶר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u meֽhar-shsha֑per vaֽyּachan֖u bּacharadaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Mount Shepher and camped at Haradah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵֽהַר־שָׁ֑פֶר וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בַּחֲרָדָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mecharada֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּemaqeheloֽt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Haradah and camped at Makheloth.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵחֲרָדָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּמַקְהֵלֹֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mimּaqehelo֑t vaֽyּachan֖u bּetaֽchat׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Makheloth and camped at Tahath.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִמַּקְהֵלֹ֑ת וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּתָֽחַת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mitּa֑chat vaֽyּachan֖u bּetaֽrach׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Tahath and camped at Terah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִתָּ֑חַת וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּתָֽרַח׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mitּa֑rach vaֽyּachan֖u bּemiteqaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Terah and camped at Mithkah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִתָּ֑רַח וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּמִתְקָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mimּiteqa֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּechashshemonaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Mithkah and camped at Hashmonah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִמִּתְקָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּחַשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u meֽchashshemona֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּemoserֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Hashmonah and camped at Moseroth.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵֽחַשְׁמֹנָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּמֹסֵרֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mimּoser֑ot vaֽyּachan֖u bּibene֥y ya'aqaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Moseroth and camped at Bene Jaakan.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִמֹּסֵר֑וֹת וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בִּבְנֵ֥י יַעֲקָֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mibּene֣y ya'aqa֑n vaֽyּachan֖u bּecho֥r hagּidegּaֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Bene Jaakan and camped at Hor Haggidgad.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִבְּנֵ֣י יַעֲקָ֑ן וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּחֹ֥ר הַגִּדְגָּֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mecho֣r hagּidegּa֑d vaֽyּachan֖u bּeyatebaֽtah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Hor Haggidgad and camped at Jotbathah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵחֹ֣ר הַגִּדְגָּ֑ד וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּיָטְבָֽתָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u miyּateba֑tah vaֽyּachan֖u bּe'aberonaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Jotbathah and camped at Abronah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִיָּטְבָ֑תָה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּעַבְרֹנָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u meֽ'aberona֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּe'etzey֥on gּaֽber׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Abronah and camped at Ezion Geber.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵֽעַבְרֹנָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּעֶצְי֥וֹן גָּֽבֶר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u me'etzey֣on gּa֑ber vayּachan֥u bemidebּar-tzi֖n hi֥v qadeֽshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Ezion Geber and camped at Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵעֶצְי֣וֹן גָּ֑בֶר וַיַּחֲנ֥וּ בְמִדְבַּר־צִ֖ן הִ֥וא קָדֵֽשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u miqּade֑shsh vaֽyּachanu֙ bּeho֣r haha֔r bּiqetze֖h 'e֥retz 'edֽom׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Kadesh and camped at Mount Hor, on the border of Edom.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִקָּדֵ֑שׁ וַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙ בְּהֹ֣ר הָהָ֔ר בִּקְצֵ֖ה אֶ֥רֶץ אֱדֽוֹם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּa'al֩ 'aharo֨n hakּohe֜n 'el-ho֥r haha֛r 'al-pּi֥y yehva֖h vayּa֣mat shsha֑m bּishshena֣t haֽ'arebּa'i֗ym letze֤'t bּeneֽy-yishsera'el֙ me'e֣retz mitzera֔yim bּacho֥deshsh hachamiyshshi֖y bּe'echa֥d lachoֽdeshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)At the LORD’s command Aaron the priest went up Mount Hor, where he died on the first day of the fifth month of the fortieth year after the Israelites came out of Egypt.

וַיַּעַל֩ אַהֲרֹ֨ן הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אֶל־הֹ֥ר הָהָ֛ר עַל־פִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה וַיָּ֣מָת שָׁ֑ם בִּשְׁנַ֣ת הָֽאַרְבָּעִ֗ים לְצֵ֤את בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַחֲמִישִׁ֖י בְּאֶחָ֥ד לַחֹֽדֶשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'aharo֔n bּen-shshalo֧shsh ve'eshseri֛ym ume'a֖t shshana֑h bּemot֖o bּeho֥r hahaֽr׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Aaron was 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor.

