Chapter 11

Phonetic (Hebrew): pּeta֥ch leban֖on dּelate֑yka veto'ka֥l 'e֖shsh bּa'arazeֽyka׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Open your doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars.

פְּתַ֥ח לְבָנ֖וֹן דְּלָתֶ֑יךָ וְתֹאכַ֥ל אֵ֖שׁ בַּאֲרָזֶֽיךָ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): heyle֤l bּeroshsh֙ kּiֽy-na֣pal 'e֔rez 'ashshe֥r 'adּiri֖ym shshudּa֑du heyli֨ylu֙ 'alּone֣y bashsha֔n kּi֥y yara֖d ya֥'ar hbtzvr habּatziֽyr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O you oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down.

הֵילֵ֤ל בְּרוֹשׁ֙ כִּֽי־נָ֣פַל אֶ֔רֶז אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַדִּרִ֖ים שֻׁדָּ֑דוּ הֵילִ֨ילוּ֙ אַלּוֹנֵ֣י בָשָׁ֔ן כִּ֥י יָרַ֖ד יַ֥עַר הבצור הַבָּצִֽיר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): q֚ol yiֽlela֣t haro'i֔ym kּi֥y shshudּeda֖h 'adּaretּa֑m q֚ol shsha'aga֣t kּepiyri֔ym kּi֥y shshudּa֖d gּe'֥on hayּaredּeֽn׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.

ק֚וֹל יִֽלְלַ֣ת הָרֹעִ֔ים כִּ֥י שֻׁדְּדָ֖ה אַדַּרְתָּ֑ם ק֚וֹל שַׁאֲגַ֣ת כְּפִירִ֔ים כִּ֥י שֻׁדַּ֖ד גְּא֥וֹן הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֥h 'ama֖r yehva֣h 'eloha֑y re'e֖h 'et-tzo֥'n haharegaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Thus says the LORD my God; "Feed the flock of the slaughter;"

כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑י רְעֵ֖ה אֶת־צֹ֥אן הַהֲרֵגָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ashshe֨r qoneyhe֤n yaֽharegun֙ velo֣ ye'eshsha֔mu umokereyhe֣n yo'ma֔r bּar֥uke yehva֖h va'eshshi֑r vero֣'eyhe֔m lo֥ yachem֖ol 'aleyheֽn׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, 'Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich:' and their own shepherds pity them not."

אֲשֶׁ֨ר קֹנֵיהֶ֤ן יַֽהֲרְגֻן֙ וְלֹ֣א יֶאְשָׁ֔מוּ וּמֹכְרֵיהֶ֣ן יֹאמַ֔ר בָּר֥וּךְ יְהוָ֖ה וַאעְשִׁ֑ר וְרֹ֣עֵיהֶ֔ם לֹ֥א יַחְמ֖וֹל עֲלֵיהֶֽן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֠y lo֣ 'echem֥ol '֛od 'al-yoshshebe֥y ha'a֖retz ne'um-yehva֑h vehinּe֨h 'anoki֜y mametzi֣y 'et-ha'ada֗m 'i֤yshsh bּeyad-re'e֨hu֙ ubeya֣d malekּ֔o vekitּetu֙ 'et-ha'a֔retz velo֥ 'atzּi֖yl miyּadaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)"For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land," says the LORD: "but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them."

כִּ֠י לֹ֣א אֶחְמ֥וֹל ע֛וֹד עַל־יֹשְׁבֵ֥י הָאָ֖רֶץ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֨ה אָנֹכִ֜י מַמְצִ֣יא אֶת־הָאָדָ֗ם אִ֤ישׁ בְּיַד־רֵעֵ֨הוּ֙ וּבְיַ֣ד מַלְכּ֔וֹ וְכִתְּתוּ֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ וְלֹ֥א אַצִּ֖יל מִיָּדָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vaֽ'ere'eh֙ 'et-tzo֣'n haֽharega֔h lake֖n 'aniyּe֣y hatzּo֑'n va'eqּaֽch-li֞y shshene֣y maqel֗ot le'acha֞d qara֤'tiy no֨'am֙ ule'achad֙ qara֣'tiy choֽbeli֔ym va'ere'e֖h 'et-hatzּoֽ'n׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took to me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.

