Chapter 27

Phonetic (Hebrew): ledavi֨d ׀ yehva֤h ׀ 'ori֣y ve֭yishshe'iy mimּi֣y 'iyra֑ yehva֥h maֽ'oz-cha֝yּa֗y mimּi֥y 'epechaֽd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

לְדָוִ֨ד ׀ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אוֹרִ֣י וְ֭יִשְׁעִי מִמִּ֣י אִירָ֑א יְהוָ֥ה מָֽעוֹז־חַ֝יַּ֗י מִמִּ֥י אֶפְחָֽד׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): bּiqero֤b 'ala֨y ׀ mere'iym֮ le'eko֪l 'et-bּeshsa֫ri֥y tzara֣y ve'oyeba֣y li֑y he֖mּah kashshel֣u venapaֽlu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to devour my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

בִּקְרֹ֤ב עָלַ֨י ׀ מְרֵעִים֮ לֶאֱכֹ֪ל אֶת־בְּשָׂ֫רִ֥י צָרַ֣י וְאֹיְבַ֣י לִ֑י הֵ֖מָּה כָשְׁל֣וּ וְנָפָֽלוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): im-tּachane֬h 'ala֨y ׀ machaneh֮ loֽ'-yiyra֪ li֫bּi֥y 'im-tּaq֣um 'a֭lay milechama֑h bּe֝zo֗'t 'ani֣y boteֽcha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this I will be confident.

אִם־תַּחֲנֶ֬ה עָלַ֨י ׀ מַחֲנֶה֮ לֹֽא־יִירָ֪א לִ֫בִּ֥י אִם־תָּק֣וּם עָ֭לַי מִלְחָמָ֑ה בְּ֝זֹ֗את אֲנִ֣י בוֹטֵֽחַ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): acha֤t ׀ shsha'a֣letּiy meֽ'et-yehvah֮ 'ota֪hּ 'aba֫qּe֥shsh shshibetּi֣y bּebeyt-ye֭hvah kּal-yeme֣y chayּa֑y lachaz֥ot bּenoֽ'am-ye֝hva֗h ulebaqּe֥r bּeheykalֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)One thing I have asked of the LORD, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to enquire in his temple.

אַחַ֤ת ׀ שָׁאַ֣לְתִּי מֵֽאֵת־יְהוָה֮ אוֹתָ֪הּ אֲבַ֫קֵּ֥שׁ שִׁבְתִּ֣י בְּבֵית־יְ֭הוָה כָּל־יְמֵ֣י חַיַּ֑י לַחֲז֥וֹת בְּנֹֽעַם־יְ֝הוָ֗ה וּלְבַקֵּ֥ר בְּהֵיכָלֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֤y yitzepּene֨niy ׀ bּesukּoh֮ bּey֪om ra֫'a֥h ya֭setּireniy bּese֣ter 'ahol֑o bּe֝tz֗ur yeromemeֽniy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion; in the secret of his tent he shall hide me; he shall set me high upon a rock.

כִּ֤י יִצְפְּנֵ֨נִי ׀ בְּסֻכֹּה֮ בְּי֪וֹם רָ֫עָ֥ה יַ֭סְתִּרֵנִי בְּסֵ֣תֶר אָהֳל֑וֹ בְּ֝צ֗וּר יְרוֹמְמֵֽנִי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'atּa֨h yar֪um ro'shshi֡y 'a֤l 'oֽyeba֬y seֽbiybota֗y ve'ezebּecha֣h be֭'aholo zibeche֣y teru'a֑h 'ashshi֥yrah va֝'azamּera֗h layhvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; therefore I will offer in his tent sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.

וְעַתָּ֨ה יָר֪וּם רֹאשִׁ֡י עַ֤ל אֹֽיְבַ֬י סְֽבִיבוֹתַ֗י וְאֶזְבְּחָ֣ה בְ֭אָהֳלוֹ זִבְחֵ֣י תְרוּעָ֑ה אָשִׁ֥ירָה וַ֝אֲזַמְּרָ֗ה לַיהוָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshema'-yehva֖h qoli֥y 'eqera֗ vechanּe֥niy va'aneֽniy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice; have mercy also on me and answer me.