וְאַהֲרֹ֔ן בֶּן־שָׁלֹ֧שׁ וְעֶשְׂרִ֛ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה בְּמֹת֖וֹ בְּהֹ֥ר הָהָֽר׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּishshema֗ haֽkּena'aniy֙ me֣leke 'ara֔d vehֽu'-yoshshe֥b bּanּe֖geb bּe'e֣retz kּena֑'an bּebo֖ bּene֥y yishsera'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev of Canaan, heard that the Israelites were coming.

וַיִּשְׁמַ֗ע הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ עֲרָ֔ד וְהֽוּא־יֹשֵׁ֥ב בַּנֶּ֖גֶב בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן בְּבֹ֖א בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u meho֣r haha֑r vaֽyּachan֖u bּetzalemonaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵהֹ֣ר הָהָ֑ר וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּצַלְמֹנָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mitzּalemona֑h vaֽyּachan֖u bּepunoֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Zalmonah and camped at Punon.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִצַּלְמֹנָ֑ה וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּפוּנֹֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mipּuno֑n vaֽyּachan֖u bּe'oboֽt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Punon and camped at Oboth.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִפּוּנֹ֑ן וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּאֹבֹֽת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u me'obo֑t vaֽyּachan֛u bּe'iyּe֥y ha'abari֖ym bּigeb֥ul mo'aֽb׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Oboth and camped at Iye Abarim, on the border of Moab.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵאֹבֹ֑ת וַֽיַּחֲנ֛וּ בְּעִיֵּ֥י הָעֲבָרִ֖ים בִּגְב֥וּל מוֹאָֽב׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u me'iyּi֑ym vaֽyּachan֖u bּediybo֥n gּaֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Iyim and camped at Dibon Gad.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵעִיִּ֑ים וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּדִיבֹ֥ן גָּֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u midּiybo֣n gּa֑d vaֽyּachan֖u bּe'alemo֥n dּibelataֽyemah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Dibon Gad and camped at Almon Diblathaim.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִדִּיבֹ֣ן גָּ֑ד וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּעַלְמֹ֥ן דִּבְלָתָֽיְמָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u me'alemo֣n dּibelata֑yemah vaֽyּachan֛u bּehare֥y ha'abari֖ym lipene֥y nebֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left Almon Diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim, near Nebo.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵעַלְמֹ֣ן דִּבְלָתָ֑יְמָה וַֽיַּחֲנ֛וּ בְּהָרֵ֥י הָעֲבָרִ֖ים לִפְנֵ֥י נְבֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּise'֖u mehare֣y ha'abari֑ym vaֽyּachanu֙ bּe'aֽrebo֣t mo'a֔b 'a֖l yaredּe֥n yerechֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They left the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.

וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵהָרֵ֣י הָעֲבָרִ֑ים וַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙ בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב עַ֖ל יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵחֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּachan֤u 'al-hayּaredּen֙ mibּe֣yt hayeshshimo֔t 'a֖d 'abe֣l hashshּitּi֑ym bּe'aֽrebo֖t mo'aֽb׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)There on the plains of Moab they camped along the Jordan from Beth Jeshimoth to Abel Shittim.

וַיַּחֲנ֤וּ עַל־הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ מִבֵּ֣ית הַיְשִׁמֹ֔ת עַ֖ד אָבֵ֣ל הַשִּׁטִּ֑ים בְּעַֽרְבֹ֖ת מוֹאָֽב׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayedabּe֧r yehva֛h 'el-moshshe֖h bּe'aֽrebo֣t mo'a֑b 'al-yaredּe֥n yerech֖o le'moֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho the LORD said to Moses,

וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֖ה בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֑ב עַל־יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵח֖וֹ לֵאמֹֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): dּabּer֙ 'el-bּene֣y yishsera'e֔l ve'amaretּa֖ 'alehe֑m kּi֥y 'atּe֛m 'oberi֥ym 'et-hayּaredּe֖n 'el-'e֥retz kּenaֽ'an׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you cross the Jordan into Canaan,

דַּבֵּר֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאָמַרְתָּ֖ אֲלֵהֶ֑ם כִּ֥י אַתֶּ֛ם עֹבְרִ֥ים אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veh֨orashshetּe֜m 'et-kּal-yoshshebe֤y ha'a֨retz֙ mipּeneyke֔m ve'i֨bּadetּe֔m 'e֖t kּal-mashsekּiyּota֑m ve'e֨t kּal-tzaleme֤y masּeֽkotam֙ tּe'abּe֔du ve'e֥t kּal-bּamota֖m tּashshemiֽydu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places.

וְה֨וֹרַשְׁתֶּ֜ם אֶת־כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֤י הָאָ֨רֶץ֙ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם וְאִ֨בַּדְתֶּ֔ם אֵ֖ת כָּל־מַשְׂכִּיֹּתָ֑ם וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־צַלְמֵ֤י מַסֵּֽכֹתָם֙ תְּאַבֵּ֔דוּ וְאֵ֥ת כָּל־בָּמֹתָ֖ם תַּשְׁמִֽידוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehorashshetּe֥m 'et-ha'a֖retz viֽyshshabetּem-bּa֑hּ kּi֥y lake֛m nata֥tּiy 'et-ha'a֖retz lare֥shshet 'otaֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.

וְהוֹרַשְׁתֶּ֥ם אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ וִֽישַׁבְתֶּם־בָּ֑הּ כִּ֥י לָכֶ֛ם נָתַ֥תִּי אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ לָרֶ֥שֶׁת אֹתָֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehitenachaletּem֩ 'et-ha'a֨retz bּegora֜l lemishshepּechoֽteyke֗m lara֞b tּarebּ֤u 'et-nachalato֙ velame'at֙ tּame'i֣yt 'et-nachalat֔o 'el֩ 'ashsher-ye֨tze l֥o shsha֛mּah hagּora֖l l֣o yiheye֑h lematּ֥ot 'aboteyke֖m tּitenechaֽlu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Distribute the land by lot, according to your clans. To a larger group give a larger inheritance, and to a smaller group a smaller one. Whatever falls to them by lot will be theirs. Distribute it according to your ancestral tribes.

וְהִתְנַחַלְתֶּם֩ אֶת־הָאָ֨רֶץ בְּגוֹרָ֜ל לְמִשְׁפְּחֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם לָרַ֞ב תַּרְבּ֤וּ אֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹ֙ וְלַמְעַט֙ תַּמְעִ֣יט אֶת־נַחֲלָת֔וֹ אֶל֩ אֲשֶׁר־יֵ֨צֵא ל֥וֹ שָׁ֛מָּה הַגּוֹרָ֖ל ל֣וֹ יִהְיֶ֑ה לְמַטּ֥וֹת אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֖ם תִּתְנֶחָֽלוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'im-lo֨ tori֜yshshu 'et-yoshshebe֣y ha'aretz֮ mipּeneykem֒ vehayah֙ 'ashshe֣r tּoti֣yru mehe֔m leshsikּiym֙ bּe'e֣yneyke֔m velitzeniyni֖m bּetzidּeyke֑m vetzarar֣u 'eteke֔m 'al-ha'a֕retz 'ashshe֥r 'atּe֖m yoshshebi֥ym bּaֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)" 'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live.

וְאִם־לֹ֨א תוֹרִ֜ישׁוּ אֶת־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָרֶץ֮ מִפְּנֵיכֶם֒ וְהָיָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תּוֹתִ֣ירוּ מֵהֶ֔ם לְשִׂכִּים֙ בְּעֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם וְלִצְנִינִ֖ם בְּצִדֵּיכֶ֑ם וְצָרֲר֣וּ אֶתְכֶ֔ם עַל־הָאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתֶּ֖ם יֹשְׁבִ֥ים בָּֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vehaya֗h kּa'ashshe֥r dּimּi֛ytiy la'ashs֥ot lahe֖m 'ֽe'eshse֥h lakeֽm׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)And then I will do to you what I plan to do to them.' "

וְהָיָ֗ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּמִּ֛יתִי לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לָהֶ֖ם אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה לָכֶֽם׃פ