וָֽאֶרְעֶה֙ אֶת־צֹ֣אן הַֽהֲרֵגָ֔ה לָכֵ֖ן עֲנִיֵּ֣י הַצֹּ֑אן וָאֶקַּֽח־לִ֞י שְׁנֵ֣י מַקְל֗וֹת לְאַחַ֞ד קָרָ֤אתִי נֹ֨עַם֙ וּלְאַחַד֙ קָרָ֣אתִי חֹֽבְלִ֔ים וָאֶרְעֶ֖ה אֶת־הַצֹּֽאן׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'akechi֛d 'et-shshelo֥shshet haro'i֖ym bּeye֣rach 'echa֑d vatּiqetza֤r napeshshiy֙ bּahe֔m vegam-napeshsha֖m bּachala֥h biֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred me.

וָאַכְחִ֛ד אֶת־שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת הָרֹעִ֖ים בְּיֶ֣רַח אֶחָ֑ד וַתִּקְצַ֤ר נַפְשִׁי֙ בָּהֶ֔ם וְגַם־נַפְשָׁ֖ם בָּחֲלָ֥ה בִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'oma֕r lo֥ 'ere'e֖h 'eteke֑m hamּeta֣h tam֗ut vehanּikeche֨det֙ tּikּache֔d veha֨nּishshe'ar֔ot tּo'ka֕lenah 'ishshּa֖h 'et-bּeshsa֥r re'utaֽhּ׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Then said I, "I will not feed you: that that dis, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another."

וָאֹמַ֕ר לֹ֥א אֶרְעֶ֖ה אֶתְכֶ֑ם הַמֵּתָ֣ה תָמ֗וּת וְהַנִּכְחֶ֨דֶת֙ תִּכָּחֵ֔ד וְהַ֨נִּשְׁאָר֔וֹת תֹּאכַ֕לְנָה אִשָּׁ֖ה אֶת־בְּשַׂ֥ר רְעוּתָֽהּ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'eqּa֤ch 'et-maqeliy֙ 'et-no֔'am va'egedּa֖ 'ot֑o lehapeyr֙ 'et-bּeriyti֔y 'ashshe֥r kּara֖tּiy 'et-kּal-ha'amּiֽym׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.

וָאֶקַּ֤ח אֶת־מַקְלִי֙ אֶת־נֹ֔עַם וָאֶגְדַּ֖ע אֹת֑וֹ לְהָפֵיר֙ אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּרַ֖תִּי אֶת־כָּל־הָעַמִּֽים׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vatּupa֖r bּayּ֣om hah֑u vayּede'֨u ke֜n 'aniyּe֤y hatzּo'n֙ hashshּomeri֣ym 'oti֔y kּi֥y debar-yehva֖h hֽu'׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.

וַתֻּפַ֖ר בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וַיֵּדְע֨וּ כֵ֜ן עֲנִיֵּ֤י הַצֹּאן֙ הַשֹּׁמְרִ֣ים אֹתִ֔י כִּ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה הֽוּא׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): va'oma֣r 'aleyhe֗m 'im-t֧ob bּe'eyneyke֛m hab֥u shsekari֖y ve'im-lo֣ ׀ chada֑lu vayּishsheqel֥u 'et-shsekari֖y shsheloshshi֥ym kּaֽsep׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And I said to them, "If you think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear." So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.

