Chapter 74

Phonetic (Hebrew): mashsekּi֗yl le'a֫sa֥p lama֣h 'e֭lohiym zana֣chetּa lane֑tzach ye'eshsha֥n 'a֝pּeka֗ bּetzo֣'n mare'iyteֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O God, why have you cast us off for ever? why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?

מַשְׂכִּ֗יל לְאָ֫סָ֥ף לָמָ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהִים זָנַ֣חְתָּ לָנֶ֑צַח יֶעְשַׁ֥ן אַ֝פְּךָ֗ בְּצֹ֣אן מַרְעִיתֶֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): zeko֤r 'adateka֨ ׀ qa֘ni֤yta qּe֗dem gּa֭'aletּa shshe֣bet nachalate֑ka har-tzi֝yּ֗on ze֤h ׀ shshaka֬netּa bּֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old; the rod of your inheritance, which you have redeemed; this mount Sion, wherein you have dwelt.

זְכֹ֤ר עֲדָתְךָ֨ ׀ קָ֘נִ֤יתָ קֶּ֗דֶם גָּ֭אַלְתָּ שֵׁ֣בֶט נַחֲלָתֶ֑ךָ הַר־צִ֝יּ֗וֹן זֶ֤ה ׀ שָׁכַ֬נְתָּ בּֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hari֣ymah pe֭'ameyka lemashshּu'֣ot ne֑tzach kּal-hera֖ 'oye֣b bּaqּoֽdeshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Lift up your feet to the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy has done wickedly in the sanctuary.

הָרִ֣ימָה פְ֭עָמֶיךָ לְמַשֻּׁא֣וֹת נֶ֑צַח כָּל־הֵרַ֖ע אוֹיֵ֣ב בַּקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shsha'ag֣u tzo֭rereyka bּeqe֣reb mo'ade֑ka shsa֖mu 'otota֣m 'otֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Your enemies roar in the midst of your congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs.

שָׁאֲג֣וּ צֹ֭רְרֶיךָ בְּקֶ֣רֶב מוֹעֲדֶ֑ךָ שָׂ֖מוּ אוֹתֹתָ֣ם אֹתֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yi֭uada kּemebi֣y lema֑'elah bּiֽsabake-'e֝֗tz qaredּumּֽot׃

Edified Edition (EDE)A man was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.

יִ֭וָּדַע כְּמֵבִ֣יא לְמָ֑עְלָה בִּֽסֲבָךְ־עֵ֝֗ץ קַרְדֻּמּֽוֹת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): v't ve֭'atּah pּitּuche֣yha yּa֑chad bּekashshּi֥yl ve֝keֽylapּo֗t yahalomֽun׃

Edified Edition (EDE)But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.

ועת וְ֭עַתָּה פִּתּוּחֶ֣יהָ יָּ֑חַד בְּכַשִּׁ֥יל וְ֝כֵֽילַפֹּ֗ת יַהֲלֹמֽוּן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshilech֣u ba֭'eshsh miqedּashshe֑ka la֝'a֗retz chilּel֥u miֽshshekּan-shshemeֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They have set your sanctuary on fire, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of your name to the ground.

שִׁלְח֣וּ בָ֭אֵשׁ מִקְדָּשֶׁ֑ךָ לָ֝אָ֗רֶץ חִלְּל֥וּ מִֽשְׁכַּן־שְׁמֶֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): amer֣u be֭libּam niyna֣m ya֑chad shsarep֖u kal-mo'adey-'e֣l bּa'aֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together; they have burned up all the houses of God in the land.

אָמְר֣וּ בְ֭לִבָּם נִינָ֣ם יָ֑חַד שָׂרְפ֖וּ כָל־מוֹעֲדֵי־אֵ֣ל בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ֽotote֗ynu lo֥ ra֫'i֥ynu 'eֽyn-'֥od nabi֑y veloֽ'-'i֝tּa֗nu yode֥'a 'ad-maֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)We see not our signs; there is no more any prophet; neither is there among us any that knows how long.

אֽוֹתֹתֵ֗ינוּ לֹ֥א רָ֫אִ֥ינוּ אֵֽין־ע֥וֹד נָבִ֑יא וְלֹֽא־אִ֝תָּ֗נוּ יֹדֵ֥עַ עַד־מָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ad-mata֣y 'e֭lohiym yecha֣rep tza֑r yena֘'e֤tz 'oye֖b shshimeka֣ laneֽtzach׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme your name for ever?

עַד־מָתַ֣י אֱ֭לֹהִים יְחָ֣רֶף צָ֑ר יְנָ֘אֵ֤ץ אוֹיֵ֖ב שִׁמְךָ֣ לָנֶֽצַח׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): la֤mּah tashshi֣yb ya֭deka viֽymiyne֑ka miqּe֖reb chvqk chֽeyqeka֣ kalּeֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Why withdraw you your hand, even your right hand? pluck it out of your bosom.

