Chapter 80

Phonetic (Hebrew): lamenatzּe֥cha 'el-shshoshshanּi֑ym 'ed֖ut le'asa֣p mizemֽor׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you that lead Joseph like a flock; you that dwell between the cherubims, shine forth.

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ אֶל־שֹׁשַׁנִּ֑ים עֵד֖וּת לְאָסָ֣ף מִזְמֽוֹר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ro֘'e֤h yishsera'e֨l ׀ ha'azi֗ynah nohe֣g kּatzּo֣'n yose֑p yoshshe֖b hakּerubi֣ym hopiֽy'ah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up your strength, and come and save us.

רֹ֘עֵ֤ה יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל ׀ הַאֲזִ֗ינָה נֹהֵ֣ג כַּצֹּ֣אן יוֹסֵ֑ף יֹשֵׁ֖ב הַכְּרוּבִ֣ים הוֹפִֽיעָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): lipene֤y 'epera֨yim ׀ ubineya֘mi֤n umenashshּe֗h 'orera֥h 'et-gּebֽurate֑ka uleka֖h liyshshu'a֣tah lּaֽnu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Turn us again, O God, and cause your face to shine; and we shall be saved.

לִפְנֵ֤י אֶפְרַ֨יִם ׀ וּבִנְיָ֘מִ֤ן וּמְנַשֶּׁ֗ה עוֹרְרָ֥ה אֶת־גְּבֽוּרָתֶ֑ךָ וּלְכָ֖ה לִישֻׁעָ֣תָה לָּֽנוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): elohi֥ym hashshiybe֑nu veha'e֥r pּa֝ne֗yka veniuashsheֽ'ah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)O LORD God of hosts, how long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?

אֱלֹהִ֥ים הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ וְהָאֵ֥ר פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yehva֣h 'elohi֣ym tzeba'֑ot 'ad-mata֥y 'a֝shsha֗netּa bּitepilּa֥t 'amּeֽka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You feed them with the bread of tears; and give them tears to drink in great measure.

יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֣ים צְבָא֑וֹת עַד־מָתַ֥י עָ֝שַׁ֗נְתָּ בִּתְפִלַּ֥ת עַמֶּֽךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): he֭'ekaletּam le֣chem dּime'a֑h va֝tּashsheqe֗mo bּidema'֥ot shshaliֽyshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You make us a strife to our neighbours; and our enemies laugh among themselves.

הֶ֭אֱכַלְתָּם לֶ֣חֶם דִּמְעָ֑ה וַ֝תַּשְׁקֵ֗מוֹ בִּדְמָע֥וֹת שָׁלִֽישׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tּeshsiyme֣nu ma֭don lishshekene֑ynu ve֝'oyebe֗ynu yile'agu-laֽmo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause your face to shine; and we shall be saved.

תְּשִׂימֵ֣נוּ מָ֭דוֹן לִשְׁכֵנֵ֑ינוּ וְ֝אֹיְבֵ֗ינוּ יִלְעֲגוּ־לָֽמוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): elohi֣ym tzeba'֣ot hashshiybe֑nu veha'e֥r pּa֝ne֗yka veniuashsheֽ'ah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You have brought a vine out of Egypt; you have cast out the nations, and planted it.

אֱלֹהִ֣ים צְבָא֣וֹת הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ וְהָאֵ֥ר פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): gּe֭pen mimּitzera֣yim tּasּi֑y'a tּegare֥shsh gּ֝oyi֗m vatּitּa'eֽha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)You prepared room before it, and did cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.

גֶּ֭פֶן מִמִּצְרַ֣יִם תַּסִּ֑יעַ תְּגָרֵ֥שׁ גּ֝וֹיִ֗ם וַתִּטָּעֶֽהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): pּinּi֥yta lepane֑yha vatּashshere֥shsh shsha֝rashshe֗yha vatּemalּe'-'aֽretz׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

פִּנִּ֥יתָ לְפָנֶ֑יהָ וַתַּשְׁרֵ֥שׁ שָׁ֝רָשֶׁ֗יהָ וַתְּמַלֵּא־אָֽרֶץ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּasּ֣u hari֣ym tzilּa֑hּ va֝'anape֗yha 'aֽrezey-'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)She sent out her boughs to the sea, and her branches to the river.