וָאֹמַ֣ר אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם אִם־ט֧וֹב בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֛ם הָב֥וּ שְׂכָרִ֖י וְאִם־לֹ֣א ׀ חֲדָ֑לוּ וַיִּשְׁקְל֥וּ אֶת־שְׂכָרִ֖י שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים כָּֽסֶף׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֨'mer yehva֜h 'ela֗y hashsheliyke֨hu֙ 'el-hayּotze֔r 'e֣der hayeqa֔r 'ashshe֥r yaqa֖retּiy meֽ'aleyhe֑m vaֽ'eqechah֙ shsheloshshi֣ym hakּe֔sep va'ashsheli֥yke 'ot֛o bּe֥yt yehva֖h 'el-hayּotzeֽr׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the LORD said to me, "Cast it to the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them." And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י הַשְׁלִיכֵ֨הוּ֙ אֶל־הַיּוֹצֵ֔ר אֶ֣דֶר הַיְקָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָקַ֖רְתִּי מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וָֽאֶקְחָה֙ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים הַכֶּ֔סֶף וָאַשְׁלִ֥יךְ אֹת֛וֹ בֵּ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־הַיּוֹצֵֽר׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vaֽ'egedּa'֙ 'et-maqeli֣y hashshּeni֔y 'e֖t hachoֽbeli֑ym lehaper֙ 'et-haֽ'achava֔h bּe֥yn yehuda֖h ube֥yn yishsera'eֽl׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

וָֽאֶגְדַּע֙ אֶת־מַקְלִ֣י הַשֵּׁנִ֔י אֵ֖ת הַחֹֽבְלִ֑ים לְהָפֵר֙ אֶת־הָֽאַחֲוָ֔ה בֵּ֥ין יְהוּדָ֖ה וּבֵ֥ין יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): vayּo֥'mer yehva֖h 'ela֑y '֣od qach-leka֔ kּeli֖y ro'e֥h 'eviliֽy׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And the LORD said to me, "Take to you yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd."

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלָ֑י ע֣וֹד קַח־לְךָ֔ כְּלִ֖י רֹעֶ֥ה אֱוִלִֽי׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּi֣y hinּeֽh-'anokiy֩ meqi֨ym ro'e֜h bּa'a֗retz hanּikechad֤ot loֽ'-yipeqod֙ hanּa֣'ar loֽ'-yebaqּe֔shsh vehanּishshebּe֖ret lo֣ yerapּe֑ hanּitzּabah֙ lo֣ yekalekּe֔l ubeshsa֤r habּeriy'ah֙ yo'ka֔l upareseyhe֖n yepareֽq׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that stands still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces."

כִּ֣י הִנֵּֽה־אָנֹכִי֩ מֵקִ֨ים רֹעֶ֜ה בָּאָ֗רֶץ הַנִּכְחָד֤וֹת לֹֽא־יִפְקֹד֙ הַנַּ֣עַר לֹֽא־יְבַקֵּ֔שׁ וְהַנִּשְׁבֶּ֖רֶת לֹ֣א יְרַפֵּ֑א הַנִּצָּבָה֙ לֹ֣א יְכַלְכֵּ֔ל וּבְשַׂ֤ר הַבְּרִיאָה֙ יֹאכַ֔ל וּפַרְסֵיהֶ֖ן יְפָרֵֽק׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): h֣oy ro'i֤y hֽa'eliyl֙ 'ozebi֣y hatzּo֔'n che֥reb 'al-zero'֖o ve'al-'e֣yn yemiyn֑o zero'o֙ yab֣oshsh tּiyba֔shsh ve'e֥yn yemiyn֖o kּaho֥h tikeheֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)"Woe to the idol shepherd that leavs the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened."

ה֣וֹי רֹעִ֤י הָֽאֱלִיל֙ עֹזְבִ֣י הַצֹּ֔אן חֶ֥רֶב עַל־זְרוֹע֖וֹ וְעַל־עֵ֣ין יְמִינ֑וֹ זְרֹעוֹ֙ יָב֣וֹשׁ תִּיבָ֔שׁ וְעֵ֥ין יְמִינ֖וֹ כָּהֹ֥ה תִכְהֶֽה׃ס