שְׁמַע־יְהוָ֖ה קוֹלִ֥י אֶקְרָ֗א וְחָנֵּ֥נִי וַעֲנֵֽנִי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): leka֤ ׀ 'ama֣r li֭bּiy bּaqּeshsh֣u pana֑y 'et-pּane֖yka yehva֣h 'abaqּeֽshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)When you said, "Seek my face," my heart said to you, "Your face, LORD, I will seek."

לְךָ֤ ׀ אָמַ֣ר לִ֭בִּי בַּקְּשׁ֣וּ פָנָ֑י אֶת־פָּנֶ֖יךָ יְהוָ֣ה אֲבַקֵּֽשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-tּasetּe֬r pּane֨yka ׀ mimּenּiy֮ 'aֽl-tּat-bּe'a֗p 'a֫bedּe֥ka 'ezerati֥y hayi֑yta 'aֽl-tּitּeshshe֥niy ve'al-tּaֽ֝'azebe֗niy 'elohe֥y yishshe'iֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Hide not your face from me; put not your servant away in anger; you have been my help. Leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

אַל־תַּסְתֵּ֬ר פָּנֶ֨יךָ ׀ מִמֶּנִּי֮ אַֽל־תַּט־בְּאַ֗ף עַ֫בְדֶּ֥ךָ עֶזְרָתִ֥י הָיִ֑יתָ אַֽל־תִּטְּשֵׁ֥נִי וְאַל־תַּֽ֝עַזְבֵ֗נִי אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׁעִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּiy-'abi֣y ve'imּi֣y 'azab֑uniy vaֽyhva֣h yaֽ'asepeֽniy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Even if my father and my mother forsake me, the LORD will take me up.

כִּי־אָבִ֣י וְאִמִּ֣י עֲזָב֑וּנִי וַֽיהוָ֣ה יַֽאַסְפֵֽנִי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): h֤ore֥niy yehva֗h dּa֫rekּe֥ka u֭necheniy bּe'o֣rach miyshsh֑or le֝ma֗'an shshoreraֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Teach me your way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path because of my enemies.

ה֤וֹרֵ֥נִי יְהוָ֗ה דַּ֫רְכֶּ֥ךָ וּ֭נְחֵנִי בְּאֹ֣רַח מִישׁ֑וֹר לְ֝מַ֗עַן שׁוֹרְרָֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): aֽl-tּi֭tּeneniy bּene֣peshsh tzara֑y kּi֥y qaֽmu-bi֥y 'eֽdey-shshe֝֗qer viype֥cha chamaֽs׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Do not deliver me over to the will of my enemies, for false witnesses have risen against me, even such as breathe out cruelty.

אַֽל־תִּ֭תְּנֵנִי בְּנֶ֣פֶשׁ צָרָ֑י כִּ֥י קָֽמוּ־בִ֥י עֵֽדֵי־שֶׁ֝֗קֶר וִיפֵ֥חַ חָמָֽס׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lׅׄuleׅׄ֗'ׅׄ he֭'emanetּiy lire'֥ot bּeֽtub-yehva֗h bּe'e֣retz chayּiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)I would have fainted unless I had believed I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

לׅׄוּלֵׅׄ֗אׅׄ הֶ֭אֱמַנְתִּי לִרְא֥וֹת בְּֽטוּב־יְהוָ֗ה בְּאֶ֣רֶץ חַיִּֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): qaue֗h 'el-yeh֫va֥h cha֭zaq veya'ame֣tz libּe֑ka ve֝qaue֗h 'el-yehvaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the LORD.

קַוֵּ֗ה אֶל־יְה֫וָ֥ה חֲ֭זַק וְיַאֲמֵ֣ץ לִבֶּ֑ךָ וְ֝קַוֵּ֗ה אֶל־יְהוָֽה׃