כָּסּ֣וּ הָרִ֣ים צִלָּ֑הּ וַ֝עֲנָפֶ֗יהָ אַֽרְזֵי־אֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tּeshshalּa֣ch qetziyre֣ha 'ad-ya֑m ve'el-na֝ha֗r yֽoneqoteֽyha׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Why have you then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?

תְּשַׁלַּ֣ח קְצִירֶ֣הָ עַד־יָ֑ם וְאֶל־נָ֝הָ֗ר יֽוֹנְקוֹתֶֽיהָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): la֭mּah pּara֣tzetּa gedere֑yha ve֝'ar֗uha kּal-'o֥berey daֽreke׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The boar out of the wood wastes it, and the wild beast of the field devours it.

לָ֭מָּה פָּרַ֣צְתָּ גְדֵרֶ֑יהָ וְ֝אָר֗וּהָ כָּל־עֹ֥בְרֵי דָֽרֶךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yekareseme֣nּaֽh chazi֣yr miyּa֑<seg type="x-suspended">'a<seg>r vezi֖yz shsada֣y yire'eֽnּah׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Return, we beseech you, O God of hosts; look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

יְכַרְסְמֶ֣נָּֽה חֲזִ֣יר מִיָּ֑<seg type="x-suspended">עַ<seg>ר וְזִ֖יז שָׂדַ֣י יִרְעֶֽנָּה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): elohi֣ym tzeba'ot֮ shshֽ֫ub-na֥ habּe֣t mishshּama֣yim ure'e֑h u֝peqo֗d gּe֣pen zoֽ't׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the vineyard which your right hand has planted, and the branch that you made strong for yourself.

אֱלֹהִ֣ים צְבָאוֹת֮ שֽׁ֫וּב־נָ֥א הַבֵּ֣ט מִשָּׁמַ֣יִם וּרְאֵ֑ה וּ֝פְקֹ֗ד גֶּ֣פֶן זֹֽאת׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve֭kanּah 'ashsher-nate'a֣h yemiyne֑ka ve'al-bּe֝֗n 'imּa֥tzetּah lּaֽke׃

Edified Edition (EDE)It is burned with fire, it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of your countenance.

וְ֭כַנָּה אֲשֶׁר־נָטְעָ֣ה יְמִינֶ֑ךָ וְעַל־בֵּ֝֗ן אִמַּ֥צְתָּה לָּֽךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shserupa֣h ba'e֣shsh kּesucha֑h migּa'ara֖t pּane֣yka yo'beֽdu׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Let your hand be upon the man of your right hand, upon the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.

שְׂרֻפָ֣ה בָאֵ֣שׁ כְּסוּחָ֑ה מִגַּעֲרַ֖ת פָּנֶ֣יךָ יֹאבֵֽדוּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): tּeֽhiy-ya֭deka 'al-'i֣yshsh yemiyne֑ka 'al-bּen-'a֝da֗m 'imּa֥tzetּa lּaֽke׃

Edified Edition (EDE)So will not we go back from you; quicken us, and we will call upon your name.

תְּֽהִי־יָ֭דְךָ עַל־אִ֣ישׁ יְמִינֶ֑ךָ עַל־בֶּן־אָ֝דָ֗ם אִמַּ֥צְתָּ לָּֽךְ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): velo'-nas֥og mimּe֑kּa tּe֝chayּe֗nu ubeshshimeka֥ niqeraֽ'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause your face to shine; and we shall be saved.

וְלֹא־נָס֥וֹג מִמֶּ֑ךָּ תְּ֝חַיֵּ֗נוּ וּבְשִׁמְךָ֥ נִקְרָֽא׃

יְה֘וָ֤ה אֱלֹהִ֣ים צְבָא֣וֹת הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ הָאֵ֥ר פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃
