Chapter 10

Phonetic (Hebrew): lama֣h ye֭hvah tּa'amo֣d bּerach֑oq tּa֝'eli֗ym le'itּ֥ot bּatzּarֽah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Why do you stand far off, O LORD? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

לָמָ֣ה יְ֭הוָה תַּעֲמֹ֣ד בְּרָח֑וֹק תַּ֝עְלִ֗ים לְעִתּ֥וֹת בַּצָּרָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּega'ava֣t ra֭shsha yidela֣q 'ani֑y yitּapeshs֓u ׀ bּimezimּ֖ot z֣u chashshaֽbu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.

בְּגַאֲוַ֣ת רָ֭שָׁע יִדְלַ֣ק עָנִ֑י יִתָּפְשׂ֓וּ ׀ בִּמְזִמּ֖וֹת ז֣וּ חָשָֽׁבוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiֽy-hilּe֣l ra֭shsha 'al-tּa'ava֣t napeshsh֑o ubotze֥'a bּe֝re֗ke ni֘'e֥tz ׀ yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire and blesses the greedy, whom the LORD abhors.

כִּֽי־הִלֵּ֣ל רָ֭שָׁע עַל־תַּאֲוַ֣ת נַפְשׁ֑וֹ וּבֹצֵ֥עַ בֵּ֝רֵ֗ךְ נִ֘אֵ֥ץ ׀ יְהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): rashsha֗ kּego֣bahּ 'a֭pּo bּal-yidero֑shsh 'e֥yn 'e֝lohi֗ym kּal-mezimּotaֽyv׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The wicked, in his arrogance, does not seek after God; all his thoughts are, "There is no God."

רָשָׁ֗ע כְּגֹ֣בַהּ אַ֭פּוֹ בַּל־יִדְרֹ֑שׁ אֵ֥ין אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים כָּל־מְזִמּוֹתָֽיו׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ya֘chi֤ylu drkv deraka֨yv ׀ bּekal-'e֗t mar֣om mi֭shshepּateyka minּegedּ֑o kּal-tz֝orera֗yv yapi֥ycha bּaheֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)His ways are always prosperous; your judgements are far above, out of his sight; as for all his enemies, he sneers at them.

יָ֘חִ֤ילוּ דרכו דְרָכָ֨יו ׀ בְּכָל־עֵ֗ת מָר֣וֹם מִ֭שְׁפָּטֶיךָ מִנֶּגְדּ֑וֹ כָּל־צ֝וֹרְרָ֗יו יָפִ֥יחַ בָּהֶֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ama֣r bּe֭libּo bּal-'emּ֑ot ledo֥r va֝do֗r 'ashshe֣r loֽ'-beraֽ'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He has said in his heart, "I shall not be moved; for I shall never be in adversity."

אָמַ֣ר בְּ֭לִבּוֹ בַּל־אֶמּ֑וֹט לְדֹ֥ר וָ֝דֹ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־בְרָֽע׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ala֤h pּi֣yhu ma֭le umirem֣ot vato֑ke tּa֥chat le֝shshon֗o 'ama֥l va'aֽven׃

Edified Edition (EDE)His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and fraud; under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

אָלָ֤ה פִּ֣יהוּ מָ֭לֵא וּמִרְמ֣וֹת וָתֹ֑ךְ תַּ֥חַת לְ֝שׁוֹנ֗וֹ עָמָ֥ל וָאָֽוֶן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yeshshe֤b ׀ bּema'era֬b chatzeri֗ym bּaֽ֭mּisetּariym yaharo֣g naqi֑y 'e֝yna֗yv leֽcheleka֥h yitzepּoֽnu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He sits in the lurking places of the villages; in secret places he murders the innocent; his eyes are secretly set against the poor.

יֵשֵׁ֤ב ׀ בְּמַאְרַ֬ב חֲצֵרִ֗ים בַּֽ֭מִּסְתָּרִים יַהֲרֹ֣ג נָקִ֑י עֵ֝ינָ֗יו לְֽחֵלְכָ֥ה יִצְפֹּֽנוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ye'ero֬b bּamּisetּa֨r ׀ kּe'areye֬h besukּo֗h ye֭'erob lachat֣op 'ani֑y yacheto֥p 'a֝ni֗y bּemashshek֥o berishshetּֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den; he lies in wait to catch the poor; he catches the poor when he draws him into his net.

