Chapter 2

Phonetic (Hebrew): la֭mּah rageshsh֣u goyi֑m u֝le'umּi֗ym yehegּu-riֽyq׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain?

לָ֭מָּה רָגְשׁ֣וּ גוֹיִ֑ם וּ֝לְאֻמִּ֗ים יֶהְגּוּ־רִֽיק׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yi֥teyatzּeb֨u ׀ malekey-'e֗retz verozeni֥ym nֽosedu-ya֑chad 'al-ye֝hvah ve'al-meshshiychֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together, against the LORD and against his Anointed One:

יִ֥תְיַצְּב֨וּ ׀ מַלְכֵי־אֶ֗רֶץ וְרוֹזְנִ֥ים נֽוֹסְדוּ־יָ֑חַד עַל־יְ֝הוָה וְעַל־מְשִׁיחֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): neֽ֭natּeqah 'et-mֽoserote֑ymo venashsheli֖ykah mimּe֣nּu 'aboteֽymo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Let us break their chains in pieces," they say, "and cast their ropes from us."

נְֽ֭נַתְּקָה אֶת־מֽוֹסְרוֹתֵ֑ימוֹ וְנַשְׁלִ֖יכָה מִמֶּ֣נּוּ עֲבֹתֵֽימוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yoshshe֣b bּashshּama֣yim yishsecha֑q 'a֝dona֗y yile'ag-laֽmo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The One who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.

יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם יִשְׂחָ֑ק אֲ֝דֹנָ֗י יִלְעַג־לָֽמוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): a֤z yedabּe֣r 'ele֣ymo be'apּ֑o uֽbacharon֥o yebahaleֽmo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,

אָ֤ז יְדַבֵּ֣ר אֵלֵ֣ימוֹ בְאַפּ֑וֹ וּֽבַחֲרוֹנ֥וֹ יְבַהֲלֵֽמוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va֭'aniy nasa֣ketּiy malekּi֑y 'al-tzi֝yּ֗on har-qadeshshiֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill."

וַ֭אֲנִי נָסַ֣כְתִּי מַלְכִּ֑י עַל־צִ֝יּ֗וֹן הַר־קָדְשִֽׁי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): asapּera֗h 'eֽ֫l cho֥q yeֽhva֗h 'ama֘r 'ela֥y bּeni֥y 'a֑tּah 'a֝ni֗y hayּ֥om yelidetּiֽyka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have begotten you."

אֲסַפְּרָ֗ה אֶֽ֫ל חֹ֥ק יְֽהוָ֗ה אָמַ֘ר אֵלַ֥י בְּנִ֥י אַ֑תָּה אֲ֝נִ֗י הַיּ֥וֹם יְלִדְתִּֽיךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshe'a֤l mimּe֗nּiy ve'etּena֣h g֭oyim nachalate֑ka va֝'achuzּateka֗ 'apesey-'aֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the earth your possession."

שְׁאַ֤ל מִמֶּ֗נִּי וְאֶתְּנָ֣ה ג֭וֹיִם נַחֲלָתֶ֑ךָ וַ֝אֲחֻזָּתְךָ֗ אַפְסֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tּe֭ro'em bּeshshe֣bet bּareze֑l kּikeli֖y yotze֣r tּenapּetzeֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel."

תְּ֭רֹעֵם בְּשֵׁ֣בֶט בַּרְזֶ֑ל כִּכְלִ֖י יוֹצֵ֣ר תְּנַפְּצֵֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve֭'atּah melaki֣ym hashsekּi֑ylu hi֝uaser֗u shsho֣petey 'aֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you judges of the earth.

וְ֭עַתָּה מְלָכִ֣ים הַשְׂכִּ֑ילוּ הִ֝וָּסְר֗וּ שֹׁ֣פְטֵי אָֽרֶץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ibed֣u 'et-yehva֣h bּeyire'a֑h ve֝gi֗ylu bּire'adaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.

עִבְד֣וּ אֶת־יְהוָ֣ה בְּיִרְאָ֑ה וְ֝גִ֗ילוּ בִּרְעָדָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): nashshּequ-ba֡r pּen-ye'ena֤p ׀ veto֬'bedu de֗reke kּiֽy-yibe'a֣r kּime'a֣t 'apּ֑o 'a֝shshere֗y kּal-ch֥osey bֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Kiss the Son [1], lest he be angry and you perish in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

נַשְּׁקוּ־בַ֡ר פֶּן־יֶאֱנַ֤ף ׀ וְתֹ֬אבְדוּ דֶ֗רֶךְ כִּֽי־יִבְעַ֣ר כִּמְעַ֣ט אַפּ֑וֹ אַ֝שְׁרֵ֗י כָּל־ח֥וֹסֵי בֽוֹ׃