לָ֤מָּה תָשִׁ֣יב יָ֭דְךָ וִֽימִינֶ֑ךָ מִקֶּ֖רֶב חוקך חֵֽיקְךָ֣ כַלֵּֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve֭'lohiym malekּi֣y miqּe֑dem pּo'e֥l ye֝shshu'֗ot bּeqe֣reb ha'aֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

וֵ֭אלֹהִים מַלְכִּ֣י מִקֶּ֑דֶם פֹּעֵ֥ל יְ֝שׁוּע֗וֹת בְּקֶ֣רֶב הָאָֽרֶץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): atּa֤h pora֣retּa be'azּeka֣ ya֑m shshibּa֖retּa ra'shshe֥y ta֝nּiyni֗ym 'al-hamּaֽyim׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You did divide the sea by your strength; you broke the heads of the sea-monsters in the waters.

אַתָּ֤ה פוֹרַ֣רְתָּ בְעָזְּךָ֣ יָ֑ם שִׁבַּ֖רְתָּ רָאשֵׁ֥י תַ֝נִּינִ֗ים עַל־הַמָּֽיִם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): atּa֣h ri֭tzּatzetּa ra'shshe֣y liveyata֑n tּitּene֥nּu ma֝'aka֗l le'a֣m letziyּiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You crushed the heads of Leviathan in pieces, and gave him to be food for the people inhabiting the wilderness.

אַתָּ֣ה רִ֭צַּצְתָּ רָאשֵׁ֣י לִוְיָתָ֑ן תִּתְּנֶ֥נּוּ מַ֝אֲכָ֗ל לְעָ֣ם לְצִיִּֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): atּa֣h ba֭qa'etּa ma'eya֣n vana֑chal 'atּa֥h h֝oba֗shshetּa nahar֥ot 'eytaֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You did cleave the fountain and the flood; you dried up mighty rivers.

אַתָּ֣ה בָ֭קַעְתָּ מַעְיָ֣ן וָנָ֑חַל אַתָּ֥ה ה֝וֹבַ֗שְׁתָּ נַהֲר֥וֹת אֵיתָֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): leka֣ y֭om 'ap-leka֥ la֑yelah 'atּa֥h ha֝kiyn֗ota ma'֥or vashshaֽmeshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The day is yours, the night also is yours; you have prepared the light and the sun.

לְךָ֣ י֭וֹם אַף־לְךָ֥ לָ֑יְלָה אַתָּ֥ה הֲ֝כִינ֗וֹתָ מָא֥וֹר וָשָֽׁמֶשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): atּa֣h hi֭tzּabetּa kּal-gּebul֣ot 'a֑retz qa֥yitz va֝cho֗rep 'atּa֥h yetzaretּam׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You have set all the borders of the earth; you have made summer and winter.

אַתָּ֣ה הִ֭צַּבְתָּ כָּל־גְּבוּל֣וֹת אָ֑רֶץ קַ֥יִץ וָ֝חֹ֗רֶף אַתָּ֥ה יְצַרְתָּם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): zekar-zo֗'t '֭oyeb chere֣p ׀ yehva֑h ve'a֥m na֝ba֗l niֽ'atz֥u shshemeֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed your name.

זְכָר־זֹ֗את א֭וֹיֵב חֵרֵ֣ף ׀ יְהוָ֑ה וְעַ֥ם נָ֝בָ֗ל נִֽאֲצ֥וּ שְׁמֶֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-tּitּe֣n le֭chayּat ne֣peshsh tּore֑ka chayּa֥t 'a֝niyּe֗yka 'al-tּishshekּa֥ch laneֽtzach׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O deliver not the soul of your turtledove to the multitude of the wicked; forget not the congregation of your poor for ever.

אַל־תִּתֵּ֣ן לְ֭חַיַּת נֶ֣פֶשׁ תּוֹרֶ֑ךָ חַיַּ֥ת עֲ֝נִיֶּ֗יךָ אַל־תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח לָנֶֽצַח׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): habּe֥t labּeri֑yt kּi֥y male'֥u machashshakּey-'e֝֗retz ne'֣ot chamaֽs׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Have respect to the covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.

הַבֵּ֥ט לַבְּרִ֑ית כִּ֥י מָלְא֥וּ מַחֲשַׁכֵּי־אֶ֝֗רֶץ נְא֣וֹת חָמָֽס׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-yashsho֣b dּa֣ke nikela֑m 'ani֥y ve֝'ebey֗on yeֽhalel֥u shshemeֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O let not the oppressed return ashamed; let the poor and needy praise your name.

אַל־יָשֹׁ֣ב דַּ֣ךְ נִכְלָ֑ם עָנִ֥י וְ֝אֶבְי֗וֹן יְֽהַלְל֥וּ שְׁמֶֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): quma֣h 'e֭lohiym riyba֣h riybe֑ka zeko֥r cherepּateka֥ minּiy-na֝ba֗l kּal-hayּֽom׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Arise, O God, plead your own cause; remember how the foolish man reproaches you daily.

קוּמָ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהִים רִיבָ֣ה רִיבֶ֑ךָ זְכֹ֥ר חֶרְפָּתְךָ֥ מִנִּי־נָ֝בָ֗ל כָּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): al-tּi֭shshekּach q֣ol tzorere֑yka shshe'֥on qa֝me֗yka 'ole֥h tamiֽyd׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Forget not the voice of your enemies; the tumult of those that rise up against you increases continually.

אַל־תִּ֭שְׁכַּח ק֣וֹל צֹרְרֶ֑יךָ שְׁא֥וֹן קָ֝מֶ֗יךָ עֹלֶ֥ה תָמִֽיד׃