יֶאֱרֹ֬ב בַּמִּסְתָּ֨ר ׀ כְּאַרְיֵ֬ה בְסֻכֹּ֗ה יֶ֭אֱרֹב לַחֲט֣וֹף עָנִ֑י יַחְטֹ֥ף עָ֝נִ֗י בְּמָשְׁכ֥וֹ בְרִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vdkh yidekּe֥h yashsho֑cha venapa֥l bּa֝'atzuma֗yv chlk'ym che֣yl kּa'iֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He crouches and humbles himself, that the poor may fall by his strength.

ודכה יִדְכֶּ֥ה יָשֹׁ֑חַ וְנָפַ֥ל בַּ֝עֲצוּמָ֗יו חלכאים חֵ֣יל כָּאִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ama֣r bּe֭libּo shsha֣kaֽch 'e֑l hisetּi֥yr pּa֝na֗yv bּal-ra'a֥h laneֽtzach׃

Edified Edition (EDE)He has said in his heart, "God has forgotten; he hides his face; he will never see it."

אָמַ֣ר בְּ֭לִבּוֹ שָׁ֣כַֽח אֵ֑ל הִסְתִּ֥יר פָּ֝נָ֗יו בַּל־רָאָ֥ה לָנֶֽצַח׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): quma֤h yehva֗h 'e֭l neshsa֣ yade֑ka 'al-tּishshekּa֥ch 'nyym 'anavֽiym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Arise, O LORD! O God, lift up your hand; do not forget the humble.

קוּמָ֤ה יְהוָ֗ה אֵ֭ל נְשָׂ֣א יָדֶ֑ךָ אַל־תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח עניים עֲנָוִֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-me֤h ׀ ni'e֖tz rashsha֥ ׀ 'elohi֑ym 'ama֥r bּe֝libּ֗o lo֣ tּideroֽshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Why does the wicked despise God? He has said in his heart, "You will not require an accounting."

עַל־מֶ֤ה ׀ נִאֵ֖ץ רָשָׁ֥ע ׀ אֱלֹהִ֑ים אָמַ֥ר בְּ֝לִבּ֗וֹ לֹ֣א תִּדְרֹֽשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ra'i֡tah kּiֽy-'atּa֤h ׀ 'a֘ma֤l vaka֨'as ׀ tּabּiyt֮ late֪t bּeya֫de֥ka 'a֭leyka ya'azo֣b chele֑kah ya֝t֗om 'atּa֤h ׀ hayi֬yta 'ozeֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You have seen it, for you behold mischief and spite, to take it into your hands; the poor commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.

רָאִ֡תָה כִּֽי־אַתָּ֤ה ׀ עָ֘מָ֤ל וָכַ֨עַס ׀ תַּבִּיט֮ לָתֵ֪ת בְּיָ֫דֶ֥ךָ עָ֭לֶיךָ יַעֲזֹ֣ב חֵלֶ֑כָה יָ֝ת֗וֹם אַתָּ֤ה ׀ הָיִ֬יתָ עוֹזֵֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshe֭bor zer֣o'a rashsha֑ va֝ra֗ tּiֽderoshsh-rishshe'֥o bal-tּimetzaֽ'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man; seek out his wickedness until you find none.

שְׁ֭בֹר זְר֣וֹעַ רָשָׁ֑ע וָ֝רָ֗ע תִּֽדְרוֹשׁ־רִשְׁע֥וֹ בַל־תִּמְצָֽא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yehva֣h me֭leke 'ola֣m va'e֑d 'abed֥u g֝oyi֗m meֽ'aretzֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations have perished out of his land.

יְהוָ֣ה מֶ֭לֶךְ עוֹלָ֣ם וָעֶ֑ד אָבְד֥וּ ג֝וֹיִ֗ם מֵֽאַרְצֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tּa'ava֬t 'anavi֣ym shshama֣'etּa yehva֑h tּaki֥yn li֝bּa֗m tּaqeshshi֥yb 'azeneֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will prepare their heart, you will cause your ear to hear,

תַּאֲוַ֬ת עֲנָוִ֣ים שָׁמַ֣עְתָּ יְהוָ֑ה תָּכִ֥ין לִ֝בָּ֗ם תַּקְשִׁ֥יב אָזְנֶֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lishshepּo֥t yat֗om va֫da֥ke bּal-yosi֥yp '֑od la'aro֥tz 'e֝n֗oshsh min-ha'aֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

לִשְׁפֹּ֥ט יָת֗וֹם וָ֫דָ֥ךְ בַּל־יוֹסִ֥יף ע֑וֹד לַעֲרֹ֥ץ אֱ֝נ֗וֹשׁ מִן־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
